Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

Yes Tractors!

We need to remind ourselves how far we've come and what amazing achievements we've all had. KOKO Flowers

Right OK, back on track from tomorrow (giving up on today as children in need bake sale in office)

Just set the background of my phone to a pic of me size 8 (4 years ago) with "DON'T EAT THAT" in big red letters Grin Hopefully that helps!

PostNotInHaste · 17/11/2017 11:01

Hi Snap8theCat I've had a read of your thread and a quick look for your weigh in today - bloody hell that is great Grin

Lego how are you doing ?

Hercy definitely focus on what you have done , lift something that weighs 2.5 stone and I think you'll feel you've done well! Can relate to the being good, then treat which leads to bad eating nad have been there. I deal with this now by making sure I have regular 'treats' so I don't feel deprived. And I reserve the right to have a day of complete shit if I want to and if I want a custard slice and a cream eclair then I'm having them both. It gets logged and dealt with and then it's done and I'm able to move on. I'm very perimenopausal and my hormones are all over the shop, I think if I didn't do what I'm doing I would be back to bingeing.

With Christmas coming managing the deprivation aspect is going to be really important. Last Christmas I found mini versions of things helped a lot - stollen bites and mini mince pies were generally my go to things . DH found some mini cheesecakes which are his weakness. This approach might not work for everyone and some people are probably better off going cold turkey but I've found I regularly eat pizza, curry, chocolate, cakes etc and don't feel I'm missing out so more out of the 'good or bad' cycle I was in before.

Boredonmaternityleave if you see this in time, don't give up on today! Have something from the bake sale, chuck extra money in rather than buying more and work it into your day. If there's any chance of getting out for a walk at lunch do that or have a go at Leslie Sansone's walking videos at home whilst waiting for stuff to cook. Having said that if you don't see this or you decide to go for it on cake sale anyway, getting back on tomorrow a good plan! If you are up when you weigh it will come off quickly, a fair bit will probably be water.

Honeysuckle new territory is very exciting! Sorry about the dodgy stomach though.

Wise words from NoTractors, fuck being fat indeed Grin Saw a bunch of middle school boys taking photos of something this morning and could just see it was a curled up hedgehog. I guess we need to fight our inner hedgehogs and try not to hibernate and keep on trying to move. Easier on a cold but beautiful day like today but much a lot of people will be stuck at work during daylight hours now and that makes it really hard. One thing that is working here and depends on your group of friends, is everyone seems to be trying to exercise more so it's becoming more of a social thing which is hugely helpful as you feel like you have to go and it's a social thing too.

BreakingSad what have you been doing to mix up the exercises? Next year at some point I think I need to involve weights a bit but not feeling enthused about that at moment.

NotaNurse , hope things are getting a little easier.

Chesty chick those pom poems here Grin

Snap8TheCat · 17/11/2017 11:14

Thank you! I’m delighted and really spurred in to keep going.

Lots of good wishes to you all and hope you have a good week Star

AnotherOtter · 17/11/2017 11:46

Well done, Snap. Amazing first week Smile

I'm another one with wavering mojo. Had a takeaway last night even though there was food in the house and I wasn't that tired. I tried to choose something sensible and get it into my daily calories on MFP. It was pure comfort eating as had had bad news. I still very much get that little voice in my head that goes "I'm hungry" or "I need whatever food" when things go wrong.

I was the weight I am now this time last year too. But I lost my mojo and life was going badly so I thought I'd maintain. I did nothing to actually keep my weight steady other than a half-hearted attempt at intuitive eating. I didn't weigh myself or log my food and I put on three stone over six months. When I finally weighed myself, I was so shocked I could barely speak for days. I genuinely had no idea I had put on so much or that I had been eating that much. In the scheme of things in life, putting on weight isn't the worst thing in the world but I was devastated. Fair enough to pause and maintain or loosen the reins temporarily but I know from that experience that I have to keep weighing myself and logging my food to hold the fort while my mojo comes back. Think motivation wavers for everyone and what you do when it's low is even more important than what you do when it's high.

(Graph from MFP shows my weight only from last autumn when I started tracking it there. Starting weight was 17st3.)

BreakingSad · 17/11/2017 14:04

PostNot I do about 30 minuets exercise in the morning (I like getting it out the way, otherwise I know I wouldn’t do it later). I still do my exercise bike but I’ve shortened the time and have been adding in a 10 min HIIT workout or kettlebell workout on you tube or the beginners 30 day yoga with Adriene on you tube is good. I also printed off dumbbell exercises.
I do have to adjust some of the exercises or I just couldn’t do them Grin

BreakingSad · 17/11/2017 14:07

Wow Snap just found your thread, that’s a fantastic start.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 17/11/2017 17:04

I'm shaking off my 'dip' and heading out for an 80s themed zumba class. I am so not a zumba person, but I'm a sucker for cheesy 80s songs Grin Apprehensive but determined to give it a good bash!

