You'll get there jonty - you are always very determined when you set yourself a goal, from what I remember. Me, on the other hand, have equally great intentions, but far less will-power. But the good news is that I'm back down to 11 8, so my 4lb gain over the weekend is now gone. Phew. Now need to buckle-down to loose the 8lbs.

Just chopped the most enormous pile of courgettes, mixed peppers & red onions to shove in the oven to bulk-out my lunch & dinners over the next few days. Roast veg salad today, roast veg omelette tomorrow, & I may turn a portion into veg bolognaise sauce to make a lighter lasagne for me for the weekend. I've offered to drop my DD's friends home Sat night after, so that will stop me drinking wine too.

Not2bObvious · 11/05/2017 13:52

Great to have a goal in sight jonty, you can certainly make a decent dint in it by your birthday with that attitude, if not the whole stone!
I think prepping is a huge part of the battle bath, if you can remove the guesswork you remove opportunities for weak moments. I've been batch cooking things like bean burgers/turkey burgers/chicken burgers and having one with a slice of whole meal toast and 100gr of beans for lunch. Keeps me full, gets fibre, protein in and enough carbs to keep me going. I need to continue this trend into the weekend. Going to jog to the gym & back so that'll add to my steps and calorie burn...boom, on fire 😉

JontyDoggle37 · 12/05/2017 05:25

Bath and Not you're both definitely on fire, and prep is totally the way to win at this. I made double portions of last nights vegetable/tomato sauce that we had with pasta so my lunch is already sorted for today.
In very good news, I'm 3lbs lighter than yesterday - 10.10.5! I drank loads of water yesterday and will do again today, see if I can flush a bit more out. I didn't come in quite as low calorie-wise as I originally aimed to yesterday as my darling husband gave me. Nasty cold while on holiday, and by bedtime last night I really felt rubbish so just had a little slice of toast and lemon curd, but it's still a lot lower than I was eating on holiday, so I'm happy with that. Feel rough as a badger this morning, working at home today thankfully so have just made myself a coffee, taken some paracetamol and now I'm cuddled up on the sofa with a good book until the paracetamol kick in. Have a lovely Friday everyone!

Not2bObvious · 12/05/2017 06:53

That is brilliant jonty, sorry you got a cold - I always pick up sniffles from the plane. Keep the fluids up, that'll help on lots of levels. I'm in awe, I've never come home from hols lighter than when I left. Not such a mystery really though! I think I'll have to work on a plan for the next holiday...which is 8 weeks from today!!! I cannot wait.
Tales from the scales, 11.9.8, my lowest weight since I returned from holidays. 5lb in around 1 month. I'm v pleased with that - I
am determined pride is NOT going before a fall so this weekend no crazy eating😡

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 12/05/2017 07:43

Not that's a fabulous scales tale!😁 I definitely need a weekend plan, have got DS's 2nd birthday party on Sunday, although I'm doing all the food so I can make sure there are lots of nice salads etc. Will eat very light earlier in the day that day too..

Not2bObvious · 12/05/2017 07:51

And another good strategy when entertaining is to be the best hostess, set aside a small plate of what you'll eat and then chat/mingle/top up drinks. Basically float about looking ethereal and willowy...😉
Just back from a 30 minute run, got drowned but it's a few thousand steps in the bank

Well done not & jonty on the losses - great stuff. I'm about to head out for a run myself. Feeling tight-chested too nothing to do with my sports bra that's too tight! will see how far I can go.

Bathsheba3 · 12/05/2017 11:34

5.5 miles run. Hair washed & dried. Just had roast veg omelette with 2 eggs which was late breakfast / early lunch.

Am dreading this evening already, & wonder what diversionary tactics I can employ to keep me out of the kitchen cupboards & fridge. DH away which somehow makes it worse.

Not2bObvious · 12/05/2017 12:13

Take a look at this about emotional eating bath, that includes boredom etc.

Clicked too quick. Super well done on the long run bath. How about putting together something really nice for supper, put it all in mfp and if you have room have a glass of vino. Allow yourself a couple of hundred extra calories if required, and have an early'ish night?

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 12/05/2017 15:27

Thanks not. Nice to have someone think of me. Really! you are so kind. Absolutely yes to early night. And a bed to myself all weekend! Snore free too. Oooh, will change bed linen later too

Not2bObvious · 13/05/2017 07:26

I love clean bed linen, hope you had a lovely evening. Slightly indulgent one for me but within the realms of what I had burned so I'm ok with that - scales has flux'ed by .8 but I know it's bloat from salty crisps. Still and all, a much better behaved Friday night than previous ones. Have a class at 9 and I'm lying here knackered but I will go (even if it kills me and it will😉)

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 13/05/2017 07:58

Bath well done on the run! Hope your plans for last night worked. I'm down another pound today to 10.9.5, so completely back o pre-hols weight which is lovely. Yesterday was a total write-off, I felt so unwell I just ate what I felt I needed. Back on track today as feeling a bit better.

Bathsheba3 · 13/05/2017 08:38

sadly last night plans got derailed by v upsetting news Sad. Had to keep v calm & deal with. But deal with well I did, esp with DH away. Prob should have taken to a bath or bed & sob, but instead numbed / blocked-it out via whole big bar, yes the massive one dairy milk & wine. Need to paste happy & calm face on all weekend too.

