Is anyone planning on starting exante? I have 4.5 stone to loose and thougjr exante may help me loose a little. If you have tried exante and succeeddd feel free to share any tips you have.

Also thought my face/jaw was looking better so compared to last Wed selfie and it's not my imagination. Hurrah.

Even if I'm adding some food, it's still WAY less than I've been eating so will have to work. I do go to the gym (not strenuous) anyway, so maybe it's better to stick with something more moderate.

Determined77 · 26/11/2018 19:20

I made it!! Only water and black coffee.
I do feel I may have to go to bed early to avoid temptation though.
I haven't taken any photos or measurements yet so I may have to do that before bed.
So how long does it take to go in to Ketosis? I have the test strips coming tomorrow, once you fall out how quickly can you get back? (I'm hoping I don't fall out on my Christmas dinner on the 4th December!!)
What can I get away with eating not to fall out I'm so worried as I only started today and I'll already be faced with a dilemma after only a week 🙄
Well done for only putting a pound on after a week of falling off the wagon AndThereSaw
Im also concerned over Christmas as I'm going to New York with my DD and it's been booked since January and I don't think I'll be sticking to shakes but I'll get back on it and soon as I get home.
I just don't want to put it ALL back on in one week 😞
Well done plumstone for being so focused over a weekend you have great strength.
Thank you SmallDalek I drank black coffee all day today and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Tiredofit · 26/11/2018 23:02

Hello, sorry to bother you all. I will introduce myself in due course but wondered if anyone had a referral code for Exante that I could use.

bubblyone · 27/11/2018 04:11

PM'd you tiredofit, although if you're up early enough the Cyber Monday SAVE50 might still be active! They were also using NOV30 before the weekend

Thisgirlcancancan · 27/11/2018 09:38

Determined the key to staying in ketosis is to keep thing’s low carb. I looked on the back of the exante packs and certainly the ones I have are roughly 20g of carbs each. Tomorrow will be my second meal off plan in 3 weeks and i’m having a chicken salad which has slightly over 20g of carbs (according to the nutritional menu online) so I should stay in ketosis.

Everyone’s doing really well. It’s great having this group for support and feeling like we’re not alone in our journey... gosh that was a bit deep. Have a good day all.

AndThereSaw · 27/11/2018 11:15

Kept to plan and drank loads of oolong tea, water and black coffee yesterday. Definitely back in the zone.
Forgot to weigh myself first thing but after 2 coffees still weighed a little less than yesterday. I will do this! (and yes I know I shouldn't weigh every day but in the first week while you are using reserves and going into ketosis it's quite exciting!)

AndThereSaw · 27/11/2018 11:17

Whoever it was upthread who was eating low fat cheese. You are more likely to stay in ketosis if you eat full fat cheese as there is less carbohydrate in each gram. And full fat cheese tastes better so if you are going to cheat you may as well enjoy it!

bubblyone · 27/11/2018 12:22

My M&S lighter cheese has only 0.1g carbs per 100g, so would think it's OK. The packs are the highest carb thing I'm eating really. They don't leave much wiggle room at all. Definitely got deeper into ketosis on Atkins. The higher fat on that probably did contribute. But am aiming for calorie control as well with this.

Determined77 · 27/11/2018 19:00

Gosh I hope this gets easier!
I'm still waiting for my delivery so I've been on choc Shakes for breakfast and dinner and bars for lunch... craving savoury.
How long do the deliveries normally take from order? Apparently they took next day delivery off as it was Black Friday weekend.
I've just looked at my menu choices I made for the Christmas lunch and the starter alone has 26g of carbs 😱
I'm going to have to do lots of damage control the following week, then avoid all social events until Christmas.
This girl wow three weeks that's great! I'd like to get to the stage where I can add a meal or solid food once a week but it'll probably take me two weeks to get back and recover from my 'Christmas lunch'
And there have you noticed major differences in the scales on your first week? I don't want to stand on them until at least Friday or I'm worried it'll put me off.

SmallDalek · 27/11/2018 19:59

I had a grim day yesterday. I went into town in the afternoon and felt dizzy and lightheaded and very tired. When I got home I was really hungry but also felt a bit sickly. Throughout the evening I had: avocado and tomato (fine), 4 fish fingers (probably not fine) and the slice of birthday cake my friend made me last week which has been in the freezer (definitely NOT fine). Oh and at bedtime I was hungry again and had a chocolate shake😱. I was so flipping cross with myself but interestingly I’ve felt a lot less crappy today despite being back on the rails with the Exante. The thing that concerns me is I’m on loads of medication for high blood pressure which is very well controlled to the point it’s almost on the low side. Wondering if the Exante is lowering it more hence the lightheadedness and dizziness. Did anyone feel generally a bit crappy into the second week (if you can remember). Everyone else who was just started I hope you keep doing well. Sounds like you are. Am determined not to have another day like yesterday!!

