Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Happy birthday honey! Well done chesty and the rest of you losers, and very impressed with your running Kiki - I just can't get my arse moving at the moment!

Making progress on the breakfast front - overnight oats is an excellent idea! The DCs go to breakfast club at school, and we tend to have a brunchier breakfast at the weekends, so it's quite rare we even have breakfast. Bit odd now that I think about it...

Absolutely no plans at all for today - I should do some housework or life admin, but the temptation to relax with a book and a fresh pot of coffee for a few hours is overwhelming! Grin

Thanks all. Cake was good! Of course it was vegan and gluten free, so doesn't taste like cake usually does, but it's still very tasty. And DS could have some too!

Great loss Chesty, sorry about your back! I went ice skating and fell over (fucking livid. I had to wear shitty rental hockey skates because my figure skaters are buried under a pile of boxes in the garage.) so I have plenty of bruises too.

Good news on the breakfast Tractors

Loss this week: 1.25lbs
Loss to date: 47.25 lbs
To lose: 54.75 lbs

PostNotInHaste · 27/05/2018 10:48

Glad today was better Nickname.

Happy Birthday Honeysuckle, you can have you cake and eat it ! Good loss this week, nice birthday present and the halfway mark in view for you too.

I’ve missed a big chunk of the thread this week, apologies not to namecheck. Otter I think I saw you did the 20 min run? Congratulations! Notanurse huge sympathies on the op date fiasco.

Well done Kiki, how was it doing the 8K steps? I used to be overtaken by the fit dog walkers when I started C25K!

Chesty excellent, that half way mark well in sight now. Sorry about your back. I started Nov 2016.

I think you should do some chilling out Tractors, important for all of us sometimes.

BreakingSad · 27/05/2018 11:40

Happy Birthday Honey and well
done to all the losers.

I'm 1 lb down and that was with AF. I've also made a spreadsheet (nerd alert) Grin showing my calories in and calories burned, which I'm finding really helpful, seeing the totals over the week.

Post I had a look at my local park run, as I didn't realise they post names, also surprised that my local is one of the biggest in the country, I might have a go at the course, but not on a park run day Grin

Have a good day everyone

honeysucklejasmine · 27/05/2018 13:23

Yes, 3.75lbs to half way! I would like to do that by 17th June. No significant date, just be nice!

I'm in a new stone bracket now too, so waving goodbye to the 16-somethings. Bye bye, off you fuck.

ChestyNut · 27/05/2018 13:31

post Argh can’t add up!
TO Lose - 47lbs 4oz
I’ve passed the half way Smile Next goal 4 stone!

PostNotInHaste · 27/05/2018 13:39

I thought you had then thought I must have got mixed up Chesty Grin better that way round. I think I might be able to guess your local one then as friends have moved down from there and we’re taking about it last week by coincidence. I’m sure they don’t encourage it but it’s your chance to reinvent yourself when you register ! I’ve dropped the first letter of my name for it which I’d wanted to do for years. Tried it on for size so to speak and have decided to use it at the allotment when introducing myself, feel it fits with my new beginning.

Honeysuckle can relate to that, love going down a bracket. Well done !

moonlight1705 · 27/05/2018 15:17

Just been able to catch up on the last few days.

Honeysucklejasmine, Happy birthday weekend! Well done on this week’s loss, and YES to a new stone bracket. I am with you on the reasons for calorie counting. I need to know what a proper portion size looks like, but also be able to treat myself with the things that work for me – which at the moment is a Mars ice-cream every evening….

ScaredPAD, well done on losing 3lbs. Good work!

NoTractorsAtTheTable, sorry you have been struggling. I hope things a bit easier very soon and well done on the meal planning.

Cagliostro, hello! Yes, learning to wait for things has been a revelation for me too. It’s not lame, it’s eating appropriately.

Nicknamehelp, sorry not been to an all inclusive, but your plan looks a good one. And glad to know your Dd is doing better. Hooray it’s half term for you.

Fantasticday09, welcome. I am a newbie on the thread too (and to posting anything on Mumsnet come to that).

Notanurse2017 what a frustrating time you are having about your op. I hope a date gets sorted soon. You walked 27k steps – wow, I am impressed!

