Common Sense Eating

SouthernNorthernGirl · 11/02/2017 13:32

I wanted to start a thread about eating sensibly / healthily etc without any diet fads involved.
Would love a bit of support in this, and I'm sure there are others that feel the same.

I've got that at work too! People bring in chocolates some days and spend ages trying to convince me with it! And then do the whole laughing or poking fun at being on a diet thing. Annoying.

I'm still on BBG though it is slowly killing me, I did the leg/cardio day yesterday and my legs hurt so much today, I've no idea how anyone does this! :( it's only 3 times a week so it is manageable but I'm genuinely sore every day and hating it...

SouthernNorthernGirl · 16/03/2017 19:22

Yes, it really annoys me. My mum does it, and my MIL.

I'm not sure why - it's not as if it affects them, people like to feed you up, especially if they know you're on a health kick / diet. Confused

I've suffered this too Floss it's so irritating 😠. Also I get invited out for meals a lot more when I'm trying to cut down my food intake - it can't be coincidence 🤔

flossisboss · 16/03/2017 23:54

Oh heavens I'm selfishly glad sorry to hear so many others have this Sad

Sometimes it makes me want to take my top off and jiggle in their faces. Maybe then they'd get the message.

flossisboss · 16/03/2017 23:56

lucky are you sure you're not over doing it? Can't be right to be constantly sore. Flowers

goingonabearhunt1 · 17/03/2017 10:27

yy tattersail to the plates of biscuits/cake. My DP's DGM does this, like literally a mountain of different types of biscuits. I don't even like biscuits that much but they keep insisting. I never say to people I'm trying to be healthy/whatever because that just makes it happen more, it just seems to be a general thing people do. And my DF is always really insistant that we must stop for coffee and cake at every opportunity when out in London. He's a real sugar addict Grin

luckycatclover · 17/03/2017 22:42

floss you may be right!! I've been thinking that actually, I might have jumped in the deep end trying to do this when I've not exercised properly in years. I'm thinking of stopping tbh and going for something a bit easier. I didn't wanna give it up so soon but I'm not enjoying it :(

Hope everyone's doing well? xx

lucky - why don't you try something else that you might enjoy more? You've got to enjoy it to stand a chance of sticking with it long term. I think that's why I'm doing so much better than I have done before - I've discovered some exercise that I actually enjoy: running and going out on my bike.

In fact, I reached my goal of running for an hour non stop today and am really pleased with myself. I'm going to aim for 10k now, which I can't be that far off. I'm going to go out for a little drive in a bit and work out a 10k circular route.

I hope that everyone has had a good week. I've lost 3lbs this week and feel firmly back on track.

Oh, and I've found another really tasty soup: beetroot - the colour is amazing! I'm going to make it again this week and serve with a swirl of horseradish cream.

flossisboss · 18/03/2017 16:25

lucky I agree with the others - if you're not enjoying it you should change. Maybe once you've upped your overall fitness levels you could start it again.

tattersail hope you have a lovely time today!

knees well done on your achievements! 3lb is great.

We've got an elderly relative staying at the moment so I've been baking a cake every few days as they need a bit of tlc and feeding up. Nothing fancy, just a coffee or lemon or cinnamon sponge with water icing on top. An unexpected result is that I've given up chocolate! I have a piece of homemade cake in the evening now instead of my usual Wispa. My skin looks better and it seems a more wholesome treat. Plus I'd forgotten how much I love baking Smile

I am eating a lot of stirfries and I think I'm stirfried out!

flossisboss · 25/03/2017 13:10

More birthdays this weekend = more cake! Shock

kneesupfatty · 27/03/2017 21:02

I hope that you're all getting on okay?

I'm still plodding on - it does feel like a very long, slow slog, but I keep telling myself that slow is actually good and hopefully means that it's going to stay off for good! Because of that, I've actually started to give 5:2 a go - I'm very interested in the supposed health benefits and I hope that it might be a way of further improving my eating habits and then maintaining them for good! I can but hope!

goingonabearhunt1 · 28/03/2017 17:20

I need to curb my weekend binges I think; this last Sunday was particularly bad. Blush

flossisboss · 28/03/2017 21:25

Me too going. I've been so slack for the past couple of weeks and particularly weekends. Need to get back on track big time.

Let us know how you get on with 5:2 knees

goingonabearhunt1 · 29/03/2017 17:47

Sundays and Tuesdays are always my bad days Grin

flossisboss · 04/04/2017 09:40

How is everyone doing?

knees how are you finding 5:2?

I weighed myself today and am bang on the same weight I was a few weeks ago. I feel OK about it because I've not been tracking that much and have had a lot of treats. I really, really want to get back on it now and lose another stone.

kneesupfatty · 08/04/2017 11:51

floss I'm finding 5:2 quite easy to do actually - I'm starting to quite enjoy the fast days!

I also want desperately need to get back on it as have been in Germany this week and my son is still on holiday next week - I find that I'm okay as long as I'm in my own routine, but find it hard when there's a break from it for whatever reason...
