8 weeks to lose a stone

summerslimmer · 19/05/2018 18:52

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

Can I join in please? I am feeling so fed up with my body. Last month I had the horrid and depressing task of buying new clothes in the next size up. Im just under 5ft 2 and currently weighing 10stone 2. I know this isnt huge but having always been around 7-8stone its a big increase and none of my clothes fit. Nothing looks nice and Ive got a wardrobe full of lose baggy huge things to hide the rolly bits.

I had pneumonia 18months ago, and took a long while to recover fully. Being less active and feeling sorry for myself led to overeating and now I am technically overweight. I have scarring on my lung and am on a hefty dose of inhalers as was getting breathless all the time. The asthma nurse reckons every pound I can shake off will help with the breathing.

And as the icing on the cake, Im getting married this year, so really want to try and shift even a few pounds. Im not doing any diets, just cutting out the crap, no snacks, eating all food for the day between 11am-7pm and trying to be as active as possible.

Hoping writing this down makes me commit to it and not slip up. I might not post every day but Ill check in when I can. We can do this ladies!

BirthdayKake · 23/05/2018 19:36

Hey, I want to lose some weight too.

Think I'm about 8 stone 3 (5ft tall). Getting married this year then going on honeymoon so want to be 7.5 stone again! I've put on weight since meeting DP. We've done really well having slimming world meals but I've just sent him out for a bottle of wine, agghh!!

summerslimmer · 23/05/2018 20:28

Thank you ThrownMuse - being in it together is definitely helping :)

Welcome Shadows and Birthday - good luck for the rest of the week

Sorry to hear that today has been difficult summer
Honestly it sounds like you have done absolutely fine - but sometimes it's hard to see that when it's yourself you are looking at....
Keep going - tomorrow is another day!

MrsMozart · 23/05/2018 21:37

Sending a handhold Summer

A frazzled day. The thought of you lot has helped keep me on track. Will aim to catch up and update tomorrow.

ObiJuanKenobi · 23/05/2018 22:20

I've had an awful day! Lemon meringue pie for breakfast and then DP turned up with a takeaway pizza tonight Hmm
Never mind - I had an excellent 4 days before hand Grin back in it tomorrow in full force.

summerslimmer · 23/05/2018 22:37

Thank you MrsMozart and Thiswontendwell I also ate a small piece of baklava just now however, this week has been good overall and even today hasn't been too bad.

Obi - your day sounds pretty amazing Wink

Had a basically good day yesterday and then killed it with two glasses of wine at a friend’s house.... doh!
Still I did 12.5k steps so maybe that offsets it?

Have a great day everyone!

Anyone else have massive thunderstorms last night? No one in my house heard them at all - I think maybe I dreamt it!

ObiJuanKenobi · 24/05/2018 08:23

I think we might have had some thunder in the night, something spooked DS1 who has subsequently been up since 3am!
Feeling shattered but hoping to get my 10k steps in before 12 today as we are then due heavy rain and from 2 thunder storms!
Walking/jogging with the pushchair is the only exercise thats feasible with 2 yo twins at the moment I just can't afford the gym membership PLUS the crèche for them both every time I go so having to go when DP is around to help with them which isn't super often during gym opening times.

Can anyone recommend any at home work outs or exercises?

Dottydoodoo · 24/05/2018 08:46

Hello everybody Smile please can I join you all?

I am massively failing at losing weight at the moment, last year I lost a stone using mfp but then I just sort of gave up. I have mainly kept it off, it fluctuates by a few pounds here and there but I need some serious motivation as I have more to lose. Yesterday I weighed myself and was 12 stone 12 Sad

I have started again (for the umpteenth time!) this morning, had a nice low calorie breakfast and am feeling good about the whole thing. However the afternoons are my downfall so that is when it will get hard. I’m also going to start the couch 2 5k again and possibly the 30 day shred if I can fit it all in! It’s the same old story, I did c25k for 2 weeks and the shred for one before giving up. Why can’t I stick to anything!!

I’ll stop waffling on now. Fingers crossed for a good day for all

summerslimmer · 24/05/2018 09:18

Hi Dottydoodoo I think we've all been there - with the stop and start- I know I have.
The exercise that I found most helpful was 20 mins of yoga everyday - yoga with adriene is really good And it's all free.
Have a good day everyone x

Morning folks.
Starting today as I mean to go on. I had been really good yesterday but I went round to a friend’s house in the evening and was succumbed to a piece of cake. Sigh...
Shakes are going okay and still not feeling too hungry.
It’s so difficult to stick to any kind of diet rigidly. Life keeps getting in the way!

