Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/09/2017 19:49

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

honey - I'm finding just upping my veg is making a huge difference. Everything can always have more veg in it Grin

Bored - welcome back, and well done!

Another - I will offer a slap too. Can't add much to Post's wise words, so read those again!

Post - your body and hormones are really putting you through the mill! How are you feeling today?

notanurse - lucky you! NY is amazing, and so much walking is good exercise too. The seat belt will be what it is, and you have lost 4st, so you deserve a good time.

I'm doing well today - a celeriac and fennel stew thing is in the slow cooker, which is very virtuous, but part of me thinks I'd bloody love a pizza this evening! I won't though, because I won't love it tonight when I'm uncomfortably full and can't sleep; or tomorrow, when I'm all bloated and feeling greasy; or the day after when I do a food shop and realise how much more I could buy for that cash. I'm by myself this weekend, so will indulge myself in other ways (mostly watching Netflix in bed). Found out earlier that I also have another interview lined up for next week....the job I applied for last weekend, quite pleased Grin

Hope you all have a good weekend, will pop in tomorrow for a weigh in Smile

honey 3lbs is amazing!
notanurse I know exactly what you mean about fixating on fitting in stuff. Who are you flying with? We fly virgin and they have nice long belts for long haul.
post hope you get sorted with your periods etc.
tractors good luck with the interview.

to everyone I’ve missed.

Work uniform feels waffy and looser this week Grin
Haven’t had any weight loss comments though, I’d quite like some GrinBlush

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 16/02/2018 17:11

Have you lost weight chesty? That uniform looks positively baggy on you Wink Grin

How kind of you to notice Tractors Grin

Friday night total for anyone needing a Friday night shove:

Overall, since the start of these threads, we've lost... Star 790lbs! Star

(Just to note, when I'm adding all of this up, I take into account both the losses and the gains - so this total is a 'true' loss. If I were just adding up the amounts people have lost, the total would be higher, but I think this is a better reflection of our combined accomplishments Wink. I'll go through the old posts at some point and add up just the 'losses'.)

OP posts:
honeysucklejasmine · 16/02/2018 19:38

790! Bloody hell that is impressive! Well done everyone!

PostNotInHaste · 17/02/2018 07:11

I second Hineysuckle’s bloody hell Grin Good way of working it out and thank you very much for doing it Tractors, I have a loss to add to it.

Loss this last week or so 4.25lb
Total loss to date 95.25lb
Loss to go 14.75lb

Sounds a lot but some of it was hormonal weight. Looking back at figures I’m 2.25lb lighter than 4 weeks ago. That’s one week at a pound deficit and 3 weeks maintenance somjy maintainance week’s are giving me a small loss each week at the moment which i’m pleased about as not putting on.

Think this last stone is going to be a pound or two a month but that’s fine, can take as long as it takes as long as I get there, also making me think I need a maintenance ‘range’of about 3 or 4lbs to allow for fluctuations. Had letter from hospital yesterday explaining things. Will be having MRI, then appointment with Radiologist to discuss, then finally hopefully procedure so a bit long winded.

PostNotInHaste · 17/02/2018 07:53

Well done Bored, it is great to see the clothes sizes go down.

Notanurse can you google the airline to see if you can find out the belt length in advance? You’ve seen a difference with the seat trays so hopefully you’ll be fine without an extender. I didn’t need one on flight to Canada at top of my weight so I think some are more generous than others and 4 stone is a lot to have lost. I think that sometimes gets lost in the overal picture.

Honeysuckle what about drawing a graph with a line on plotting out either 1 lb, 1.5lb or 2lb a week loss over the year in one colour , then your actual loss in another colour. If maybe you went for 1lb a week you’ll most likely to out perform your chart which might then give you the feeling of over achieving ? It would also be a good visual record of natural weight fluctuations which help when they happen as you know they are normal for your individual loss pattern.

Tractors great news on the interview and like the sound of the stew.

Chesty have you lost weight? You’re looking great ! The comments from others will come , watch them carefully for now and you’ll probably clock some sideways looks. You’ll then get to the point where they can’t contain themselves anymore and come out with it ! I don’t think for me anyone is going to beat the friend I hadn’t seen for ages who walked into the room then sort of screamed and jumped back in shock when she saw me, was really funny Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 17/02/2018 11:30

Down 2lbs this week - haven't seen any changes really in clothes size, but bum is noticeably firmer Smile. Aiming to get under the 80lb to go mark by end of Feb.

Lost this week: 2 lb
To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 42.5 lbs
Left to lose: 81.5 lbs

StarStarStar Here’s your 3 stone bling NoTractors in true fat weight loss club (or fat club as friend and I called it) style. Fabulous news about your butt Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 17/02/2018 18:55

Oooh post that idea really appeals to me! Off to look at graph paper... And huge well done on your loss!

Well done Tractors!

At the in laws today and surprisingly still have 500 cals to play with after dinner. Not sure what I will use them for. Will probably go over tomorrow - having a 2nd birthday party at brunch time for my not NCT group babies. I purposefully bought a cake I can't eat, but another lady is bringing sausages and bacon, one lady is making pancakes (dairy free, bless her) and another doing drinks... Potential for lots of calories there. But this will be instead of lunch so as long as I have a light breakfast and don't go too mad at dinner either, should be ok.

