Wow Sesame - we started off the same, at the same time Blush. Serious Star to you.

Not religious here either - but I need every ounce of help. But you know me, all-or-nothing. If I took some time out along the lines of Eat Pray Love, or Love, Pray, Eat, whichever way round it goes, & go and find myself in a beautiful place I would probably stop the cycle. But sadly, life is too busy with too many responsibilities, so just need to dream on!

Feel more in control today, but could be just due to having quite a surprisingly productive-day work-wise.

B = Apple
L = Thai Carrot soup (shop-bout, tut tut)
D = Homemade beef casserole thanks to freezer, broccoli (half a crown!) & sm jacket potato
S = 1 glass of wine.

Sorry, no shout-outs, but loving everyone's updates. Have the full weekly shop to put away in the 10 mins before Broadchurch starts. I am SO HAPPY it's back !

Needastrongone · 27/02/2017 20:55

Ha, I doubt it's old age Daw. Great and sensible weekly average there.

Done my 6 miles and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tomorrow is Boot Camp and another 6 miles with my friend. Base building miles. Training the body to burn fat as it's primary energy source rather than glycogen. So easy paced.

Jamie Oliver lentil and veggie bolognase was fab. Lots of fresh herbs in and red wine but, for a veggie dish to go down this well by everyone in our house is unusual. Only 450 calories for a huge plate full. Wholemeal pasta. I've decided I need carbs. Low carb doesn't work for me.

Lolimax · 27/02/2017 21:40

Evening all. On my phone and this thread has moved so quickly I can't name everyone sorry. But I've read all the updates. I'm back to firing on all cylinders. Thank goodness!
Last Latino Fit class tonight, it's being replaced by 'strong by Zumba'. I'll give it a go, it's still exercise! Weight wise I'm maintaining at 11.8/11.9. I have been increasing the calories but I've also been doing more weights. I think I'm looking more toned. I haven't got a body of a 24 year old but there again I didn't have one when I was 24.
I caught that programme about people who had lost then gained weight on catch up. Quite, quite depressing. I guess I'll be low carbing, low cal-ing and exercising for ever if I'm to keep this weight off then?

SesameSparkle · 27/02/2017 23:08

need I've been hanging out in S&B quite a bit since losing weight. As my shape has changed quite a lot, my style has also had to adapt. It's a bit of a learning curve tbh, and sometimes I feel I make conflicting choices day to day. Lentil bolognaise sounds fab. I've used something like that as the base for a low fat moussaka type dish - veg/lentil/tomato sauce, with a layer of oven baked aubergine slices on top, followed by a tub of cottage cheese (instead of bechamel), then into the oven with some small handfuls of reduced fat grated mature cheese on top. Will go look for the JO recipe for some more inspiration.

dawhead you must be nearly at target now, no? How much longer do you think you'll need?

bath thanks. Glad you are feeling in control again, it's nice when everything comes together. Smile

loli glad you're feeling much better now. My body is also definitely much improved on my 24yo self just a shame it's a droopier version Wink

After spending most of the evening googling 'healthy' pancake versions, I've finally settled on a traditional French crepe recipe. Hmm There's a tablespoon of oil in the batter, before even hitting the frying pan, oops.... Batter is now overnighting in the fridge - it would be so tempting to have for breakfast tomorrow, but I will try to be good and wait till nighttime. The jug full works out as 450cals, fingers crossed I can make 8 pancakes out of that. Now to decide on fillings....

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2017 07:30

Aww shoot sesame, I didn't think my recipe would be any good but it's got no oil, too late now. Crepe style too, cup of plain floor, 1 large egg, around 200ml of semi skimmed milk. It's the floor with most of the cals in this case, 100gr is around 360 cals I think?

MumBod · 28/02/2017 07:37

Some great updates here. I love reading everyone's recipes. I see Jamie Oliver featuring a lot - which book are you all using?

Dawn I was staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. Proper Southern cooking, and lots of it...

Still, I think the huge gain might have been largely bloat as some of you suggested, as 4lbs has come off already. It's actually nice to be back on plan and in control again.

Needastrongone · 28/02/2017 08:46

Sesame Using the lentil sauce for a lasagne or moussaka is brill idea. Funny how we never think of the obvious ourselves isn't it?

Mum So, 3lb gain (if that is actually gain) is nothing for Orlando. All that walking round the themes parks maybe!

Loli I certainly don't low carb. I do listen to my own appetite and eat if hungry but stop when full and don't feel the need to snack for boredom or any other reason.I will always exercise tbf. Don't worry, you will find an equilibrium. Healthy eating for life not for weight etc.[smile[

I use Jamie Oliver family favourite a lot, plus his website. It works for me and my family but I like cooking too. Happy if it doesn't work for others.

