Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

No way! That has to be hormones, do they normally mess with your fluid retention? Really well done on 5 good days, that's fab and they really do count. (If not hormones, only other grasping at straw idea is checking your salt level as if it's higher it will make you retain fluid? I avoid salty stuff before weigh in Grin )

AnotherOtter · 04/05/2018 09:16

That sounds like broken scales. Uneven floor? Dud battery? No wonder you are pissed off Thanks

nicknamehelp · 04/05/2018 09:27

I hope something not right there. Either scales need new battery or it's those pesky hormones I easily put that on with mine. See it as a blip if overall trend is down that is the main thing.

Sun is shining here so once house is scrubbed top to bottom I'm going to attack the garden noticed weeds have taken over again!

Going to do run 2 of week 1 in the morning. Trying to keep it secret from dh as he does the Park run every week and once I'm trained up I want to join him one week as a surprise!

BreakingSad · 04/05/2018 09:49

Don't let it discourage you Lego as others have said sounds like something not right Thanks

That would be a good surprise Nick and something to aim for, I've just completed Week 7, so keep going.

I'm 2lb down after what feels like weeks maintaining, but it helped and I did need it, now to let let it go at the weekend.

To lose 113
Lost to date 58
Left to date 55
Lost this week 2

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 04/05/2018 12:07

Unfortunately the scales seem fine (New and matched DM weight from doctors this morning).

I’m not going to lie, I’m really bloody cross!

Salt and water retention might be an issue (grasping at straws here Wink) but man I’m so disappointed!!

Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend! I think I’m going to have to forgoe my beer garden plan for Monday! Angry 😩

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2018 19:50

Don't be too disheartened Lego - it's bound to come right at some point.

Well done Breaking!

Such a lovely night here - I'm going to see some friends tomorrow, so taking time to relax tonight. I'm shattered! New job has got better, but still not totally convinced it's for me...we shall see.

Hope you're all having a peaceful evening!

I think I'm on my period. Hard to tell with coil fuckery going on. But I'm retaining weight like buggery so am hopeful that I might meet my 3 stone lost mini-goal on Sunday but I'm not sure.

Lego you've had a good week. It's a shame the scales are fucking you about but be proud of the choices you made.

Breaking well done on your loss!

AnotherOtter that was an epic post! Impressive!

Nickname well done on your run. Small steps will cover the distance in time.

moonlight1705 · 05/05/2018 08:03

Feeling really happy this week Smile. After a week of being really careful with counting calories and doing essentially a 5:2 diet I've lost 2kg.

Loss this week: 4.5lb
Total loss: 10lb
Loss to go: 110

I tried the low calorie day thinking that being hungry would be awful but its a strange feeling that I haven't often had and knowing I had lovely meals on other days helped.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 05/05/2018 08:06

Well done moonlight!

I'm down 1lb - was hoping for another one, but that will do!

Lost this week: 1 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 49 lbs
Left to lose: 75 lbs

Well done all on losses.

Not a good day today as hosting a dinner party pud alone is pushing 800 cals a portion but I've tried to be under every day this week to compensate.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/05/2018 19:41

nickname well done for being aware of it. Let's face it, we're all/were so big that if we go back to eating without regard then we'll all gain weight again. However, we also can't spend our whole lives never indulging ever again. It's about knowing when we require a step back-big picture-compensate for the rest of the week sort of outlook.

I think the scales will STS tomorrow. I'll be annoyed, but hey, that's life. I'm going to carry on and it'll come off eventually.

Question... Does MFP evaluate your calorie allowance downwards as you lose weight? Or do I need to force it by changing my goal per week loss and then putting it back again?

ScaredPAD · 06/05/2018 09:17

That sounds sensible advice honey.
I keep getting overwhelmed at threads saying that once you're morbidly obese it's near impossible to lose and then think of this thread and remind myself to koko as you say. I am getting so anxious.

I have 2 bbqs this weekend. Last night I didn't properly binge but I did eat more than I'd planned. Tomorrow I need to go with A Plan. And today I have an all-you-can-eat buffet for a birthday. I feel I'm 2 weeks in and being tested.

Yesterday I planned what I would eat but still ate an extra sausage and picked at crisps after :(

Today I think I want to take a plate and just choose healthy looking food. I know they do do precut frutit etc. But the temptation is to try all the different foods ...

ChestyNut · 06/05/2018 09:18

ScaredPAD · 06/05/2018 09:21

Wow chesty that's fantastic!!! Over half way. I'm celebrating here with you :)

AnotherOtter · 06/05/2018 09:41

Loss this week: 1.2lbs
Total loss: 89.4lbs
To go: 11.6lbs

Good week for me. Completed week three of Couch25K which I think has restarted my weight loss. Is it possible that it has reduced my appetite? I'm not feeling hungry much which is great.

Congratulations Chesty on reaching 50lbs off and halfway! Star

Are you calling me verbose, Honey? Moi? Grin I don't think MFP does automatically recalculate your calorie allowance based on your weight.

Well done, Moonlight, sounds like 5:2 really suits you. It's great when plans click.

