Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Honey- I'm also interested in how the mirena is going I had mine fitted last week on advice of gyne consultant to try and help my periods but I'm worried it won't help my weight loss and will aggregate my depression/anxiety.

BreakingSad · 12/04/2018 21:30

AnotherOtter I'm doing a lot better thanks and feeling more in control on maintenance. I've been under my calories on maintenance this week, but will do next week at maintenance too, just to ease back into the swing of things with a little less pressure.

Honey I made the Hairy Dieters Turkey burgers, they were delicious and a big hit with DH, I'll definitely be making them again. Thanks for the inspiration.

honeysucklejasmine · 13/04/2018 09:20

Breaking we're having them this week too. Grin I'm looking forward to it. We had nachos last night. Mine was dairy free obviously so just crisps, onion, tomato, seasoned pork mince, salsa and guacamole. But it was yummy. Cheese would have been a great addition but I wasn't really missing it, there was enough going on. Came in about 800 cals because I had a massive decent serving and plenty of guacamole to make up for lack of dairy.

AnotherOtter, Nick the coil... Well I no longer have the urge to reach in and grab it out myself. I do still plan on having it removed though. I'm needing a pad every day which is annoying. I got over the terrible PMS so will see if that comes back at all between now and the 6 week check.

I think, if it doesn't and the bleeding stops, I might consider keeping it in. I've got my gynaecology appointment in June so will be going through my long term options then. Since I last saw a consultant I've had two children, so things are likely to be quite different in there now! I mean... If I can avoid radical hysterectomy then great, but also... I've assumed I would need one for so long now that it's weird to even consider not having it.

Weight loss wise, since having it fitted, I had a 2lb loss, a STS and then a 2lb loss again. This week I'm hoping to lose another 2lbs, and if I do I think it's ok to assume that whilst it did initially stall my weight loss, I've overcome it. Of course if the PMS comes back with associated lack of weight loss I won't be happy at all.

Yesterday we went to our local nature reserve with a friend, who also has a toddler. (Actually, we met on the conception forum of MN was back in 2015 and have found ourselves now living quite close to each other.) Lots of tantrums from both girls but we had a nice day and plenty of walking (and pushchair pushing) so got my exercise up. Potentially going for a walk this morning with my neighbour but it is very cold here.

DH is away tonight and tomorrow for his friend's birthday, so my mum is coming to stay with me and the kids. (Bedtime isn't possible alone!)

Nobeachbody · 13/04/2018 18:39

Hello ladies, hope you have all had a good week, and racked up lots of lovely losses.
I am feeling rather fed up, somehow I've managed to GAIN 3 ruddy pounds. I had friends to stay last weekend, and went out for dinner, and ate a few things I probably shouldn't have done, but even so, I wouldn't have thought I deserved to gain 3lbs. It's all such a struggle, but rather than throw in the towel as I would have done, I have just wearily clambered back on the wagon and continued to eat sensibly today. Onwards and upwards. Or should that be downwards?

Hope the rest of you have done a bit better than me!

nicknamehelp · 13/04/2018 20:39

Oh dear just pigged out big time on Dominoes. Wasn't even really hungry 😣

Moonandstars84 · 13/04/2018 21:01

I have had rubbish couple of days. Ie ate loads of rubbish food so absentmindedly I couldn't even log it.
Can't wait till the kids go back to school and I can get back into a routine.

PostNotInHaste · 14/04/2018 06:39

Went for another maintenance week this week and somehow have lost 1.75lb so nearly back to where I was. Not sure how that has happened exactly but won’t look a gift horse in the mouth and all that.

Total loss 98lb
To lose 12lb

About to read back through thread but can see people have been struggling. Huge sympathies, it is very hard but please hang in there, it’s doable and you will feel so much better once more comes off. We found there was a collective thread dip both times the clocks change and this time there’s also Easter and a two week change of routine for most of us. Whatever has happened absolutely does not matter in the scheme of things. Draw a line and KOKO.

If you are struggling then do maintenance for a few weeks. It’s a hugely valuable tool to use whilst losing weight and great practice for the end game.

PostNotInHaste · 14/04/2018 07:07

NoBeachBody it’s undigested food and fluid. Frustrating but it will shift, hang in there.

