madame don’t blame you!

rosey what do you mean triple figures?!

RoseyOldCrow · 22/04/2018 15:08

I meant into 4 figures / out of 3 figures for the day's calorie intake. (I think a mild prosecco hangover is to blame!)
The good news is that I really enjoyed my lunchtime shake!
Hope everyone else is persevering, especially those of us with a Monday morning weigh-in Grin

MadamGrumps · 22/04/2018 15:41

Sorry I just realised how bad my mood was!

I would love a bottle of wine right now, we went for tapas by by the time I sorted dd out there was nothing left so I've already told dh we are having McDonald's on the way home later! Grin

This weather has definitely got me wanting to lose the chunk, my bingo wings felt like they were painted neon I was so aware of them.

Tomorrow is a new day! (Till then I shall munch!)

llmb · 22/04/2018 18:32

rosey so you don’t go over 1000 calories? How do you manage that?

RoseyOldCrow · 22/04/2018 19:35

I was being flippant! Clearly a fail Hmm sorry.
I usually have:
280-300 muesli breakfast
130 banana mid morning
350 Slimfast shake & another piece of fruit
Sometimes a 100-200 ish Healthy cereal bar afternoon snack if I'm exhausted.
Tea of 500-600 calories, meat & veg with a small amount of carbs.
My bmr is 1750 so in theory I'm losing something on each of those options above, even snacks.
However, because I have complex chronic illnesses my body's demands can be unpredictable (& unignorable!) so despite my intentions, my food consumption has to rise to handle that. I'm also pretty restricted with excercise for the same reason. Hence weight loss can be a big challenge & that's why I'm trying SF for the 1st time.

llmb · 22/04/2018 19:41

Sorry!! I did wonder how you survived on under 1000 calories. My bmr is only 1228. Does that mean I only need that to survive... or does that mean I have to eat 500 calories less a day to lose 1lb a week thing? It confuses me! Sorry about your health.

RoseyOldCrow · 22/04/2018 20:43

Gahhhh just deleted a long post! (A narrow escape, you may say Wink).
Briefly:
Basal metabolic rate = calories to stay alive; activity is extra to that.
Just recalculated mine on the diabetes uk website & its 1,619.
I love my samsung health app cos it tells me what I use asleep - typically 500, with no effort at all Grin

Thanks for the nice comment, llmb

Hope you're all ignoring the cry of crappy snacks tonight (I'm trying I honestly am!)

llmb · 22/04/2018 21:00

According to me Fitbit I burn about 2000 calories a day and my mmm is 1228.... so would I still have to eat under my to lose weight if I burn 2000 calories a day?sorry I don’t mean to be thick... Blush

RoseyOldCrow · 22/04/2018 21:36

In principle, we just have to use up more energy than we consume & we should lose fat from our bodies.
Fat : muscle ratio is important as whilst we lose fat we could gain muscle, and as that weighs more than fat we may appear to gain weight but in fact we're just more toned. Something I've not encountered personally for many a year!

RoseyOldCrow · 22/04/2018 21:41

But it rarely happens that easily, esp if you include being properly hydrated, having a fast / slow bowel, hormone variations, stress & I'm sure lots of other things too!
So follow a healthy diet of less calories than your body uses, weigh weekly to smooth out variations, maybe use waist & hip measurements too, and in theory our fat should reduce, clothes fit better & we get healthier!

RoseyOldCrow · 23/04/2018 06:48

1.5lb off since last week - hurray for SF!!
Any other Monday weighers around?

llmb · 23/04/2018 07:52

Me! I’m the same as few days back.. but trying a different approach this week.... I find the bars filling and fab for lunch with a cup of tea and satisfies my chocolate desires so today Iv had half a bar for breakfast... will see how I go as I usually have a shake and my belly is rumbling by 11 at work. Just for this week to see if I can kick start it. I’m possibly going on holiday may half term which has made me recoil in horror at being in a bikini but decided I will go for it regardless but will try to shift what I can in that time!

