Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

1 lbs loss this week

60 total loss
53 to lose

Slowly chipping away at it. I'm staying in the warm today, I should be tidying and decluttering, but watching films instead.

Honeysuckle well done on the loss and with all that you are contending with your DS, I hope they find a solution soon for him. *

Notractors and Moon well done on the losses.*

Hold in there Chesty

AnotherOtter that's so hard when it's not moving KOKO and wow at the 60 miles this weeks.

Welcome aboard to the newbies

feezes good job on all the exercises, it all adds up and I've done that video.
I do a variety of exercises now, I don't really like the gym, so I do my exercises at home. I have dumbbells and an exercise bike, I do a 10 minute HIIT program and I also walk 20 minuets a day, I've built this up over a year and a half.

Have a good Sunday everyone and sorry if I missed anyone, but KOKO

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 18/03/2018 14:20

Just caught up with everything. We got snowed in at DP's dad's last night so had to stay over. We had a lovely evening - they did a curry night, I can't even imagine how many calories etc it all was, but I googled the alcohol I drank and put it all on my spreadsheet and had a guess at the food, so I can see at the end of the week what's happened and remind myself that a smaller loss or STS this week is okay because it was a really nice evening.

Staying over did mean I had to have a piece of white toast for breakfast which I normally wouldn't do - no idea of the calories on that one because it was homemade.

Straight back on it when we got home eventually though - had a veggie stir fry for lunch, despite the homemade bread calling me. Normally I would succumb to such a treat, but I am really committed to this and don't want to go off the rails, which I know I would do.

Sounds like everyone has had quite a good week.

AnotherOtter 60 miles?? That's amazing! Was that walking jsut for leisure or was there purpose to it? I'd like to start walking more. I don't live too far away from a big park but I would have to get the bus up which kind of defeats the purpose.

Fezzes Sounds like you're really getting into the exercise, glad to hear you've found something that works for you. I normally listen to music and have a bit of a dance whilst I'm cooking. We got an Alexa for Christmas so it's quite nice to be able to listen to something quite easily. She can be a bit dim though.

Chesty Hope you are okay. Gaining must be quite annoying. It could be water retention or something though, and you might find a loss bigger than normal next week? KOKO and best of luck!

Honeysuckle I'm really tempted by those veg boxes because they're quite cheap, but we don't normally shop at Morrisons. Do you rate them quite well? There's only two of us here and I worry that it would just be the wrong type of veg for us and I'd have no idea what to do with it. I eat broccoli literally every day and really hate parsnips, for instance.

Your veg soup does sound really nice and filling. I might have a go at making soup but despite cooking very single night I wouldn't know where to start with soup.

Also - does anyone have any tips on storing carrots? Ours always seem to go slimy after a short time. We keep them in a little drawer in the fridge but I'm not sure they should be there really?

NoTractors Best of luck finishing your appraisals. When do you start the new job?

B1rd Laundry seems to just stack up here and it all gets on top of me all at once. I can't even imagine how bad it must be with more than 2!

Moonandstars Hope you're not feeling too rubbish! I felt really bloated yesterday having a curry night after eating so healthily recently.

Tonight we're having chicken, leek and ham pie, which DP has requested. Trust him to ask for something with loooaaddssss of steps! I make it with pastry so it's a little 'treat' meal, not sure I deserve it after yesterday! I've been having at least half a plate of veg with every meal though, so feeling really good.

Looking forward to this week and feeling positive - hope everyone has a good week too.

honeysucklejasmine · 18/03/2018 14:45

Bear last time my box contained onions, carrots, swede, parsnips... And a few things I can't remember! Blush my shopping is coming on Tuesday so I'll let you know what's in it. I think it's generally root vegetables plus a few seasonal bits. Oh! A white cabbage! I made coleslaw! Still a few things I've forgotten though.

honeysucklejasmine · 18/03/2018 14:47

I just empty carrots in to crisper box in fridge. My mum always slips a sheet or two of kitchen roll in to the bag they come in, to soak up excess moisture, so they are laying on top of the kitchen roll.

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 18/03/2018 15:32

Kitchen roll for moisture - that's genius! I think our fridge is just really 'wet' if that makes sense. Let's see if that works.

Thanks Honey for letting me know about that box! And to your mum for that tip.

fezzesarecool · 18/03/2018 16:53

Thanks everyone, shame it’s 20% exercise and 80% diet! I’m really needing to work The that side of things

Breakingsad, 10mins Hilt well done! I tried jogging on the spot the other day and lasted 5 seconds!

fezzesarecool · 18/03/2018 19:51

Does anyone know where I can get a colour in weight loss tracker sheet like this please?

