My meal replacement shakes arrived yesterday, a whole day early, so I've started today. They seem quite small Shock or is that because I'm greedy[ blush]

In the programme, they did 9 weeks on the diet, does anyone know if that's just how long they showed it for and the dieters carried on or is there a set amount of time you can do this kind of plan. I know they're not meant to used long term.

Can't go back to check namecheck who it was that asked about just eating 800kcals instead of following a meal replacement plan but it's also because it's hard to get a balanced diet from 600-800kcals when putting food together yourself, the plans make sure all the required vitamins and minerals are there. It's possible to do it yourself but more difficult.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 06/06/2018 14:36

Also meant to say that I'm doing 2-3 shakes a day, mine have 114kcals each and making a low cal evening meal, steamed veg and fish type of thing. Similar to the man plan I think.

ChampagneCommunist · 06/06/2018 17:15

I'm doing XLS and the shakes (3 per day) have 247 cals in.

Everything I have seen seems to mention and 8 or 9 week limit on VLCD's; not sure why.

Maybe after 9 weeks the body really, really needs Pringles and wines?

Hello
I’m on day three of the exante diet. I’m doing 3 shakes a day. I’ve lost weight before doing the blood sugar diet which is very low calorie but actual food. I was finding it really hard to get back on the wagon and thought having very clear rules would work better for me. I’m very hungry but I’m sticking to it so I’m super pleased.
Is anyone eating the meal replacement meals, like the chilli from exante? If so what are they like? I found I hated the shakes to start with but now I’m so hungry everything tastes amazing! One of the perks.

Ronnyhotdog · 06/06/2018 19:32

I’ve just had the Exante Dahl pot for my evening meal, it was ok but I couldn’t finish it. Husband had the sweet and sour noodles, he said he’d eat them even if he wasn’t on the diet but he’s less fussy with food than me.
I had a coconut shake for breakfast which was nice, I made it with 400ml of water. For lunch I had the maple & pecan flapjack. It tasted of vitamin b at first but once you started chewing it was fine.
I think I’ll probably stick to mainly shakes, much easier to just get down.
I’ve been really hungry today on day 2. I’ve done a lot of moving around though so don’t know if that’s anything to do with it. Had a difficult moment, I went for a walk with friends and it was suggested we had a drink at the pub after we’d finished the walk, I stuck to water but it was hard while they drank wine and munched crisp. I wanted to avoid things like that until after the first week really, but I got through it unscathed.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 06/06/2018 20:21

I was just on the exante website and was looking at the carb content of some of the products. They seem high in carbs to me 17g carbs for a shake 14g of which is sugar.

I thought carbs had to be lower than this to get into ketosis.

Also are the meals nice, are they filling and are they tiny portions?

Sorry for all the questions Blush

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 06/06/2018 20:41

Sorry have a couple more questions

Are the shakes thick, I've noticed that some people use more water than the 200ml guide by the company, are you using more because they're too thick.

Do you feel full on a shake

Is the 42 products of £35 always available.

The lemon pancakes particularly appeal, has anyone tried them?

Sorry for all the questions, I was thinking about buying some bits but money is an issue at the moment.

ThatsWotSheSaid · 06/06/2018 20:57

Hello think of your eating 600 cals a day you lose weight regardless but I don’t know the science. I think they are too thick to be honest. I use more water and lots of ice.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 06/06/2018 21:14

Thank you ThatsWotSheSaid

It's good that they're thick for me, mine seem quite thin

Wetdogloveshubert · 06/06/2018 22:10

Well done on avoiding the other food Ronny. That's real strength!

Ronnyhotdog · 07/06/2018 10:09

Thank you.

I’m currently trying the get the bacon & cheese egg down me, it’s not good.

rememberthetime · 07/06/2018 12:09

I am 4 weeks in and lost 12 pounds so far. First week 5, then 2, then 3 then 2. I'm doing slim and save and have had a couple of low carb meals and a few wines here and there. I'm really pleased so far.

I have to lose around 4 Stone in total so I am already nearly a quarter of the way there. I'm hoping to hit one stone loss next week - then I get to treat myself to a something new... I wonder what?

