Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/09/2017 19:49

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

Loss this week- 3lbs Shock
Total lost- 42lbs 8oz
To lose- 57lbs 8oz

Am really pleased as have struggled this week. Have had a small bar of chocolate some nights but find it harder to exercise moderation and eat a bit than not eat it at all iyswim?
Definitely something I need to work on long term.

Well done on interview Tractors

AnotherOtter is there a reason for your deteriorating mood?
When I’m down/stressed I try and focus on getting comfort other ways, a long bath with my favourite bubbles, fluffy jumper and a good film or reading.
It’s really tough to break the old habits though, food is such a quick fix Flowers

Well done everyone for KOKO Brew

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/02/2018 21:34

Well done you losers! Smile

Will post properly tomorrow - it has been a busy few days here, so I’m heading off to bed in a moment to try and get a headstart on this coming week!

Hope you’ve all had a good weekend, even if it seems to have been all too short!

Hi all. I've been hovering around the 18st mark for a few weeks now. I'm not getting on with SW as I can't eat dairy, so yesterday I downloaded MFP. It was about 4pm, and by the time if entered breakfast and lunch, my allowance was almost gone. 😳 New start today.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/02/2018 09:55

Very interesting to hear gardening plans. I started growing veg when I was trying to get pregnant with DD. Fell pregnant a few months in and then proceeded to vomit relentlessly for 40 weeks whilst it withered and died. Oops.

moonlight1705 · 05/02/2018 09:57

Total Loss this week: 1/2 lb
Total Loss: 5 1/2 lb
To go: 123 lb

Slow this week but at least it wasn't putting it on.

AnotherOtter · 05/02/2018 12:38

I stayed the same this week - to the decimal point. Thank you all for the kind words about my misbehaving mood, it's appreciated. Post, I am taking your advice and going to do a week of maintenance starting yesterday. It has already cheered me up as finding it quite a novelty. However, I am exactly two pounds up on yesterday after my first day of maintenance which I am putting down to my impressive glycogen stores being replenished plus eating too much delicious salt. I lose a lot of weight in the first few weeks of a diet for the same reasons. Chesty, the reason for my mood going downhill is an accumulation of stress from chronic physical ill health I think. I am just not coping very well with the deteriorations. I have the CPN coming round today so will vent at her - they earn their money!

Tractors, how are you getting on with the early morning exercise? I am a night owl and it sounds horrific to me! Though spending the rest of the day in the glow of having it ticked off would be great.

Moonlight and Post, you both have seriously impressive gardens and gardening skills! Summer and autumn pickings must be lovely. I know gardening is not cheap but that kind of freshness of fruit and veg is priceless. My mother had a very impressive garden when I was growing up and I have fond memories of the lovely fresh veg. I do not have fond memories of being sent to pick the strawberries in the clouds of bastarding midgies though. And clegs. Honey, morning sickness/hyperemesis for nine months would upset the most dedicated of gardeners!

Well done to everyone who has lost and those who are KOKO regardless Thanks

BoredOnMatLeave · 05/02/2018 14:25

Hi All, well done to everyone. I am scared to step on the scales in the morning, start of my cycle and had a night out with DP sat with lots of cheese and meat Blush, I will just have to brave it.

I also had about 8 inches cut off my hair last week and didn't lose 1lb. I very foolishly thought it would make me lose a couple of lbs!

honeysucklejasmine · 05/02/2018 18:03

Bored even if you do gain - you know why. It's a rather rare set of events all coming together at the same time. You know it's not because of any failing of yours. It'll come off again.

honeysucklejasmine · 05/02/2018 18:05

(I don't class a night out with dp being a bit indulgent as "failing". Unless you do it every night of course 😉)

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 05/02/2018 18:45

Damnit Bored - I was planning on losing at least half a stone with my next haircut! Maybe if I shave my legs too.... Wink
Definitely agree with honey that is not a failing - we still have to live, to make this sustainable.

Another - I can confirm that early mornings are currently very cold! I'll admit I'm doing a shorter route than I intended (because it's fucking freezing!), but it's going well. I'm very much an early bird, so it's not too painful - the coffee afterwards really helps too Wink

Thanks for all your kind interview wishes - stage 2 is on Friday, so I'll be preparing most of this week. DCs are most amused at me doing so much 'homework'..a sticker chart has been mentioned Shock Grin

KOKO everyone Smile

Ha...after my optimism of last night, I tried going out this morning but it is snowing and it turns out I have no grip AT ALL in my trainers. So I’m back in bed, watching the snow fall!
This is unusually early for such nonsense, but I slept really strangely - suuuuuper deep sleep from 11 to half 1, and then I’ve been wide awake since then so figured I should do something productive Hmm.

moonlight1705 · 06/02/2018 09:52

Brrrrr, sounds cold Tractors, you are a brave woman!

Found out my blood test TSH level and still at 7.2 so no wonder there hasn't been a significant decrease in weight if I am over the recommended level.

PostNotInHaste · 06/02/2018 18:26

Well done all you losers and STSers!

AnotherOtter yes not unusual to temporarily put on a couple of pounds for the reasons you said. Glad it has helped a bit and it really is good practice. My DC rarely set foot in the garden these days though DS came home today said watching me shredding today was ‘oddly interesting ‘.

Bored agree if it scales go up they will soon go down again. Going out and having fun is important !

Honeysucke that sounds like a very rough pregnancy, I didn’t get any gardening done during pregancy or when the DC were little.