Moonandstars, they are nearly back, draw that line.

Nicknamehelp it’s just a pizza, no beating yourself up about it . Write it down and see how much you went over if you did then draw a line or compensate the next few days, whichever you feel more comfortable. Just reading back on the thread and see you were thinking about doing SW but decided on cc. My slight issue with SW is it’s quite difficult to work in things like Dominos and they fall under suns. Which I know Is short for synergy but in my head it created good and bad foods and I was either on or off plan and it led to the oh shit i’ve Blown it, might as well eat more and try again tomorrow thing which i’ve Had to work on to over come.

CC has helped hugely for me as I’ve realised I can use it to mimic my thin friends. Who as it turns out don’t seem to be thin with no effort but actually work at staying that way but they don’t say that to their fat friends. There was a group of us and one is thin and athletic. Another was moaning about her weight and said to thin friend it was ok for her as she’s so thin. Thin friend sort of snapped that actually I work , then shut up. I’m pretty sure she was about to say she works hard to maintain that.

Once I realised that I realised that cc is a very helpful tool. I use it in different ways. Either go lighter on 2 meals a day to fit in a larger one or save up some calories over a few days. Occasionally on a Sunday I’ve eaten twice as much as I’ve burned off but it doesn’t worry me as I know I can compensate during the week.

Honeysucklejasmine that’s great that things have settled down a bit with the coil and well done on the losses. I’m trying to avoid a hysterectomy at the moment, fingers crossed for both of us.

BreakinSad glad this week has been better. Next week at maintenance is a good plan, do it for as long as you need to. I think a good couple of weeks of maintenance at least every couple of months really helps. There’s evidence it reset grehlin and kept in levels I think and is probably something we should all do fairly regularly when we’re losing this amount of weight.

AnotherOtter my appetite varies hugely with my hormone levels. You are right, flexibility and waiting it out is the key.

NoTractors i’m Not up for fish gutting personally I must say! Not keen on fish full stop really which is a pain as so good for you.

Sorry, i’ve missed a few people.

PostNotInHaste · 14/04/2018 07:18

Without meaning to sound smug can I just say that my weight loss has been pretty life changing. I do things now I never thought I would do. Not dreading summer anywhere so much (if we ever have one) and not having to worry about fitting into seats etc is lovely. Clothes shopping is so much easier and I hate it less. Thought seeing size 10 in the label was an impossibility but I can fit my arse inti the larger ones. And turns out I don’t have thunder thighs as my Mum told me plus my arse is actually fairly small, who knew !

It is a long hard slog to get there but the time goes anyway and the half pound here and there add up over time. I’m still not at the top end of my BMI, 12lbs to go but the difference to my life is massive and has been for a fair bit now. The biggest thing is KOKO, keep on keeping on and accepting that although there is an end goal weight wise, being conscious about what you eat goes on for ever , it’s just how it is now. Bit of a pain but the benefits outweigh it hugely.

AnotherOtter · 14/04/2018 08:02

Honey, sounds like there a lot of different aspects to consider with your coil. Much to weigh up. You sounded so upset when it stalled your weight loss so hope that doesn't happen again. Hope the other symptoms settle down soon too Thanks

Nobeach, as Post says, that 3lb gain is the bulk of extra food, salt causing water retention and extra carbohydrates filling up your glycogen stores again. Temporary bloat, basically. It will be off in the next few days. Well done for not getting derailed and KOKO.

Nickname and Moon, do you know why you were eating despite not being hungry? Were you looking for comfort and soothing of emotions? That's a big reason for me. I remind myself that I can find other ways to comfort myself. I don't think saying "no, no food, no comfort eating!" works long term as that need for comfort has to be met somehow. "Self-care" seems to be the current term for comforting/looking after yourself and googling that gives lots of ideas.

Well done on your accidental loss, Post Grin I am a stone behind you but I agree that the large weight loss is revolutionary. The change in my physical fitness has made the biggest difference to me. Even stuff like cleaning or putting the shopping away is so much easier let alone running after kids.

