Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Well done everyone.
Well done running 20mins!!! (I forget names and can't keep track but hugely well done!)
Welcome cagliostro. I have chronic fatigue too but this last month have managed to get a bit more active as long as I plan rests too. I live in fear of relapsing.

Thank-you everyone for all your support. It's so encouraging to know to KOKO when you see those who are already much further down the path and succeeding!.

I lost 3lb this week!!!! I know it goes up and down each week so isnt this week specifically, and balances out the 1lb weeks etc but it's so encouraging.

4weeks in and now lost 6lb
Still 7stone 7 to go.

I'm loving feeling more active. I'm walking and swimming and not even thinking about the gym and it's lovely - the weather helps! I hope the weight loss keeps losing but I'm feeling I'm doing the "right" things for my body which us the main thing.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 22/05/2018 18:28

Quick pop in from me (I will post properly soon, promise!) - hi all and welcome new faces Smile

Scared - I totally know what you mean by doing the 'right' things for your body - I posted a while ago about 'looking after my organs' when I was making choices. It was surprisingly effective thinking - 'hmm, I bet my liver would rather I had this salad, and my kidneys will appreciate this extra pint of water"

KOKO!

Thank you for the welcomes :)

I sort of feel fraudulent for being proud of the weight loss last year as I didn’t really work for it, apart from the few weeks following the LCHF for the gestational diabetes. That was hard - but also easy because it was for the baby.

It’s not really that it’s plateaued despite following my rules, more that I haven’t tried at all since having the baby. So the rules I posted above are what I want to follow going forward, rather than what I’ve been following already IYSWIM. I mean, I should have been following them, but I’ve just found it too hard when tired and stressed. I think really I only managed to maintain because of breastfeeding burning some extra calories. Blush

I also forgot a couple of small changes:
Not having chocolate every day. This is my downfall! So I now have 3 days a week when I can have some. Problem is for a while I was starting to overcompensate by eating whatever non chocolate cakes, biscuits etc I could get my hands on! But I think I have a handle on this now.
Less processed food generally - this is also because we are doing BLW with the baby, and I don’t want to always be having to make separate things, I want all of us to eat more healthily. I CAN cook but had got into bad habits. Due to the disabilities I have, cooking can be exhausting. We have very busy evenings - my DCs are home educated and we do activities every weeknight, as well as some daytime stuff, so I really really need to get stuck into meal planning and batch cooking. Also have a fussy middle child to contend with (older two are both autistic).

Anyway I am feeling fairly positive that by putting some effort in I can get going again. I’m not planning to go all out and lose lots quickly, as I said earlier I really struggle with all or nothing type thinking, so if it’s going to stick it has to be gentle and easy!

I am really trying to remember that I can WAIT for things. I act on cravings really quickly as I can’t get them out of my head. But I’m learning to remind myself that the chocolate, Dr Pepper or fast food meal will still be there another day, they aren’t going to suddenly disappear off the face of the earth! Lame I know but it really helps Blush

Welconme calistro and well done on loss so far.

Today I've kept well under c.c and been to the gym so a good day.

Have any of you managed to go on an all inclusive him and not undo all your hard work - any tips.

I'm planning as follows:

Fruit and eggs for breakfast
Salad with lean protein for lunch
Lean protein salad and small carbs plus fruit for evening meal
No snacks
Drink mainly water in day and a couple at night (I'm not a big drinker)
Perhaps an ice cream every other day.

I'm planning on trying exercise classes and gym hotel has.

Fantasticday09 · 22/05/2018 23:00

Can I join please? I weigh 14stone 7 which is massive on my 5ft ish frame.
Probably need to lose 6 stone approx.
Started yesterday doing my fitness pal and lots of walking.
Although on holiday during half term.

AnotherOtter · 23/05/2018 10:44

Honey, you sound very organised with your clothing plans and that's a great graph. I gave lots of clothes to the charity shops too but stupidly didn't realise that clothes that were too tatty for that could have been recycled. It's still annoying me that I just put them in the bin. It's bizarre to me how different people's sizes are at the same weight. I've just bought a size 16 dress from Mint Velvet at 10st10 while my sister is a size 10 at this weight. Lindy Bop looks great and I have bookmarked them. Hope your daughter and brother are better soon, that's tough having such a long run of illness.

That's a rubbish time of it you've had, B1rd, with the insect bite. Hope you are alright now.

