Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

Hallo, may I please join in?

Bit of background: 2013/14 I lost 126lb. Then fell pregnant with my beautiful boy. During pregnancy and the first year I regained a ludicrous 98lb...

Last year I only got 28lb off

This year I started well, lost 14lb, then went on the mother of all week long binges and gained 7lb, now I'm back in the game and 14lb off in the last 2 weeks.

So
Total to lose 105lb
Lost so far 42lb
Left to lose 73lb
List this week 5lb

My preferred method is SW but I don't go to a group. I love how I feel when eating healthy. I can stay on it for weeks and months but once I go I go. Am all or nothing, famine or feast, like a food alcoholic...

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 28/02/2018 15:25

Quick pop in from the red zone to say hope you're all staying safe - it's not that bad here, but glad there's nowhere to be! We are supposed to be working from home...but I know for a fact my boss was sledging earlier, so it's rather open to interpretation Wink Grin

DCs are having hot chocolates, I'm having a spiced apple tea. Very nice!

notanurse sounds like you had a great time. It’s things like flying that make the weight loss rewarding when you can sit comfortably and not use an extender.
ChestyDog is still squinting at me, we’re giving him eye drops we have incase as he’s renowned for eye infections Sad
Hoping it clears without a vet visit.

Stay safe up in the red zone tractors I’d love a snow day, no such luck in my job.
I hate driving in the snow!

Hope all the newcomers are getting on ok.
Dinosaur it’s ridiculous how quick the weight goes back on isn’t it. Well done on your weight loss so far, I’m around the same at 45lbs lost. Slow and steady does it Smile

Hello, everyone, I'm wandering in from yesterday's GP thread, hoping to find my willpower. It's out there somewhere, it was here this morning but it was gone by this afternoon. I need it by Sunday, when I will be starting on a calorie counted low carb regime. Any thoughts as to where I can find it will be gratefully received!
I have 100lbs to lose to get me to a reasonable weight for my height. Apart from wishing to lose 1lb a week, I have decided to count my weight loss in knicker size. Currently not that comfy in M&S 22 to 24 granny knickers. Hoping to eventually reach Victoria's Secret 12.
My first goal is to lose 5lbs by my birthday in April. And then, if I manage that, to keep on going downwards!

adayatthebeach · 28/02/2018 19:40

Hi I’m here too from seeing the recent thread. I have gained thirty pounds this past year from not caring about my health and being under very emotional stress. I am a type two diabetic and obviously gaining the weight shows how little I’ve be caring about my well being. So I woke up this morning and finally faced the scales. I’ve eating healthy today and plan on continuing. One day at a time. I’m also one of those all or nothing type people. I’ve had a weight problem my whole adult life.

honeysucklejasmine · 28/02/2018 19:40

Welcome everyone! So good to have more people here.

Tractors you have inspired me. FIL grows apples and is in one of those co-op things where you hand in your apples and get bottles of juice back. He's rather prolific so we've got 3 bottles from our most recent visit. (and a bag for life full of potatoes) So now I am going to look up mulled apple juice recipes. Yum.

So, another tricky day. Essentially I had too much for lunch. I go to an awkwardly timed toddler group on Wednesdays - I tend to eat a bit before and a bit more after. I shouldn't have had the smoked mackerel. But once again, even though I am over by 90 odd cals, I am still on track to lose weight. And I really enjoyed my mini haribo bag so it was worth it. Grin

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 19:51

Well day one signed off on my fitness pal so kitchen closed.
Had roughly 1300 calories but still hungry. Bath and bed soon.
Also did 18000 steps by walking to various school runs and events.
Obviously weather better round here.

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 19:53

Current weight 16 stone 2.
I will be half the person I am as long term I could do with losing 7 to 8 stone.

honeysucklejasmine · 28/02/2018 20:02

moon what have you got set as your goal on mfp? Mines on 1.5lbs a week which I find it just about manageable (~1500 plus 500 for breastfeeding). I couldn't cope on less, I'd start to sabotage myself with toast and marmalade and then give up.

