Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

That's a great start Moon, nearly a stone off in a month!

That's what I'm aiming for now, as I've got a holiday booked in exactly four weeks time to Spain, so would love to lose at least 10lbs between now and then. As i've been plateauing a bit for the past month I think that with a bit more focus I can do it. And as I said in my last post, being more mindful of my drinking and cutting down certainly makes it easier to make healthy and sensible food choices.

For the first time in years I really feel in control of my eating, but what is more important is that I seem to have found the ability to pick myself up and start over again, and just keep bloody going. This is so obvious, but at the beginning of the year I was struck by a thought - i can choose to do nothing about my weight, keep stuffing myself senseless with rubbish food and drink - and stay exactly where I am.
Alternatively ,I can make better food choices, and if I slip up, which of course is inevitable and to be expected, then not to throw in the towel like I always have done in the past, but just to put it behind me and to keep buggering on. The time will pass regardless of whatever choice I made, and here I am, three months later, and nearly 20lbs lighter.

Its not a massive weight loss, and has been pretty slow, but I have got a lifetime of bad habits to deal with, and a fuck load of "issues" so am being kind to myself as well. The point is that I feel for the first time that it is sustainable, and I am going in the right direction.

Hope that others find this helpful, though I know it is kind of stating the obvious. But sometimes you simply can't see the wood for the tree, when it comes to weight loss which seems on the face of it so simpl - eat less - but in reality is sooooo complicted for so many of us.

Well bloody said nobeach!

fezzesarecool · 24/03/2018 16:18

Hi nobeach

Another one that agrees with what you’ve said

I’m on Week 5 if my exercise plan and week 2 if counting calories. I haven’t really got a plan as such more exercising and portion control by calorie counting.

Although every week I’m changing something, like adding in length of exercise, attempting the harder movements, weights, balancing meals more.

Really don’t know what went on this week! I was closer above or below calories +|- 200 calories and I did exercise more throughout the day so started with a 1 mile walk with me dvd, 65 mins Aerobics and strengthening after the school run, 1 mile with with me while dinner was cooking and everyday I was looking at how I could move more like walking around the playground or when waiting at dd’s classes.

So the new exercises was the walk with me dvd and using my waiting around time. Although my 16 month old is now joining in the exercises by getting on my back, so maybe that was extra weights! And I was good with the calorie count but will need to work on the actual diet and nurtition values.

I was focussed this week as next week will definitely be hit or miss. Tbh I was looking to hit the 3 pound mark this was a big bonus!

Shitting myself about going swimming with the kids this week. I did last holiday as I do get self conscious but can say fuck it my kids want to swim and I have to suck it up. I do the whole wrapped in a towel until the last possible minute thing and the second I get out. It’s lovely to think that although I’ll never be a bikini type person whatever my weight, I’m closer to not having to consider swimming leggings and swim dresses.

I wanted to ask, as I’m after inspiration. Every month I’m trying to set motivation goals to meet. So April I have a Dr’s appointment where I know I’ll be weighed and a family memeber who I haven’t seen for a while that I’m hoping may notice something.

But in May I haven’t got anything. I’m not sure what size realistically to aim for but I’m hoping to be able to go shopping for a size 20/22 in ‘normal’ shops rather than Yours or Evans. Maybe by the end of May. Ideas anyone?

Also I’ve been using tins of beans as weights but the baby keeps trying to steal them and I’m worried about dropping them on him! Any recommendations for hand weights and what weight I should be using? I was thinking the lightest one but not sure if that’s going to end up being a waste of money? I thinking about leg weights for the school run too

PostNotInHaste · 24/03/2018 16:19

Nobeach you’ve totally got it in that last post there. That is absolutely it!

Well done Moonandstars, it is a good moment when you realise you are no longer morbidly obese, remember. It well.

Honeysucklejasmine that’s a sensible approach, hormones do seem to chuck everything out of kilter auite often.

Littlebear congratulations on your first stone !

Well done Moonlight and good luck in your competition. Hope you get a visit from the whoosh fairy !

