Anyone doing one at the moment?

I've started exante this morning. Last year I lost 3 stone with Cambridge but Exante is loads cheaper. No meeting though so I need moral support if any one can give it!

Starting weight 249.2lb. Awful I know so no need to tell me.

Snap8! Welcome back. Thanks for starting the thread in the first place. it helped me immensely last year. They do say that you are more likely to succeed at losing weight if you join forces, and this thread is mega helpful to me!

I’m half way through my week now and I am hungry. Well, I don’t even think I’m hungry but I want to eat food!!!

I keep questioning why I’m doing this extreme diet and thinking if I am disciplined enough to stick to it, then I should be disciplined enough to stick to any diet, where I actually get to eat food!

Juliecloud · 14/01/2018 01:00

How long did people stay on step 1 of the Cambridge diet? I’m on day 5 of having 3 products a day, totally 600 calories. I was going to go on to the next step after a week and start having a 200 calorie meal as well but I can’t decide if I should stay on step 1 for longer or not.

Tormundsbeard · 14/01/2018 04:54

Hi juliecloud I am on my third week of Cambridge Step 1. It is the fastest way to see a difference which is good for motivation I think.

Kittensgalore · 14/01/2018 10:16

I'm not doing Cambridge but am on total solution with exante which sounds similar to stage one. I was going to do it for two weeks but I might keep going for longer if I can. I have added in small amounts of protein on a couple of occasions when I have felt like caving but generally am keeping to it. Have a big headache this weekend, have had lots of water so not sure why but I do find it much easier to be strict during the week.
Hope you have had a better couple of days Buxton? I definitely think wine is the killer for me. I love a wine! As soon as I have a mere sniff all self control is out the window. We went to the cinema yesterday and I heard a cork pop and nearly caved straight away Grin.

Snap8TheCat · 14/01/2018 10:24

Thanks for the welcome back. I’m still doing well. I did eat a few bits of chicken left over from my children’s dinner (in the pan not off their plates) but exchanged it for a shake so hopefully the calorie deficit was still there. Weigh day in the morning!

How is everyone else’s weekend going?

Kittensgalore · 14/01/2018 13:14

Sounds good Snap a bit of chicken won't be a problem at all.

I've just had to remove myself from the kitchen. Just made the kids lunch, quiche just out the oven which smelt delicious with hummus and veggies to dip and left over pizza slices. I just find it so hard to stop myself eating their food. Am trying to keep busy planning another craft project. Have just recovered my daughters pin board in a Harry Potter esq style and now onto a puppet theatre for my son. Need to keep my mind occupied on something else other than food.

Day 17 on exantes man plan, 7.75lb down. Woke up with massive cold this morning and think I may have to take a break. My holiday is in 69 days Confused

Buxtonstill · 15/01/2018 16:57

Hi everybody! Hope you’re all doing ok. I’ve had a couple of ropey days. My Mum has had this debilitating flu, so in addition to work, I have been going to hers which is. 3hr round trip to make sure she is ok. I have taken my eye off the ball a little bit, but still trying to keep focussed. I’m not going anywhere; I want this weight loss too much!

Juliecloud · 15/01/2018 17:46

My official weigh in is tomorrow. I’ve stayed completely on plan, 3 products a day and loads of water so I’m hoping for a decent loss!

Hope your mum is ok.

Snap8TheCat · 15/01/2018 18:07

Weighed myself this morning, lost 6lb! Quite pleased with that.

@Snap8TheCat that's fab! Well done

Is that your first week?

Snap8TheCat · 15/01/2018 20:15

Yes it is (this time!).

Thanks. My Mum is slowly getting better. She’s 78, so will take her a little bit longer to recover. It’s just a case of me making sure she has fresh food etc in, cleaning round a bit, and giving her a bit of company. If only dashing around on trains and buses burnt big calories! After a few hours travelling in the cold,a shake doesn’t seem enough, but I am trying! Keep with it everybody!

