Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

1500 cals not happening here either NotaNurse. It’s not that long ago that you were pretty consistently losing 2lbs a week. I think you could do with a Fitbit and see what that says you’re averaging, then make a decision. It might be adding in a further short walk might do it but see where you’re at first. Once we hit the spring something might come to mind that you fancy having a go at. I have reservations about the gym too, don’t like the idea of travelling to get there, doesn’t feel like efficient use of time.

I personally think you should have personal shopper session for the wedding nad not make it conditional on having lost a certain amount by then but to celebrate what you have lost. What you’ll find as you get smaller is that half a stone makes a greater difference to your weight than it used to.

We’ll all get to goal, I am totally confident in that ! The time scale I don’t know but it matters not one bit!

eyeswideshit · 06/01/2018 14:04

Thanks everyone for being so welcoming! I'm also doing the walk 1000 miles in 2018 which is just under 3 miles a day. I didn't realise just how unfit I was as even that small amount is a struggle for me but I've been out today and done it. Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be a lot fitter and be able to walk further without feeling like breaking down in tears! Weigh in on Monday for me.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 07/01/2018 10:04

Good lord I’m struggling! Holiday and then Christmas has well and truly knocked me out of my routine Sad

I’m amazed I’ve lost this week though!

Loss this week 2lb 12oz
Total- 35lbs 12oz
To lose- 64lbs 2oz

Mini goal is to shift the 10lb gain left from Florida and Christmas and get back into the 40lbs lost.

So depressing how quick it can go back on.

My plan is restart food diary Monday.
Seeing dietician Tuesday.
Less cheese
Reduce fruit/yoghurt pudding to 3 times a week.
Hide the leftover Christmas baileys Xmas Grin

Well done to the new members for joining and the rest of you for KOKO.
Some really inspiring weight loss Flowers

Hello, can I please join in? I want to lose 102lbs. Started on 2nd January, dry January should hopefully help to kickstart things too.
I am fatter than I have ever been (including pregnancy), I have an underactive thyroid and a couple of other hormonal issues but feel that I need to find a way to lose some weight. I don’t even feel like me in my own body any more.

AnotherOtter · 07/01/2018 10:57

Starting weight: 241lbs
Current weight: 170.4lbs
This week's loss: 1lb
Total loss: 70.6lbs

Decent week for me despite a bad cold. That's five stone off for me which I am pleased about. There's a lot to be said for plodding on regardless.

Tractors, I recommend dropping or cutting right back on caffeine. I used to drink a dozen lot of caffeinated tea and now only have one in the morning and the rest decaf. That improved my anxiety and particularly the quality of my sleep. I was resistant to doing it for a long time thinking it would be impossible to function without the boosts of energy. But your baseline energy goes up and you adapt in a couple of weeks. Definitely one of the more positive things I've done to improve my mental health.

1500 calories would be really hard for me too, notanurse. I have a custom goal in MFP of 1700 and I find that tough at times. I second Post in saying a fitbit would really help in working out how many calories you are burning. They are also surprisingly motivating in getting you to walk more. I love it when you the app all flashes green when you have achieved your daily goals!

Eyes, I started walking two ten minute walks a day when I was at my heaviest and that exhausted me and made my back ache. Kept slowly building it up and now walk 45-50 miles a week according to my fitbit (two 45 minute walks a day). I listen to podcasts and music and really enjoy that time to myself. It has also helped my mood hugely: it dampens and soothes agitation and hyperness and lifts lowness (I have bipolar disorder so both are a problem for me). Building slowly is the secret. I am now aiming to walk faster and keep my heart rate up on my fitbit. Good luck and keep us posted Smile

Sorry to hear you are struggling, Chesty. It is really hard to get back on the wagon - but it's worth it! Good luck with the dietitian.

Well done everyone on their losses and well done for KOKO Thanks

AnotherOtter · 07/01/2018 11:00

Welcome ShyOyster. Good time of year to start and Dry January helps a lot of people. Good luck Smile

ShyOyster · 07/01/2018 12:35

Thank you Smile
I work in kilograms. I weighed myself on Tuesday and was 126.6kg and I want to get down to 80 kg. I know that looking at BMI it’s still quite high (I’m 178cm tall) but it’s my happy weight and I look fab then, especially if a bit toned.

Spammy McSpamface can fuck right off Wink

Another, thanks for the encouragement on the caffeine front - I currently only drink it on the mornings, but feel it's still having an effect on me at work, and I drink less water, which is also not helpful. I've made a concious effort to drink more water this week, so dropping the coffee will help with that too. I only drink it black, so I won't save calories, but I think the all-round benefit will be worth it.