SesameSparkle · 28/02/2017 08:55

Thanks not, I don't think my recipe is that bad after all - it called for 1tbs oil 3tbs flour and 300ml milk. I weighed the flour going in and it was only 40g - so what I've gained in oil calories I've lost in flour, if you see what I mean. Smile

SesameSparkle · 28/02/2017 08:58

Well done mumbod, so glad you feel back on plan.

Needastrongone · 28/02/2017 09:02

It's just one meal too Sesame, enjoy!

We are not doing pancakes this year, there's only DD that eats them these days, so I will make her some at the weekend.

Bathsheba3 · 28/02/2017 09:11

Pancakes done & dusted in this house, thankfully. I can cook a full roast + trimmings for a crowd, but utterly useless at the basics. DD was v polite, and DS said he felt sick (my pancakes or too much nutella?). I had the last, with just lemon juice, no sugar for my breakfast. Just munching on an apple now to counteract the stodge.

I did v well food-wise yesterday, and hope to do same again today. Did wake up with mind churning from 4.50 am though. Grrrr.

Have a good day everyone!

smd5018 · 28/02/2017 11:59

Well obviously I spoke too soon...Had a couple of rubbish days, come down with a horrid cold, coupled with a few nights of insomnia - both things that make me ravenous, so have overeaten quite a bit the last couple of days. When I'm tired or poorly I tend to crave stodgy carbs, sugar etc. I think once I start eating crap like that it becomes a vicious circle and increases my appetite whilst also decreasing my energy levels and making me feel even more rubbish.
I'm not going to freak out about it though, I guess it's bound to happen sometimes (please tell me you all lapse sometimes) I'm just going to stop it in it's tracks and eat well today (although of course will indulge in a pancake or two later)
Dawhead I've started at just over 11.5 stone, hoping to lose 2lb a week, I definitely want to get under 10 stone, probably 9 would be ideal. Have not been weighing myself that much as I keep forgetting but I have lost a few pounds since I started (not as many as I'd hoped, but I have recently been 'power walking' quite a lot and my legs are quite achy so I really really hope maybe I'm building muscle)
Going out for a big walk now, try and clear this snot out!!

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 28/02/2017 18:19

Bath you're really back on track - and you touched on something so familiar. It can be all about control - I know I'm definitely in a better place with food if I feel life in general is in control elsewhere. I bet your pancakes this morning were lovely Smile. Also, no spoilers about Broadchurch please Wink - we are recording it but not seen yet.

Need I haven't had much luck with cookbooks lately, but if I do buy another one it's definitely going to be JO. All your dishes really sound so tasty. Glad you're enjoying the 'easy' runs at the mo.

Loli swit swoo on looking more toned. It's great you're enjoying the classes and they seem to be working for maintenance. What sort of cals are you able to have these days?

Sesame I ~am~ nearly there, but I'm not sure where there is Grin. I think I will end up copying you and stopping at around 9st 8ish. I would like to stay closer to 9 1/2 rather than 10 IYKWIM. Then phase 2 will hopefully be getting a PT and getting rid of some of the body fat. I'd love to be joining you at maintenance by the end of March but some work stuff is going on that might scupper that. Your pancake mix sounds lovely - hope you enjoy.

Not hope you're well today - do you have any classes in the schedule?

MumBod oh that hotel sounds lovely - at least based on the food. And woohoo for losing the bloat Star 3lbs is fantastic for a holiday and it will be gone before you know it. Have you started back logging in MFP etc?

Smd you poor thing Brew for the horrible cold and no sleep. For sure, we all lapse - well I do anyway, mostly every weekend Wink. You are taking the perfect approach - one day at a time. So, depending on how strict you want to be, you could be at target by the middle of May!

Indulged a little bit last night, had a proper choccie and some Options hot chocolate so finished on 1345. I have no idea how many calories I'm going to eat today. We're having pancakes for dinner - although I got a Hmm from H when I suggested it. A jar of chocolate spread might also have snuck into the shopping trolley, but I'm going to try to weigh and plan before I slap it on. Also, you would all be so ashamed, but we just go for a ready mix batter here Blush.

Before today weekly average is 1410 which isn't brilliant. But I've definitely been feeling 'lighter' and hungry sometimes, so I hope I'm going to get good news with WI tomorrow morning.

Don't think we've had a motto today - hope it's ok if I can offer my mantra Willpower is like a muscle; the more you use it the stronger it gets.