Glad you are feeling a bit better Jonty. I have a cold too, but not too bad. You are amazing Not for your get-up-and-go-to-the-gym, & you Jonty for your positive attitude. Really admire you both

Not2bObvious · 13/05/2017 10:55

Aww, I'm sorry you had bad news bath, sometimes you just have to deal with the emotions whatever way gets you through. Put it behind you and no beating yourself up, no doubt you've enough on your plate.
That's great that you're back to pre-hols weight in a couple of days jonty, again put yesterday's derail to the side, one day doesn't need to become 2.
Well my class was unfreaking real and I am battered! I sure hope the sweating was my fat crying, or more like sobbing hysterically😉
Chin up all, we're doing great, we're alive and healthy - let's not ruin all out work with weekend boldness

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 14/05/2017 08:33

Morning all, lovely sunny morning here. Lying in bed contemplating a jog, I have somewhere I need to go to order something and it's the ideal distance away for a challenge. Only problem is it's not open until 10, I reckon it'll take me 45 minutes to run there so I have an hour before I should leave. Worried the mood will have gone off me by then. Daily weigh in is showing a 2lb flux from Friday but a bit bunged up so it is what it is. Down 2lb from last Sunday's frightening WI so that's progress of sorts. I'm sincerely hoping I start to turn a corner with this weight loss soon. I've had a decent week of being in the zone and I'm feeling positive for next week, it should start to pay off. It appears my weekend menu is too salty and not fibrous enough. I wish I could treat Friday to Sunday like Monday to Wednesday😩
How's everyone else doing? You all set for the party jonty, hope your lo has a brilliant day and that you're feeling better. bath, you ok?

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 15/05/2017 07:44

Another week begins, another Monday morning flux. It's just numbers, as we know but grrr 😡 Anyway the trend for me seems to be around 1.2lb a week, if it stayed like that it'd be great.
So, how was everyone's weekend? Everyone ready for a good week?

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 15/05/2017 08:45

Not thanks for the party good wishes, it was fab, and I reckon I walked about five miles doing the food and drink so hopefully not too much damage! Haven't weighed today as so exhausted and also DH had epilepsy problems overnight, so been sorting out him and working at home today. Hope you did your planned long run to the shop!

Not2bObvious · 15/05/2017 09:46

Oh dear, hope your dh is ok jonty? Great that the party went well, would the hectic'ness have been a contributing factor to this episode? The scales can wait, you've enough on your plate.
Yes I did the long jog/walk (was v tired so there was a bit of walking) - 7 miles in total, that was 7 days with my exercise goal met, aiming to get 21 in a row, 33% there😉

OP posts:
Dearohdeer · 15/05/2017 15:41

Can I join? I'm only two days in using MFP but I'm starving.

I had some fruit and fibre with semi skimmed milk for breakfast. A quarter of a cheese sandwich (pinched from DS) and a poached egg on one slice of toast for lunch.

Dinner is a veg heavy spag-Bol and I won't have any pasta with it. I've also had two cups of tea.

I'm really hungry in between meals and my calories for today will be 1,315 Sad I'm supposed to be aiming for 1,200.

What can I change to make it a bit easier?

Not2bObvious · 15/05/2017 15:56

You're v welcome dear, why don't you explain a bit more, how long much do you want to lose, have you a timeframe? I don't want to be nosey but it would help to know some more background. If you don't want to share, no worries. Couple of things 1200 is v hard to stick to consistently. 1400-1500 is much more doable, still low enough to lose on. Drink plenty of water as well.

OP posts:
Dearohdeer · 15/05/2017 16:09

Thank you Not2B, I would like to lose about a stone. I don't keep scales in the house so I'm measuring with inches/how my clothes fit more than anything. I would estimate that I'm about 11.5 stone. I'm going on holiday in seven weeks and I'd love to have lost half a stone by then.

It's encouraging that I'll still lose weight if I have a bit higher calorie intake. I think that might be the way forward for me. Are there any low calorie foods that you fill up on? Even an apple is 80 calories Confused

Not2bObvious · 15/05/2017 16:18

Here's what I am eating/ate today for around 1400:
30g porridge made with skimmed milk (100ml) and some water with half banana
Poached egg, slice wholemeal toast, 7g butter
Chicken burger (Lidl, no bun), 60g beans, slice whole meal toast
2 slices thin turkey with slice of light easy single on slice wholemeal bread
Turkey chilli, 80g of cooked rice, 20g grated cheese
Orange, 50g frozen raspberries
I think you'll agree that's a decent amount of chow😉

OP posts:
Dearohdeer · 15/05/2017 16:21

I wonder if I'm overestimating things. I had a thin amount of butter on my toast and marked that as 20g. I really need to measure stuff properly.

Your days food sounds great!

Not2bObvious · 15/05/2017 16:28

You absolutely need to weigh your food even if you don't want to weigh yourself. Most people underestimate but overestimating is just as bad as you're starving and you flip/binge. Gotta get changed now, off to the gym (that's the other thing, get a bit of exercise in wherever you can, a walk would do)
