Anyone doing one at the moment?

I've started exante this morning. Last year I lost 3 stone with Cambridge but Exante is loads cheaper. No meeting though so I need moral support if any one can give it!

Starting weight 249.2lb. Awful I know so no need to tell me.

I start CD on 17th Jan.

I've never done anything like this before but having a baby 7 months ago and no weight loss past 4 months despite increasing exercise and eating healthily means I need that kickstart.

I'm very nervous of failing.

I have a supportive OH who says he will do everything he can to not tempt me away from it

Kittensgalore · 31/12/2017 12:22

I'm starting exante on 4th Or 5th think. I'm away just now but have a big box of shakes and bars waiting at home. I do feel determined but also very worried I won't be able to do it. I don't want people judging me. Either for doing a VLCD in the first place or not sticking to it or sticking to it and then re-gaining. But something has to change. Am hoping this place will be a good support and we can help each other along. Are the first three or so days the worst in terms of how you feel physically?

Buxtonstill · 31/12/2017 14:26

It may be hard for the first few days, as your stomach shrinks. Nobody is in any position to judge you, whatever you do. My advice is to drink lots and lots of water. Get an empty two litre bottle, fill with tap water, and aim to drink 2 bottles a day. It will stop you feeling hungry eventually. You can do this, ignore all your negative thoughts. You do have it in you! If you feel hungry go to bed earlier, paint your nails, have a bath. You are so capable of making the changes you deserve.

TrinitySquirrel · 31/12/2017 14:32

Exante is hard only when you get the keto flu then its great after that. It becomes fuel instead of food and you tend to reevaluate what you eat. I lost 2st and kept it off. Got pregnant and lost another 2st because of no appetite/ms and then had my gallbladder removed and it's all gone to shit 😂 no matter what I eat at the moment I'm gaining. My consultant said its common after gb surgery though and can take a year for the body to readjust.

I can't wait to get back on to Exante & keto!

TrinitySquirrel · 31/12/2017 14:33

Although DO NOT drink 4ltrs of water a day Hmm You will potentially kill yourself with that.

2.5ltrs a day is plenty.

Kittensgalore · 31/12/2017 14:58

Thanks Trinity & Buxton, I really, really want to do this. We have a holiday booked at Easter so that is a goal. No way is DP going to be supportive though, he will think it's madness and I'm terrible for hoovering up the kids left overs. Need to learn some self discipline. Is there any way to manage the keto flu stage so it's not so awful and is the bad breath a thing that lasts all the way through or just at the beginning?

festivedinosaur · 31/12/2017 17:15

I've not heard of the keto flu stage.

Does that happen to everyone? Is it bad? I have a baby to look after so this wouldn't be good

I also don't want to be judged for doing a VLCD.

I have told DP that I don't want people knowing until I know if it's successful or not.
For now it's our little secret

Buxtonstill · 31/12/2017 18:36

Get a pot of chilli pepper powder and as soon as you take the kids leftovers into the kitchen sprinkle it liberally so you are not tempted. Btw I drink 4 litres+ of water a day and I’m not dead! I drink that over about 16 hours. The kidneys can safely eliminate 1 litre an hour from your body, or around 25 litres a day.

Buxtonstill · 31/12/2017 18:41

I wouldn’t bother telling others people what you are doing. There will always be one loudmouth whose sisters boyfriends mother did a VLCD and gained 10 stone in two months. There will always be one who wants to take the wind out of your sails and pee on your parade. This thread and the negative comments some have made are proof of that. People always like to start giving advice, just like when you have a new baby. If people remark on weight loss just say you have been eating a little healthier since Christmas; but it is nobodies business but your own.

Buxtonstill · 01/01/2018 19:33

I hope everybody who started today had a good day!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 02/01/2018 06:23

Good morning!

Just checking in!

I'm not going to weigh today. I weighed during my "flu diet" and I know I'll be heavier now, and I'm determined not to demotivate myself!

Goals this week:

Finish one of my blanket orders (added advantage of keeping my hands busy)

Wondercore every day

30 press ups
30 crunches
1 min plank
30 tricep dips
1 minute of scissor kicks
30 ab tucks
10 minutes of "bicycling"

I've decided to go back to eating fish again.

