Anyone doing one at the moment?

I've started exante this morning. Last year I lost 3 stone with Cambridge but Exante is loads cheaper. No meeting though so I need moral support if any one can give it!

Starting weight 249.2lb. Awful I know so no need to tell me.

Hi everyone, the weekends are difficult aren't they?? Didn't have the wine in the end took myself off to bed early and out of temptations way. I find it's not really the glass of wine that's the problem it's the effect it has on my willpower! I am really hungry today. Nice to see a few more people posting it does help to see what you are all up to and the things that help or don't.

Buxtonstill · 09/07/2017 20:01

Hi everybody! 18st 4, so 8 ounces off since yesterday. Did a shed load of digging in the garden so hope it helps. Also made an industrial size pot of rattatouille. (Think 2 aubergines, 6 courgettes, 15 onions, 6 tins of chopped toms, 10 chopped peppers - so yeah loads!) used about 1 tablespoon of olive oil and one of Demerara, but it made about 20 odd portions. All frozen now, but I did keep filling a mug and eating it. Not too worried as no one ever got fat eating vegetables, but it is quite a weight to have inside me. I don't expect to lose for a couple of days. Drank loads of water too, so will be up in the night to wee no doubt!

UpinScots · 09/07/2017 22:10

I've not been on long UpInScots, is this your first time doing it? First 4 days are the worst I find. (This is my second time on exante)

Yes this is my first time. I've tried cutting back on sugar, smaller portions, more exercise but found it really tough to shift anything, bloody PCOS making it harder so i'm really hoping that the strict VLCD will do some good.

My sleep cycle is currently off atm so my day didn't start until 2.30pm Blush

I'm currently very very hungry. My 3rd and final shake of the day isn't until 11.30pm and i'm having 1litre water between shakes. I live in shared flat and my room is the closest to the kitchen so when my flatmates cook, their food smells are invading my room and making me drool Envy I did take a 30 minute walk earlier but I have 4 flatmates who cook at various times.

Currently sat telling myself that I can't just start another day and that no, it wont be okay if I go to the shop to buy a bag of sweets just this once. I will prevail!

AppleJacques · 11/07/2017 07:48

You can do it UpInScots! Must be so tough for you being so close to the kitchen, if you ever feel like you might cave try just having an extra shake (much better than eating food and knocking yourself back out of keto)
I should have weighed myself this morning but forgot will do it tomorrow but did a cheeky mid week weigh in and I'm not sure I've lost a lot though I can see the fats shrunk a tiny bit so that's good!
hope everyone has a good day :)

UpinScots · 11/07/2017 10:50

Thanks Apple. I did wonder if an extra shake would be okay on occasion but being so early into the plan I didn't want to start off wrong.

So yesterday evening I had to pop into my local Aldi for non-food stuffs and picked up a bag of Tangfastics, halfway across the shop I realise what i've done and take them back to the shelf. Back across the shop i'm having a silent but probably very facially visible argument with myself that yet again I do NOT need the sweets.

I'm at the PCOS doctor later this week so i'll ask her to weigh me properly as I don't actually have any scales (Used the ones in my gym a month ago and in line with other weigh ins both gym and doctors 13st has been my hovering point)

AppleJacques · 12/07/2017 07:47

Weighed myself today and I'm 14.2 so have lost 5lbs I'm a bit disappointed but I knew it wouldn't be that much (lost more like 9lbs my first week last time) but! I am lighter than I was last week so I'm keeping positive.

Well done for resisting the sweets UpInScots! Def best to stay on plan where you can but on days I was really desperate last time round I'd have an extra shake and it didn't seem to effect me too badly so it's should be ok if you're having a really bad day in the following weeks :)

Pinkiepromisex · 12/07/2017 08:21

Well done apple!! 5 pounds is loads and means you'll get through the half stone mark in 2 weeks.
Really slow for me at the minute but my calories are nearly 900 a day so edged up a bit Blush Good news is that I have got into the next stone bracket by only half a pound but still Smile Had tk laugh at the tangtastics upinscots I love these and could easily demolish a huge bag without even thinking about it.
Hope everyone has a good day.

AppleJacques · 12/07/2017 08:46

Thanks pinkie :) well done on reaching your next bracket! my trousers aren't pinching my tummy roles so much so that's a relief for me Grin

UpinScots · 12/07/2017 12:35

Way to go Apple! 5lbs seems like alot to me. Pinkie, half a pound or not, a win is a win Smile

Today feels a bit easier, instead of pacing the floor waiting for my next shake i'm sat typing this post.

I am still dreaming of real food in the evenings though so i've been trying to find recipes that would fit my 'fussy' eating style and not impact the low carb/ketosis.

From what I can tell, Konjac rice, chicken, chicken stock cube and broccoli are all fine for ketosis so I was going to try making a soup for my evening meal.

Pinkiepromisex · 12/07/2017 13:27

I have a soup maker upinscots it's fab. Not made any in a few weeks but you've made me want to now! What's konjac rice??

