8 weeks to lose a stone

summerslimmer · 19/05/2018 18:52

Who’s up for losing a stone in the next 8 weeks?
I’ve had a terrible year so far- chronic health problems, 2 miscarriages, depression...
In short I’ve gained a lot of weight and really want to lose at least a stone of it before a holiday in July.
Thinking I’m going to try low carb when possible as that seems to suit my body.
No friends to do this with in real life so does anyone want to join me?

Completely thwarted by work yesterday. Failed to get my steps too daffo. Weighed12 stone and half a pound this morning. Off for weekend away tomorrow so no scales for me this weekend. Think I'll set a ten day challenge to lose the next two pounds so will be safely in the 11 stone bracket by weigh in a week on Sunday.
Hope everyone doing well and being kind to themselvesSmile

FiveShelties · 31/05/2018 12:05

I was 10st 8.4 when we started and now weigh in at 10 4.8 so have lost 3.6 pounds. So very pleased with that and hoping to be sensible over the week-end Grin

I am unable to do Low Carb daffo, I get really hungry and very tired. I have carbs with every meal, but try to watch portion size and make them 'good' carbs.

HotelRoomforOne · 31/05/2018 12:26

Well done FiveShelties, that is great progress, you've made a good start and will likely be mindful of that over the weekend, enjoy it, don't undo itHaloWink
I have decided to restart tomorrow as it has been a disaster since I have joined this thread. I am constantly rebelling against my own wishes to eat normally. I am 36 but when it comes to food I am 5 years old. Yesterday I only ate M and Ms, a large amount, throughout the day. Today my nose is stuffed up with a head cold and I can't taste anything, so have barely eaten and depressed without food!! If someone told me my ability to taste food was going to be taken away forever I'd question whether I'd even want to go onWink Tomorrow I begin AGAIN with 3 healthy meals and some exercise. I am still 63kgs and I am going to report back on Sunday seriously hoping to be a bit less. Stay strong Gymntonic, it's only food! HAWink I'm having the beansSmile

Tansie1 · 31/05/2018 13:33

I'm lo-carbing, on Day 19 so far!

I've not been amazingly disciplined; there have been 2 blow-outs, Pinot Grigio may've been involved! Grin

I am trying to stick to the 8WBSD, tho I'm not calorie counting because I can't be bothered! But I try and stick to the actual meals, bulking them up, if necessary, with more spinach, mushrooms, bean sprouts etc. Oh, and eggs feature quite highly!

I am lucky that, apart from wine, I don't have sugar cravings; I can happily walk past cakes, biscuits, puddings and so forth; but I miss nice crusty granary bread!

It's going 'OK' tho I got 'carb flu' 3 or 4 days ago, but it went quite quickly.

Anyway, I'm 55, I'm 5'6", my starting weight was 14st 2lbs; I'm now 13st 6lbs, so 10 lbs loss in 19 days.

I weigh daily which is not discouraged, because the odd pound up or preferably down!- gets lost in the over-all downward trend, and daily weigh-ins demonstrate that trend.

I know my loss will slow (W4-5 is notorious!) and I know, due to more social occasions than a Kardashian coming up during these 8 weeks that I will falter, but my WOE appears to make it fairly easy to put it behind you as you just carry on where you left off.

I am on a FB page where the 33 of us on the same start date have a weekly weigh in that gets put on a spread sheet which is quite motivating!

Remember, only we can choose not to be fat forever!

bbcessex · 31/05/2018 14:27

Weighed in - now lost a total of 1stone and half a pound (very important!) in 4 weeks..

Very happy with that.

Good luck everybody!

Thiswontendwell · 31/05/2018 21:27

There's some great progress here!
I too am low carbing and (touch wood) I haven't really had any withdrawals - and I love bread and pasta so I'm surprised...
Eggs feature for me too Tansie1

DreamADream · 31/05/2018 21:39

I tried low carbing once, didn't last very long! I'm trying to make more sensible carb choices now and avoid bread.

I'm loving seeing everyone so motivated, even those who are finding it trickier to stay on track have a really positive attitude.

Weigh in 1 for me tomorrow and I'm so nervous. Started at 10st 6 3/4 (I'm 5'2). This morning I was 10st 3 1/4 and so hoping I can make 4lbs, which will be my biggest one week loss like ever.

Today I've had:
B: overnight oats
L: salad & hummus and pineapple
D: soup with cherry tomatoes and baked tofu sticks.

Don't think I've ever had soup for dinner before Wink

FiveShelties · 31/05/2018 23:16

HotelRoom - hope your cold is easing - awful when you cannot smell everything, nothing seems to have any taste.
Tansie - well done 10 pounds is a lot of weight to say good-bye to. I weigh everyday too.
bbc - excellent progress, you must be delighted.
dream - good luck with the weigh in.

Have a fantastic week-end everyone. We have a Bank Holday on Monday here and I am determined not to have a three day week-end!Grin

Gymntonic · 01/06/2018 09:08

Everyone working so hard and some lovely successes. About to go off for weekend. I've weighed in a pound down from Sunday so I'll bag that as weigh in again a week on Sunday.
Happy weekend - be it 2 or 3 days- everyone

fatneedtobelighterhelp · 01/06/2018 11:51

Weighed in after starting on Monday and lost 3lb - I'm pleased - is that a good weight loss? I'm doing BSD.