Honestly I'd say set it for a smaller weekly loss and ease yourself in gently. We're hear for the long haul.

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 20:12

I have set 1 1/2 pounds too. I could probably go up to 1500 but must want to kick start my loss.

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 20:17

I am only allowed 1300 it would seem to lose 11/2 pounds. Maybe need to change to 1 pound.
Will see how it goes.

honeysucklejasmine · 28/02/2018 20:17

You'll find the first week loss is generally bigger anyway but I get that motivation for sure. It's a balance between that and finding it so hard that you're unwilling to continue. At least that would be my struggle anyway.

PostNotInHaste · 28/02/2018 20:41

Don’t you get some exercise calories on MFP on top of your allowance? I think I read a lot of people eat back 50% of their exercise cals on it though it seems to be a bit contentious.18k steps a lot for a day and I’m a bit worried that you’ll feel tired doing that on 1300 cals.

Notanurse that is really great news!!

I do love a spiced apple tea, must get some. Glad you’re ok in red zone Tractors and fingers crossed for Chestydog’s eye, it’s ears with my dog. DS has 2 snow days apparently yet we are currently without snow!

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 20:44

18k is unusual. I will play it by ear and tweak it as I go.
Feeling great right now.

PostNotInHaste · 28/02/2018 20:50

Sorry, was trying to type kef5 handed before. I don’t use MFP so not entirely sure how it works but have seen on the forums reference to eating back a percentage of your exercise calories so I thought it was something like you get say 1300 a day then if you synch a Fitbit it adjusts your calories up. Fully understand wanting to have a good first week. I was a bit pissed off that it was AF week for my first week which meant it wasn’t the best first week.

One day at a time definitely the way to go.

PostNotInHaste · 28/02/2018 20:51

That’s great you’re feeling good Smile

TheStirrer · 28/02/2018 21:51

Please can I join your happy band?
I have always been fat even as a child; 8 stone at 8; 14 stone at 14 ..... luckily I didn't keep that up but I am 21 stone at 47! Started mfp 2 weeks ago and have lost just over 5lbs. Am just trying to eat less and make sure I eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day..... it's going to be tough as I can't ever remember being a normal weight!

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 21:51

Thank you everyone. Glad I found this thread.

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 21:52

Although I hope op on the other thread gets the support she needs.

honeysucklejasmine · 28/02/2018 22:06

Same stirrer. I distinctly remember being 10 stone when I was in year 7.

TheStirrer · 28/02/2018 22:46

Yes it's going to be really hard to break so many years of emotional eating and bad habits but I really don't want to be fat at fifty. Food is my crutch but my body is telling me I need to do something. Am taking it easy as currently eating 2000 cals a day as wanted to start slowly and this is manageable (plus want to avoid gallstones). Am also only going to weigh every fortnight as if I start weighing more often I will get disheartened because it is such a lot to lose.

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 22:56

You see I only gained weight in my twenties. I was 8 stone at 18. Desk job close to amazing sandwich bar Got down to 9st 10 for wedding.
Worst thing for me is realising that dd1 weighs the same at 14 as I did on my wedding day.
Need to sort diet out for her too.

Moonandstars84 · 28/02/2018 22:58

I will go for weekly weigh ins I think.

fussygalore118 · 01/03/2018 00:09

Ive come to the conclusion after years on and off SW that i need somthing more restrictive volume wise..SW for me males it to easy to eat huge amounts.. anyway..hello!

OuaisMaisBon · 01/03/2018 04:43

I was slim till my late thirties (10st 10, 5'7"), then I married, moved abroad, had a rubbish job, became pregnant, gave up smoking, lost a baby, had a baby, had another miscarriage, and the final straw, had a rubbish stressful part-time job which I stopped after 3 years as I couldn't take it. I ate at home out of sheer boredom but also I love cooking and baking with cream and alcohol! Then we moved again, to a country where I can't work, and in any case my back has packed in so there are days when I can't walk, let alone take exercise, so in the roughly 10 years since I stopped working at all, I've gained 10lbs a year.
Though I weigh myself daily, I'll be checking in here weekly, hopefully with losses to report..