All the ones I’ve seen come with diary’s and I just need the sheets I tried making my own and they looked crap!

I only know of this Christmas themed one. From twochubbycubs. goo.gl/images/xqbE1S

fezzesarecool · 18/03/2018 20:35

Thanks! Looking for anything to keep the motivation going

Moonandstars84 · 18/03/2018 21:01

Thank you. Feeling better now. Just get digestive symptoms if I over indulge.

B1rdonawire · 19/03/2018 09:43

2.5 lbs off for me this week, which I'm very happy about as some evenings were really, really hard work!

Total loss: 51.5lbs so I am finally over halfway, and also well over my interim goal of losing more than my 6 year old weighs Grin

Fezzes have you tried Pinterest for weight loss colouring patterns? I just drew a lot of rows of 7 boxes on a page in my bullet journal, and colour each box in per lb, so I know every row is half a stone.

Here's to a positive week everyone Brew

B1rdonawire · 19/03/2018 10:08

P.s. I just googled what other things weigh 50lbs, and it told me 5 medium bowling balls or 2 car tyres! Those people who've lost 40lbs apparently that's an average human leg...so AnotherOtter you've lost both legs Grin Grin Grin

fezzesarecool · 19/03/2018 19:32

Thanks, I take a look

I’ve got a new planner just for this and I’m using my monthly overview with little success things, like what people have said how I’m feeling and what I’m now able to do. I’m using a lot of visual things to help keep the motivation going.

Also found a dress that I love and have never wore as it was too small, here’s hoping I might be able to wear it this summer.

Still need to do meal planning for next week, Im hoping if I can do my dvd at least 3 day’s and be careful a few days too that I’ll maintain on holiday. I’m really dreading if I put on and then totally losing motivation.

Notanurse Hope you have been enjoying yourself! As you said yourself it's okay to momentarily gain as it is a long journey.

I am seeing my Grandma for lunch today so no idea where we will be going or what I will be having. It's making me a bit nervous because I don't feel very 'in control' but I'm going to go for damage limitation I think. I'll enjoy myself because I love seeing her and just make wise choices and write everything down.

BreakingSad · 20/03/2018 13:35

Well done B1rdonawire great loss and getting past the halfway mark Star

Notanurse I've a hotel booked next month and can't wait for the cooked breakfast Grin it's about the only time I have one.

Littlebear I know the feeling of not being in control, but you sound like you're tackling it the right way, hope you have a lovely time with your Grandma

I'm going maintenance this week, AF about to arrive and I've got two meals out, as my DD is coming home from uni for her birthday.

I also bought from a friend a second hand treadmill, my front room is beginning to look like a gymGrin but I have no excuse not to walk if the weather horrible.

OJZJ · 20/03/2018 13:39

Totally forgot I was on this thread .... mind you-had a bit of a stressful week and totally forgot i was dieting tooBlush I have just started New meds that have increased appetite and weight as top 10 side effects and i effects vouch for them doing so i have mindlessly eaten none stop and not enjoyed a singlw morsel since starting them. Still I have lost some of the half stone i put on since seeing the nurse last month... just need to lose the rest plus the other 125lb!!!!
Well done to everyone else

AnotherOtter · 20/03/2018 17:33

How was your rheumatologist, Honey? Hope he appreciated the chocolates. How is Babyhoney doing?

That sounds like a healthy attitude, LittleBear, about the balance between enjoyable social occasions and dieting. I'm guilty of all-or-nothing thinking where I am either absolutely on top of the diet or set fire to the wagon which does nobody any favours let alone learning new patterns for maintenance. My walking last week was to and from the local town each day plus two long walks for leisure (listening to podcasts). How far away is your park? Can you build up to walking to it?

Well done on your milestone, B1, in getting over half way Star

Hotel cooked breakfasts are fantastic, Notanurse. It's tough being away from home eating-wise. Have you weighed yourself yet or waiting? I double down when I weigh myself but I know some find it sends them off the rails.

Breaking, the equipment sounds good. I toy with the idea of buying a treadmill but I really don't have anywhere to put it. When the snow was bad here I walked circles round my house watching videos on youtube and got my 10k. Didn't really get my heart rate up enough but my fitbit flashed green Grin

Sorry to hear that you're having a tough time of it, OJZJ. Hope things pick up soon Thanks

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 20/03/2018 19:15

So I had a lovely time seeing my Grandma today, and really enjoyed myself. I had a baked potato with beans and cheese, which isn't too bad really, and it's a bit of a nostalgic thing between me and her.

