Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/09/2017 19:49

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

I’ve lost 1 lb this week, so to date 52 lbs lost, 61 lbs to go.

Anyone catch the tv program The truth about slim people on channel 4. Some of it was a bit lame and not really groundbreaking, but interesting seeing people who don’t have an issue with food.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 10/11/2017 15:11

Well done Breaking! I meant to watch that program but missed it, do you think it's worth watching on catch-up?

It's so cold here today, I'm hoping I'm shivering off a few extra calories (much like a chubby hairy pony...Wink). The office heating isn't controlled by us, so it's fingerless gloves all round and mugs of decaf tea!

Checking in.
I'm plodding on, no weigh in this week as it's my early birthday night out tommorow.
I have new frock and stuff and getting my waist length hair cut and dyed tommorow Shock

Dreading the hangover....haven't drank for two years!

BreakingSad · 11/11/2017 08:00

Notractors the show was ok, it didn’t give any startling new info that I didn’t know.

Chesty hope you have a fab night.

I’m really struggling to do this, I feel like there’s no way I can do it, I can’t ever lose that much weight as I’ve got so much to lose.

And at the same time I’m totally terrified of dying or a heart attack or diabetes.

Yet my brain can’t make the connection between these and get my arse in gear.

I feel like I’ve completely ruined my life and I can’t claim it back

PostNotInHaste · 11/11/2017 19:14

Chesty have a lovely time tonight !

AnotherOtter that's useful to know, I might have a go at Podcasts.

Well done BreakingSad . Haven't seen the program but will have a look.

NoTractors, hope you got warm eventually !

Well done NotaNurse. So sorry things are still stressfulFlowers I think managing to keep going through it all bodes really well for the future though which is maybe a tiny silver lining.

Can't be arsed to weigh in as hormones all over the place. I'm KOKOing and bought lots of new clothes as everything too big. Managed to get into a 12 which I bought as something to get into in future, think they are an extremely large 12 though! Saw a friend for first time in ages. Was talking to her DH in kitchen she came back, shrieked Nd literally jumped back in surprise, was funny !

Lego Flowers it is a big thing to do and I think anyone not feeling hugely daunted by it would be naive. But it is something that people do achieve, have a look at the My Fitness Pal forum at some of the success stories. Would it be an idea to go to your GP and see if there is any support they can offer at all?

For now could you try to focus on the first half a stone ? Don't try to make too many changes in one go, it will get too overwhelming. For tonight maybe work out your food for tomorrow , drink some water and do something for yourself - slap oats and banana on your face, read something you'll enjoy reading or listen to some music. Just something for you to look after yourself.

If you're finding the calorie counting isn't suiting you, there's a thread on here called something like No s diet- no sugar, snacks or seconds apart from days beginning with an S I think it is. And there's another about losing weight by being kind to yourself and also well worth reading the lose a whole person thread. There's no one way that works for everyone and this is going to be a series of small steps.

AnotherOtter · 12/11/2017 10:40

Starting weight: 241lb
Current weight: 182.6lb
Loss this week: 1lb
Total loss: 58.4lb

Had a day of sort of maintenance this week as was out for the day with family. I find it tough when eating at other people's houses as I know how much the calorie count can vary so easily. But I need to learn how to maintain and be flexible. Did some good walking this week and managed to avoid talking out loud while listening podcasts and confusing passers by Wink

Chesty, how was your night out?

Notanurse, sorry to hear things are still tough but well done on still logging your food and keeping going. I think logging is key for me too as it's when I stopped in the past that it all turned to shite.

Lego, when you said "I feel like I’ve completely ruined my life and I can’t claim it back", I really empathise with that. But I don't think that's true for anybody. Even by posting here, you are making a change and a claim on a different life. I'm not trying to say that I think you're depressed (no one can do that over the internet) but there is some amazing advice on treating yourself with compassion and dealing with regret in 'Understanding Depression' by Paul Gilbert. I've had that book recommended to me so many times by healthcare professionals and it really is that useful. I hope things improve for you soon Flowers

Right, I have a large chicken and avocado salad with vinegar dressing to try and stave off the ridiculous 4-6pm snacking!...all tracked on MFP...I’ve measured out some porridge oats and brought with me in case I do need something and I have a stir fry for dinner

I’ve made a determined effort for my 10,000 steps today and I’ve done a little routine (100 seconds jogging,
100 side punches
100 high knees
100 high clap
100 foot to bum
100 mini arm rotation
100 elbow to knee cross) that I’ve done the last 2 days....it takes 10 minutes and I’m hoping next week to do it in 9 then 8 the week after etc

I think if I can do it religiously for 3-4weeks then it’ll become easier...I so hope so anyway

Thank you all xx

PostNotInHaste · 13/11/2017 18:40

Well done Lego, that's all really positive. NotaNurse is so right about the time passing anyway and making it count.