1.5lb off well done! Nearly 2lb Grin

MadamGrumps · 23/04/2018 08:43

I weighed this morning and will start properly today, I'm filling up with liquids so coffee and a bottle of water, shake around 10, lunch around 2 and a shake at 5 (swapped lunch and dinner around as working tonight)

No planned snacks so I've got wiggle room to play with for any spur of the moment food dd forces me to eat(don't mess with a 1 year old)

Good luck everyone

Mumathon · 23/04/2018 13:02

Can I join you?

I’ve just been out in my lunch break to buy a week or so’s worth of slim-fast products to give it a go.

I’ve probably got a couple of stone to lose. I do a lot of exercise, but am far too into snacking and overindulging on meals. slim-fast felt worth a try, for a little while at least to try to break the cycle. I like the idea of just not having to think about food, just have it pre-measured and remove some of the choice. Let’s see how it goes...

gwincath · 23/04/2018 15:16

Just started today and am completely loving the slimfast latte shake (although DS 14 tasted it and neck half of it cos he loved it !) will have to lock them away I think !
Good luck everyoneSmile

RoseyOldCrow · 23/04/2018 20:35

Hello Mumathon & gwincath!
We're giving it our best shots here too, I'm only a once-a-day shaker but some are doing more meals as bars & shakes, hopefully we can all keep getting in better shape each day.

MadamGrumps · 24/04/2018 00:00

I'm feeling very proud I actually managed a day on plan and 15k steps!

Just need to do that for next 30 days! Grin

RoseyOldCrow · 24/04/2018 10:11

Well done Grumps!
That is a lot of steps, you'll be losing weight visibly if you carry on like that Grin
Hope today goes well too

Mumathon · 25/04/2018 06:15

On to day three....day one I found pretty easy, day two I felt pretty hungry in the afternoon but stuck with it.
Big test today as I’ll be going for a run (I run 3/4 times a week). Have a feeling I’ll really feel the hunger after that. I’ve been limiting myself to one snack a day so far though so have some wriggle room to up that if needed.

llmb · 25/04/2018 06:18

Well done grumps and mum!

This week Iv done ok, yesterday finished on 1100 calories which is a record for me. The bars really bloat me..... doesn’t help me feel good but keeps my calories down. Iv just booked a holiday for half term and none of my summer clothes fit Sad I’m giinf to work hard for 2 weeks, then measure and weigh and probably have to order new. Gutted. I’m determined to wear a bikini fit the first time though!!

llmb · 25/04/2018 07:40

I was supposed to weigh every Monday but snuck on the scales... Iv lost 1lb since Monday. May not be ‘real’ loss but it’s keeping me spurred on!

RoseyOldCrow · 25/04/2018 08:49

Very well done, sneaky llmb Star

Sounds like you're on for a high achieving (low achieving Hmm) day, Mumathon keep it up!!

I'm not sure what today will bring for me; having a "flare" so not very well, extremely tired too, so having too low calorie a day isn't going to help me. Which is a pain because I'm on my own for tea & was just going to have a shake (honest!)

llmb · 25/04/2018 09:05

Sorry to hear that rosey, do you try to drink before eating? Shoot me if I’m chatting rubbish but I often have ALOT of water when my belly rumbles to pretend to it, it isn’t hungry! Does that help when you have a day like today and can’t be active? I find blending a banana in the shake makes them feel a little more ‘substantial’?

RoseyOldCrow · 25/04/2018 19:26

Yes, I do drink a lot of water, sometimes 5 pints in an afternoon / evening. It does help!
I like the idea of blending a banana, might try that.
Since taking the kids to school & doing chores, I've spent most of today resting or in bed. Not very exciting!!
Done quite well calorie-wise, about 1,600 kc. I know it's not a losing day but tbh I'm just pleased it's nearly over!

Hope everyone else has done better.

Mumathon · 26/04/2018 08:27

Yesterday went well, managed to get both a run (6k) and some weights in, plus a fair bit of walking talking me to 18k steps. Shake for breakfast, meal replacement bar for lunch and fish & cous cous for dinner. No snacks, although it did have to have a bit of fruit juice to bring my blood sugar up (I’m type 1 diabetic).
Think today (day 4) is going to be tougher though, have a quiet day off. I’m feeling hungry already, although it’s boredom rather than hunger really. It’s going to seem a loooong time til dinner!