Fezzes congratulations! That is one hell of a loss and great you’re out of the morbidk6 obese category.

Hi Libertysilk . It’s still very early days since you had DD (congratulations!) and with bf i’d Take it very easy for now focusing on good nutrition and trying to get out and about with DD in the Pramacare.

AnotherOtter so sorry you’re feeling down . I was coming in to say clocks change tomorrow and we have found on here last year that the thread mood has taken a bit of a collective dip the last two. Which maybe a coincidence but was going to suggest we think about things to distract us a bit. I do understand what you mean about the scales and being successful . I think that’s where my hormones being all over the place is in a way quite helpful as I’m now not so bothered about what the scales say on a weekly basis . You’re at the point where it does slow down a lot but very soon (if not already) you’ll most likely notice the change in your clothes fitting with almost every pound. I like the concept of the stopping dieting threads but don’t dare try. Instead I am trying to push it more to the back of my mind and focus on other projects more which I can see tangible results on a weekly basis if that makes sense.

Nobeachbody · 24/03/2018 17:05

fezz I am so impressed you have managed to lose over 2 stone in five weeks unless I have misunderstood you. Is that right? If so I am
More than a little envious!! Are you starving yourself? God I would love an 8lb whoosh this week! Can't see that happening thoughSmile

Nobeachbody · 24/03/2018 17:14

fezze Regarding size, I think that every 10lb - stone roughly represents a dress size, at least it does for me.

So at 16 stone 12 (my heaviest ever weight) I was siZe 18/20 bottom and 20/22 on top. (I'm 5 foot 5.5, medium
Build, Apple shaped, long slim legs, slim hips and barrel shaped midsection with massive boobs.! Think barrel on twiglets and you get the picture!!

15 stone and I'm size 16 bottom 18 top.
14 stone size 14/16 bottom and 16/18 top.
13 stone size 14 bottom and 16 top.

12 stone size 12 bottom and 14/16 top.

11 stone size 10/12 bottom and 12/14 top .

Hope this helps!

fezzesarecool · 24/03/2018 18:11

My starting weight was between 123kg and 126kg so for the purposes of tracking in at my very heaviest I’ve done 126kg as my starting weight although it was more towards 123kg. So probably 1 and a half stone loss in total. I remember the 126kg and 123kg weights from Drs appointments back in Ictober time.

I’ve got the old style scales which have been a bit hard to pinpoint on. So I’m overestimating things to the heaviest weight on it. When I first started they went between 19st 9lbs and 19st 6lbs if I kept stepping on and off. I think on these kind of scales they have trouble weighing you at the top end.

Also I started from a fitness point of view rather than weight and was too scared to weight myself until week two of exercising and that’s when I saw a clear drop to around 19stone.

I’ve been using them in exactly the same spot (marked out by the bathroom floor pattern) so it’s as accurate as it can be in that spot and I’m standing on it exactly the same way so arms hanging down with my phone to take a scale picture.

I have got digital scales in last week and they are 100x bloody worst! At one point they said I was 10stone! So that’s a waste of money and a shame as it would have been good for the slower weeks.

Now when I use the old scales there is a slight difference by just a pound/half a pound so I use the heaviest one it comes up as.

I truly think this is down to me not moving at all all day long. Honestly I’m ashamed to say I barely did the housework and got the bus home, only 2 stops from the school run! I do feel like I have more energy now and actually doing jobs around the house.

Great info on the sizes there! I think then I’ll aim for clothes shopping June time. My clothes do feel losser now but unfortunately they were very very tight on me before. I was wearing a size 26 in Yours clothes but probably should have been wearing a 28.

I thinking finding this thread has also been a great help. It’s so encouraging to speak to real life people that have done it/are doing it rather than looking at some random photos in a magazine that I don’t quite believe. It’s some a positive and supportive energy on here when most people don’t understand how hard it is.

I did think about going to groups but I was scared about being the biggest in the room and also running into anyone I knew and then them constantly asking how it was all going. I’m happy quietly doing it this way and chatting away on here.