I look at some people's weightloss and think that can't be me.. but maybe it can!

BiscuitMachine · 01/06/2018 13:10

Fallen off wagon! It is Friday, so my brain says ‘it’s the weekend, eat what you like’. There is a lot of food at work leftover from a buffet yesterday. Arghhhh.

Tansie1 · 01/06/2018 16:42

My DH says there's always cake and biscuits at his work, but he just tells himself that it's not for him, not today. It's funny but once he puts it like that, I think yes, he's right. Not for him today. Not after the hard work and self-control he's exercised over the past 2 weeks! There will not never be cake again, of course, but it'd be a small slice as the joy of a cake or biscuit is in the first or second bite. And it'll be quality empty calories, not Asda traybake!

As for The Wagon, I know I will fall off this evening as I have a social event at which I will drink wine. Unfortunately, due to the nature of wine, the first sip and the twentieth give equal joy! Grin. I have planned for this by keeping my cals low today; I will climb back on the wagon tomorrow, accept the dent in my weight loss, and carry on! Tomorrow night we celebrate a birthday at home, the boys will all have Dominoes; DH and I will have a homemade cauliflower rice based pizza which is actually really yummy! But I won't drink because my weigh-in is Monday and I need to get back on track for then!

Ooer!

DreamADream · 01/06/2018 20:55

Didn't get the weight I wanted, bet I'll have lost it tomorrow! I did however manage to lose 2 inches from my under bust measurement Shock checked and double checked and it's true!

Enjoy your wine tonight tansie

Hope everyone has an on track-ish weekend!

DaffoDeffo · 01/06/2018 21:20

I have had a Thai meal and too many g and t's! But it is the weekend! Good luck with the weigh ins everyone and hope you have lovely weekends x

cheshiremama89 · 01/06/2018 21:40

Anyone trying overnight oats for breakfast?

I've heard good things, but not organised enough to prep the night before!!!

Dottydoodoo · 01/06/2018 22:10

I think the wagon has run me over and trundled off without me 😂
Grrrrrrrrr! I was doing so well, we have been at a zoo park today and had ice creams and then it all just went a bit wrong. Why oh why can I not just stick to anything.

It’s a blip, it will be fine. I am at work tomorrow and I am going to be good. I am going to weigh myself on Sunday as planned and not be disappointed by the result, and then I am going to pull my big girl pants up and step away from the chocolate and do this!

DreamADream · 01/06/2018 22:35

cheshiremama I have them every morning at work! I use 40g oats, 200g alpro yoghurt, a tsp of chia seeds, mix it all up and then top with frozen berries. Only takes 2 minutes to make and I make up my lunch at the same time, which is the exact same stuff every day too!

Thiswontendwell · 01/06/2018 23:10

Don't worry Dotty
Tomorrow is another day!
I'm hanging on in there tonight (just) but I know I'm going to have to relax things a bit on Sunday - meal out with the family
And I really REALLY meant to go to the gym on the way from work but somehow I managed to miss it....
I must move more tomorrow

Dottydoodoo · 02/06/2018 20:24

Thank you Thiswontendwell I have had a much better day today Smile I have been at work and resisted all the haribo that were open, and then stopped for petrol on the way home and managed to resist all the chocolate bars in the shop. Hooray!

Fingers crossed for everyone who is weighing in tomorrow

summerslimmer · 02/06/2018 20:31

Hi all, hope everyone is having a good weekend and almost ready for our second weigh-in.
I'm not holding out much hope for tomorrow- eaten too much quick and easy food this week, so can't see how I will have lost much/ anything. We shall see...

DreamADream · 02/06/2018 20:40

Hope everyone's had a good day today. I've stuck to it, but am bloody grumpy and hungry! Fingers crossed for everyone weighing in tomorrow!

HotelRoomforOne · 03/06/2018 01:07

I am a disaster! Not sure my weight will be down at all tomorrow. Have been in bed since Wednesday with strep throat and heavy cold. Doc denied me antibiotics. (Melbourne winter, nothing to sneeze at Wink) Still has not stopped me eating huge quantities of overnight oats ( soaked in almond milk) and spiced biscuits dipped in tea til soft! Exercise= NIL. So disappointing. Determined next week will be better

HotelRoomforOne · 03/06/2018 01:10

Well done Dotty and DreamaDream stay with it. You have the willpower I’m hoping to develop. Thanks for the encouragement summerslimmer talk to you all Sunday.

ObiJuanKenobi · 03/06/2018 07:56

Start weight 13st14
27/05 13st 10
03/06 13st 8.5

So 1.5lbs down this week!! Happy with that as haven't been 100% committed this week but cut out all snacks and kept up the walking.

Keep going everyone !!

milleniumhandandprawn · 03/06/2018 08:35

Hi all!
So I’ve been off on holiday this week and the wheels came rather spectacularly off!
(Was a bit fun though)
It’s been my birthday, my son’s birthday and have therefore had rather a lot of drinking and cake eating to do...
Am now 2lbs heavier than when I started.
Ooops.

Am going to get back on the wagon tomorrow and still am planning to lose my stone (now 16lbs!)

Really well done to everyone who’s been keeping on! These losses are great!!