Tiredofit · 27/11/2018 22:32

Thank you bubblyone. I have ordered a selection using SAVE50. I could struggle with this as I only really like vanilla shakes. I definitely can’t drink chocolate, strawberry or banana but have ordered coconut, almond and something berry or cherry, along with vanilla shakes and smoothies, so will see how I get on. I plan to start on 1st Jan as I’m low carb bootcamping until 23rd Dec. I haven’t told dh yet as l know he won’t like the idea.

AndThereSaw · 28/11/2018 08:39

Morning all,
Managed to keep to plan yesterday in spite of peeling and chopping an avocado from the fridge when peckish. It turned out to be under-ripe so I didn't eat it. DS had it with some prawns instead, so I didn't even have to make him any tea!

Scales show another lb off today. If I stick with it, in spite of one week completely off this month I stand a chance of losing a stone in a month (3 weeks really). That's my incentive. I bit the bullet and threw away everything I didn't like. Then ordered more of the stuff I did on save50. I need to get into the routine properly. I honestly cut up the avocado without even thinking about the diet, but I'd have eaten it and then remembered and been cross with myself if it hadn't been hard!

AndThereSaw · 28/11/2018 08:42

Smallderek Don't be disheartened. You will feel rough and sicky for a few days as you go into ketosis. Up your caffeine and ride it through (go to bed early if you need to). You've replenished your carb stores so will feel better for a day or so but the ketosis flu will come back and if you can push through it the weight will start dropping off. Once you are in ketosis you'll feel much better and won't get hungry or sick in the same way. You can do it!

bubblyone · 28/11/2018 08:49

Morning, all!
Oh, Small! Sounds like miserable day. Were you in ketosis? I wouldn't be too surprised if Exante lowered your BP though. Low carb acts like a diuretic and also the packs probably contain less salt than most of us would usually be eating. Plus, it's also a big energy deficit. Do you have a home BP monitor to check?

At the moment just glad that week one hasn't felt too much like that, just hungry.

Processing of deliveries is seeming a bit slower at the moment, Determined, but order I placed on Friday still managed to arrive yesterday and one of the Sunday ones has just despatched. I went a bit mad, so multiple boxes are en route.

Work dinner tonight at a tapas place. It's casual though, so am basically going to do my best to just pick at some chicken or something, have a sip of wine and leave early. Was up to moderate ketones this morning and can see definite differences in my waist and face so not giving up. Wouldn't say I've gotten to the point of not hungry, but less so. Manageable instead of starving!

AndThereSaw · 28/11/2018 08:50

Smalldalek, not derek. Sorry!

SmallDalek · 28/11/2018 11:12

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Am back on track and only tempting item in the house is about to be posted to DGD. A posh chocolate guinea. Need it out of sight fast before the devil on my shoulder tempts me to open it. You are all doing so well. I do have an old BP monitor so will see if BP is low . Am also going to put some salt on meals. Thanks for pointing out the diuretic and low salt effects bubblyone. Keep going everyone and I’m now over my blip and back in action.

Determined77 · 28/11/2018 19:03

Hi all

Thanks Bubbly I contacted them today and it's not getting here until Friday so I went to Superdrug and bought lemon pancakes and spaghetti Bol, pancakes were nice and spaghetti Bol was ok but it was SOLID food lol 😂 so I was happy
Day three and I'm still hungry but I just keep drinking water and prey for the Ketosis to kick in.
Good luck with your Tapas tonight 🤞🏼
Well done Dalek for getting back on top.. I'll need your will power next week.

That's so great Andthere a stone in 3 weeks! I'd love that.. just before Christmas too Smile

madcatladyforever · 28/11/2018 19:06

I've wasted £500 on exante and not lost a pound because I can't stick to it, 2 weeks in and I'm so starving I go on a bender plus your breath stinks on it, it's the ketone thing.
I'm off for a gastric band in January as I'm sick of being fat.
If you stick to it religiously you will lose a stone a month.

AndThereSaw · 28/11/2018 19:50

£500? Wow!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 28/11/2018 21:11

Hope everyones getting on ok.

Glad you got back on track SmallDalek

I lost 1 1/2 lb this week. Very happy with that.

