llmb · 03/05/2018 20:57

thisisouryrfx18 · 03/05/2018 21:13

RoseyOldCrow · 04/05/2018 07:48

Hi this & welcome!
I have to say that this SF lark actually works - I've lost another 2lb since Monday, which is quite incredible.
Once you really make up your mind to do this, it's honestly do-able. Its not as if it's for the rest of your life, just until you achieve your goal.
An it feels so damn good to lose weight - it's a doddle once you've made your mind up, you CAN do it!

sluj · 04/05/2018 07:59

Can I join you please?
I started on Monday and I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm not hungry but did have a raging headache on Tuesday.

My greatest achievement so far has been no alcohol but fear I will slip up tonight as I do like some wine in the evening at the weekend.
Any tips for low calorie drinking?

RoseyOldCrow · 04/05/2018 08:46

Dry white is supposed to have fewer calories than other wines. But don't drink it if you don't like it - far better to have something that you enjoy & be good elsewhere! (I think dry champagne is also a good option!)
I think that a spirit & no-cal mixer is a good option in theory, but again if it isn't your ideal treat, don't lose out on that pleasure for a few calories.

Mumathon · 04/05/2018 09:12

Woohoo! Just got on the scales (I did pretty mouse myself I’d only weigh once a week but meh...) and have now lost half a stone since starting (now on day 12)!
Finding it ok to stick with now, not feeling especially hungry. Although my activity levels have been lower this week as I’ve got a horrible cold.
Still going to stick to three weeks max on SlimFast, designing a plan for after that’s more or less the same calorie wise, but ‘proper’ food. Starting to feel the lack of fruit/veg (and if I’m honest their fibre Blush ) in my currently diet.

Allthatglittersisgold · 04/05/2018 09:59

Can i join :) started slimfast on Wednesday. Doing 2 shakes a day (actually love banana flavour) and dinner. Occasionally snacking on something low calorie if I struggle to make it to dinner. Didnt weight myself first day as too ashamed but I have about 4 stone to lose altogether! Will see how I get on with slimfast and doing more exercise. Quite enjoying it so far :)

llmb · 04/05/2018 15:42

I’m teally starting to think there’s something wrong with me! It’s falling off you guys but I’m not getting anywhere!! I always have a deficit in calories. Last night was bad and I had a load of dry Cheerios. Don’t know why I wasn’t hungry!! And I had 1500 calories and burnt 2100..... that’s a ‘bad’ day. So why have I only lost 1lb in the 3 weeks Iv been on it?! Starting to annoy and upset me now! Sad

RoseyOldCrow · 04/05/2018 23:15

Fantastic result Mumathon!!
It gives you a bit of leeway over the weekend too.

llmb - goodness only knows what your body is up to! Maybe it'll all happen next week... don't give up tho; perhaps you could do it fully for a finite amount of time (3 weeks?) or add in more low-cal fruit & veg snacks to get your system moving a bit more?

Hi glitters & other newbies, hope you're all super-motivated too - as you can see we're making progress here (Mumathon please take a bow) even if we do cover many areas of the weight management spectrum (meaning you, llmb!)

Wishing you all a fab, fat-free & shake-filled bank holiday x

llmb · 05/05/2018 05:58

Sorry don’t mean to be a drag!!!! Just fed up. Have holiday in 3 weeks..... haven’t given up yet.

RoseyOldCrow · 05/05/2018 07:47

llmb you aren't a drag! I was illustrating (badly) how different we are & thus how results can be different but are still worth having.
Eg - my bmi is over 30 & I clearly have lots & lots to lose but because of my mobility issues (upthread) I can't support my weight loss with 5k runs á la Mumathon. Doing SF shakes even once a day is enabling my weight loss like nothing I've experienced before, which is wonderful, though I suspect not sustainable.
I know you aren't getting the results you hoped for, yet. Is there a way that you could change your diet for a few days over the bank hol to boost your metabolism & see what effect that has? I only mean with fairly good stuff obviously! That said, Cheetos ain't so bad really, they have fibre & are fortified with vits. Perhaps giving yourself the weekend off & then coming back on Tues is the way to go?