I imagine if I said to someone I knew that I had lost weight, the response would be very backhanded as it, that’s good don’t stop. Rather than on here a celebration of every pound adding up, maintaining and getting back on track after going off plan.

Lol I’m such a chatterbox when I get going! Hope everyone’s having a great weekend.

fezzesarecool · 24/03/2018 18:28

Lol definitely not starving myself, I’ve had Macdondals this week. I was having 4 slices of bread for breakfast and We were having takeout nearly every night and on top of that I was binging on crisps sandwiches and also adding 2 slices of bread with dinner. So literally eating almost a loaf a day 😳 A McDonald’s would be 2 large fries and a Big Mac.

So that’s stopped. It was. because of exercising I started thinking more about what goes in my mouth and looking at portions and thinking I really can’t manage to eat all that so then began calorie counting at Week 4. I was also noticing that halfway through eating that I was actually full up. Even today after exercising I had 2 slices of toast but didn’t want the second. I really should have thrown and had a yogurt later. So at the minute although the portion control is there I’m still not listening to my body all the time.

I’m now eating breakfast, snack, small lunch, snack and dinner. It’s still very carb heavy at the moment but the most bread I’ve had in one day total has been 3 slices. Macdondals is now a Chicken Mayo sandwich (340 calories and depending on my count/feeling hungry) 1 portion of fries small/large/medium.

I darent even think of how many calories I was eating before! Too ashamed to even try adding it up.

moonlight1705 · 24/03/2018 18:42

Its interesting about clothes size vs weight. I'm 130kg now and wear a 22 bottom 20 top. But I'm a complete pear shape so its all on my hips and boobs. I used to have a fairly flat stomach even until size 16/18.

I didn't get a medal for the competition but had a pretty good go at it.

Moonandstars84 · 24/03/2018 20:26

You are all do inspirational.
Clothes sizes are really weird. I am about a size 20 at 16stone but I am short and have large legs.
When I got down to 12 1/2 stone I was about a size 14.
I am pleased with my loss but also have a significant birthday in 4 weeks. Hoping to lose another 1/2 stone before than.

Moonandstars84 · 24/03/2018 20:27

Also noticed my belly is big get now than it was when I was last the same weight. The joy of the menopause.

honeysucklejasmine · 25/03/2018 09:31

Loss this week: 2lbs
Lost total: 33lbs
Loss to go: 69lbs

I'm also down in to a new stone bracket, which is nice!

ChestyNut · 25/03/2018 09:48

Anotherotter I am also a ray of sunshine NOT. Sad

This week- sts
Total lost- 46lbs
To lose- 54lbs

I just seem to be stuck around this weight, so clearly something needs to change going to have to think about portion size or exercise or cutting out chocolate/cheese.
Just sounds like misery to me

I’m just a bit sick of it all at the minute Sad

Sorry to be a misery.
Congrats the the losers Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 25/03/2018 10:17

Lost this week: 0.5 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 43.5 lbs
Left to lose: 80.5 lbs

Quick post - 0.5lb down, which is about what I expected, too much rushing around this past week, but getting organised for new job now Grin

Well done you losers, and have a hug chesty - we're in our clock-change dip, you'll pull through Smile.

Back later to catch up properly (I mean it this time!)

Good evening everyone!

Had a family outing to Pizza Express today and had been to the park and got an ice cream earlier in the day, so rather 'off plan' so to speak. Really struggled with my misophonia unfortunately Confused

Will be straight back on it tomorrow. Ate very early for us today so might have to have supper.

Feeling really anxious after that meal out, but not reaching for food as a comfort as I normally would.

AnotherOtter · 26/03/2018 12:17

Weigh in from hectic yesterday:

Loss this week: 0.8lbs
Total loss: 82lbs
To go: 19lbs

Thank you for the supportive words after the tough time I've been having, very much appreciated. Honey, my phone autosuggest does posters' names too! I was having a look at some Threads I'm On in the app and reading back old posts and there is me advising people to adjust their expectations about how fast it is realistic to lose weight so think I'm going to have to walk the walk and accept that I'm going to have to thole it for a while. This month has ended up with nearly three pounds lost which isn't terrible just feels slow. I keep looking at what date I might be at my goal weight and I need to cut that out.