Notractors you can still wear the smug face as you did try this morning! Good luck for Friday, fingers firmly crossed. Sympathies on th3 sleep, main topic of conversation amongst lots of people I know these days,

lilabet2 · 06/02/2018 18:31

Can I join?

I'm currently a size 18, 5 foot 6 and weigh about 14 and a half stone. I was 10st 7 just two years ago and would really like to get back to that or even better to get to 9 stone!

I have a horrible binge-eating problem and cannot go more than two days without bingeing most of the time!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/02/2018 19:52

Dashing in and out again, but thought this page was really interesting: Comparison photos to prove a point about how easy it is to double your calorie amount without even realising it

Welcome lilabet, jump right in! I'm dashing out again - I'm very tired, and hoping for a better night's sleep tonight!

honeysucklejasmine · 06/02/2018 20:27

Post it was rough. I didn't have HG, just the H, luckily. Had some wonderfully dignified experiences - threw up on myself whilst driving twice. Squatted over a drain on the driveway to vom. Threw up in the sink in my classroom once. Luckily no student around. Second pregnancy was much better in that respect, but of course I had a toddler by then so it was crazy!

I'm finding calorie counting quite hard... I am hungry! It's psychological - I've eaten about the same but less treats and snacks. And I really want to snack. If anyone has any suggestions on low cal snacks, please share! I already gave carrot sticks with my lunch every day so don't really want more of them as a snack.

lilabet2 · 07/02/2018 18:03

Thanks NoTractorsatTheTable! I hope you had a better night's sleep last night.

I'm finding it hard to stop eating today- I had porridge for breakfast, soup and a half-sandwich with chicken and sweet chilli for lunch so should be feeling really full but just ate some baguette and a tablespoon of nutella. Pasta for dinner so I'm going to have to weigh it to stay on track!

SavingMyself · 08/02/2018 09:48

Jumping on this thread, I have exactly 100lbs as my target loss. At 5ft2 and 250lb (just under 18st) things are pretty desperate now. Ive had 6 children and gained over a stone with each. Started sw 2 days ago so we will see how that goes. I feel really determined to lose this weight. I am literally double the size i should be. wish me luck xx

AnotherOtter · 08/02/2018 13:04

Bored, did you manage to step on the scales? It's hard to do when you are pretty sure it's going to make you feel rubbish. Putting it off doesn't seem to make it easier though and then there's the risk that letting it slide means letting your weight slide, or at least that what happens with me.

Good luck for your stage 2 interview tomorrow, Tractors. How's the preparation going?

Moonlight, hope the increased dose of thyroxine helps. It should so fingers crossed.

Welcome, Lilabet. I had awful problems with binge eating and found 'Overcoming Binge Eating' by Dr Christopher Fairburn very useful. www.waterstones.com/book/overcoming-binge-eating/christopher-g-fairburn/9781572305618 It was recommended by a NHS psychologist and apparently some areas of the NHS 'prescribe' it now.

Honey, that amount of vomiting sounds grim as fuck. What a nightmare. Calorie counting is tough at times but you shouldn't have to feel really hungry if you have a modest deficit. I didn't believe this until I tried it but swapping food in that is high in protein and fibre does make you feel full for longer. For me, supermarket own brand All Bran lasts hours longer than cornflakes and boiled eggs or omelette with green veg lasts much longer than toast at lunch. I think what works for each person is very individual but might be worth experimenting a bit? Much easier said than done with two small DC though!

Welcome SavingMyself. I've heard people saying good things about Slimming World so hope you find it helpful. Good luck!

I am really enjoying my week of maintenance. I'm not quite eating my full allocation of calories as can't quite believe I can eat that much. Need more data. It does feel like a stress has been lifted on my body. I'm a bit worried that I won't go back to eating at a calorie deficit!

AnotherOtter good tips! I think I do need to focus a bit more on what's actually in the food I eat too - just in terms of carbs, fats, protein. The first day I was quite shocked just how many carbs I'd usually eat. Getting in to the swing of it now, feel less hangry.

I made myself some breakfast loaf. Pork mince, mushrooms, garlic, onion, wee bit of passata, chopped fresh tomatoes. Popped in a overproof dish and layer of fat removed bacon on top. Bake until cooked (you'll need to pour off liquid during the cooking). I cut it in to 8 portions which work out about 200 cals each, served with baked beans. Yummy. I've also swapped bread for wraps, and bulking up on the "salad" in the ham salad sandwich I usually have. I do need to cut my dinner portion size down a bit. But I'm breastfeeding at the moment so have the munchies. Apparently for an ebf baby they recommend you log it as a 500cal exercise each day. The calorie allowance goes down as baby weans.

Welcome new people! The ladies on this thread are super, stick with them and you'll be grand.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 09/02/2018 16:14

honey that breakfast loaf sounds amazing! I will try that this weekend.

Thanks again for all your nice words - I had the interview this morning, but not sure how well it went. Apparently there's another stage after this one...Hmm (no idea why, it's a fairly bog-standard job spec!)

I am fighting the urge to buy a pizza or takeaway tonight - if I cook tonight, I'll have leftovers for us for the weekend, but if I get a takeaway tonight, I fear it will be a slippery slope. I've not had any crap like that this year, so I'm sticking with that, I don't want to break my streak! competitive, much?

Just found this thread and thought I'd say hello. I want, no need, to lose at least 10 stone. I started at weightwatchers last weds but couldn't go this weds because I was away so my first weigh in is next weds. I had a slight wobble when I was away but not too far off track. 10 stone is far too scary to think about so my goal is always the next stone.
