Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

4lbs is amazing, irishe congrats!

irishe · 15/05/2017 21:53

Thanks cult

Lets hope it's a real 4lbs!

iloveredwine · 16/05/2017 05:48

2lbs down this morning so 12 off so far. 219 now.

MirabelleTree · 16/05/2017 07:41

Well done Iloveredwine, irishe and Sulusu.

Cult I'm sorry you're not well. Yes a Macdonald's happy meal is fine. I am eating to some guidelines that I've found have worked over the last 6 months but nothing is banned as I feel that increases the risk of being either on or off a diet and I really want to break that mindset. Prefer to think of it as being in control of my weight .

I kind of follow the 80% good nutrition then relax about the other 20%. You'll have come in under calories for yesterday but even if you hadn't 5/600 calories of Happy meal or whatever the calories are is fine. If you go over one day just balance it out the next few, an extra long walk one day will sort it.

Nose to the grind stone here, really want to knock off another couple of pounds before op.

Hi all, just checking in, how are we all doing? Sobering news about the 'Fat but Fit' myth being busted in the news today - even more incentive to keep going. I will not be a statistic! I am on my way and I will reach a healthy BMI Smile

Hadn't heard about that Notractors so just went online and had a look. Interesting reading and it makes me too, more determined to reach a healthy weigh. I am all to aware that being so overweight will affect my health and feel very lucky it hasn't so far.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 17/05/2017 15:10

That was my feeling too Breaking - I've been lucky so far. This has just hammered home that my current weight (not forgetting the two stone or so I've lost already) is not sustainable for the future. The BBC link is here, if anyone hasn't seen it: www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-39936138
On a more personal note, I am really going to kick things up a notch and stop being ok when I stay the same. More progress is needed - it's Onwards and Downwards! Smile

I woke up to that article and felt the same. I do have high blood pressure and had a previous scare with my blood sugar so it clearly has affected me plus typical profile of someone with gallstones is female, fat, forty and fertile so that's obviously due to my weight. But I have got to the stage now where I just don't want to be fat anymore, I'm done with it, I want to be fit and healthy and hope I can reverse some of the damage.

Kicking things up a notch sounds like a plan. I think it's easy to put too much pressure on ourselves though which I feel can be more likely give up. I think though we've all realised failure isn't an option if we want our health. I'm trying to think of it as controlling my weight ie. a part of 'normal life' that is ongoing and just something I do now and will continue to do for the rest of my life.

I'm going all out until next week as never want to look back and say I should have tried harder before op if my recovery is slow or the keyhole surgery does have to convert to open. I am still dabbling with C25K and did the first session of week 2. Not sure it is good for my joints but from nowhere I have this desire to be able to run 5k. Am definitely joining a pool after surgery.

Evening all, sorry I have been pretty absent from the thread but family and work issues have got in the way.

Couple of things:
Anyone got the flex fitbit and finding that the battery is dying and/or its not recharging as it should?

For anyone who remembers from the last thread - lumpy ribs! Yes, they are lumps of fat. DH is all relieved, bless him.

I am working away at the gym but I have this sneaky suspicion that I am fatter than the last time I was this weight - larger I guess. Depressing.

Now, here is the TMI bit of the post - how to phrase this? Would you ladies notice that you have a chubby pubic area? If so, and you have lost some weight, does it look different? Hard to explain I know....

MirabelleTree · 18/05/2017 07:05

I have the flex 2 and yes I have problems charging it. What I do now each time is plug it in, unplug the plug, disconnect leaped from plug, reassemble, plug back in then press the reset button on bottom of charging cradle 3 times in 5 seconds. It then charges. Good news on the lumpy ribs. Can't help you on your other question I'm afraid as I haven't been taking any notice !

MirabelleTree · 18/05/2017 07:51

Ok I can give you a more objective answer to your last question as enlisted DH's opinion,it's the same Grin

ZestyDragon · 18/05/2017 08:35

Thanks for your advice on the flex. I have done that and it seems to be working.

And thanks for getting an objective opinion 😂 The area actually seems plumper but I wonder if it's because my belly isn't as low as it was. To be honest it's something I had never really looked at!!

Callmesausage · 18/05/2017 10:53

Hello everyone, still plodding on here. Had weigh in this morning and am at 252, so I've either lost a stone or 1st 3 lbs depending on where I count as the start line. I'm going for 1st 3lbs because it makes me feel better 😀 (and that was my heaviest).

ZestyDragon · 18/05/2017 18:57

Well done sausage, that's a great start! Its amazing what a boost to the confidence a good loss gives you :)

MirabelleTree · 19/05/2017 07:05

Well done sausage, doing really well!

1.75lb loss (week 27) gives total loss of 56.5 lbs , 43.5lbs to go.

10 inches off waist, 6 inches off bust, 8.5 inches off hips, 1.7 inches off calf, 4.2 inches off thighs and 1.7 inches from arms to date. Lovely comments yesterday from people which was very encouraging and agreed with friend to run the race for life next summer.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 19/05/2017 10:05

Woweee Mirabelle those are some staggering numbers! Well done! Grin

Sausage well done too and keep plodding the good plod!

Fantastic Mirabelle

ZestyDragon · 19/05/2017 16:50

Well done Mirabelle! Thats amazing and you as so near your goal when you think about it. My next aim is to get over half way....

Current: 230lbs
Loss this week: 3lbs
Loss: 57lbs
To go: 70lbs
Goal: 160lbs

I don't know how i did 3lbs. I was on a walking stick again last week because of a dodgy knee from weightlifting so I was just back walking again this week.

irishe · 19/05/2017 17:49

Hey zesty, sausage and mirabelle

Well done on the weight losses this week!

I feel like my head is in the right place, and that is really helping me make better choices.

I have kept to my calorie target all week, so hoping for a loss tomorrow when I weigh in.

Love seeing the posts with all the losses, that WILL be me.

Will be back tomorrow

BreakingSad · 20/05/2017 07:58

Wow great losses everyone.

I'm 1lb down this week, which I'll happily take with all my gains and STS. I also had to add another hole to my belt, which is a great indicator that I'm going in the right direction.

To lose 113
Lost to date 40
Left to lose 73
Lost this week 1

I'm off out for a walk, such a beautiful day here, have a lovely weekend everyone.

irishe · 20/05/2017 09:18

Morning all. Weighed in this morning.

Start 277lbs
Loss this week 3lbs (week3)
Current 266
Total loss 11lbs

Delighted with how first 3 weeks have gone. I know however the difficult times really come around the 3 month stage for me. I find it so hard to sustain over long term. Hoping this thread will help keep me going!

irishe · 20/05/2017 09:20

Oh well done breaking on your loss. 40lbs off is fantastic achievement.
