Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

It does suck Chesty hormone fluctuations makes it tough for us women. The two weeks after AF i feel great, then it goes downhill after ovulation.

Welcome to all the newbies, I've lots to catch up on

Honeysuckle the burgers sounded delicious, so I checked out those hairy dieters and they have some great recipes.

It's certainly been a bizarre few days all round. The snow plus hills did make a good workout though. Hope everyone stayed safe.

Strangely changing to a 1 lb loss instead of 2, I've managed to be more on target than before.

Lost this week 1
Lost to date 58
Left to lost 55

honeysucklejasmine · 04/03/2018 12:43

Breaking there are 3. My favourite is the first one (it's white). The turkey burgers are from the yellow one.

I found the white one is lots of new recipes whereas the yellow and green are more reworking of old recipes from previous books. I have most of them and am aware of low cal substitutions so don't find as much to cook from them. Great recipes if you've not got their other books though. The calories are calculated for each recipe too.

honeysucklejasmine · 04/03/2018 13:08

Chesty I used to retain as much as 5lbs on my period. You'll see the loss next week. Flowers

prairiegirl · 04/03/2018 15:55

Is this thread still going? I need you folks.

honeysucklejasmine · 04/03/2018 15:58

We're all still here. Smile

BreakingSad · 04/03/2018 16:32

Thanks Honey I'll take a look, always looking for inspiration, as I seem to stick to certain dishes.

AnotherOtter · 04/03/2018 17:07

Loss this week: 1.4lbs
Total loss: 80.8lbs
To go: 20.2lbs

Pretty standard week for me. Did a lot of walking round and round the house to get my steps up as the roads aren't good yet here. Got a big anniversary at the end of the month which I had originally wanted to be at my goal weight for but I got derailed last year so oh well.

Moonlight, I log everything even my poor choices in MFP. You said you don't because you are ashamed but does not logging help with that feeling? MFP is only for me and I already know what I've eaten. Saying that, I do deliberately try not to be too obsessive and don't log the odd mint or teaspoon of spice. Logging the poor choices draws a line under it for me. Like folk were talking about, getting back up again after a cock up is an essential skill to learn. How is your new greenhouse standing up to this weather?

Chesty, muscle inflammation causes water retention and my cycle can see my weight change by several pounds. If you're only only weighing once a week you may just have caught an upsurge and you'll have a whoosh next week. Hope ChestyDog makes a full recovery soon, poor boy.

That's real progress, well done MotherofDinosaurs. The opera cake doesn't undo all your hard work as it's the long term that counts.

Honey, that's another great sounding recipe. I will try my local library for those Hairy Dieter books too. Is there a reason they have such a bizarre name though?! I have PCOS so I'm pretty hairy...

Welcome Praire, yes, this is a pretty active thread.

Well done to all the great losers this week. Hang in there and KOKO everyone else Thanks

ChestyNut · 04/03/2018 17:35

Thanks all, am resisting the “oh no now we’ll have to starve” voice and just accept these things happen.

After spending most of yesterday dozing on and off, I have a cough and wheezing. Crappy asthma and winter colds. Sad

honeysucklejasmine · 04/03/2018 19:58

AnotherOtter have you heard of The Hairy Bikers? They are TV chefs. Tend to do travel shows and cook dishes from where they are. They are big, bearded, motorbike riding Geordies. The Hairy Dieters is their spin off on which they embarked on diets to lose some bulk (very successfully). I have most of their books, but The Hairy Bikers Ride Again is one of my favourites.

It also amuses me that they met whilst working at the BBC - Si as a producer (I think) and Dave as a make up artist, which clashes marvellously with his outward appearance.

Moonandstars84 · 04/03/2018 20:16

I used to do the opposite with my fitness pal. Logging more than I ate as I was doing a vlcd. It was successful short term but rubbish long term. This time it will be different.
Feeling so inspired by these amazing weight loss. Will try and get mine in rich format and post.