OhHolyFuck · 16/01/2018 10:00

Second weigh-in of the month and 5lb off. I am pleased, makes up for the disgusting slop that every meal seems to consist of
I've not cheated once in 16 days, had my 4 packs a day plus water/tea/coffee and that's it, why can't I do this on more 'normal' diets that I've tried like SW? I'm too all or nothing, can't do 'points' or 'syns' because as soon as I'm allowed once treat thing, it all goes out the window

Juliecloud · 16/01/2018 21:38

I’m the same, OHolyfuck. I’ve completely stuck to this. Why couldn’t I have done that before when I was doing WW or SW?

I lost 6lb today. I have to confess to being a bit disappointed. I have lost that before in the first week of a diet where I’ve eaten far more than I have on the Cambridge diet. I’ve moved from step 1 to step 2 today. Now I’ve got stomach cramps!

Juliecloud · 17/01/2018 09:13

Gaaaaahhhhhh! I weighed myself this morning (I weigh myself every morning) and I weighed half a pound more today than I did yesterday! How is that possible? I’m completely sticking to the diet, only eating 3 products and yesterday I started eating 1 200 calorie meal from the recommended foods. I’m doing 16:8 too, i’m only eating in an 8-hour window. I’m drinking LOADS of water, could I be drinking too much? I always do at least 10000 steps per day but I don’t do any other exercise.

I feel like I’m doing everything right, so why isn’t the weight falling off me? Do I need to do more exercise?

Also, how do I know if I’m in Ketosis?

wintermonster · 17/01/2018 15:07

I start CWP today.
I've had my first meeting and my measurements were taken. I was surprised as I didn't think I weighed this much or had such wide hip measurement!

My starting point is 13.8stone
Waist - 37.5inches
Hips - 50 inches
Chest - 36 inches
Height - 5ft 3

I comfortably fit into size 16 bottoms or size 14 leggings, so when I looked up 50 inch hips and found that's the measurement of a size 22 I was really surprised 😬

AliBingo · 17/01/2018 16:03

Good luck winter monster! I started CWP on Monday, on step 1a, so far so good...

wintermonster · 17/01/2018 16:19

@AliBingo they've suggested I start on step 2.

What's your goal BMI and when do you hope to achieve it?

AliBingo · 17/01/2018 16:36

My BMI is bigger than yours, I am starting at 16st12 at 5'4" tall and initially I would love to be down to your starting weight! But eventually I would like to be 11.5 stone or ideally less than 11 stone.

I have said I would like to lose 2 stone by Easter. Really I would like to get another couple at least off by Summer and maybe even more.

How about you? If you stick at it you should be at goal well before the summer!

Which is Step 2, how many products and how many meals?

wintermonster · 17/01/2018 17:05

Step 2 is 3x Cambridge items plus 1x 200cal carb free homemade meal.

Il definitley need to get creative with that!

My overall goal is to get to 25bmi which is approx 10.7 stone for me.

I want to lose it in time for wedding dress shopping!!

I have a shorter term goal of 1 stone that brings me just under 30bmi by the time I go back to work after maternity leave in a months time.

Fingers crossed!

Kittensgalore · 18/01/2018 08:29

Juliecloud- I'm no expert in any way, just learning as I go but I think if you are not hungry that is major sign that you are in ketosis. Do Cambridge have a Facebook page you could join? I've joined the Exante one and it's been really helpful. Folk there have mentioned Ketostix which I think you can get in Boots or I'm sure Amazon would have them. You can use them to check if you are in Ketosis but from what I've read the main benefit of Ketosis is that it stops you feeling hungry not that you'd lose more or less weight according to whether you are in it or not so as long as you are not starving hungry it doesn't really matter. Disclaimer ( that may all be rubbishGrin). Also google the Woosh effect (thanks Buxton!) that helps explains why the weight loss is so unpredictable at times. Do your clothes feel any looser? My knickers definitely felt less tight this morning!! Keep going everyone - we can do it!

Buxtonstill · 18/01/2018 09:44

Stayed the same this week, but only to be expected given the circumstances. I haven’t given up though. My Mum is slowly recovering from the flu lurgy, so I won’t have to dash up and down there quite so much. Also, I want to get back to my swimming. I just haven’t had the time. Anybody feeling disappointed about staying the same, google ‘diet whoosh effect’ keep with it, and you will hopefully have a drop in weight very soon. Good luck everyone!
