Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

moonlight maybe try to eat at maintenance for a week? I know people have found that useful in their loss has stalled.

Welcome Holy. Well done on your loss so far, that's great! So sorry to hear about your ds - I can't imagine how scary that would have been. I know you've said you've fallen off the wagon, but do try to make sure that you get back on as soon as you can. I've always fallen off, said "fuck it" and not got back on again for a few years so I am determined this time that any slip ups will be short lived.

Thanks for you well wishes Bear. Looking forward to seeing the doctors soon.

B1rdonawire · 17/03/2018 16:21

Bad luck Moonlight - what's your instinct about any reason, or is it a mystery sent to torture us ? In February nothing much moved for me and it drove me nuts. I still don't entirely know why I got stuck, but oddly I lost inches during that time even though not weight. I started doing one meal per day that didn't have carbs, not religiously (and by "carbs" I mean bread/rice/pasta/potato - I didn't get complicated about it!) and not every day, but it does seem to have started things moving again. Thank goodness for hearty vegetable soups!

Welcome Holy - I hope your DS is improving; hospitals are the worst places in the world to find healthy food at the rare moments you're able to grab something. Go gently on yourself until you can get back into your routine.

fezzesarecool · 17/03/2018 19:09

Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on a mini bike peddler? I know it’s not much exercise but I’m looking at ways to get some kind of movement in my day when Im holding the baby

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 17/03/2018 19:16

Moonlight - sticking to your guns all week (I'm trying to wean myself off the phrase 'being good') doesn't necessarily reflect itself in this week's weight loss. I'd stick with it, and I bet you lose next week.

Welcome Holy and well done Bear. I've been meaning to go through the old threads too fezzes - I often wonder about the people who post for a while and then drop off. I hope they are still following along! honey I hope you've enjoyed some respite this weekend.

I'm down 2lbs, which I'm happy about. Made mushroom ''bolognese'' tonight, which is super tasty Smile DCs wrinkled noses at it originally, but both wolfed it once they had tasted it Smile. Thanks to honey for the reminder - this is the link, I chucked a few extras in there (more herbs, and some sundried tomatoes) but it's good as it is: Jack Monroe mushroom bolognese

Lost this week: 2 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 43 lbs
Left to lose: 81 lbs

fezzes I'm not a personal fan of the mini peddlers - I think they have their place for those that are housebound/at risk of DVTs, but I think going for a walk in the fresh air will do more for mind, body and soul. Can still be done with a screaming child - being outside muffles the noise a bit

Great weight loss Tractors!

I’m looking at what exercises I can do at home. Currently I do 60 mins low impact aerobics dvd 6 day’s a week and I’m looking to do at least 20 mins walking a day during the week too.

I’m doing squats/counter push ups when I’m cooking.

I’ve found something I can use as a step board for step exercises while dd’s bathing and the baby’s throwing things in the bath at her!

Just now I’ve worked all day (extra shift) and haven’t done my dvd today. Anyway ds half woke and needed a cuddle for a while and I was thinking it might be nice to have a mini bike for times like this.

What I’m working up to is going to do a clubercise class and I would love to start tap dancing lessons. But really I’m not fit enough for that yet, or confident.

What else does everyone do exercise wise?

honeysucklejasmine · 17/03/2018 21:05

Glad you enjoyed the mushroom bolognaise Tractors, and huge well done on the loss! That's a great total lost already too.

I am pleased to report baby DS is much better today. His skin isn't as dry and the cuts all over his head are healing, he's not added any fresh ones today which is great. Still lots of sick but not as much as before and he's spent plenty of time with DH so it's not all gone on me either! I feel free!

I'm not fantasy shopping for "when I am slim". The trousers I wasn't sure on on Monday most definitely fit now, which pleases me. But they are a size 20 so still a way to go! It's my birthday at the end of May so I am going to ask for money for a mid-point wardrobe update.

Weigh in tomorrow morning.

honeysucklejasmine · 17/03/2018 21:06

fezzes I don't do any. I'm liking your ideas about working exercise in to the day though.