ShyOyster welcome to you too. I know how you feel, I forget how big I am and then get a stab of disgust when I realise... BUT, we're on our way to fixing that Smile

Another I think I may have to start splitting my walks. I've been trying to do the 3 miles all in one go but my ankle isn't happy at all with me. Not sure whether I need insoles, new shoes or some physio

Hmm ...anyway....

eyes I'd definitely split your walks up if your ankle isn't happy. Might be worth seeing someone, and in the meantime dropping back to a mile etc. whatever it seems comfortable with. There's a fab quote by Terry Crews on reddit (I'm so down with the kids Wink) that someone posted on FB the other day, basic idea being that It has to feel good for you to keep doing it
reddit thread

(Terry Crews is this guy on Brooklyn 99 - the DCs favourite show just now and so I'm mildly obsessed too Grin)

For any future spammers... (also the exact message I receive from DD when I text her... Shock)

Spam aside, how is everyone doing, are we all set for the coming week? I'm on a freezer run-down as there are soooo many batch cooked portions in there, I've run out of space. So it's going to be mystery meals for the coming week - probably some veggie chilli, a slow-cooker curry and some form of daal, but I'm not entirely sure Blush. I did find a Callippo in there though, so that's a victory Wink

Terry Crews is an absolute god! I love him Grin

I’ve bought a new Fitbit after washing my last two 🙄🙄 and I’m hoping to get back in the swing of things this week!

Everyone is doing so well!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/01/2018 20:04

Washing two of them is pretty impressive lego Wink - hope our third one lives a long and happy life with you!

DCs are home and back to school tomorrow - they are going to need a crow bar to prise them out of bed (as might I!) Early nights all round!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 07/01/2018 20:53

Grin I wear it attached to my bra and am forever forgetting and putting it in the wash (each was washed about 5 times before it gave up the ghost!)

3rd times a charm right!

ShyOyster · 07/01/2018 21:09

I found my bellabeat, had to turn the house upside down of course to find it in the drawer of my bedside unit.
I’m currently doing 10,000 steps per day or thereabouts, I reckon I’d need to double it to see some results.
I did a very sensible food shopping and managed to resist the temptation when DP was eating double chocolate cookies right next to me, the bastard.

BoredOnMatLeave · 08/01/2018 08:06

Hi All, I was on end of last year but fell off the wagon and went MIA for a few weeks - Sorry!

The good think is I had tonsillitis and couldn't eat so no Christmas weight gain! Started up again last week and am 2 lb down.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and new year

moonlight1705 · 08/01/2018 08:13

I've been back on the routine this week (well since Wednesday anyway) and have lost 1lb.

Total Loss: 5lb
Loss to go: 154lb (trying to get to 11 stone eventually).

I've got a blood test again in a couple of weeks to see about my thyroid levels so may have to up the levothyroxine again.....fingers crossed that will work a little more.

When do you all have time to do these walks? I've got to leave the house at 6.30am with an hour commute in the car and get back at 4.30pm, its dark and miserable so don't want to walk!! Maybe spring will be easier.

Well done everyone on their post-Christmas losses, its amazing how getting back into the routine helps.

eyeswideshit · 08/01/2018 10:20

So it's week one weigh in.
Starting weight 284 lbs
Current weight 279.5 lbs
Weight loss -4.5 lbs

Not much to say really other than my heads still in it and I've still got my motivation so it's going better than previous attempts!

B1rdonawire · 08/01/2018 16:01

I have stayed the same this week, which I'm optimistically chalking up to hormones and panettone

Must have walked a decent no of steps today as spent it trailing round various outpatients departments with a relative, which seemed to be designed to always be as far away from each other as possible!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 08/01/2018 20:15

Hello everyone Smile - one day down, and one day closer to the weekend! I'm watching How to Lose Weight Well, I'd forgotten how much I liked it.

lego - you might be on to something with your Bra-Bit - fingers crossed for this one!

Shy - well done on the shopping, and hope DP got a dig in the ribs Wink

Bored - welcome back!

moonlight - that's a long day! I can (luckily) walk back and forth to work, so that's about 8000 steps, so if I'm not running late, I take a slightly diverted route which takes me up to 10k steps. It's such a thought going back out into the dark once you're home - I'm hoping the lighter nights will help (whenever they arrive!).

eyes - that's a great start! Well done!

B1rd - I know that feeling, you end up walking from one end to the other! I do wonder about the thought process that goes into designing these places Smile
