Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Hello! Is it okay to join if I'm doing a VLCD, please?

honeysucklejasmine · 31/03/2018 05:34

Hi noshow, welcome.

Fezzes glad you had a good holiday. Good luck on the scales.

Got a wedding today. Looking forward to it! The bride has arranged me a meal to suit DSs allergies. I shouldn't imagine the same has been done with canapes so will avoid those. That'll help with the calorie counting I suppose! I'm going to do a cooked brunch here before we leave (another couple are staying with us for the wedding) so hopefully will last until the meal. Very excited, should be a fabulous day. 😊😊

fezzesarecool · 31/03/2018 07:24

Weigh in!

Start 278

Last week 247
Week 6 Exercise Week 3 Calorie counting
This week 247

Week loss none
Total loss -31

Goal 146
Left 101
Start 132

Yay I maintained! I obviously would have liked to see something but all things considered I think it’s a result for the week.

Honey fun at the wedding

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 31/03/2018 11:32

Good attitude fezzes, welcome noshow and enjoy the wedding honey!

A pound for me this week which I'm content with. Going to the pub this afternoon, with some well-meaning but big drinkers and big eaters. My strategy is to have a glass of wine when I get there, then a coffee ('Oh I need something to perk me up') and a few fizzy waters ('That coffee taste is still lingering, think more wine would be a waste...') before making my escape Wink - by which time they will be starting to get rather squiffy and making noises about getting chips.

Sounds absolutely ridiculous when I write it all down, but it's going to make my life so much easier this afternoon. They are lovely people, but will be badgering me to keep pace with them otherwise - and that would be A. Very. Bad. Idea!

Lost this week: 1 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 44.5 lbs
Left to lose: 79.5 lbs

Hope everyone else is enjoying their Saturday Smile

Great loss tractors and great to hear about your strategy. I need to start having some tricks too!

I ate out the other night and honestly I was stuffed halfway through the meal but kept eating just because we paid for it! I was thinking I need a way around this. Maybe share my dinner out to the kids?

Also my mum’s suddenly going on about KFC (yum!) on Monday but I haven’t told anyone about being on plan.

I really don’t want it after a week that had takeaways, cooked breakfasts and eating out. I’m determined to be more on plan this week and actually don’t think I’d enjoy it but have to think of away out of this.

Funny actually but the last week taught me about making the calories work for me. Like I had a Greggs sausage roll on the way home but honestly it didn’t taste as nice as I thought and it seemed like a waste of calories. If I was at home I could have had a nice ham roll instead and it would have been more filling!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 31/03/2018 12:10

In an ideal world (and probably in many MNer heads if you were to talk about this in AIBU..) you would, in a calm, clear voice explain you weren't going to drink or eat off plan today, and that you would like your wish to be respected. You would then sip your tepid tap water in a state of refined nonchalance and gently chuckle at the antics of your lovable companions.

However, more likely is that you'd get told 'Don't be such a fucking twat, I'm getting you a rioja' and argue about who sang the song that's playing on the jukebox. Or maybe that's just my friends!

Honey Enjoy the wedding!

NoShow Welcome!

NoTractors Have a wonderful time! Me and partner are off to the pub this afternoon, and I'm just going to have a rum and diet coke - it's my favourite anyway and he's been very supportive of me losing weight.

Starting Weight: 19st 9.5lbs
Current Weight: 18st 6.5lbs
Loss this Week: 1.5lbs
Total Loss: 1st 3lbs

Happy with that - had Pizaa Express last Sunday and I know that really wobbled me.

Walked 29,500 steps yesterday, my muscles are still shaking this morning! NoTractors Looks like we both had very active days - what were you doing?

TerfsUp · 31/03/2018 12:44

Just popping in to say "congratulations, well done and keep up the good work!" to all you losers. Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 31/03/2018 13:43

Thanks, TerfsUp - a lot of posters have put a lot of hard work into this thread.