Scared, I know what you mean when you read the threads talking about the chances of losing weight and keeping it off. It is depressing to dwell on it. I tell myself that it's still a very young science and there is a lot of misinformation out there (some deliberately so in order to sell diet plans, etc). I can only do my best just now on the information that I have. Good luck with your BBQs. Keep trying to make better choices even if things aren't 'perfect' though I know it's hard.

ChestyNut · 06/05/2018 10:00

Thanks scared and otter Grin
Feels great

BreakingSad · 06/05/2018 10:50

Huge Well done Chesty and well done to everyone, we're certainly a bunch of losers this week.

AnotherOtter it does suppress my appetite when I workout and well done on Week 3

Beautiful day here, been for my first outside bike ride this year, 6 miles with a cuppa halfway at my mums. The sunshine is definitely helping my motivation.

Have a good Sunday everyone

honeysucklejasmine · 06/05/2018 12:05

Chesty! Amazing! Huge well done!

AnotherOtter no, not at all verbose. 😇

Where's Post?

I'm also celebrating today!

Loss this week: 1.5lbs
Total loss: 42.25lbs ( 3 stone! )
Loss to go: 60.5lbs

I met my first interim target, my second was to be another 4lbs down (making me 16.0) in two weeks time. Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 06/05/2018 12:13

Scared good choices. Yes, you could have a spoon of potato salad. But you could probably have a whole plate of actual salad for less calories. If I were you, I'd ignore most carbs. So have all the salad, veggies, crudités etc. Try to stick to whole cuts of protein - chicken breast, steak, fish. Avoid bread rolls and processed meat. I'd still have one sneaky hot dog, but just one and then otherwise stick to the rules. Fill your plate with healthy nibbles and tell yourself you are not to have crisps etc until you've eaten all of the healthy bits. Then hopefully you'll be fuller, and you'll have had the snacking feeling without eating too many "bad" snacks.

nicknamehelp · 06/05/2018 14:30

Some good loses this week.

I still haven't lost any but hoping once I get going at the gym it will kick start it. I am being v strict on c.c so it's got to start coming off at some point.

Currently sat in garden while dh cooks a bbq I've done a huge salad and so I will fill plate with that.

PostNotInHaste · 07/05/2018 08:02

Morning all ! Thanks for asking after me Honeysuckle, I’ve not been feeling well for a bit the finally went down with a lurgy at the weekend and have eaten loads in my misery so a healthy week needed for me. I think the stress of DD and partner living here and being so uncertain about where they will end up next year is getting to me and house feeling a touch crowded. Onwards and upwards and all that though. Well done on the loss, 3 stone and a baby is absolutely brilliant.

Chesty bloody well done you Grin

AnotherOtter that is brilliant. It suppresses my appetite without a shadow of a doubt.

Notanurse well done and I do think you should complain re the lost. My Dad was told recently that the cataract list was closed, his optician kicked off for him and he’s now on it though currently 6 to 9 months.

Well done Tractors 50lbs very much in sight for you now !

Moonlight I find the hunger aspect of the 5.2 useful as it helps me the rest of the time. However my gallbladderless body doesn’t like the 5.2 so I try to do overnight fasts for the health benefits

Nickname that would be great to join your DH! If you have vcut back on the other days your dinner party will have been fine. At least you are doing it the sensible way and cut back before rather than needing to do it after !

BreakingSad well done on the loss plus week 7, how does it feel to be able to run that far?

Lego hang in there, something isn’t right. Have you got a tape measure ? Take some measurements .

ScaredPAD I know what you mean about the other threads. I find the success threads on My Fitness Pal reassuring. I think there is a question mark about the research showing regain rates that suggest it isn’t accurate.

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone. I don’t think @Fezzesarecool has been back and hope she is ok. Really proud of this thread, I think we’ve all made massive progress on our mindsets and it’s lovely seeing how our lives are changing with bike rides, walks and running featuring much more.

B1rdonawire · 07/05/2018 08:11

Well, other things may have gone to pot this week, but the scales have moved:
3lbs off today
Total loss 4 stone / 56 lbs

It has taken me a lot longer to conquer this 4th stone than it felt like it did with the earlier ones. Hoping finally getting it will give me a mind boost to crack on and keep going. This number is the goal the GP set me for a year, and that was 11 months ago. Must give it a few more lbs then book a weight check with the nurse, as the home scales moments are done wearing not quite enough clothes to replicate in public!
if these temps continue I may sweat the next lbs off So warm here this weekend it may even be time to swap veg soups for salads, but let's not be hasty Wink

Well done all losers and persisters! AnotherOtter I'm about to start week 3 of C25k - is it really hard? Have enjoyed the first two weeks, to my surprise. Running in rain much easier than in heat though!

PostNotInHaste · 07/05/2018 08:17

Well done B1rd that is great ! Running in heat is hard, agree. Trust that the program works, keep it nice and slow and week 3 will be fine. Any days not gone to plan are practice days and we all get treacle leg days, this is I believe normal if it happens !