Yesterday I finally went through my clothes and had a cull. I have been ordering new clothes online and despite being a good way from my target weight, I have decided to buy three decent quality outfits to rotate. The amount of choice I have is bizarre after being a 24-26. A bit overwhelming but I'm lurking on Style & Beauty and picking up tips. I have kept some of my larger clothes and packed them away. I know folk say that means you aren't committed to keeping the weight off but I think it is more being practical as I simply don't have the money to buy new wardrobes, especially bras. It feels very weird spending all this money on myself. I think I used the weight as an excuse to neglect myself.

fezzesarecool · 14/04/2018 08:03

Just a quick check in

Start 278

Last week 238
Week 8 Exercise Week 5 Calorie counting
This week 235

Week loss -3
Total loss -43

Hopefully will hit the 50 loss next week and got a longer goal of getting to 216 to reach the next bmi category

I had the Dr’s yesterday for having a tooth extraction under sedation and it was very satisfying to see my BMI change from the last time I was there.

I’m now considering getting a full length mirror, something we have next had in this house since we moved in 7 years ago. I’ve gone from avoiding mirrors to scrutinising different parts of my body as I’ve lost my tape measure.

My tummy seems to be collapsing in from the sides with a great big bump in the middle lol and I think I’m starting to see a difference in difinition to the top of my leg/under my butt, there’s a bit of a curve rather that straight down like cankles and the lumps at the sides of my calf’s have now gone.

TMI, sorry! Will definitely have to get a proper mirror.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. And great to hear about your progress post, it’s great motivation to hear from others down the mountain.

fezzesarecool · 14/04/2018 08:04

Sorry I meant hit the 45 loss, 50’s very unrealistic for a week!

AnotherOtter · 14/04/2018 08:15

Nobeach, attached is a graph of my weight over the last month showing my 4lb gain and loss after two days of overeating plus two days of maintenance. This has happened to me several times but still creates a bit of a wobble in my head.

Well done on your loss, Fezzes. You are going at some rate! How much are you eating, if you don't mind me asking? Good luck with your tooth extraction Thanks

fezzesarecool · 14/04/2018 08:43

Thanks Otter I’m on 1610 a day sometimes I go up to1800 or just under 2000 as it’s still Easter holidays so harder to plan.

I’ve played around with mfp and I think its definitely adding in exercise that’s helping. So I’ve been completeling the diary without exercise and then with exercise. It shows 12 pound difference on the 5 week predicted loss with exercise so a extra 2 pounds a week.

I only count my actual exercise and not my daily activities as in the school run walk, or retail standing.

I’m doing a hour and a half cardio and strength low impact 5 day’s and 30 a 45 minutes 2 day’s a week. Although I really really want to do a class of some kind but I was checking those class out online and I haven’t got a fitness level to keep up yet.

I did see I think it was Jessica Smith on you tube that looks like it would be the next level for me so I’m planning to do a swap to that in a few weeks.

Tooth extraction probably won’t happen for months but thanks. I’m such a baby, told them 100% have to be knocked out for it!

fezzesarecool · 14/04/2018 08:46

Oh I’m looking forward in the future to having more clothing choice like you! I’m working up the courage to book a personal shopper at Debenhams Lakeside for June time and hopefully a size 20 by then.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/04/2018 08:49

Good morning everyone! Down 2lbs this week - probably all that effort gutting the damn fish (my kitchen will never be the same again, but the cat is delighted...enough on that subject!)

Lost this week: 2 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 47 lbs
Left to lose: 77 lbs

I feel like I've been staring at the same numbers for a while, but it is creeping down.

My energy levels have had such a boost recently, so i'm holding on to that as far as possible. My ancient trainers have been replaced with lightweight 'fitness walking' ones from Decathlon to encourage me to get out with them. Something about my old trainers used to make me feel like I was lumbering about in them, so these have put a spring in my step! I'll add ones more suitable for running when I get to that stage, but I've been told that these will give enough support for starting off C25K and gentle jogging.

I want to develop the consistency of getting my arse out of bed to exercise - the early morning starts are hard but I feel so much better when I do it, and it's going to be so worth it. I'm a bit rubbish when it comes to doing stuff X number of times per week, but if I develop a routine where it's just something I do daily, I stick to it, because it's just something I do, if you see what I mean?

