Hello all!
Can I join the movement?
I came on to mumsnet this morning wanting to start just this kind of thread, and then this here popped up!
You are all full of very sensible thoughts and good advice! I don't want to force myself to eat in a way that is restrictive or doesn't feel "intuitive" to me, if you know what I mean. It has to be sustainable as well as healthy and natural.
My "downfall" is definitely sugar. I tend to bring out the chocolate and cookies once the kids are in bed and the day is done. And then I just "treat" myself. This would be fine if it wasn't every bloody night!
The stuff I eat is not the worst, it's dark chocolate and homemade cookies - but really the sugar content of home made cookies is the same as any other, so I know I'm just kidding myself here!
I'm not going to stop baking but I would like to have some evenings where I find other ways to relax, which doesn't involve food. I eat a good dinner most days, so I shouldn't "need" it.
I also want to get more in touch with my body - someone mentioned this up thread, that exercising makes them feel more in touch with their body? Sorry, I don't remember who it was.
As a side effect, I'm hoping for some glowing skin!
I am not really overweight, just feeling quite unfit and a little untoned. And I'm going on holiday in four weeks' time, which is a good motivator to get healthier. If I lose a little weight I'd be thrilled, ideally around half a stone, although I don't want to work towards a "target" as such. I'm currently 9.9 stone (I think in kilos, but just converted this so hope it's right).
So, here'e the plan for me:
- Eat less sweet stuff in the evenings.
- Move more - maybe some stretching every now and then, and spend as much time as possible outdoors. Cycle to work whenever possible.
That's it really. Should hopefully do the trick and change my attitude to food.
Sorry, this was long!
So is Tuesday weigh-in day, for those who want to check their weight?