Needastrongone · 28/02/2017 18:24

Smd Think this happens to most on here. Don't worry, just get back on track, get well and keep going. This thread is great for support and encouragement so keep posting.

Ended up running 7 miles. Will be doing Boot Camp in an hour, and walked the dogs for 4 miles. So have tons of calories to mess with today!

B - Avo on toast with tomato and almond butter.
L - chicken breast in a bagel and salad, yogurt.
D - homemade chilli, sweet potato wedges.
S - graze box pre Boot Camp. Naked bar pre run.
S - Wine.

MumBod · 28/02/2017 20:39

Dawhead yup, I'm back logging. Had a perfect day yesterday, and was doing fine today until 30 minutes ago when I heard that my youngest DC is stuck on a train in Peterborough and has no idea when he'll be home.

So I've eaten TWELVE biscuits because of my stupid anxiety.

Dammit.

Yes, SMD - I fall off the wagon. Lots.

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2017 20:57

Great motto dawg and very true. Are you trying to keep to 1200 these days? Am at risk of sounding like a broken record but that's a divil to stick to on & on. You're really so close to goal, wouldn't it be better to slow it a bit and "ease" into minor maintenance mode. Would help with getting ready for major maintenance, maybe 1400-1600 most days? Thanks for asking about the fitness, I didn't get to class last night but dragged myself kicking & screaming to afternoon class today. It felt tough after a week away (and gym owner welcomed me back...scarlet but nice that he missed me!) But it was great, felt v pleased with myself after, apart from being a sweaty lump! Bought a new pair of size 10 trousers on Sunday and they fit alright so not that much actual damage done. V guilty of catastrophic thinking. Mum that's great about the bulk of the bloat dissipating, hope your son is ok & your stress levels are dropping?
On my last pigout of choc/crisps, so I've high hopes of getting on much better over the next 6-7 weeks - lent is closer to 7 weeks, too sad. Apologies I haven't done a proper shout out to all, had a glass of wine so just a bit fuzzy lol

mumCakeBrewWineFlowersGin

Boot Camp was tough but brill. I never see exercise as hard or a negative thing which helps. DD loved it too and is making some brill healthy choices.

Push ups balancing on 2 tyres anyone? GrinGrin

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2017 21:42

Eh no thanks on those push-ups, you can have them all need

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 28/02/2017 21:44

Good for the arms not, have I tempted you at all?GrinGrinGrin

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2017 21:44

Unequivocal no

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 28/02/2017 21:47

Although I can say I've done push ups off dumbbells - vertical not horizontal - that was interesting but not impossible.

OP posts:
Lolimax · 28/02/2017 21:49

Evening all! Mum is your DS home now? Need I'll swap you push-ups for 50 burpees! Just been to a joint Pt session with DD and OMG! Good though.
Daw I'm eating between 1200 and 1500 calories a day so really still haven't increased much. I should I know but old fears die hard.
Not how's that wine?
SMD tomorrow is a whole new day and we've all been there.
Bath your pancakes made me laugh!
Sesame dressing a new shape is so strange isn't it?
Well a shit day in work. More to come. But hey ho. Exercise certainly helps with the tension and I don't comfort eat now, haven't for nearly a year :)

JontyDoggle37 · 01/03/2017 06:33

Morning all. No time to do full catch-ups now sorry. Sales are still up 10st7.75, no surprise as DH derailed me Monday night with chocolate, and then my carefully planned meal plan also fell foul of DH who decided he didn't want to cook that last night and made pancakes for dinner instead. Having a talk with him this morning about not derailing me if he can help it. I'm making a chicken and leek thing tonight, pasta for him, courgette 'tagliatelle' for me, and I've planned all the rest of the day. I did really well yesterday at drinking more water so that's good. I can do this and I will shift this bloody weight.

MumBod · 01/03/2017 06:38

He got home eventually! Surprising how little it takes for me to fall face first into the carbs.

However, it's a new day today. I dropped my phone yesterday - today I'm going to pick it up, not stamp on it.

Not2bObvious · 01/03/2017 09:04

Oh that's good mum, I was a bit confused about your phone but I'm thinking you meant like getting a flat tyre and slashing the other 3? If food is your comfort drug, you'll always have to fight the tendency or at least control it. It's just a bump, today will be better.
Little achy this morning but nothing too bad. Have a long meeting starting soon so that'll keep my beak out of the trough. No weigh in until Friday, my wine went down lovely last night but I don't want to see a Wednesday gain after my huge gain after last weeks bingefest. Gorgeous here today although v cold. Have a great Ash Wednesday y'all
