Hello,
I was wondering how much weight u fellow vlcd people have lost in the space of 10 weeks. I am planning to attend a friends wedding in 10 weeks and am attempting to loose weight. I am abit 5 stone overweight so i am desperate to loose some weight using exante till the wedding.
Looking forward to hearing your success stories.

@Buxton - have you had those dahl pots before? I was quite interested in them when I was browsing the range.....

Buxtonstill · 04/05/2018 15:33

Yes, I tried the dahl pots before. They are ok. Not spicy at all. I just like them for the convenience of something hot and quick. I put a little salt in them.

NoCanoe · 04/05/2018 15:36

Thats good to know , 'Buxton'.

I think its the spicy stuff Im missing.Sad

TyrionLannistersShadow · 04/05/2018 17:27

I love the Dahl pots too! In fact I wish I'd ordered more, but I ordered a bit of everything because I wasn't sure what I would like. You probably all know this one already but a little tip I find when making the shakes (if you find the powder tends to cake a bit on the lid and spout after shaking to mix) is put a layer of cling film over the opening then screw on the lid and shake! My one contribution Grin

Flexi day here today. Exante Bar late afternoon.

Then few forkfuls of chicken pie filling and a portion of mange tout. 1.5 glasses white wine. Ignored everything else on plate.

I'll take it....reasonable friday night and I did do dog walk. Smile

Im done.

NoCanoe · 04/05/2018 21:06

To be clear, the filling was in the pie! I ignored the pastry....Halo

NoCanoe · 05/05/2018 12:55

Damn it!!

I ordered glucomannan - to help with my - ahem- lack of movements. Each sachet has citric acid in it!

Im going to have to hope not too much......Confused

ohsoslim · 05/05/2018 17:18

What's the story with citric acid- seen that in the book but kinda ignored it- I was drinking some flavoured water - sugar free calorie free - if exante works because it's a VLCD - what does citric acid do if it doesn't have calorie value? Does it slow down weight loss by interfering with ketosis or something?
Plus how much damage is having milk in you coffee do?? I just can't manage black coffee- my coffee is my life line!!

2under2survivor · 05/05/2018 17:46

ohsoslim my understanding is that some people can be sensitive to citric acid, in that it can knock them out of ketosis... I think the only strategy is to see how you get on with it. If you're able to have flavoured water, diet coke etc and still lose weight without a return of the hunger (like in the first few days) then you're probably not sensitive to it. I highly doubt one or two coffees with a teeny amount of milk in would make any difference at all to weight loss. I think they say none at all because some people would interpret a splash of milk to mean a latte and then complain they aren't losing weight Brew

NoCanoe sounds like you need something to work so I wouldn't worry about it - even with citric acid, the pros outweigh the cons. Hope it does the trick.

NoCanoe · 05/05/2018 19:08

@2under2- I'm seriously bunged !! Despite lots of water... Will start glucomannan tomorrow. 3 sachets a day. They come as breakfast, àfternoon and evening. Here's hoping!!

ShaniaTwainAndTheRubyKitKat · 06/05/2018 13:28

Hi everyone, hope you’re enjoying your bank holiday so far. I’ve been popping laxatives, I know it’s really bad, but I needed the relief Blush

I’m now at 13 st exactly, so I’m really pleased so far. I’ve got a hen do to go to abroad on the 18th so I want to look my best!

Enjoy the sun everyone 🌞

2under2survivor · 07/05/2018 19:21

Oops... I seem to be missing the part of the brain that lets you say 'no' when someone offers you a glass of prosecco at a barbecue Blush

Have gone a teeny bit off the rails over the last couple of days, but will be back on track 100% tomorrow. No regrets, it was fun at the time, but ultimately I want to be slender more than I want to go on a bender. My new motto Grin

ShaniaTwainAndTheRubyKitKat · 08/05/2018 10:45

Yep I fell off the wagon yesterday in favour of bank holiday naughties (prosecco and pizza anyone?)

I’ve got 11 days until the hen do so I’m going to power through from now. Stay strong everyone! Star

ohsoslim · 08/05/2018 12:50

5lb off in week one. Feels good but tbh would have liked more , as reward for feeling this deprivedSad

NoCanoe · 08/05/2018 17:37

@OHSOSLIM - dont knock 5lbs!! That was my weight loss in week one and I took view better off than on!

I crumbled over the weekend. Didnt really fall off the wagon, but threw myself out of it! Shock

I was supposed to be back in harness today, but bad morning, then rushing to get to hospital in the afternoon, has meant I came home and had a beer to make me feel cooler and calmer. Not a great start......Sad

2under2survivor · 09/05/2018 07:33

@ohsoslim don't be disheartened...Google '5lbs of fat' - it's a lot!