Today's calorie goal- 500.

Lunch: spicy tomato and shrimp with cauli rice (250)

Dinner: soup (150)
Eaten between 12pm-8pm

1 multivitamin

Today's non- diet goal: post Christmas sort out of dumping ground bedroom.

I'm ready!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 02/01/2018 06:26

Oh, and do we have an official "Weigh Day"? I'd suggest Friday. The weekend seems to be everyone's 'downfall', not just mine 😃, and it'll either motivate us into not binging, or give us a few days before the next weigh-in to try to counteract any damage done!

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 02/01/2018 06:31

I've read about tge weight loss of VLCDs being hard to maintain, and, actually, I get it! Personally, if when I reach my GW, I'll be increasing my daily calories by about 100 a week, and monitoring my weight throughout, until I reach a more normal level.

amusedbush · 02/01/2018 10:53

My weigh day is Saturday morning because it's the day of the week that I'm consistently at my lightest. No idea how that works but I'm always lightest on a Saturday no matter what diet I'm doing!

The past two days have not gone well. Saturday was day four and I spent most of the day crying, resentful, angry and starving hungry. I gave in with a binge, then last night I had Indian takeaway Sad

Trying again today.

OhHolyFuck · 02/01/2018 11:01

Hello, hope I'm not too late to join.
I started yesterday on slim&save, got a headache ATM, need to crack on with the fluids, had a fruit tea this morning but that's it so far
Need to get through the next few days...

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 02/01/2018 11:51

OhHolyFuck by this time next week the first, hardest week will be over!

Buxtonstill · 02/01/2018 12:03

No rules on this thread. Weigh in on the day best for you, or everyday if that helps you. Amusedbush - today is a new day. Take this one day at a time. Well done on you for coming on here to say you haven’t done quite so well. Do you have an outfit you’re hoping to get into? Why don’t you hang it where you will see it every morning? I have a dinner party tonight, then I’m right on board from tomorrow morning. I’ve done this before, and determined to do it again! There are no more sweets or treats at work. Given all the unopened stuff to a food bank, and the opened stuff to the younger kids who are skinny as heck and eat all they like. Luckily the majority in the office have decided to eat healthily this new year, so there won’t be as many temptations yet!

Buxtonstill · 02/01/2018 12:04

Good luck everybody! We’re awake for 16-17 hours - grit your teeth through this first week!

Kittensgalore · 02/01/2018 12:20

Buxton, how do you manage at work? Do your colleagues know you are doing a VLCD? We tend to sit and eat lunch together, so will have to do something else, I don't want them to know about it as I know some of them would try and persuade me not to do it. Good luck everyone else, there are bound to be wobbles, we mustn't feel bad about that.

FruitCider · 02/01/2018 12:27

Day 5 for me, sneaky weigh in half way through the week and I’ve lost 4lb so far! X

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 02/01/2018 12:29

FruitCider good job!

Buxtonstill · 02/01/2018 12:53

Kittens, I say I’m trying to eat healthily; I say I have eaten a really good breakfast (I have, in shake and vitamins form)and have a lovely meal to look forward to when I get in. I fill my shaker with water, add the powder and take two muniutes to drink it in a quiet place. (Even been known to go and neck it in the loo., ) is it possible that you can invent things to do every other lunchtime (pick up a prescription, phone about your gas bill etc,) an join them just as they are finishing lunch? If you tell them what you are doing, yes, someone will always try and put you down and make you feel bad about what you are doing. Fruit cider- nice one! Onwards and downwards!

Kittensgalore · 02/01/2018 12:58

Yes, well done Fruitcider, very encouraging!

OhHolyFuck · 02/01/2018 13:33

Thanks allroads I'm hanging on in there! Had porridge and a shake (had it hot though so more like hot chocolate) and feeling ok, got a 'meal' (cottage pie) and a bar to go but I'll have those at work tonight

Well done fruitcider, hope I'll get similar results!

FruitCider · 02/01/2018 14:15

Thanks all! Struggling today as my child has an inset day and they won’t stop eating 😳😳😳😳😳 so I’ve got my emergency box of slender sip out! x