The park is 3.5 miles away, AnotherOtter. I'd be able to walk it but it's through an area I'm not too familiar with and in all honesty I'd probably get lost!

My worry is that when I start my new job in April I won't be able to get out and do these types of things as much, because I generally spend a lot of the weekend with my partner and he's not the type to walk to a park. It's actually getting me down a bit because I'm worrying too much - which is a classic trait of mine and I'm trying not to slip back into old ways which I had counselling for.

I think I've done pretty well today: had a grapefruit for breakfast, lunch with my Grandma, and for dinner we're having carribean chicken with sweet potato fries and tomatoes. I think that's good? Also - today is the first day EVER where I've not snacked! Little victory for me there.

Breaking Enjoy the treadmill! I'd love to get one, and a rowing machine, but live in a one bedroom flat and there's nowhere to put something like that.

OJZJ Hope you are okay. Sorry to hear things aren't too great. Hope the new medication helps you feel better too!

honeysucklejasmine · 20/03/2018 19:48

AnotherOtter it was nice thank you. Yes, he was grateful for the chocolates and I took baby with me so he could meet him. (I was pregnant last time I saw him.)

Baby is still not right. He's a cheerful soul, but there's obviously something wrong. I've written a timeline of what we've observed and steps I've taken. MFP has been useful for me to link up my diet to his symptoms. Essentially he's been chesty for almost 2 months (I have had him checked, no infection), rashes, itching, dry skin, mucous filled nappies... The works!

I feel quite snacky these last few days. I need to get a grip. Food shop coming tonight so I've not got much in to nibble on. Frustrating. But, I am staying honest. I'm adding it all to mfp, even if it takes me over. And as before it's still reflecting a potential loss, so I don't feel like I'm sabotaging myself too much. But I don't want to do it because it will slow my loss right down, so in my best interest not to snack.

OJZJ · 20/03/2018 21:13

No need for sympathy Smile but thank you Littlebear and Otter I am not feeling sorry for myself just stating a factGrin
I am a bit like an alcoholic but with food ......any excuse for food it's a good day so treat, it's a bad day so "pick me up" treat. It's my day off so treat etc. These tablets side effects are weird though as I don't feel ravenous stomach rumbles (due to my stomach not being empty) just constantly prowling around for sugary foods and carbs and never satisfied ...yet not enjoying them...
I also have a habit of stocking up on meal replacements then not using them (I still have some with a BBD of June 2015 but haven't binned them as keep thinking they MIGHT be ok just not as nutritious or tasty and it's cost me over £200 for them.......) it's great airing shameful secrets to strangers 😂
Well done to every body else.
Love the idea of comparing your weight loss to two tyres B1rd
Thanks for the kitchen roll tip Honey that's genius (for a dimwit like me) my fridge is fairly new but totally incontinent and leaks everywhere

honeysucklejasmine · 20/03/2018 21:23

Wonky Veg box, as requested. I'm not v impressed this time - I don't think it represents good value this time for what's actually in it, but it does challenge me to use different veg.

Hi all. Having a bit of a week, DD and partner have 2 trial shifts, 2 interviews and 2 assessment days between them. DH taken DD to one which is today for something she really wants and has done incredibly well to get as far as she has but can’t see her getting through. Have raging PMT and the builder started Monday. Friend lent me a car and I can’t find the car keys and am a bit sleep deprived this week.

As a result I’m tired and very hungry so will end the week over but I’m fine with that, one pound doesn’t undo the rest. If any of you happen to be psychic and can visualise the location of a key ring with 2 keys on and a girl’s picture, please let me know Grin

B1rdonawire · 21/03/2018 07:45

Coat pocket? Bathroom windowsill? Fruit bowl? Fridge? Good luck finding them and hope your week goes well!

LittleBearinaBigWorld · 21/03/2018 08:04

Honeysuckle Sorry to hear babyhoney is still not right, it must be taking its toll on you. The fact that you're not putting on weight throughout all of this is so impressive. I love the day the food shop comes! Thank you for posting your wonky veg box. It looks like it has quite a variety, I might look into it.

On the topic of veg boxes how interesting, LittleBear, there's been a couple of advertisers in the city centre recently promising to deliver a box of fresh veg from local sources, I might look into it but taking deliveries at home is a right pain to begin with. Maybe when we finally move into a house.

Post Sorry to hear you're having one of those weeks. I hope everything goes well between your DD and partner. You have a really great, positive mental attitude. Could the keys be on top of the fridge, on your bedside table, on the kitchen counter, in a cupboard, on the sideboard, fallen on the floor under the sofa, next to the bin, in the bathroom, on the windowsill?