Hope you're all having a good day, and here's to the weekend Smile

FlowersAnotherOtter, sorry you had bad news. I was incredibly shocked when I weighed last year for the first time in ages, I thought I had roughly maintained but was nearly 2 stone heavier than i thought.

Thanks BreakingSad you've reminded me I did actually buy a kettlebell, will have to blow the dust off and actually use it!

Jealous of your 80's Zumba NoTractors. I could break my no dance class rule for that and relive my teens Grin

PostNotInHaste · 18/11/2017 07:21

Zumba is still 'very much not a thing I do' but this one did have some good tunes! Have a burning desire to watch John Hughes films all weekend now...but after I've been out for a brisk walk Grin

We're into soup season now, so there's going to be veggie soup for days in this house - if I have a hefty salad alongside it, it fills me up forever.

Well done on the losses Post and notanurse - and how great about your coat! That's a great NSV, enjoy swishing about in your coat Grin

I've been ignoring the scales for a few weeks, so have checked the damage this morning. I'm up on where I was, but I kind of expected that, so drawing a line under it.

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 34 lbs
Left to lose: 90 lbs

Hope you all have a good weekend Smile

That is brilliant NotaNurse , huge milestone in difficult circumstances. Sotry things are hard but you are doing brilliantly - would be so easy to slip back to old habits Flowers

Made DH take a photo of me in running stuff as don't have a full length mirror and I wanted to check he wasn't lying when he said I looked fine. Thought i'd share it with you, sorry about photo quality, light an issue this morning. Still more to go but very happy where I am as was unthinkable a year ago.

PostNot you look fab, a huge well done you really are inspiring and you look very much a runner

Notanurse fantastic news on the half weigh mark and thats a great NSV

Notractors I would so like to try Zumba, but think I’ll have to do it in the confines of my home as I had no coordination Grin

I’m 1 lb down this week, very surprised as AF arrived.

ChestyCoffin · 18/11/2017 17:01

Post you look fabulous!

ChestyCoffin · 19/11/2017 09:50

8oz on over 2 weeks. Included night out etc and I've eaten too much cheese so not bad!

That was last weigh in before holiday as we go Friday.
Total - 3stone 3lbs and 12oz.

Fingers crossed for not to bigger gain on holiday but I'm going to enjoy self and prepared that I will put on. It'll come off right?!

AnotherOtter · 19/11/2017 11:02

Starting weight: 241lb
Current weight: 181.8lb
Loss this week: 0.8lb
Total loss: 59.2lb

Decent week for me in the end. Under 13st by 0.2lb now which is another step on the way. I like to break it up into milestones.

Post, you look great! Just like the runners that zip past me in the park Smile

Sorry to hear things are still crap, notanurse. Well done on your coat NSV. That sounds like a great boost. Interesting to hear how you are dealing with exercise calories.

Enjoy your holiday, Chesty!

Well done to those that have lost and to everyone KOKO.

PostNotInHaste · 19/11/2017 15:33

Well done AnotherOtter, love it when the scales go into a new number bracket!

Chesty have a fabulous time ! The weight will come off and going, gaining and coming back to it is what we'll all need to do for the rest of our lives. One you've done it once it will hopefully give you confidence to believe that this is how it will be from now one and take the pressure off the worry of maintenance a bit as you'll know you can do it.

moonlight1705 · 20/11/2017 10:05

So for me its been:

Starting weight 284lb
Weight Loss (week 1) - 3lb
Weight Loss (week 2) - 2lb
Current weight 279lb

My fitness pal has been great and shall try and keep that up and now I'm trying to do some at home exercises for about 20 minutes a day.

PostNotInHaste · 21/11/2017 10:58

Well done Moonlight , great start Smile

AnotherOtter · 21/11/2017 16:31

Good job Moonlight Smile Can I ask what at home exercise you are doing? I'd like to do more than walking but have no idea where to start.

Thought I'd tell you all of my NSV. Bought a size 20 top in M&S three weeks ago which is the first item of clothes I've bought in a straight-sized shop in 15-20 years and had several compliments on how "well" I am looking. Today I realised that I could actually now go down a size over the Boobs Of Doom (34HH ridiculousness)!
