Is there give in the floor? We have acres of bouncy laminate in our house. Those scales come with feet to use on carpet, but I wouldn't trust them I don't think.

I've only had one day of differing measurements with those scales, and now I have the positioning right I'm only weighing once each time. Whatever it says, that's what I record.

ArseyTussle · 25/01/2017 15:10

TV, can you look at a BMI calculator? That will give you an idea of healthy range for your height, and then you can aim for a target weight within that range, allowing for your frame size.

lastqueenofscotland · 25/01/2017 15:18

Really struggling for willpower today Angry

ponygirlcurtis · 25/01/2017 15:38

Soft, I have my scales on a piece of flat board so I know the results are consistent. And it means I can weigh on carpet.

Can you have something small to keep you going, last, or a cup of tea? Sometimes I find that just having a small thing stops my brain from obsessing over feeling hungry.

lastqueenofscotland · 25/01/2017 15:50

I might go and find someChewing gum or similar so at least I won't want anything else!

QuimReaper · 25/01/2017 18:09

SO

After shivering just looking out the window for several hours, I gritted my teeth, wrapped my Big Girl pants round my neck as a scarf and stomped out into the frost, went for a bit of a walk en route the pool, got to the changing room all proud of myself...

And realised I didn't have my swimming costume Hmm

I was SO ANNOYED with myself! Dished out self-flagellation in the form of a very long walk, clocking 13k steps.

Grrrrrrr!

QuimReaper · 25/01/2017 18:10

lastqueen I may have said this before but I really recommend miso soup for something to "do" when you're just wanting to eat. It\s like 20 calories and weirdly filling. Have a mug on the go now to warm my numb hands!

lastqueenofscotland · 25/01/2017 18:12

Quim I might give that a go.

Weird q but does it smell? Cause I'd have to have it at work and people will moan!

QuimReaper · 25/01/2017 18:13

Haha, no! It smells faintly yeasty I guess? Certainly doesn't smell any stronger than a cup of coffee.

QuimReaper · 25/01/2017 18:18

Welcome Softy! Smile I have given up on domestic scales myself until I have space in my bathroom to just put them down and leave them, rather than having to get them out and recalibrate them every time. For now I just use the BMI machines in Boots - 50p well spent to avoid the margin of doubt for me, I get all antsy when I think the scales might be lying.

TV 2lbs is still 2lbs, and that's less than 2 weeks isn't it? I think that's great!

Spurious mine doesn't even go on my tits, they get bigger but only in line with how big my belly's getting, and then when I lose weight they shrivel and look all empty Sad

ponygirlcurtis · 25/01/2017 18:46

Quim I slide my scales under my bed on the board, keeps them out of the way. and out of sight on bad days

What kind of miso soup do you get, is it just from the supermarket?

QuimReaper · 25/01/2017 18:53

That's a good idea pony, keeping them on a board presumably keeps them calibrated?

For my money the best Miso Soup in the world is the Saitaku one, I get it from Ocado (it's on offer right now!) - if you don't use them I expect you could get it from Waitrose?

KikisDeliveryService · 25/01/2017 19:14

Scales on a board tucked away is my method too. They never lie sadly.

I like a bit of marigold bouillon in a cup as a salty hot drink on fast days, because I'm more likely to have it in than instant miso.

Oh quim, all that effort and no cossie to change into. I feel your pain.

I'm in a bit of rut. I've literally only got rid of the christmas excess and nothing else. Just same pound on and off. I've already quit booze for February (started early) as it can only be a positive thing for my health and hopefully will result in a bit of loss.

We're all going out tonight but because I've only done 3500 steps they're going to drive and I'll walk. Yesterday, at 10pm I had achieved all green in my fitbit settings except for distance so I pranced around the living room for half a kilometer (apparently!) until I reached the required 8k I've set it at, it gave me my celebratory cheer and then I could go to bed.

I am under the control of a wrist robot, it is my master and overlord.

lastqueenofscotland · 25/01/2017 20:09

Quim thanks for that! I might have to get some...

I didn't have the best day but it wasn't awful, and a few hundred cals over on mfp isn't going to derail the operation as long as it's infrequent.

Really motivated to be really golden tomorrow Star

Pinkvici22 · 25/01/2017 20:13

I'm not having a great few days - I haven't been awful, but I've been picking at food and then not logging every mouthful on MFP.

I'm also 5'4. Ideal for me is around 9st 6. That's another 11lbs to go, and I'm definitely not feeling confident about a loss this week Sad

ponygirlcurtis · 25/01/2017 20:22

Kiki I have just been marching for 10mins, determined to reach my step target. I love the idea of it giving you a cheer!

It will make very little difference overall, you are right last. A bad day, or even few days Pink don't matter, draw a line.

Softpebbles · 25/01/2017 20:33

I aim for 10k steps but hard when have I work at a desk all day. Have bought an exercise bike and do 30 mins every work day when steps are harder to achieve!

I will seek a board to out the scales on. That's a good idea! I started at 11st 7 last weds. Due my period at the weekend so hoping for one of your wooshes next week Hmm

Luckily someone in my office has a family wedding soon so it's got rid of the cake culture - they've actually helped me to be more focused. Although I can't stomach their green tea.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/01/2017 21:14

Hello

My resolve and been and up and gone. Holiday tomorrow and life-is-too-short news have left me struggling to find a fuck to give Grin

Back on it next week but goodness it's hard to keep going isn't it?

OP posts:
lastqueenofscotland · 25/01/2017 22:09

Boop it is hard because it seems so trivial in the grander scheme of things but it's still ok to do stuff for you.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

KikisDeliveryService · 25/01/2017 22:19

Pony The app on my phone does a sort of fireworks, maybe a fanfare too- or maybe I just add that with my brain. I don't see it often enough to know...

boop it will make no difference in the long run. Take time out from the discipline. You'll be back on it. And you have already done incredibly well this month. Sorry you're ending the month with shitty news but hope the first holiday of 2017 treats you well!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 26/01/2017 07:02

I decided to weigh myself this morning after yesterday's fast day aaaaand I have apparently gained a pound. Great.

ponygirlcurtis · 26/01/2017 07:34

BOOP have a lovely holiday, if ever that were a time to give no fucks it's then so try to enjoy it despite your news. Flowers for you.

Spuriouser don't get too downhearted - I have come to the conclusion that it takes several days for either a good day or a bad day to have any effect. How many times has someone said they had a rubbish day then lost the next day? It will just be water fluctuations, promise. Keep at it. Wink

lastqueenofscotland · 26/01/2017 08:04

Amazingly despite nosediving off the wagon yesterday. I have stayed the same.

Plans for a golden day today.

HairsprayBabe · 26/01/2017 08:14

Good morning all BOOP Hope you are doing ok Flowers

Very exciting news from the scales here 11.12!!!!!!!!! OMG I could have squealed with joy this morning! That is -9 Lindas for the month so far now and only 9 Lindas to go till my BMI is healthy!!!

I am going away for another friends birthday at the weekend, so I will have to keep my resolve steely!

TVHubbyClaire · 26/01/2017 08:26

BOOP - hope you have a lovely holiday

arsey I googled the ideal weight for my height and was shocked to find that I carrying an extra 20-25 Lindas.......

I was weighing roughly 13st 4 three weeks ago and my recommended is nearer to 12st or just belowSad

My target was just my guess at what would be reasonable, it looks like I will be around for a while. Not sure I will ever lose a stone though. On the positive side its fab being part of a group with similar targets and challenges Smile