Thisgirlcancancan · 28/11/2018 22:08

small I would tread carefully if you’re on medication, have you checked with your doctor that a diet like this is ok. Definitely don’t overdo things.

bubbly hope you enjoy your meal out. I was supposed to be out this evening but one of the girls is unwell so we’re rescheduling. Not too disappointed really, means I get to keep to plan. Out on Friday so not too long to wait for real food even if it’s only a salad!

Well done on the losses Minnie and Andthere official weigh in day for me is Friday so I’ll report back then.

Can’t stop watching food programmes, get my food fix without it doing my waistline any damage!

plumstone · 29/11/2018 07:46

Thisgirl - I also watch food programmes when following any diet - I find it appeals to sense of control, its very strange i don't watch them at any other time - yet if I am doing Exante or LCHF I become obsessed!!!

bubblyone · 29/11/2018 08:15

That's annoying Determined, but only discovered I could get bits and pieces in Superdrug the other day too. So handy if there's an "Exante emergency"! I think I have more arriving today. Hope it does - my gooey chocolate puddings are in there and they seem to be my thing now!

Thanks for the good wishes re the meal. It went pretty well actually. Had a glass of wine, 2 small chicken skewers and some goats cheese. We shared a lot of stuff around because it was tapas so it wasn't overly obvious that I didn't eat the carbs I don't think. Let my colleague/friend take my 3rd chicken skewer and tried to be adventurous by taking a bit of his octopus. The day wasn't 600 calories, but I was in ketosis this morning, not hungry yet (was absolutely hungry last week) and I definitely had enough. Must have been feeling the effects of ketosis last night too - ate much less than I usually would and had no interest in having any more. Absolutely know what you mean thisgirl. On some diets I've totally dodged any meals out because they were off plan. It didn't do me good in the end, so we're probably better having some nights out. Although one a week seems enough! One of the coaches I've seen around (Lyle McDonald) actually recommends refeed meals in his rapid fat loss low carb low calorie plan, so I'm counting it as that.

I have Masterchef the Professionals on in the background, but partly because it's wallpaper. I also get to be (irrationally?) angry at Gregg Wallace for being there. I start watching them deliberately maybe 2-3 months into a diet - I call it the Pinterest phase because I tend to spend too long looking at pictures of cakes and recipes online too. Apparently participants in the Minnesota Starvation Experiment did it too, albeit cutting recipes out of magazines and hoarding them due to lack of internet!

Congrats on losses and good luck with weigh ins! Still not weighing, but clothes already feeling better so that will do.

£500 worth of Exante could be sold on Ebay I guess. Gastric bands work quite well for some people. The ones who don't blend their McDonalds etc. I feel that I would be too likely to cheat it by just eating lots of peanut butter and so on, unfortunately.

plumstone · 30/11/2018 07:21

a pound and a half!!! 11.12 this morning! Really happy with that and on track for 11st. 7 for Christmas - well the 22nd as that is the flight home, Essentially 3 weeks tomorrow - so excited!! Have solidly consumed two packs a day and a small protein and veggie meal each evening - e.g., half a salmon steak, asparagus etc. 3 litres of water.

My next Exante package include more of the meals and bars, which I hope will give more of a "three meals a day" concept!!!

Has anyone seen the news article where the NHS are prescribing soup and shake diet to reverse type 2 diabetes?

Also - fair play for spending £500.00 on Exante in one go - When I was unsure/scepticle about it I bought two weeks, and only when my head was in the right place for loosing weight - I genuinely believe that my excess weight on my arse is solved by the space between my ears!! Buying two weeks allows for me anyway, the mental situation of: that its only two weeks, and thats just 14 days, and of course I can do two weeks. After two weeks, the numbers on the scales drop and I am happy so I buy another two weeks, and so on and so forth! This purchase has been different as I am away for Christmas and very determined not loose momentum over Christmas, so I have bought 100 packs!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

bubblyone · 30/11/2018 08:40

Excellent news, plum! Still not weighing, but clothes fitting better and not feeling as puffy is helping to keep the motivation. You're doing so so well. My flight home isn't until the 24th, but may start my diet break a day or so before.

I like your plan. Think it's a nice balance between VLCD and normal life. Liking having some solid food myself too. Maybe mental thing?

Saw the articles. One of my acquaintances is an obesity doc in the US and he has been saying it for a while that rapid fat loss diets have a role - including just giving you a kick start so you keep going.

I ordered stuff over a year ago when I didn't end up doing it, but definitely only a couple of week's worth. Have bought a ton now with Black Friday/Cyber Monday, but felt psychologically in the zone and bought a lot of stuff I'd eat even if I wasn't actually on a VLCD - including bars. Few shakes coming in another box in case I need a change.