AnotherOtter, I hear your frustration, but dipping into a normal BMI is fantastic and inspirational, and if you’ve done it once you will get there again.

Moonlight1705 congratulations!!

Kikidelivers, ChestyNut and BreakingSad well done on the weight loss!

And hello to everyone. There are a lot of us so sorry if I haven't mentioned you specifically.

My stats for the week to Friday (my weigh in day but I can't seem to get to post on Fridays - or Saturdays come to that!):

Loss this week 1 lb
Loss to date 47.75 lbs
Left to lose 55.75 lbs

nicknamehelp · 28/05/2018 14:30

Omg "accidently" ate some mixed nuts then looked up cals - salad for me for rest of the day.

Had a swim today. Feeling so much better for it if not yet looking better for it.

Cagliostro · 28/05/2018 17:51

Ah well at least it’s protein :) nuts are easy to eat lots of.

Well I’ve made it a week of writing a food diary, and trying not to snack so much. I’ve also done better at not drinking calories (I’m not counting calories myself but try and think to myself something is “not worth the calories”. Other than water all I’ve had all week is one small smoothie and one Pepsi max.

Not that I’m anywhere near perfect but I don’t think I ever will be, I need to keep it sustainable.

Not sure when to weigh myself.

honeysucklejasmine · 28/05/2018 19:11

Nickname argh! I hate it when that happens!

Cagliostro most of us weigh one a day week, which is often enough to see changes without freaking out about the daily fluctuations.

Cagliostro · 28/05/2018 19:28

I am thinking I may have to do weekly, I had only bothered every couple of months (I don’t have scales at home so just go to Boots) but maybe I need to face the numbers more often now. The thought fills me with dread.

I was so lucky the weight basically fell off during the pregnancy - I mean the few weeks where I was really strict due to the GD was hard but it’s always easier to do something for the baby than for myself :( but basically I didn’t really feel like I was trying very hard IYSWIM. But now, especially since baby started solids and is therefore BFing a little less, it feels really hard.

I am really struggling with my mindset ATM too. I feel absolutely huge even though I am 4 stone and a couple of dress sizes smaller than at my biggest. But I feel hideous. Self conscious in a way I haven’t for years. :( I think I look more pregnant than when I was - a lot of the weight seems to have gone from my hips and thighs so from the front I am noticeably smaller, but my tummy isn’t. It doesn’t help that nursing tops tend to be maternity tops too, so they have that shape. I’ve not been bothered about clothes for years but I’m feeling so frumpy as I’m limited to BF friendly clothes.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 28/05/2018 20:52

I weigh weekly, but with a hop on the scales mid-week every so often to see how I'm going.

Giving myself every chance at being successful this week, and trying to jumpstart my mojo at the same time. I have my overnight oats in the fridge, and about to go sort out tomorrow's lunch (roasted a chicken earlier, so will get several meals out of it).

Need to get some more work clothes which I'm dreading. I've not really lost much in dress size - I'm a solid 16, but being tall, with a belly and a long torso, means most things look odd on me and I hate shopping . This job is far more business dress than previous jobs, so tunics/leggings/ankle boots don't really cut it, but most dresses (and trousers) are too short, and a suit is too formal Hmm. Need to do some lurking over on S&B I think!

Hope you're all enjoying the bank hol, and KOKO for the week to come!

B1rdonawire · 28/05/2018 21:10

Hello all and congrats to Moonlight wow!

Well done on all the losses, and empathic fist bumps to everyone clinging onto motivation by their fingernails Grin

STS this week for me, I seem to have been hovering around the same lb for weeks, not sure what's going on but am a bit fed up. Had a completely off-plan lunch because was out with friends and their kids and I just needed to loosen the rules. My first pizza and glass of wine in 11 months - tasted amazing! (I am no saint I've just been prioritising treat calories on chocolate.) Then did run 1 of week 5 this evening. Trying not to think about what's coming..!

I really want to get 28lbs off in the rest of the year, so attempting to press the re-set button and get back in touch with the "why" of doing all this. Have others found their original motivations changed as they went along, or did they stay the same?
