Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus... - Part 4

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/03/2018 21:12

Hello, welcome to the fourth instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus …’ thread Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the previous threads are here: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

Collectively, we’ve lost 869 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing! Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

What a great idea nothing like a sticker to inspire

honeysucklejasmine · 14/04/2018 19:52

The links don't work for me I'm afraid - it wants me to log in and I don't have an account. What should I search to find the Etsy shop?

honeysucklejasmine · 14/04/2018 19:54

Looked closer at your photo and found them

Do they really say "none scale victory" rather than "non"? Grin

fezzesarecool · 14/04/2018 21:11

Sorry the links didn’t work, lol you made me check now mine say Non

I was brave and went into the gymophobics today but unfortunately they don’t do pay as you go 😟 such a shame as if I could go on a Saturday while dd’s at her club it would be perfect. But proud I went in there

fezzesarecool · 15/04/2018 08:31

Just found this website for clothing size

sizes.darkgreener.com

Apparently if you put in your measurements it’s gives you the sizes across all the clothing brands, thought it might be handy although height and build obviously matter too.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/04/2018 09:22

Interesting link fezzes will try it out in a bit! and will buy those stickers

It's a gorgeous morning here, so I'm off out for a walk. Every window is open (we're not on the ground floor btw!) and everything feels fresh and spring-like.

Brace yourself....

Loss this week- 5lbs 4oz off ShockGrin
Total loss/ 48lbs 12oz
To lose- 51lbs 4oz

1lb 12oz to half way!

Am so pleased!

Congrats to all the losers and we’ll done to those who are struggling but still here regardless Star

Moonandstars84 · 15/04/2018 09:57

Brilliant chesty. Well done

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/04/2018 09:57

Wow Chesty! That's fab! Star

Got distracted by cleaning the bathroom (what a loser...) so I'm off out for my walk now clear the bleach fumes

honeysucklejasmine · 15/04/2018 10:09

Wow Chesty! Amazing work! Just shows that KOKO is important even if you feel like throwing in the towel.

I am 2lbs down this week.
Lost to date: 37lbs
To lose: 65lbs

I'd like to set an interim target, a small one, as I haven't done so so far.

So, it's 3 weeks to my husband's birthday party, and 6 weeks to mine.

I'm currently 16st9lb, so... I'd like to be 16st0lb by my birthday, which is 9lbs. So...

By DH's party: 5lbs lost, 16st4lbs (3 stone loss total)
By my birthday: 9lbs lost, 16st0lbs

I've put the weighting to DH's event, so if I miss it I can hopefully catch up for the second target.

nicknamehelp · 15/04/2018 10:55

Some great losses.
Honey - I'm also trying to break it down current goal is 10lb off by the end of May and holiday. And another 10 off by the summer hols. Then 20 off by Christmas. So in theory 40lb by Christmas in total and as a treat a sexy Christmas dress 🎅

Moonandstars84 · 15/04/2018 11:06

Good loss too honeyI am setting mini goals in by head based on holidays. We are going away May half term and I would like to be 14 stone 4 by than. It has a nice ring to it. So 8lbS off.
Seems less daunting that the massive figure I still have to lose.

AnotherOtter · 15/04/2018 11:26

Loss over last two weeks: 1.2lbs
Total loss: 86lbs
To go: 15lbs

Very pleased with the 1.2lbs loss from a fortnight back as it was via a 4lb gain from my shenanigans. Been eating less carbs and more fat and protein with the same calorie budget and so feeling less hungry. Actually went seven hours between an early breakfast and a late lunch and was fine. Normally I get hangry. It's interesting how different foods affect you.

Fezzes, I think a personal shopper sounds like a great idea. It'll be a good reward for your hard work.

Tractors, I'm the same with the difficulty in doing things a certain number of times per week as opposed to just doing them every day. My brain seems to accept something better if I say to it that there are no excuses, it just has to be done and not pushed to another day. A bit of all-or-nothing thinking probably in my case. Good luck with the early morning starts.

Nickname, hope you got your walk round the block. Learning to get back on the wagon after a misstep is an important skill and it takes practice so KOKO.

Your raised beds look fantastic, Moonlight! You have a put a lot of work in and it's going to be worth it with all the fresh produce.

Very impressive screenshot there, Post. You should be very proud of yourself.

Well done everyone on their losses, some great ones this week. Great idea to set interim goals. I will think on that too.

PostNotInHaste · 15/04/2018 12:08

Brilliant Chesty ! I have read this can happen after a period of maintenance which is why some people recommend breaks every couple of months or so.

Well done Honeyjasmine, good idea to have goals as long as you don’t feel pressured by them.

Good loss AnotherOtter I’ve noticed different things effect me differently but find my hormones play a role in cravings too so muddled along depending how I feel.

I think it sounds like collective thread dip now officially over so I can stop my cheesy and annoying trying to be inspirational stuff Grin

Very active day yesterday and apparently burned off 3086 calories. A sedentary day is about 1735 cals, massive difference and seeing it like that does encourage me to keep activity levels up, though very tired today.

ChestyNut · 15/04/2018 17:03

Can we have a list of top weight loss tips for people with a lot to lose? 2 top tips each?
Mine would be.....

no eating after evening meal
if you eat one thing off plan, do not think you’ve ruined the day/week/month...KOKO

honeysucklejasmine · 15/04/2018 17:29

Erm, let's think...

  1. Be totally honest with your food diary. Don't lie to yourself about what you ate.
  1. Don't get obsessed by the big picture. Focus on the change you can make today. ("Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves"?)
NoTractorsAtTheTable · 15/04/2018 17:44
  1. Just keep fucking going! You didn't get fat overnight, you aren't going to shift it overnight.
  1. Don't wait for the 'right' time to start - just start now. Putting it off until the kids are sorted, the house is tidy, work is less manic etc etc, means you're automatically downgrading the importance of this before you start. So just start. Do anything, have an extra glass of water with your meals, have one less spoonful of dinner and build from there.
OP posts:
nicknamehelp · 15/04/2018 18:31

1 treat yourself non good wise - flowers, massage, facial

2 take pictures in same outfit and same pose so can see the difference

AnotherOtter · 15/04/2018 18:35
  1. If you want to comfort eat then ask yourself what other forms of comfort you could give yourself instead that would be just as effective (or even more so).
  1. Try out different ways of eating like three big meals with no snacks versus three small meals with planned snacks and see which suits you better. Be willing to experiment with different types of food too (fat satiates me and protein plus fibre keeps me feeling full). You don't have to be perfect and know everything at the start.
Moonandstars84 · 15/04/2018 19:06

Exercise

Moonandstars84 · 15/04/2018 19:07

My others already covered.

moonlight1705 · 15/04/2018 19:31

Great tips from everyone

  1. Don't be afraid to have what you want but keep it in proportion....instead of a full chips have a cone of chips.
  1. Cook from fresh as much as possible as you always know how much sugar/fat/carbs/ protein went into the dish.
honeysucklejasmine · 15/04/2018 19:53
  1. Treat yourself now and then. If you really want something, have it, but try to compensate by keeping your other meals healthy.

(I just ate a huge bowl of curry and I feel great. It was delicious and I don't regret it. Just about within my calorie allowance today too)