Glad you survived Chesty. I really do need to emphasise just how massive this size 12 is as in about a 16 in some places! A year ago a 16 was a very distant dream though so all good.

Coming up against the 'you don't need to lose more weight ' thing now increasingly. I'm countering it with the 'I'm not a healthy BMI yet' thing. It's a bit tricky as not generally my slim friends doing it and I think some people are taking it a bit personally when I say I still need to lose as it makes them evaluate themselves . I definitely do look like I have more to lose though and am still clearly overweight so am ignoring it all and hopefully as not really losing at the moment everyone will get used to what I look like soon and adjust, it's just even I can see I do look very different.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/11/2017 19:47

Post I can totally see that in people I know, of varying sizes, and it is the introspection that's driving it, without a doubt! You've done so well, and come so far in a year, you're totally an inspiration to me.

lego hope your plan saw you through the danger time today Smile

I'm finding things a bit tough at the moment, so I'm aiming to maintain and adding in what I can and what is achievable. Today was drinking more water, as I've slipped a bit from my 2 litres. Tomorrow will be keeping up the water drinking and going for a walk at lunchtime, and so on. I have screaming sweet cravings at the moment (which is unusual for me) so going to have a herbal tea and watch Nigella - there's no chance of me nipping to the shop, so I'm just going to wait it out!

Just wanted to say a quick hi and well done to you all. I’ve been reading and following as I’ve just started my own weight loss journey. I won’t join in as I have started another thread but inspired by you all and wanted to say how brilliant you all are.

As you were. Blush

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/11/2017 20:59

Hi Snap - such nice words! I've had a read of your thread too - feel free to come and join in any time you like if you want a chat. Good luck! Smile

Thank you for the warm welcome and good luck wishes. It’s very motivating to read about people with the same goal, and most of you are much further ahead than me in the journey. I’ll keep reading. Smile

Hi all, having real trouble with this thread - it doesn't appear in my "I'm on" tab, v annoying. Anyone else find that?

I've got a dodgy stomach at the moment so I am now down 24lb on my start weight (post pregnancy #1), having dropped almost half a stone in a fortnight. Hopefully most of that was before the arse rain started otherwise it'll all go back on again immediately!

2 more lbs before I am at my lowest loss level (pre pregnancy #2) so then I am in all new territory!

I've had to go dairy free as DS appears to have CMPA, which isn't too bad, but it means my "treats" seem to involve rather significant levels of dark chocolate...

I agree with Snap that this thread is very inspiring. Can't wait to "catch up" with some of the amazing loses you lot have made.

Hercy · 16/11/2017 06:33

Morning all,

I've been so busy with work I've not had time to keep up with this thread. I hope you are all doing well!

I've still not firmly found my feet - tend to lose over a few weeks, then have a treat which somehow works it's way into a week of bad eating and I put on most of what I have lost in the preceding weeks, then repeat.

I've started just back at the gym as I find it good for clearing my head after a stressful day so hopefully that will help break the cycle. I'm also trying to focus on the fact I'm still 2.5 stone down from January 2016, rather than desperately trying to get back to where I was this time last year (5st down from starting) in an unrealistic timeframe. Will KOKO!

BoredOnMatLeave · 16/11/2017 11:44

Hey everyone,

Just looking for a bit of advice I feel like I've completley lost my mojo. Haven't weighed for 2 weeks as I know it won't be good, probably a couple of lbs up.

Any ideas on how to get back on track? I'm not even sure what's wrong with me I just can't be bothered I guess?

Snap8TheCat · 16/11/2017 16:49

I try to think of how proud I’ll feel of myself when I step on the scales and the number is less than before. It really helps me. Good luck.

BreakingSad · 16/11/2017 17:19

I’m having the same problem with the thread Honeysuckle, it disappears from I’m on after a few days, but it disappeared completely from I’m watching. I use the app on my phone.* *

I get that too BoredOnMatLeave I try and shake up my food and exercise, as I tend to eat and do the same exercises so just get bored.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 16/11/2017 19:46

I'm struggling with mojo too - it's cold, dark, two weeks til payday, the DCs are shattered and squabbling and being little shits actually, and all I really want to do is hibernate until Spring...or at least say fuck it and eat what I want until the New Year Blush

But I'm not going to do that. I'm ending this year lighter than I started (and by quite a lot, if we count the ex moving out Shock) - and when the whole world dusts off the satsuma skins, stilton dust and the very last pig in it's lonely blanket to start their new regime in January...I'll already be ahead of them. And further, because of everything I've learnt this year, from this thread and everyone who has posted on it.

So I'm gritting my teeth and getting on with it, because it's going to be so worth it. Fuck being fat! Grin