Well done Bear - I spent most of yesterday walking with the DCs in the woods. There were a fair number of hills involved, and we did get lost Blush but it was a good day, and only a little bit of moaning from them.

Hi, i currently weigh 320lbs. I want to get down to somewhere between 133 and 163lbs.

I just cant seem to get started. I lay around miserable and feeling frumpy. Really want to get thinner but my motivation sucks.

My plan is to have soups/shakes during the day and have an evening meal with my son, something homecooked and in total no more than 1200 calories a day. I have hypothyroidism and i have worked out if i eat above 1600 calories a day i gain weight, to lose weight it has to be 1200 and less. I know that seems low but believe me living with hypothyrodism is not fun.

Somone give me a kick please. Get me out of this slump

B1rdonawire · 31/03/2018 14:22

Well done to all losers and maintainers! Honeysuckle I hope you have an amazing time at the wedding - maybe even some new menu ideas if what they've made to suit your DS's allergies is yummy Grin

I have officially eaten too much this week, topped off with a day at in-laws yesterday where my resolve crumbled. Ho hum. Started again this morning.

Forgotmyusetnameagain that sounds low, and hard work. Are you getting medical support for the hypothyroidism? It is bloody hard to get started, especially when it's a long road potentially. Every good choice and every good day counts, is what I'm reminding myself... I found it was fear that got me kick-started. Wanting to be thin was not that motivating because it didn't mean much and I couldn't imagine achieving it. However, watching the next generation of my family experience scary health issues - that made me jerk awake to the risk I could disable myself or worse through my weight.

Could you have an overall reason for starting, and then think of small steps along the way so you don't have to look at everything at once? I'm glad you posted, and hope your day is good Smile

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 31/03/2018 14:39

Hi Forgot, and welcome! What are your reasons for wanting to lose weight? I find that identifying those and breaking them down into targets really helped me to get going. I found that once I started losing weight it became a lot easier than it had seemed at first.

NoTractors Sounds like you had lovely day! I had a similar day, wandered further along the river than we ever had, partner was on his mountain bike.

fezzesarecool · 31/03/2018 15:18

I read somewhere (maybe on here) say for example, that you set yourself a goal of loosing 30lbs in 6 months.

You could well do that, or 15 or even just a couple of pounds. It’ll still be better than what we currently weigh.

Whether you hit that goal or not, the point is that 6 months will go by no matter what and either we’ve tried and got somewhere and not tried and still wishing something would change.

It’s so hard to get in the right mindset and started. But this thread is full of ladies that have come so far and I find that such a great support.

Small achievable targets have been good motivation for me. What got me started was just getting on with it. No waiting for the right day, or getting everything right in place. Just got going and making it up as I go along, so I’m not the most organised on here!

Moonandstars84 · 31/03/2018 18:29

I think I am looking at losing 1lb a week on average. Going to be a long haul.
Well done to losers and brilliant job sts on holiday fez
Welcome forgot
Stats this week.
Starting weight 226
Lost 2pounds
Total lost week 5 14 pounds !!
New weight 212 pounds
93 to go.
Although I have to accept this next week will be hard as going on a mini break.
Premier Inn breakfasts and I will over indulge for sure.
Will try and compensate earlier on in the week.

fezzesarecool · 31/03/2018 18:51

Well done moon and hope you enjoy the mini break! Those premier inn breakfasts are very hard to not indulge in I had 2 of those last week and it was a struggle to limit myself.

But like you said it’s a long haul for us so just make sure you enjoy yourself.

Moonandstars84 · 31/03/2018 20:06

Yes I can't help feeling that I have to get my monies worth.

Moonandstars84 · 31/03/2018 20:07

Thanks fez

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 31/03/2018 20:07

Bless my mother! Easter weekend and this morning she brought round a hamper of healthy treats. Favourite fruits, some daffodils, and a potted plant of two of my favourite herbs (coriander and basil).

She also put in some easy-to-portion little chocolate treats so that I don't feel deprived.

We didn't end up going to the pub but I had one cider at home instead of 3, but it's all written down and accounted for.