AppleJacques · 12/07/2017 14:40

Ooo, is that rice the stuff that's not actually rice? I've never tried it, would love to hear what it tastes like. Shopping delivery due today and apart from stuff for the kids I've not orderd any treats for myself, shopping was a bit cheaper without the crap I normally get as well Blush

Pinkiepromisex · 12/07/2017 14:55

I've been using the cauliflower rice which I like but will have a look out for this as well.

UpinScots · 12/07/2017 15:53

It's rice/noodles/pasta made with Konjac flour (plant stuff). Apparently the smell is horrific and fishy when opened but that goes when you rinse the stuff. Holland and Barrett have a bogof offer on packs according to the website.

The important stuff though;-

Per 100g
Energy 148KJ / 35Kcal
Fat 0.14g
of which are saturates 0g
Carbohydrates 8.4g
of which are sugars 0.5g
Fibre 1.3g
Proteins

UpinScots · 12/07/2017 15:56

Pinkiepromisex I have tried cauliflower rice before and despite liking cauliflower, I didn't enjoy it as a rice substitute at all which is a pity because i've heard cauliflower makes a great pizza base

Pinkiepromisex · 12/07/2017 16:34

Pizza base! Now that's an idea. Thanks for the info on the konjac rice - really low calories so must be worth a try. Let me know what you think.

AppleJacques · 12/07/2017 17:21

I did try cauliflower rice once, I fried it up with an egg I thought it wasn't too bad but I'll have too look up the pizza base thing, that sounds interesting.
Buxton, how are getting on with the trampoline? It looks like it might be a fun way of helping get rid of some extra weight (unlike my bike which just sits in the garage)

Buxtonstill · 12/07/2017 23:05

Hi, hope everybody is ok! Met with the dietician on Monday and her scales said 18/ 4 . Been away for a couple of days, and half a pound up, but not disheartened. Love being able to check in here, it keeps me motivated.

user1468234673 · 13/07/2017 14:42

I've started LighterLife today as they have a 40% off offer, I've heard good things so feeling hopeful to lose this 3 stone!

I really need the counselling side of things as I can never stick to SW or WW.

Has anyone else done LL?

Buxtonstill · 13/07/2017 15:00

Still the same weight, but pleased to say my hba1c has halved . If you know diabetes, you will know that is good! from 11.5 to 5.5. The trampoline is going good; I am starting of with 10 minute bursts. I just search for some dance music on spotify and its easy to get a rhythm going. Its a lot less strain running on there than marching on the spot and I can wear just a bra and knickers!
Hope evreybody else is doing ok. If you're having a bad day, still come on here. And remember - Drink lots of water :-)

user1468234673 · 13/07/2017 15:02

Are you still doing LL? Did you join a group?

I've signed up today, looking forward to getting started.

They had a discount code so I thought it's the perfect time.

Buxtonstill · 13/07/2017 15:34

I'm doing Optifast. Its what the Drs used who did the Newcastle/reversing diabetes diet. My Dr prescribes it.

UpinScots · 13/07/2017 18:06

Well my week of testing the waters with VLCD is almost over. Once i've been properly paid I will most certainly be buying a bulk order of shakes/bars to last 4-6 weeks.

I feel fine, only took a few days to adjust, today is actually a struggle to remember I need to have my shake/eat as the pangs aren't there.

I am however quite unhappy with my weigh in at the docs today. I really thought I was 82kg, i'm actually 88kg Sad guess I should try and budget in some scales too come August.

I did ask the doc if I was okay medically to be doing this kind of diet and she said that I would be fine and what i'm currently doing (2L water, trying to walk more each day) is what she'd be recommending anyway. Apparently for people like myself they'd recommend the blood diet for 6 weeks which is 800 cals a day so my 600-800 a day is good too.

Pinkiepromisex · 15/07/2017 06:12

Morning all, happy weekend! Managed to stay under 1000 cals yesterday and went out for tea so pleased with that. Out again tonight though!! Slow progress with me but my calories have been up so can't complain. On hols in a few weeks so my plan while I'm there is to keep control by only eating lunch and dinner nothing in between and wine is allowed Wink. Won't be counting calories but hopefully there is a little bit of damage control and I will have to deal with the scales when I get back.

Pinkiepromisex · 16/07/2017 22:14

Hope everyone is ok. I've done ok considering 2 meals out. Back to normal tomorrow.

AppleJacques · 17/07/2017 07:12

Hello, I'm here, sorry had a busy weekend and forgot to check in :) I've been ok, stuck to the diet apart from having a bit of cheese on Saturday so not too bad.
Hi User, when are you starting?
Well done Pinkie for being so good as you've been eating out, must be hard, I've got my first eating out situation on Saturday, not sure yet if I should just skip the meal part altogether and meet them after (not sure I'm strong enough yet to resist)
UpInScots hope you're doing ok? I was over a stone heavier than I thought I was, its a horrible shock isn't it but it's made me realise how out of hand I've let my weight get so I've got to sort it.
Hope everyone has an ok Monday :)