Found it really hard to get my head back in the game yesterday - did some batch cooking for the kids and found myself picking at it (low carb stuff though at least). Stepped on the scales this morning and somehow still managed to undo the damage I did on Sunday and Monday. I'm very pleasantly surprised. No more messing around though today.

ohsoslim · 09/05/2018 08:57

Positive pants back on today! I'm starting to feel "lighter" iykwim - all over, not just bloated tummy- coming to end of TOTM too - so suppose that's lifting the mood and less water retention. But a week in and I'm only really feeling that I'm actually loosing weight now!! Good luck everyone- we can do this!!!

rememberthetime · 09/05/2018 14:35

Hello everyone

I am an old timer when it comes to VLCDs having lost 4 Stone a few years ago and various amounts ever since. I always return to it when I need to get back in shape.

My current VCLD is a little bit of a variation, but is around 700 - 800 Cals and 50ish grams of carbs. But I'm mixing and matching the milk diet and slim and save.

After many years of weight obsession I threw away my scales a while back - so I refuse to weigh myself (it really messes with my head). But I have taken some photos.

Pretty sure I need to lose somewhere around 2-3 Stone - but I judge that on how I feel and look, rather than the numbers. the only worry I have is that I won't get motivated each week if I don't know how much Im losing.

Any ideas on how to overcome this? maybe try on a certain item of clothing each week to see how much closer it is coming to fitting me? Tape measure?

Reading your stories is motivating me and hopefully I will be back to update on my progress too!

rememberthetime · 09/05/2018 14:37

Forgot to say that I have an event at the end of May to look forward to (seeing my partner who Ives overseas and who I have seen since january). So will do 4 weeks to start and then continue after he goes back home.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 10/05/2018 07:44

Week 2 weigh in here and I'm down 1 kg or 2lbs, not a big loss I know but it's 11lbs (5kg) in 2 weeks which is great ! I'd love the huge losses others have but it just never happens to me so I'm pleased with anything Grin. I'm not finding things too hard either, I'm obviously in ketosis because I only really feel hungry coming up to meal time, in between I'm usually ok. Even if I do feel hungry I just keeping thinking 'losing weight is hard but so is being fat', I heard that somewhere and it really resonated with me.

NoCanoe · 10/05/2018 18:46

@remember- an article of clothing is my preferred choice if im trying not to get hung up on numbers. Good luck for the end of May!

@Tyrion - thats phenomenal!! Well done you!! Star

My update is.....nothing positive at all!! Sad
Got distracted, lost focus and am struggling to get back into harness. BUT.....not giving up!! Wink

Summerbody · 16/05/2018 08:55

Can I join?

I'm back on SS after losing 1.5 stone last year, only put 4lbs back on. Day 3 and I'm down 6lbs, although I'm ignoring the first 4lbs as I rounded my weight down to the nearest stone, so that I have a full stone to lose (rather than 1 stone 4lbs- slight OCD at play there!).

Unfortunately I have quite a few social events over the next few weeks, but I'm hoping I can low carb at them, and avoid the drink!! What is the best thing to drink on a VLCD? I'd only have one.

ohsoslim · 16/05/2018 09:45

Hi all and welcome summerbody. 2 weeks on exante and 9lb down!! Bit slower than I would have liked considering how extreme the diet is!! But better off than on I suppose.
For drinks I would suggest clear spirit and sugar free mixer - but I'm sure the citric acid wouldn't be allowed.
I'm a wine and beer drinker - so I just don't bother, and nominate myself as driver to avoid any risk of temptation
The buffet or the meal (and dessert) would be the main issue for me!! 😁

Best quote I heard on here....
Remember dieting is hard, but so is being fat!!!🤗

Buxtonstill · 16/05/2018 16:49

Had a woosh moment! after staying the same for ages, is is now dropping off again, at the rate of .5 or 1lb a day now. Yipee. I'm drinking around 4 litres as well. Here to the next half stone. Good luck everybody!

TyrionLannistersShadow · 17/05/2018 07:50

Well done to everyone, keep at it!
It's my week 3 weigh in today and I'm down another 1kg so that's 6.1kg or 13 and a half pounds in total . It seems slow compared to other people who lose that in a week but I'm trying to be philosophical and say any loss is great. Considering it's only 600 cals a day though and I'm doing 2 to 3 hrs hard physical work every day, you'd think it'dbe more but I guess my body likes holding onto the fat Grin. I had planned to finish up in another 10 days or so (that's how much I originally bought) but I think I'll buy another couple of weeks worth and see how I go.