Lego, what a long wait for your appointment. I second Nickname's suggestion of guided meditation: have you seen the Headspace app? https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/headspace-guided-meditation/id493145008?mt=8 on iphone

Welcome Kiki. A normal day pre-diet for me was too large quantities of relatively 'healthy' food. I didn't eat crisps, cake, chocolate, etc, as I am both lactose and gluten intolerant and the suitable versions of those are either very expensive or not very nice. Except crisps, which I've just never liked particularly. But I would eat things like peanut butter and butter sandwiches (!!) just as a random extra snack plus lots of other high calorie snacks as comfort eating was a big part of my life. I still have three snacks a day but they are small and fit in my calorie budget and my meals are smaller too. I experimented a lot to find out what mix of protein and fibre keeps me feeling full despite less calories.

Welcome Cagliostro. You have made brilliant progress, well done.

Well done on your loss, Scared. Being more active made me feel much better too, love it Smile

Nickname, I've never been on an all inclusive holiday so don't have any tips but your plan looks good to me. Portion control will be key I think.

Welcome Fantasticday too.

AnotherOtter my parents live in the Midlands where Guide Dogs for the blind are based. They are very well known in the area for being the modern day 'rag and bone' man. So I bag them up and Mum takes them away when she visits. Smile DD feeling much better and DB's x-rays looking good!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 23/05/2018 21:40

I'm not going to even try and namecheck everyone, lovely to see the thread so busy! Smile

I've been struggling a bit with my mojo this week - just really tired and apathetic about everything. Think I'm just over-tired, as I had an early night last night and got 9 hours of sleep, which felt really good. A few more early nights should sort me out I think. I've also started taking a multi-vit/mineral - I know they are mostly a route to expensive (and bright yellow) pee, but figured it couldn't hurt.

On the positive side, I've got meals sorted for this week, and have scheduled some time on Saturday to plan for next week. I'm going to make a better attempt at eating breakfast - it's becoming harder for me to guarantee a lunch break, and a 24hr fast does nothing for my weightloss or mood. I'm not a natural breakfast eater, but my thinner friends all eat it, and my fat friends don't - so based entirely on anecdotal evidence and a tiny sample size, I'm going to try it and see if I can emulate the skinny brigade Wink.

That's enough waffle from me. Hope you're all doing well - it's nearly the long weekend, halle-bloody-lujah!

I couldn't cope without breakfast. It's fine as a one off but I need to eat!

moonlight1705 · 25/05/2018 11:44

Well I think I have completely mucked this week up! Its coming up to AF time and I have got the munchies so badly so I think tomorrow's weigh in may not be great.

Still next week is another week to give it a go. Sad

fezzesarecool · 25/05/2018 11:50

Yeah I hate Af time too, I put on around 6 pounds which I carry until I finish and find it so frustrating as it masks what my weight loss is.

It’s very hard to power through, I know the scales isn’t the only thing to go by but it’s what I like to use.

AnotherOtter · 25/05/2018 11:51

I am having another weight loss stall I think. Weight didn't move much at all in March but I started Couch25K and went back to around a pound a week in April. I am feeling downhearted about it and worried that I won't be able to eat a decent amount at all when it comes to maintenance. I have had two medication changes this month though which could well be contributing. One a reduction in a drug that increases weight and the other a reduction in thyroxine (for under active thyroid) which will slow my metabolic rate. I was so pleased looking at my MFP weight graph in April and now it just makes me feel frustrated. I dipped into a normal BMI last Sunday but not seen it since. Sorry for the moan, I am too impatient and should be grateful for how much easier my life is now with things like being able to buy clothes in any shop and, so far this year, no street harassment.

Notanurse, how you heard anymore about a date for your gallbladder? Great NSVs with clothes fitting and the lovely walks with your daughter Smile

Honey, that's great news about the family. Long may it last!

Tractors, hope you have caught up with rest and that has helped Thanks I'm a big fan of breakfast and it's very rare for me to miss a day. In fact, I'm not sure I have ever missed breakfast. I'm pretty sedated in the morning so only have easy things that don't require manual dexterity. At the moment I have overnight oats which fits the bill and is pretty filling for me.

AnotherOtter · 25/05/2018 11:54

Crosspost. Moonlight, don't despair yet as that will just increase the fuck its. Can you draw a line under the extras and start again from lunch? Keep the heid, as the say around here.

PostNotInHaste · 25/05/2018 16:34

Just popping in very quickly as soon the last few posts. Firstly Otter huge congratulations for a normal BMI, that is such a big achievement and you’re the first on the thread to have seen it even if only briefly! Hang in there, every says the last few pounds are the hardest and you’ve got the medication issues as well. I think when things level out you will be able to eat a decent amount. Unfortunately at this point with small losses they tend to vanish in day to day weight fluctuations.