PostNotInHaste · 17/02/2018 19:45

Thanks Honeysuckle. If I’m not too late and the 500 cals are still available can I suggest a light drink or snack this evening and save the rest for tomorrow to give you more leeway?

honeysucklejasmine · 17/02/2018 20:25

I've not used them yet so I think I will just bank them and then not worry too much if I end up going slightly over tomorrow.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 18/02/2018 09:57

YAY Tractors 3 stone Halo

Loss this week 1lb 12oz
Total lost- 44lb 12oz
To lose- 55lb 4oz

Nearly half way, although I probably could do to lose more eventually.

Have reduced my dietician visits to 2 weekly, need to make sure I can do this for me and not because I’m seeing her every week.

KOKO everyone Brew

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 18/02/2018 10:10

Has anyone else had less illness since we’ve started our “journey’s”

AnotherOtter · 18/02/2018 10:57

Starting weight: 241lbs
Current weight: 163.8lbs
Loss this week: 0.8lb
Total loss: 77.2lbs
To go: 23.8lbs

Surprised I lost anything this week as didn't do too well sticking to my calorie goal half the time. Not feeling very motivated. Post, your advice about mixing things up is spot on and I had a go at that and I will be doing that this week too. After all, it is 100% up to me what I eat. I can start, stop or pause this diet or maintenance whenever I like. I think I feel like there is a big rush to get to my goal weight as soon as possible but actually the big challenge is keeping the weight off.

Post, you sound like you are feeling really frustrated just now made all the worse by your ridiculously erratic cycle. I wish I was done with weight loss too but guess we just have to keep on plodding on. You'll get there! I hope things settle down for you soon Thanks

Well done on the size 14s, Bored.

A trip to New York sounds amazing, Notanurse, but I totally understand the fear of flying and fitting the seat belt. It's horrible but remember it happens to so many people as the planes are not designed to accommodate a range of bodies only to squish in as many as possible. Easy to think "it's all my fault" but it's not. Fingers crossed the plane is fine and I hope you have a fantastic trip.

Honey, I'm another one who is adding a lot more veg to things and having double portions of side servings of veg. It really helps to fill you up.

Well done on getting another interview, Tractors. You are doing so well with the job search! Best of luck next week.

Chesty, that uniform is just hanging off you. Have you lost weight? Grin The comments from other people will come.

Well done to everyone who has lost this week and to those who are KOKO Thanks

moonlight1705 · 18/02/2018 12:34

Another STS this week for me. I've not really tried so feeling that it is accurate anyway.

I have got myself into a bit of a rut so have bought a vegetarian cookbook to add interest and new meals....we're normally massive meat eaters.

Well done all on your lovely weight losses, its a nice feeling when clothes start to fit better. I've got a taekwondo outfit which is feeling looser and have measured myself and think I'm getting inches off a bit.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 18/02/2018 13:41

Why Thankyou otter Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 18/02/2018 21:00

I have survived the weekend away and have calories to spare today as well as the spare 500 from yesterday! Shock

Have also ordered graph paper...

honeysucklejasmine · 19/02/2018 11:38

Ok, just 1 3/4 pounds off this week. Considering I had a takeaway curry on valentine's day and was away this weekend so had no control on the menu offered.

Now I've got the hang of it, I have changed my goal to 1.5lbs a week. If it's proves too restrictive I'll go back to 1lb.

To lose: 102lbs
Lost to date: 22 3/4 lbs
Lost this week: 1 3/4 lbs
To lose: 79 1/4 lbs

BreakingSad · 19/02/2018 14:56

Everyone is doing so well and huge well done you lot.

I'm down 1 lb this week, I'm going to keep this one off, as I've been up and down the last few weeks.

I've readjusted MFP and Fitbit to lose 1 lb instead of 2, hopefully I'll be a bit more consistent.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 20/02/2018 12:38

I’m tentatively back, I’m still struggling with things but frankly I’ve not lost any weight and it’s done me no good to step away so I’m hoping I can take a deep breath and give this another go x

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/02/2018 15:02

Quick post - just to say well done you losers Grin and welcome back lego!

I think I am in a bit of a food rut too, Moonlight. Which vegetarian recipe book did you get? Have any of you folk got recommendations for recipe books that are not too time consuming? I can recommend Jack Monroe's website https://cookingonabootstrap.com/ for budget friendly and straightforward recipes. The tarka daal and chickpea and peach curry are firm favourites in my household. I quarter the oil in both of those to reduce calories.

How are you getting on with the graph paper, Honey? Well done for doing so well on your weekend away.

Welcome back, Lego! What is your plan of action?

I have two NSV to report. I am wearing cheap multipack size 12 knickers which I found fucking astonishing considering the last knickers I bought were size 22. Still in the size 14 trousers as those aren't as stretchy Grin Secondly, had lunch with a friend and she showered me in compliments (without specifically mentioning weight as she knew that would upset me) about how well I was looking and how good my new clothes looked. I made an effort to look nice and it's given my confidence a needed boost.

Well done to the folk who have lost and double well done to those who haven't lost but are KOKO as that is really hard and a real test Thanks
