Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017-18 - Part 3

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/09/2017 19:49

Hello, welcome to the third instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread. As we’re getting closer to the end of 2017, I’ve added 2018 for good measure Smile

If you want to read them (but by no means feel obliged!), the first and second threads are here: Part 1 and here: Part 2

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and I think we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way Wink Collectively, we’ve lost 612 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread, I will make one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that, I'm off to spam our old thread to fill it up Grin

I have Boobs of Doom too - and a Belly of Doom too come to think of it.... Hmm

I'm feeling ok this week - did have a muffin yesterday, but it was a considered choice, rather than a snatched mouthful because I hadn't planned properly. It was tasty, but on reflection, it wasn't really worth the calories. All fine though, I have done a lot more walking yesterday and today, so I think it has balanced out.

I have a wee NSV too - I have a couple of evenings out coming up, and a dress that was juuust too tight on the arms now fits comfortably, so even though my weight has stagnated a bit lately, my shape must be readjusting. Does wonders for the confidence Smile

Well done AnotherOtter for getting into the top. I sympathise with the boobs of doom, I'm a 38H and button up tops are a total no go!

Anyway I'm doing exercise around my daily stuff.....you should see the squats I do when chopping an onion. Have started to take things upstairs one by one instead of all at once.

Although best exercise this weekend was digging up a border in the garden.....exhausted still!

Hello, I've just found this thread and wish I'd seen it earlier! This time last year I was 16st 7 and I am currently 12st 6.5. My goal weight is 9st 5, which is exactly 100lbs lighter than my start weight. I suffer from Binge Eating Disorder so losing weight has been a struggle but I'm really seeing the benefits. I'm 27 and I'm the thinnest I've been since I was about 13.

I started out on the Cambridge diet which gave me the boost I needed but I couldn't sustain it and I got stuck in a bit of a binge spiral. I've been doing Slimming World since August and enjoying it but as I've gotten more into fitness, I've moved towards calorie counting.

I hope you don't mind me joining you!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 22/11/2017 17:06

Hi all, you’re all doing so well!

I have had a totally crap 6 days and have done appallingly badly and had a meltdown over it all but I have realised that no one is going to come and take the fat suit off for me, I’m literally the only person that can do something about it.

Which is my starting point, I’m going to get back on MFP and Fitbit and start tracking. I weigh 343Ib and that’s not going anywhere on its own is it?!

So fingers crossed I can get my arse in gear again.

I’m still petrified about diabetes but that’s no use unless I use it as motivation!

I’m holding to try and find a chemist I can weigh myself properly at (will the print out ones go that high?!) as I don’t trust my scales at home as they change depending on where in the room they are!

Fingers crossed! xx

amusedbush · 23/11/2017 09:17

Down another 1lb overnight, which is nice and unexpected! I'm also wearing a dress that I bought a couple of years ago with grand plans of slimming into it. It's a shift dress with absolutely no stretch so very unforgiving, and it fits beautifully now. I did laugh that it's a size 16 on the label and has been such a struggle to fit into, when I'm now a size 12/14 in every other shop I buy clothes from! It shows that clothes labels mean nothing at all.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 23/11/2017 12:18

Welcome amused and well done on your loss so far, that’s amazing!

Has anyone here ever gone to a group such as Overeaters Anonymous? I overheard a conversation about it and must say I was intrigued. I might do some investigation into it - group stuff isn’t really my thing, but I’d be interested if any of you guys have tried it?

OP posts:
Hercy · 23/11/2017 12:21

Clothes labels really are ridiculous aren't they? I even have items from the same shop which are supposedly the same size, but the fit tells me there's a difference of 1/2 sizes!

Anyway, hello all! I'm still plodding along, still busy at work but managing to get a respectable daily step count and a few gym sessions a week and eating well.

A lot of what post said resonated with me, so rather than constantly thinking about how far I've slipped back, I am thinking about how far I've come. So I'm going to be using my start weight from Jan 2016 for the purpose of stats:

Loss this week = 1lb
Total Lost = 33lbs
Total to lose = 84lbs

Not a huge loss, but I think there's some hormonal water retention going on which will hopefully see me with a bigger loss next week.

Determined to get as much as I can off for Christmas so I can eat it all back so I can get some good habits ingrained and not have such a daunting task in the new year.

Well done to post in looking fit in her running gear, notanurse amused tractors and everyone I've missed on your NSV.