Moonandstars84 · 04/03/2018 21:35

Starting weight 226 pounds
Lost 3lbs
Total lost 3lbs
Target weight 119 pounds
104 pounds to go

B1rdonawire · 05/03/2018 17:09

No movement on the scales this week (even after all the snow trekking!) May have had a croissant in protest. Then drew a line and will KOKO.

Loss to date: 48lbs
Remaining to lose: 51lbs.
Almost halfway I guess. Last year things moved fairly steadily but so far this year has been hard going to shift poundage. Ah well, the only person who can move this forwards is me I guess!

B1rdonawire · 05/03/2018 17:11

Sorry, meant to lead that post with a well done to Moonandstars!

prairiegirl · 05/03/2018 17:35

You all sound amazing!! Am totally a newby but as I said I need you folks and was thrilled to find you folks.
As a newby I need to ask - is there any particular diet you are following?
Sorry if you've answered this a million times...

Nobeachbody · 05/03/2018 17:46

Hi everyone, I wonder if I can join in. I've been lurking for a while and reading this thread, and have found it really inspiring. However, I don't quite qualify for the 100lbs to lose - I started the year at an all time high of 16 stone 12, and have managed to get down to 15-9 since January 2nd, , so 1 stone 3 pounds loss so far. My goal weight is 11 stone, (I'm only 5 foot 5.5, but somehow 11 stone is a good weight for me, even though heavy for others) so total loss required to hit that from my peak was 82 pounds - a bit short of 100. So hope you'll overlook that!!

However, I'm beginning to lose motivation and getting so BORED of not being able to eat what I like, that I need a bit of a kick up the arse and encouragement to keep at it. Like now. I work from home, and am sitting at my desk, and would just love a scone and butter, or some toasted crumpets. Instead I've had some sugar snap peas. Which were very nice, but I'm suddenly missing stodge and just being able to eat what the hell I like. Which I appreciate is what got me to nearly 17 bloody stone in the first place, but old habits die hard!!

Anyway, looking forward to losing more with the encouragement and support of everyone on here, and hearing more inspirational weight loss stories.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 05/03/2018 17:50

Well obviously I’m failing at this! I feel so shit about myself and I know that the logical answer is lose the fucking weight but I hate what I see in the mirror so much that I self sabotage because I’m a twat!

If anyone has any experience with ayours clothing then I have a thread in style and beauty and would be hugely appreciative of some help

You’re all doing so well c

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 05/03/2018 19:09

Brace yourselves, this might be an epic post coming up…. Grin

Honey, moonlight, MotherOfDinosaurs, Breaking moonandstars - well done on your losses.

chesty - I agree with the others, I bet you’ll lose that gain after this week. How are you feeling, and how is ChestyDog?

honey I bloody love the hairy bikers, and have been considering one of their books. Thanks for the overview!

Another - I log everything on MFP too. Helps me when I have a bit of a wobble ‘oh it’s been ages since I had XYZ…’ - then I go in, and realise that I’m not deprived, and that I probably had XYZ not as long ago as I first thought.

B1rd - the thought of a ‘protest croissant’ made me Grin. I know exactly what you mean. You’re so close to halfway!

prairiegirl - welcome on board. We’re all doing our own thing - whatever works for you, and most importantly that you can keep doing. This is going to take a while, so it’s important whatever method you choose it sustainable. (In saying that, I think changing up something that isn’t working, is really important, but you have to give something a fair shot first)

nobeach welcome to you too! Boredom is a huge issue with me - a friend of mine tries to find a new recipe a week, which I think it a great idea, as it’s so easy to get sucked into a routine of meals that you know are ‘safe’. The occasional treat of a scone isn’t the end of the world, as long as you don’t make it a habit - I can’t really restrict myself to one, so I don’t buy them, but you may have more self control Blush I’m working on it

Lego - welcome back! I can totally sympathise - I think that’s why a thread for people like us is so important, as we probably have a bigger mental load to deal with, rather than someone trying to lose 5 lbs. I’ve had my moments of being a self-sabotaging twat too - but hey ho, we’ll keep going and knock that twat into shape Wink.