Moonlight I’m sure we can all relate to AF and the munchies. As Otter said, no despairing- it’s one week that hasn’t gone as you liked, it doesn’t undo the rest and it’s unlikely to be the last time you do it. The key here is KOKO, you can absolutely do this.

Crisis next door early this morning so too knackered to write more, back over weekemd. Day ending on much better note than it started thank goodness.

nicknamehelp · 25/05/2018 16:45

Yesterday didn't go to plan. Dds nurse visited her at school whete I had got her finally after nearly 2 weeks for her to call me to say she's not happy with her and needs to see consultant ASAP. So she is on even more drugs and my stress levels are sky high. As a result I over did the carbs and skippedthe gym. Any how today is another day and I've koko and had a quick workout.

Not sure we'll get hol now as Dds health needs to improve which is the most important thing. I feel more sorry for my d's.

Not a nurse. I don't think people who work in hospitals realise people have lives.

fezzesarecool · 26/05/2018 08:53

Start 278

Last week 217
Week 14 Exercise Week 10 Calorie counting
This week 217

Week loss sts
Total loss -60

Goal 136
Left 83
Start 142

Just a quick check in, sts because of Af (at least I hope so!)

moonlight1705 · 26/05/2018 08:55

Miracle!! I actually still lost weight this week. I didn't get into a 'sod it' frame of mind.

Loss: 0.8lb
Total: 12.8

Hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday.

PostNotInHaste · 26/05/2018 13:01

Well done Nickname, getting back on track excellent. I hope the Consultant can get her sorted ASAP.

Moonlight, that is so important not getting to sod it point and key to long term success.

Fezzes am sure it was due to AF. A STS excellent in circumstances.

I’ve lost AF weight from last week plus a bit more. Total now 102.5lb loss with 7.5lb to go if I can be bothered to lose them as quite happy really where I am. I’ve been eating at maintenance for a few months now pretty much and am finding I am somehow losing a couple of pounds a month overall though very up and down on a weekly basis. Assumably my Fitbit is underestimating calorie burn I think by about 10% so will keep plodding as I am and see what happens,

nicknamehelp · 26/05/2018 16:18

Been a good day today.

honeysucklejasmine · 26/05/2018 17:02

It's my birthday weekend. Doing ok calorie counting! Just made a chocolate cake, it's 4400cals for the cake, so will cut it in to lots of pieces! 😂

Kikidelivers · 26/05/2018 17:37

Sorry not been back. It’s been a full on week.

The amazing news is that I stepped on scales this morning and I have lost 3 pounds in 6 days! For me that is a huge achievement.

And it’s not even been a hardship, which is why I’m excited. I upped my walking to 8000 minimum per day. I’ve had three huge meals a day. Absolutely loaded with veg. My snack has been two carrots with an extra light dairleee.

I’ve not felt hungry and TMI no constipation!

I’m feeling very positive.

honeysucklejasmine · 26/05/2018 21:00

Well done Kiki, that's amazing!

Cake cut in to 16 pieces. 😊

Kikidelivers · 27/05/2018 06:23

Honeysuckle good on you! Was it tasty?

I’m off out for a run. I use that word in the loosest sense of its meaning.

What has really helped is loading my plate with veg. Means that I still feel nice and satisfied after lunch and dinner (for breakfast I had porridge made with water and fat free Greek yoghurt). Not roasted veg or slathered in butter veg. Just steamed veg. Tasty, yes! As tasty as when covered in oil and roasted? No, but about 500 calories less!

ChestyNut · 27/05/2018 09:08

Loss- 2lbs
Total - 52lbs 12oz
To lose- 57lbs 4oz

Went swimming this week, could barely move with back pain the day after Hmm

notanurse hope you get a suitable date quickly for surgery.

Kiki well done for making a start Star

Honey happy birthday! Enjoy the cake.

Post amazing weight loss, how long had it taken you?

Moonlight the “sod it” moments were a huge issue for me, I seem to be doing better Smile

nickname hope DD is ok? Stress is a huge trigger for most of us.

Anotherotter excellent work on the BMI.
I’ve noticed my weight loss has slowed recently.

Tractors I struggle with breakfast too. On work days I try to make sure I have a piece of fruit, I do notice if I miss it I’m fantasising about chocolate and crap by 11am.

Hope everyone has a good week Flowers