And good luck/KOKO to those that a struggling - Lego it's taken me about 10 months (and 3 stone gain!) to really feel like I've finally found my feet again. Just keep trying and eventually it will stick!

BoredOnMatLeave · 24/11/2017 08:03

Well done to everyone!

I started clubbercise last week, it's the sort of thing I would usually hate but I had so much fun and it really felt like a work out.

Not sure what my last weight was on here...

Start weight : 232lb
Today's weight: 206lb
Total Loss of 26lb

ChestyCoffin · 24/11/2017 08:40

The days finally arrived, holiday!
See you all in 3 weeks Grin

Hercy · 24/11/2017 08:43

BreakingSad · 24/11/2017 10:30

Have a lovely time Chesty

Well done Hercy it all adds up

Welcome amused and KOKO Lego

I've STS this week, just happy its not a gain Grin

Juicyamy · 24/11/2017 13:17

Just seen this thread, I had massive amount of weight to loose, A friend recommended Juicing and blending to me just after my second boy was born, I was like not another fad diet, But desperately un happy and fed up. I gave it ago! 3 years later 3 stone down, I run now too a couple times a week, I never would of believed that if you would of told me that 3yrs back. Now i keep the weight of by 1-2 days a week of just juice then the rest of the week generally eating healthy with a bit of exercise thrown in. Its been a massive catalyst for change, what I didn't realise when I was bigger is the type of food we eat like processed sugars fats etc are highly addictive thats why many diets fail! I fell upon Jason vales 5:2 plan .. it crazy made sense, and released me from certain foods addictions i didn't even know I had. Many of us who are bigger with lots of pounds to loose are over fed, but under nourished! with severe lack of nutrients, we need to flood the body of nutrients too reverse the extra weight and food addictions. xxxx wishing you lots of luck on your journey I hope some of my gabble helped lol

Moonlight, that's interesting that you are incorporating exercise throughout your day. Sounds like you have good motivation. I need to sit down with google and make a plan. Too much choice of how to exercise!

Well done on the NSV, Tractors. Hope you enjoy your evenings out Smile

Welcome Amused, you have done so well already! I have had eating disorders and other mental health problems in the past too. The thing my eating disorder psychologist drummed into me was that if you restrict over a certain threshold (and the threshold varies for each person) then you will binge. Your brain makes it happen. I didn't believe it for years but I do now after watching myself do it over and over and over. So now my restriction is mild (I eat 1700 calories a day aiming for 1lb off a week) and I don't get those overwhelming urges to binge. Have you read Fairburn's Overcoming Binge Eating? Some parts of the NHS 'prescribe' it now.

How did you get on finding a scale, Lego?

Have a great time on holiday, Chesty!

Well done to everyone for KOKO even though it's tough Flowers

Well done on the NSV AnotherOtter I'm a 34 H so feel your pain on that front! Loving NoTractors boobs and belly of doom Grin Nomidea on the Overeaters anonymous nad I don't know of anyone who has tried it.

Well done on the loss Hercy, 33lbs is a great amount to have lost and exactly a third of 100lbs so a big milestone. Having done some clothes shopping recently I totally agree about the sizing. One top I tried on was huge at a 16 so had to get a 14 which I am very definitely not given the boobs of doom. Took advantage of 25% off yesterday and got 3 pairs of jeans in the next size down in anticipation. Also Everything for 5 is proving useful for a few bits and worth keeping an eye on for a few basics.

Well done Boredonmaternity and clubbercise does sound like fun!

A belated Bon Voyage to Chesty, have lots of fun!

Well done Juicyarmy on your loss. I've been having a go at 5 2 the last couple of weeks, though not juicing and am finding it quite helpful as another tool in the arsenal against weight loss. I haven't been going right down to 500 calories, 757, 600 and 657 so far. Found it surprisingly ok and realise how much of my hunger is psychological. What I have found is that it seems to slightly reduce my appetite overall.

Well done on STS Breakingsad and welcome to Amused,

Lego sorry to hear you're struggling Flowers Can I suggest a couple of things ? Take some measurements, they are helpful to look back on and have you got a smallish size plate ? Asda sell some for £1 that are good for this. Next look back at your Fitbit data and see how much you are burning on average a day. To start with don't go in hard , aim for eating 500 cals less than you burn for a week. Plan your menus out and make sure it includes your favourite foods.