Anyway, that's enough of a ramble from me - apologies for not namechecking everyone but hope you all have a good Saturday, and if you feel like you're faltering, please read the excellent advice from Post and Another above. KOKO!

fezzesarecool · 14/04/2018 09:13

Definitely agree with you about the exercise Tractors, it’s now become habit/something I do.

If Icant do it in the morning, like when baby’s changed up his naps I feel like I’m itching to do something. The wake up walk is always 100% best effort but I feel good just attempting it.

In awe of the couch to 5k! I can’t imagine doing that. Great loss, I’ve been following you from the old threads and for you and other I find it inspiring how you’ll all kept at it and come so far.

What happend to the person who wanted to lose weight for her wedding? Kids keep interrupting my reading!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/04/2018 10:37

Ha, well fezzes I haven't quite started C25K yet - I think I need to build up the courage first!

As for keeping going, I know I have to post on here every 3 days at least, or it disappears from my Threads I'm On - and as I followed this thread from the original OP who started the first thread (as did a few others), I feel weirdly responsible for making sure it keeps going Grin

Well done on all the losses this week and the total losses.

Ta for welcoming me and the support.

Yesterdsys c have all been entered on mfp and it was a scary number. Made me realise just how much I have been over eating. Yesterday was due to being bored/lonely as currently stuck at home recovering from an op. Dh had to go out last night after work so day felt never ending. I had also agreed d's 14 could have a sleep over and I got carried away with the order 😣 any way today is a new day and I am going to attempt a walk round the block- not left the house in 10 days!

moonlight1705 · 14/04/2018 11:01

Loss this week: 1.5lb
Total loss: 5.5lb

Happy with my loss this week, just been entering the calories faithfully. It has been good to get back into the routine after Easter so perhaps it is all starting to slowly work.

My exercise today had been out in the garden finally, planting up potatoes, carrots and more onions.

Well done everyone on your lovely losses.

PostNotInHaste · 14/04/2018 12:11

Agree AnotherOtter, it is a bit overwhelming and takes some adjusting to. Weird but in a good way!

Fezzes you are going some there, well done !

Moonlight what a lovely sight all those raised beds. Digging is great exercise. Well done on the loss.

Great stuff Tractors, the pounds adding up nicely. Don’t overthink C25K. If things don’t go to plan then it’s a practice run. A lot of people repeat runs and weeks but it really does work. Can’t stress how slowly you want to go at the start, walkers will be over taking you.

It’s about a year that I started it I think. I’d starting losing weight 6 months before that and puffed going up the stairs. Looked at my Fitbit today and was really pleased with the figures, going to post them below. It really is a case of if I can get fit then anyone can. It’s been a standing joke since childhood about my exercise dodging tendencies Grin

PostNotInHaste · 14/04/2018 12:13

My VO Max score and resting heart rate. I suspect Fitbit not particularly but it does give a rough idea.

Some truly excellent posts here, thank you everyone for your insight and inspiration.

Yesterday marked a NSV for me. I live on a new housing development and have struck up a friendship with my neighbour who also has a baby. Yesterday, I text and suggested we go for a walk. Which we duly did - she's an avid walker anyway so she was more than happy. I couldn't have imagined voluntarily suggesting a walk even a few months ago. Let alone on a grizzly overcast day, pushing a double pushchair. But I had a lovely time and we're going to repeat the venture regularly. She's a semi-local so knows the area well. We live in the foothills of the Cotswolds so plenty to explore!

Moonandstars84 · 14/04/2018 12:35

Hi. Well my last two days don't seem to have had much effect. I think I ate because I was bored and it was there. At least my Easter Egg is gone.
So week 7 lost 3 pounds somehow
Starting weight 226 pounds
Now 208 pounds and 14 stone 12 yeah another new 1st number
18 pounds lost
89 pounds to go
Well done to losers and don't worry about the blip as post and others say it happens.
Looking forward to doing some decent exercise next week. Want to start couch to 5k soon.

fezzesarecool · 14/04/2018 18:02

So taking the wellness program up a notch and invested in lotions and potions

Also got some motivational weight loss stickers for my fitness planner
