Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Thank you. BreakingSad. Well done on STS, it is comforting knowing it works isn't it ?!

Welcome Coulditbe and very sorry to hear about your Dad Flowers We're approaching the first anniversary of my Mum's death and it is now much easier to focus on my own health. It took a bit of time and I think kit is very important to be kind to yourself , don't pile too much pressure on and take it in small steps. Walking is brilliant and made lots of difference to me.

Preop for me tomorrow. Guess it's the moment of truth about my height and weight!

Thank you so much for welcoming me, it is much appreciated, - I will weigh in on Tuesday and give you my stats as I've already eaten today and tomorrow I'm out to a friend's birthday lunch, from Tuesday onwards I have nothing really stopping me from putting my money where my mouth is so to speak, only my will power but this is where your support comes in, thank you all once again

Reastie · 07/05/2017 15:36

Hi all,

Not looking to join but spotted your thread and just wanted to come on to give you all some positivity that you CAN do this. This is a marathon not a sprint and perseverance and getting back on the wagon every time you fall off will mean you'll reach your goal. In the past six years I've lost about 110lbs and have kept this amount off for over two of the six years. It's hard work, every day I make choices but so far I've kept it off and try to make good choices.

I know how it feels like you'll never get there when there seems so much, just take it pound by pound, half stone by half stone, stone by stone.

I don't want to come on here and be all 'look at me, aren't I great' as I'm really not like that. Every day I worry I'll put it back on (that's probably just me though!) and I hate writing things like this for fear of tempting fate, but you all seem so lovely that I though ythat u might feel a bit of extra motivation.

irishe · 07/05/2017 18:50

Hi coulditbe welcome!

I have just joined this week, got at least 6.5 stone to lose.
Sorry to hear about your dad, I put on a lot of weight when my mum died. I knew I was comfort eating but couldn't stop. It's a very difficult time emotionally.

And good luck mirabelle with your pre op.

BreakingSad · 07/05/2017 20:14

Thanks Rustie for sharing your story, as I have a similar amount it's lovely to hear a success story. You're so right that perseverance is key.

BreakingSad · 07/05/2017 20:15

Sorry Reastie, must wear my glasses more

MirabelleTree · 07/05/2017 20:19

Thank you Reastie, that really helps to hear, very grateful you posted it.

Cultofpersonality · 07/05/2017 21:03

Honestly forgot how nice it is sometimes to walk to work!

Walked in tonight.
Have a packed lunch, and also no money on me to spend at the vending machines or on the bus home from work in the morning.
Hoping for nice weather all week so I don't have to add a brolly to my already full to the brim bag...

What's everyone's thoughts on fitbits?
Usually just track everything on my iPhone but wondering if I should join the Fitbit club!

Reastie · 08/05/2017 06:31

No probs :)

MirabelleTree · 08/05/2017 06:32

That's great Cult. Good time of year to start doing it, hopefully by the time winter comes it will be habit. I'm a huge fan of my Fitbit and find that if I use it plus calorie logging together over time I lose pretty much bang on whatever the amount of weight I am trying to lose that week. It sometimes takes an extra week to show but averaged out it is very accurate.

iloveredwine · 08/05/2017 07:48

5lbs down this week!
start weight 233
current weight 221

Callmesausage · 08/05/2017 10:07

Morning all and welcome to the newbies also well done to everyone with their losses, you're really doing well.

Only weigh in every other Thursday as that's when I see the practice nurse. Being good and trying to do 10000 steps a day.

I'm new. I need to lose 7 stone and I'm thinking that because I can't afford to eat at the moment, buying the 2 boxes for £6 meal replacement shakes from Tesco (20 meals) might be a good start!

MirabelleTree · 09/05/2017 06:27

Well done Iloveredwine that first stone very in sight now.

IntheBenefitTrap welcome. I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. Personally I'm not very pro very low calorie diets but in situations Ike this it might be an idea. I think if there's any way you could do 2 shakes a day then one meal that might be better but understand that might not be possible. I'm furious that you can be in this position, so sorry Flowers

JustWater · 09/05/2017 10:22

Morning ladies, I would like to join you if that's ok.

I've wanted to lose weight for quiet a while but something finally snapped in me over the weekend and I've decided enough is enough it's time to get my arse in gear and lose weight! I want to lose 6 stone. I started my diet & exercising yesterday.

MirabelleTree · 09/05/2017 10:59

Hello and welcome Justwater . It is about being in the right place in your head, well done on day 1 being fine and dusted.

Came back a bit deflated after preassessment yesterday as she calculated my BMI as bang on 35 with one of those wheel things. Text a friend who is a nurse with my figures and she stuck it in her calculator and got 34.4. So rang this morning and my records updated as having met my target which made me feel happy. Anyone comes at you with a wheel tell them you want it worked out on the computer !

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 09/05/2017 19:21

That wheel needs reinvented! Grin Glad technology won through for you Mirabelle Wink
How is everyone else getting on? I'm having a super busy week at work, so I'm having a face mask and a bath tonight, and going to bed early with my book! Still firmly on the wagon, despite the call of the Doritos when I popped to the shops earlier - orange crisps shall not defeat me!

OP posts:
BreakingSad · 10/05/2017 18:15

Good job on resisting the Doritos Notractors, for me it's sour cream pretzels that's my Dd bought home yesterdayGrin

I'm having a good week so far, cold has nearly gone (but AF arrived), staying within my calories and back on my exercise bike. Tomorrow I get to pick up my new bike, so get to go out on the road Shock. It will be interesting to see the difference on the Fitbit, for calories burned on the exercise bike vs road bike.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 10/05/2017 18:16

Hope you're all out enjoying the sunshine and weren't scared off by my wittering!

All good so far this week - and have discovered the local grocer has the best tasting lettuce. It has a proper 'home-grown' taste. DH doesn't know what I mean, but I do, and it makes me happy Grin It's going in my lunch tomorrow, yum.