We generally shop in Aldi these days so can give some suggestions from there. For curry their Slim free Chicken Saag is 322 and Bombay potato 226 or thereabouts so about 550 for a large plateful of curry that is actually pretty nice. Their Cucina Hawaiian Pizza is 668 calories for the whole thing , not the best but ok to sort a pizza hit. A pot of tiramisu is 221, cheese curls (quaver type things ) are 65 cals, 2 mini babybel light plus cherry tomatoes are about 100 cals. Twirls from the 4 pack are 113 cals.

Those are just suggestions, not sure what your things are. But whatever they are there will be a way to build them in. Others will disagree but I do think it is important to have the things you like or the whole deprivation thing bites you in the arse. Over time this will become easier, take baby steps at first. Don't put pressure on yourself to lose however many pounds, just focus on 1lb. Look at a pound of butter in the supermarket nad tell yourself that you are going to get rid of that pound. Give it a name, let's call it Bertha. In a week's time you are going to be Bertha free. If it doesn't happen this week then it will another week. By Christmas you are going to rid of that Bertha nad then you can focus on your next pound which is a Boris.

PostNotInHaste · 25/11/2017 07:50

Loss this week 1.75lb
Total loss to date 88.5lb
To lose 21.5lb

Fessed up to close friend how much I'd lost nad what I had left to lose. She did the whole do you really need to lose that much more thing. I did the yes I need to so am at top of my BMi and then got but is BMI any good, it says I could be 7.4 stone. Took a deep breath and said yes but that is a range and I am only aiming for the top of my range as my wrists over 6.5 inches and have big boobs so feel I should be at the top end of the range and that would mean I would have a BMI of 25 which is a fair bit higher than yours of 21 . I know everyone means well but it's getting a bit annoying.

DD on the other hand is great, said how proud she is of me and said she gets that I am fit but still have fat off my belly to lose. Which I really really obviously do and why I am getting a bit pissed off with the 'you don't need to lose more' people . It's all sitting around my poor vital organs, a big roll of it - the worse place for it re health, yes I look slimmer than I was by a huge amount but I am still visibly fat and I want the best health outcome possible . Sorry, slight rant !

Post That made me cry! Thank you for taking the time to write it xxx

I haven't found any scales at all in about 8 chemists and the Ines at the gym have a 2 foot wide dial about 6ft off the ground and I can't bear everyone to see it.

I feel like I've gone too far, like there's no way baCk and I've completely destroyed my heAlth, I feel like I've been having heart palpitations and my blood pressure feels v high..I feel like my eyesight is worse but I've worn glasses for 22 years...it DOES get worse anyway...I'm contributing everything to my weight and it's ruining my mental health....I can't get a doctors appointment this side of Christmas and I just feel like it's all too late, I can't stop my body from getting worse and I've destroyed it.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 25/11/2017 17:04

Oh lego, take some biiiiig deep breaths - it's not too late at all. Every little thing you do now is a positive step forward to improving your health - both physical and mental.

I even found this link about a 63 yr old woman who lost 225lbs - if she can do it, we can too Link to Today - 63 yr old woman loses 225 lbs

I totally understand your anxiety - it's almost paralysing, but you have to try to keep going, even if it's a baby-step shuffle. Every good decision you make will help - every time you do a bit more steps than you used to, every time you slightly reduce a portion size, every time you have a simple coffee rather than a frappemachhiatiocappoulattecino with whipped cream (I'm a black coffee drinker, but I'm sure they sell these in Starbucks) - it all adds up.

Read Post's brilliant post above - let's kick Bertha in the arse, and then go for Boris. Fuck 'em both. You in? We're all right here with you.

OP posts:
amusedbush · 25/11/2017 17:18

5lbs off for me this week, totally gobsmacked as I lost 5lbs last week and 3lbs the week before that.

That's 60.5lbs in total. 23.5 until my initial goal and 39.5 to my ultimate goal weight.

I can't believe how far I've come in a year.

I've had quite the cry this evening! Thank you so much, truly xx

I'm really struggling with the idea that I'm going to go blind, have a heart attack or a stroke because of something IVE done...no one else did this too me, I did it, I fucked up.

I found my bosses Fitbit HR and wore it to check my heart rate...95...this is way above normal isn't it...I'm so scared I'm going to die because of this, its consuming my entire day and pretty much every thought

How quickly can I change this? How quickly can I get my HR and blood pressure down?!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 25/11/2017 20:37

I love the idea of Boris and Bertha :)

I'm just so scared I can't do it

I want to know my true weight but I just can work out where to get it done, my scales at home are so uneven it's crazy

Thank you x