Mumelie · 07/06/2018 12:11

Hi
I've tried a few savoury products from exante in the last 3 days.
Things I liked: sweet & sour noodles, chicken fajita
Things that were grim: vegetable soup
My DH likes the Dahl and the chilli - he adds hot curry powder to the Dahl as said it was a little bland and shredded raw veg (cabbage onion broccoli) to the chilli to bulk it out and add some crunch.
We've not done shakes but both like the maple pecan flapjack, toffee raisin bar and peanut bar.
Having some other bars, lemon pancakes and pizza delivered today - will let you know what they are like.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 07/06/2018 12:50

Mumelie thanks, I've ordered the lemon pancakes and a few meals, few bars but mostly shakes. Didn't see pizzas.

Well done at the pub ronny, I would have really struggled with that. I thought about ordering the bacon omelette thing that you mentioned, glad I didn't now.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 07/06/2018 14:34

Week 6 (I think!) And another 1.1kg down so that's 10.1kg in total or 22 and a quarter pounds. I've another 2 weeks ordered so it should be here by Monday I hope and we will see then. I'm really finding it hard to drink enough water, I hate running to the toilet constantly which is what happens when I drink more than a small amount. I am drinking lots of black tea though so I'm hoping that compensates a little!

Pembrokedangler · 07/06/2018 15:04

Hi all, I’ve been doing exante since Monday but today I’ve had the most awful upset tummy. I had the butternut squash and potato soup last night (foul) which I think has caused it. I’ve had to come home from work (call centre) as I was worried I would be in the middle of a call and not get to the loo in time - my manager thinks I have a stomach bug 😑 the wind in my stomach is dreadful, really uncomfortable.
Please tell me this settles, I had high hopes for this plan but I can’t risk this happening- I have IBS D anyway so can’t risk anything that’ll make it worse.

Mumelie · 07/06/2018 15:50

Hi Pembroke - urgh I've had the same problem! I had to make a dash for public loos in a crowded market yesterday - not good. I seem to be settling down a little today. I've found the soups and the paste bars set me off. I'm giving it a few more days as I can't stand stomach issues - had years of it taking nsaids and been ok the last 6 months off them. Hope you feel better soon too

Mumelie · 07/06/2018 15:51

Oh and well done Tyrion on your loss - hope I'm there in 6 weeks time

jinglebitch · 07/06/2018 19:43

Hi-tried to join the other day but I think I for got to actually post.. I'm 3 days into exante, was feeling very positive and driven, but am not getting on with the food, particularly shakes, very well. Does it get better? I feel frustrated as I think I could find the will power to do this diet, but if the food makes me retch I'm not sure I can keep going. Right now I'm really missing low carbing- and feeling pretty miserable. Can't tell DH as I just spent £70 on this stuff!

ChampagneCommunist · 07/06/2018 19:43

I'm on day 7 and the hunger had mostly passed, but I am missing tasting stuff.

It's almost as if my mouth is bored; probably not helped by the yucky metallic taste that goes with ketosis.

Anyone else got bored tastebuds? Confused

Pembrokedangler · 07/06/2018 21:08

I'm not sure I'm happy to continue on a diet that makes my stomach feel so upset. DD is partially following too and she just had a poo accident - something that never happens to her as a rule.

I think I'll sell the shakes and meals I have bought, I've felt very off all day, full of wind and constant runs and it's not carb flu as I wasn't like this on the traditional low carb diet.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 08/06/2018 07:59

pembroke I found certain products did not agree with me, mainly the paste type bars. They gave me dreadful wind and cramps so I don't eat them now. The crunch type bars are fine though. I did find my tummy quite rumbly and gurgly at first but that settled down after a week or 2. If I were you I'd try cutting out the soups and paste bars and stick to other products for a few days and see how you go. I also found Bloateze charcoal tablets very good for wind etc.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 08/06/2018 16:54

I'm on day 3 and I feel really lethargic today and weak, feel like I need a nap all the time.

Did anyone else feel this way on day 3 and how long till it passed.

Mumelie · 08/06/2018 17:25

I'm in serious danger of cracking and heading down the takeaway! I need carbs - and wine! So so very tired after the commute home and fed up with it all ☹️.

Ronnyhotdog · 08/06/2018 17:36

I’m on day 4 and had to have an afternoon nap. Finding it hard today, very hungry. I met a friend for lunch and had a black coffee while she ate a bloody lovely smelling chicken noodle dish. I’m making no further social arrangements until I’m finding this easier.