llmb · 05/05/2018 07:57

Well.... I went on the scales (I always feel fear stepping on!) and iv gone down a little bit again. So in total Iv lost 2lbs. Not to be sniffed at just disappointed it’s not more! Won’t have the weekend off as I will go back to old habits. I don’t have a lot to lose as I’m not overweight, but top end of healthy bmi so maybe that doesn’t help? I don’t know.... I will be ploughing on. This weather inspires me... when it’s wet and cold I want to eat cake and huddle under a blanket, when it’s sunny and warm it’s easier for me to resist and just want the better food.... probably psychological!

llmb · 05/05/2018 13:19

Does anyone find the bars bloating and a bit wind inducing? Shakes don’t fill me at all whereas the bars do...... so I always have the bar over a shake but when I have one for lunch my belly growls and groans and gets really bloated. I don’t want to have one as my dinner as I eat with my dc and don’t want to not be eating my healthy meal with them. Just wondering.

Mumathon · 06/05/2018 06:53

@llmb - yes! The bars make me a bit bloated, and for the first week or so the groaning noises were quite spectacular! Does seem to have calmed down a bit though.
Had a really good day yesterday. Had a 10k Race, plus a walk there and back. Managed to do it all without moving off plan and got a total of 30000 steps according to Fitbit. Today will be a real challenge though, going to a party/bbq. Think I’m going to loosen up on the diet a bit for the day and enjoy it, using yesterday’s good day as a bit of ‘banked’ goodness!

MadamGrumps · 06/05/2018 07:27

Wow that's brilliant!

I did just under 20k on the Fitbit, not going for a long walk in flip flops ever again though!

I have a bbq at the in laws today, and I actually have the best mil ever as she makes me drink wine! Grin we are also celebrating as she officially in remission so won't be dieting today. I will keep a eye though and not go crazy I hope

llmb · 06/05/2018 07:28

@mum 30k!! Well done! Iv got a 5k charity run next week... I can’t run... so will probably jog/Walk!

I’m struggling at the end of the day. Do so well in the day, good dinner but in the evening I can’t stop eating even though I’m not hungry. Sat down to watch tv and finished off some ice cream that was the dcs Blush

MadamGrumps · 06/05/2018 09:32

I bought some ice cream last night but managed to talk myself out of it, try having a big drink of water maybe you are thirsty?

llmb · 06/05/2018 09:33

Not thirsty either! It’s a habit and I have this awful conversation in my head : do it, eat it ! No don’t eat it you know you’ll regret it like Always. Sod it eat it.

That kind of thing Hmm

llmb · 07/05/2018 08:05

I’m thinking I might stop slimfast for a week and eat normally and see if there’s a difference. The only time I ever lost weight was on holiday where I had no sugar (other than in fruit and alcohol!!) and slimfast has a lot of sugar in it...

Mumathon · 07/05/2018 18:23

Well I managed not to indulge too much over the Bank Holiday, little bit more than usual yesterday at the BBQ plus an ice cream, but other than that I’ve kept very restrained. How’s everyone else getting on?
I’m not two weeks in, going to do one more week then switch to something similar calorie-wise but with ‘real’ food. Hoping I can keep on track with portion size and no snacking, think I’ll revert back to a SlimFast week if I feel it slipping Too much...

MadamGrumps · 07/05/2018 23:56

It might even be that you aren't actually having enough calories, everybody is different and some hold on if calories gets too low.

I totally forgot to weigh this morning but will do it first thing tomorrow. I think I'll be doing the shakes for a few more weeks yet (still haven't actually managed a week without cheating Blush)

RoseyOldCrow · 08/05/2018 06:56

@llmb Please see our posts of 17th April
None of this nonsense my dear, you are waaay better than that 💕

Another couple of pounds off here.

I think the pp was right, we sometimes hit the right time to lose & sometimes don't - this time I'm lucky, but it hasn't always been thus!
Look after yourselves today, SFers old & new xx

MadamGrumps · 08/05/2018 07:38

Just weighed and lost 0.6lb for the week.. will not be having any days off or cheating this week. I want to get under the next stone bracket asap and all I seem to be doing is being good during the week and then undoing it all at the weekends. Least I've worked out how to maintain for aftwards though! Grin

llmb · 08/05/2018 12:18

rosey that’s very sweet. I’m going to try until Friday coming off to see if it makes a difference.

Just completely going off topic, but I just did my blood pressure at the doctors to get my pill prescription, it’s 124/78 and my blood pressure is normally quite low. Could that make any difference to trying to lose weight?! I may be clutching at straws here Grin