B1rdonawire · 17/03/2018 21:18

That's good news re your DS Honeysuckle I hope it continues

Fezzes I don't do any exercise currently. Single parent, children who think sleep is for wimps Wink and earning a living keeps getting in the way... Aiming to get outside more this year, and be active in the garden with the DC at least. (I used to do tap classes and they were fantastic - heartily recommend it once you feel ready.)

fezzesarecool · 17/03/2018 22:04

I’ve just see hula hooping! It looks so fun and something I can do with the kids

Just sent dh to go get me one and if I like it I’ll invest in a weighted one.

Maybe (if that’s ok) we could all do some kind of exercise challenge where we do something instead of just standing for 5mins? Eg marching on the spot while the bath fills

Honey, glad dd is better

B1rdonawire yeah my kids are both still up! Glad you say Tap classes are good Dd does a lot of dance and I’d love to do a little too

fezzesarecool · 17/03/2018 22:34

One child asleep! The other playing in the cot

Just managed to try this
m.youtube.com/watch?v=njeZ29umqVE

It’s just fast walking but I feel good after doing in and a bit winded! And makes up a little for not fitting in my dvd It May be my holiday exercise

honeysucklejasmine · 18/03/2018 09:01

3lb off this week.

Lost to date: 31lbs
Loss to go: 71lbs

Feeling good! Busy cooking day ahead - going to make another batch of soup for lunches (as it's snowing, again) and need to make some pasties for DH to shove in oven tomorrow as I'll be home late with the kids. Also need to make actual dinner - falafel.

Moonandstars84 · 18/03/2018 09:11

Checking back in. Slightly fell off the healthy eating wagon on Friday and completely on Saturday. Didn't even log yesterday on mfp. Feeling a bit rubbish this morning physically. So clearly my body can't handle alcohol or some of the food I ate yesterday.
Anyway firmly back on wagon this morning.
Weigh in starting weight 226
Lost 1 pound this week
Week e total 8 pounds
Target 119 ish
99 to go
Well done on loss tractors and glad baby ok honeysuckle
're exercise I have just been walking as much as possible. Need to get back to gym. May go tonight. Used to play badminton with older kids which was fun but they have lost interest.

Moonandstars84 · 18/03/2018 09:12

Brilliant loss honeysuckle cross post due to my slow typing.

Moonandstars84 · 18/03/2018 09:13

Week 3

B1rdonawire · 18/03/2018 09:16

That's fab, Honeysuckle a just reward for all the restrictions you've been living with!

Impressed with all your activity Fezzes sounds like you're enjoying it.

Laundry laundry laundry here today, living the dream... Snowy here too, definitely a snuggling inside kind of day (although I expect DC will demand a snowball fight at some point - I am always torn between wanting to keep it fairly brief, and wanting to get the most benefit from the effort it took to get everyone into snow gear!)

fezzesarecool · 18/03/2018 09:24

B1rdonawire, thanks I can’t believe I’m actually moving around!

I tried hula hooping this morning and I can’t keep the hoop up for one loop! 🤣 It looks so easy but the hoop was constantly dropping. Had a lot of fun with the kids though and I can’t hula on my right arm, think this is definitely something I can do as a ‘normal’ thing in a lazy day.

Also got dh exercising with me doing the walk thing this morning so that something we can do together.

Now off to work, hope everyone has a great day

ChestyNut · 18/03/2018 09:31

This week- +8oz
Total lost- 46lbs
To lose- 54lbs

Bollocks I hate gaining. Not sure why either Sad

tshirtsuntan · 18/03/2018 09:39

Please may I join you? Have been losing since 5th January, start weight 17 stone 9 lbs, current weight 15 stone 6lbs. I joined weight watchers 4 weeks ago and have shown a loss weekly since but I'm currently flagging a bit and can feel my motivation slipping. I need to be about 11 stone for health and wellness reasons so still got a way to go!

honeysucklejasmine · 18/03/2018 10:00

Lol b1rd, it's only fair! I'm buying a bread maker on FB (£5!) so going to use that to make my own soya free loaves. I can make by hand of course but I don't have a proper bread tin, and the bread maker is cheaper than a tin! 😄

Chesty are you still unwell? Your body might be hanging on to weight until you're better. Koko anyway. Flowers

honeysucklejasmine · 18/03/2018 10:01

Hi T-shirt! Well done on your loss so far. Welcome, welcome!