BiscuitMachine · 24/05/2018 11:24

Morning all, and welcome to new joiners. Good luck! I had a good exercise day yesterday, 5k walk and 10k bike ride. But I then ate and drank all the extra calories! Just done a 4K walk then ate a crumpet Blush. Bike ride later. summer 1200 cals seems hard! I’m on 1360 according to mfp, and I find that difficult to sustain. And obi I agree, your day yesterday sounded fab!

summerslimmer · 24/05/2018 11:54

BiscuitMachine I'm not really sure how many calories I 'should' be eating - I usually try for 1500 but I'm not very good at calculating it so figure if I'm under some days it will balance out the days I'm over
Your exercise sounds great :)

Hi everyone! As usual I’m late to the party. Hope you don’t mind me tagging along. I get married in 7 weeks Shock. Currently weigh 13.1 would like to weigh 12, under would be amazing! I’ve lost 4lbs since Monday.

Trying VLCD breakfast has consisted of 2 eggs, half an avocado and 3 cubes of feta with some chilli flake sprinkles. Also going to the gym. In a bit of panic mode! Dress fitting and hen do in 2 weeks.

Silvertap · 24/05/2018 16:38

Hi everyone. I'm nailing this week so far! We go on holiday tomorrow so it might be all down hill from there. Meal plan today:

B- all bran, yoghurt, blueberries and honey OJ & spatone.
L - butternut squash pasta
T - ham roll, crudités & fruit.

PurpleDaisies · 24/05/2018 17:02

Everyone is doing so well!

I’ve had an ok day, despite there being a cake sale at work.

Breakfast was three quorn scotch eggs (!)
Lunch : leftover sweet potato and pepper chilli (it’s s Jamie Oliver recipe well worth trying)
Dinner is falafel and chips. I’m not going to feel too guilty.

DaffoDeffo · 24/05/2018 18:16

Obi, you can get the Nike Training Club app which is utterly brilliant. It has loads and loads of workouts anywhere from 15 mins to 45 mins and at lots of different levels. It's all free and I really enjoy it. I did 20 mins of Core today and tomorrow I might try one of the 45 mins cardio ones.

I didn't have twins but my two were 14 months apart (I know it's not comparable!) but I also found it hard to get out and those type of exercise videos were a life saver. I also might have an old set of Davina DVDs if you want them (but I may not still have them!).

I have had an OK day food wise but I had to really drag myself out to exercise. Went to gym and did 20 mins on the elliptical trainer (would normally do 30 but just couldn't make myself do it Blush) then light weights for 20 mins then the core exercise video at home for 20 mins (and I could only manage about half of it at full effort and half at useless effort!).

My core is rubbish, I basically don't have a core, can't do a plank. I have a lot of work to do!

taking dd out to pizza express tonight so it's a leggera pizza for me Sad - I love pizza! I was googling the calories in alcohol - normally i drink gin and slimline tonic but I see prosecco isn't that calorific so if they do glasses of prosecco I may have one Blush!

legohouse · 24/05/2018 22:19

A good day here... still having occasional cravings for snacking but have resisted. Quick 3k run with my son tonight Smile

MrsMozart · 24/05/2018 22:30

Don't know whether I'm coming or going or b'n.

On the plus side, despite far too many ch sugar(!), MFP says I'm under today, admittedly only thanks to more exercise than is good for a cracked rib Confused.

Hope all have had a good one, and if not well tomorrow is another day for another bash at it.

ObiJuanKenobi · 24/05/2018 22:45

Thank you so much @DaffoDeffo!! I've downloaded the app which seems great! I actually have the Davina fit DVD and Pussycat dolls strip-aerobics Blush but no DVD player at the moment! 14 months apart is comparable when trying to leave the house it can be a nightmare haha but running around after them must help shift a few calories per day at least.. every cloud!

Been reasonably good today
Breakfast: half a bowl of porridge with a banana
Lunch: small bowl of mixed berries
Dinner: a small salmon fillet baked and a side of corn tossed with fresh chilli and ginger in soy sauce

I did have a cheeky GU cheese cake pot after but only coming in at around 1,100 calories on MFP for the day.

Looking forward to weigh in day to see what's what! Even 1LB would be great. Did we say Sunday for weekly weigh in??

legohouse · 25/05/2018 07:41

What day is weigh-in day please?

summerslimmer · 25/05/2018 07:42

Sunday for weigh in x