Phew, think that's everyone! Apologies if I've missed anyone Blush, but it's so nice to see the thread so busy.

I'm on a slow cooker kick at the moment, so there's a chicken and butternut squash stew in there just now. It's a little bland at the moment, so I lobbed a good whack of chilli and ginger in there too.

KOKO everyone, we can do this!

Thank you b1

Moonandstars84 · 05/03/2018 19:18

And tractors Internet painfully slow at the moment.

Nobeachbody · 05/03/2018 20:13

Thanks Tractor! I'm with you, one scone/cake/biscuit/glass of wine is never enough, and it's easier to just avoid them altogether. Tho having said that I've just poured myself a glass of white wine which I am enjoying immensely!

Moonandstars84 · 05/03/2018 20:41

I have decided my fitness pal hates me. Did over 15 thousand steps today due to school run and done deliveries. I got a measly exercise allowance of 70 calories.
Blew that in a handful of popcorn.

BangingOn · 05/03/2018 21:10

Please can I join in? I’ve weighed myself tonight and I was 1.5 stones heavier that I expected, the heaviest I’ve ever been at 16 stone 9 lbs.

I now need to lose somewhere between 75 and 100 pounds to get to a healthy weight. It’s terrifying.

I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, partly due to spending my teens at a boarding school where I had little control over my food choices. I always felt big, even though I was rarely above a size 12 until my mid-20s when I met DH, stopped smoking, partying and living off vodka and fresh air. I started eating bigger portions, takeaways, meals out etc etc. Becoming fat felt like my natural state as I’d never felt slim, even when I was.

I lost 4 stone around 8 years ago following Pig to Twig and I kept it off until I was pregnant with DS. I didn’t put on a huge amount of weight, but then DS was diagnosed with cancer and I ate all of my feelings. He’s absolutely fine now, but I’m still eating.

Sorry, that was a massive essay. Cutting to the chase, I am following the Exante Man Plan, which is very low calorie but will hopefully see off the first few stone and then I will reduce the shakes and increase the healthy meals.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/03/2018 21:46

moon that doesn't sound right... How are you inputting it? Is it a linked tracker device? Doesn't sound like it's working properly. Try logging it via the exercise tab on the diary instead? Select the most appropriate walking speed and estimate your total duration for the day. Fwiw I logged 60 mins of leisurely pace walking yesterday for 333 calories. (I guess that's a value tailored to my weight.)

Hi banging, welcome. Gosh, I can't even imagine dealing with my dc having cancer, well done you and congratulations to your ds on coming out the other side. I've never heard of that plan - how long does it last?

Prairie I am doing calorie counting with My Fitness Pal. I've done SW before but I am finding cc much better - I'm actually learning about the food I'm eating - trying to keep to certain % of fat, carbs and protein, realising just how many calories are in things like lean meat. I'm also making better choices about what I eat as I want maximum volume for my calories. Like, I could have a simple sandwich versus a bloody massive salad for same calories. So obvious, I know, but it's really being made clear to me. We're also eating more vegetarian meals so our shopping is cheaper too Grin

Moonandstars84 · 05/03/2018 22:56

Yep it is linked to my tracker. Something is clearly wrong as when complete diary it reduces it to nil.
Will enter manually. Thanks for tip.

RavenLG · 05/03/2018 23:02

First weigh-in today.
Somehow I lost 8lbs and got my half stone award at SW!
I know it's not a true weight loss being the first week etc, but hopefully it'll keep going in the right direction.
Have a difficult weekend as my girls from home city are visiting and it will be a prosecco / wine / food filled weekend but will try and limit damage where I can!