Moon You're doing so well! Hope you enjoy your mini break.

Moonandstars84 · 31/03/2018 20:55

Thanks littlebear.

Moonandstars84 · 31/03/2018 21:22

So lovely that you have your mum's support littlebear.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 31/03/2018 23:31

Welcome forgot - please keep posting, you've had lots of good advice from B1rd and fezzes and I would recommend seeking out PostNotInHaste's post in this and other threads. I see Post as a bit of a font of knowledge Smile. Just start - have one fewer mouthful at dinner, take a longer route from the shops, anything you can do will help. It may not feel that way to begin with, and to be honest, you may feel like you're going to be fat forever. However, if you keep going, especially when you slip off the wagon, then you will lose weight. Just keep going and we'll be there with you.

moon well done you, and bear what a nice thing for your mum to do!

My plan for the pub worked - I escaped with my liver (and resolve) still intact...and my companions are still in the pub Grin. DS(9) birthday tomorrow (a proper April fool if ever there was one!) so there's going to be a veritable feast of macaroni cheese going on....I am going to make a massive salad to go with it, and have cut calories with it where I can, but part of the joy is the absolute abundance of cheese, so I'm rolling with it and will account for it accordingly (gulp)....

Happy Easter everyone!

I’m getting bits out for the egg hunt as my kids will be up soon, hope the weather holds out

ChestyNut · 01/04/2018 09:54

I’ve been off work this week and loosened my boundaries considerably including an afternoon tea, fish and chips, birthday cake, an Easter egg and a meal out!

I’m pleased to say
This week- +1lb
Total- 45lbs
To lose- 55lbs

I have never been so pleased to only gain a pound. I’ve managed to show restraint and not stuff my face all day everyday because I’ve had something’s off plan.

My biggest problem has always been having something less healthy and thinking I’ve ruined it and then binging on crap.
And I haven’t.
Back to routine this week and to losing some more I hope.

AnotherOtter · 01/04/2018 11:43

Loss this week: 2.8lbs
Total loss: 84.4lbs
To go: 16.2lbs

I was very strict this week and weighed everything with no 'cheats'. Had only lost 1.6lbs in the first three weeks of the month so think some of this week's loss was catching up. Looking over past weeks of MFP, I realised there was a lot more slippages and maintenance days than I realised. I'm still eating 1700 calories a day and doing two 40 minute brisk walks (really getting my heart rate up on my fitbit) plus random other exercise. I feel I am getting more and more preoccupied with food and what I will be eating next than is healthy so don't really want to cut calories further. It's the first of the month so I've taken waist, etc, measurements as another way to track progress. Really recommend that to people starting out.

Remember to change your MFP passwords, folk. You have to log in to the main site on a web browser. If you use the same password for other sites then change them too (and take the opportunity to have different passwords for different sites). Our email addresses have now been sold to spammers and nothing to do about that other than make sure you don't fall for their tricks.

Great news about your HbA1C, Moonlight. Very reassuring. I've found that doctors seem to focus on weight ignoring other symptoms too. I once went to the GP in my early twenties about pain and swelling in the joints of my hands. Told to lose weight. Turned out it was my fucking medication. I'm sure most of us have stories like this!

LittleBear, if you are interested in online CBT then I found the Living Life To The Full website http://www.llttf.com/ written by a psychiatrist useful.

Honey, is it a Mirena coil? The progesterone it releases is notorious for water retention just like before your period. Maybe give it a full cycle to calm down? Very frustrating for you Sad How was the wedding?

Welcome noshow and forgot.

Well done for navigating the pub and Scottish drinking culture, Tractors. People can get personally offended if you don't join them for a drink which is goddamn ridiculous really. Enjoy your macaroni cheese!

Great progress with mindful loosening of the reins, Chesty. Sounds like a great week.

Well done to everyone who has lost this week and particularly to those who are KOKO regardless Thanks

STS this week. Wedding good, food a disaster zone. Will post more in a bit.