Moonandstar84, losing weight then regaining plus more happened to me too. I am still kicking myself though now I type that I realise that I should really let it go. I think I have learned what I did wrong - stopped logging food, stopped weighing myself - so it wasn't all a waste. You live, you learn (I hope).

Well done Fezzes and Moonandstars84 in your BMI category milestones. Great progress!

Well done taking your shot at taekwondo, Moonlight.

Nobeachbody, well said! I think that is a really great attitude and what I aspire to too.

Chesty, me and you can go and be cheery in the corner and grumble Grin Fuck the scales is my new motto. It is frustrating though and confusing too when you don't know why what used to work isn't working now. I am upping exercise and cracking down on slap handed food measuring. See how it goes over time. We don't have to have all the answers right now after all. The journey matters too with weight loss I think.

LittleBear, hope the anxiety settles soon Thanks

BreakingSad · 26/03/2018 14:47

Lost this week 2+ gainBlush
Left to lose 55
Lost to date 58

Didn't have a good week, AF and two days eating out and it all went to pot, only have myself to blame, but back on it today. On the plus side, I did manage to complete week one of the C25KGrin

Well done to the losers and keep going to those that have STS or gained.

Spot on Nobeach wise words.

honeysucklejasmine · 26/03/2018 19:36

You're so right AnotherOtter. I think as well it doesn't help with us "only just started" lot posting big losses. Of course we are losing more quickly - our bodies are trying to catch up with our new regime. I fully expect it to slow down, and I know just how hard it's going to be when I'm down to smaller losses, each stone taking longer and longer. It's tough. Be kind to yourself.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/03/2018 19:38

Everytime I come to post on here, something interrupts me! So, stealing a few minutes now...

I'm having a couple of bouncy days - new job starts tomorrow, so I'm sure it will turn to terror at some point! Making things easier on myself by doing some meal organisation. Lunch is sorted, and, once I rescue my roasted veg from the oven, I will have dinner sorted for tomorrow too.

Really need to get some exercise in soon - my early morning adventures fell by the wayside with the snow, so I need to get my smaller but still very sizeable arse in gear!

Hope you've all had a positive start to the week, and if last week hasn't given you the results you've wanted or expected, that you're dusting yourself down and getting back on it Smile. KOKO y'all Flowers

breaking I am aiming to to do couch to 5k eventually.
Had a night out tonight and J think I drank more calories than I are. Oops.

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 27/03/2018 08:59

NoTractors Best of luck with the new job! I start a week today.

Didn't have a great day yesterday because I was feeling really anxious all day. Went out in the sun and that helped a lot though. Ate more than I should have but I'm moving on now.

Just want the sun to stay!

I was thinking of taking broccoli for lunch when I start my new job - that plan has gone out of the window as I have quickly discovered broccoli is absolutely rank when it's cold. Going to have to think of an alternative now.

honeysucklejasmine · 27/03/2018 09:04

Good luck Tractors!

PostNotInHaste · 27/03/2018 16:45

Good luck Tractors

Cultofpersonality · 27/03/2018 16:52

Work has been soo busy these last few months, I’ve not had much time to work out where I am.
Finally slowing down, weighed myself this morning 4lbs down! I did gain 1lb since I last checked in with you guys, I think Hmm

So
start 19st 2lb
Current 18st 12

Loss 4lbs
Left to lose 82lbs.

honeysucklejasmine · 27/03/2018 17:18

Well done Cult! 4lbs is the equivalent weight near enough of a 2l bottle of drink. (4lbs is 1.8kg, bottles weigh 2kg). Next time your at the shop pop one in your basket and carry it around as you shop. Then put it back. That relief your arms will feel, that's what you've achieved.