AnotherOtter · 18/03/2018 11:08

Starting weight: 241lbs
Current weight: 159.8lbs
Loss this week: 0.4lbs
Total loss: 81.2lbs
To go: 19.8lbs

Half a pound off this week after STS last week feels quite miserly! I weigh daily and it looked like I was STS this week too but I cracked down on slippages on MFP and upped the exercise. On course to walk over 60 miles this week which is astonishing to me considering I could only do 10 minutes of slow walking at a time when I started.

Those mixed pulse pouches look good, Tractors. Eight appraisals?! That sounds... uh... fun Grin Hope your stress levels aren't off the charts.

LittleBear, well done with the step forward with overcoming your misophonia. That is great progress.

So sorry that baby Honey is so poorly, that sounds really upsetting and frustrating after all the dietary changes you have been trying. Really hope the GP on Thursday has some useful advice. Well done for not binging. What timing your lupus has for a flare up! Awful illness Sad Is this the new consultant you are seeing tomorrow or your favourite old one? Good luck with the appointment.

Moonlight, you sound really frustrated and I have been there too with stalls. The thing that really helped with me was being ruthless with weighing everything to log it - milk, oil, butter, every little thing. Even 50% out on a few things can be a several hundred calories out a day. Do you weigh daily? Is your weight fluctuating? Can you up your exercise? Hang in there Thanks

Welcome OhHolyFuck and Tshirt. Well done both on your losses so far.

Well done to folk who have lost this week and commiserations to those who have STS or gained. KOKO Thanks

honeysucklejasmine · 18/03/2018 12:30

AnotherOtter it's the old one. Well remembered! I have a card for him and a box of G&Bs selection bars. I know there are some rules regarding presents but he can easily sneak those home for his kids if he can't accept them himself.

Well done on your loss. I imagine it slows down that close to target so well done you for getting a loss at all.

I've made a kinda veg curry soup. Onion, garlic, leek, carrot, parsnip, rice, chopped tomatoes, stock and curry powder. Comes in at 110 cals a serving and is nice and warming. That'll do this week. I've also done my online shop with Morrison's this week - they sell Oatly Barista so do one with them once a month to stock up - and chucked in one of the "wonky veg" mystery boxes so will make it my challenge to incorporate all the veg I can and make soup with the rest! Fancying French onion soup at some point. Yum.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 18/03/2018 12:51

fezzes I'm so impressed with all your exercise! I have a few friends who powerhoop (the big weighted hoops) and say they are fab, and the classes are hard work.

B1rd -hope you've had fun in the snow! It is swirling here (and I can hear a neighbour passive-aggressively shoveling the pavement - there's really no need for it!)

honey that veg curry soup sounds fab - and I must remember to get a veg box in soon. The only slight complication I have when meal planning is that exDh and I do alternate weeks with the DCs, so the weeks when I have them I go through a whole lot more food than I do when it's just me! So a veg box for myself seems very indulgent Grin.

chesty - please try not to sweat over 8oz you might just need a poo you'll be rewarded with a 'whoosh' at some point Wink

Another - look at your total! Less than 20lbs to go, you clever thing Star

Hope everyone else is KOKO-ing

I'm finishing off the appraisals this afternoon - snow swirling outside, a fresh coffee and some cello music is making it seem very civilised, so it's not too much of a hardship - I am going to be very glad to be shot of this job though! Grin DCs are lounging on various pieces of furniture - I think they are in need of a holiday, this term has been pretty hectic for them both and I think hormones are starting to kick in for both (joy! Confused)

Enjoy the rest of your Sundays!

tractors it was tasty. It also had green beans in. Basically followed the heathen rules of veg curry - chuck in any old shit as long as the spices are right 😂

Baby is asleep on me and DH and toddler are cuddled on other couch. We're watching Moana and trying to encourage toddler to sleep - usually she would sleep in car or on a walk, she's not so good at dozing off at home unless it's actually bed time.

The veg box is pretty large, definitely a bit excessive for one person unless you have a large, mostly empty, freezer! 😂

I need to make Cornish pasties later. Going to use my food processor to do the slicing for me as I'm lazy, so will have to time it around baby sleep times.
