I'm in the early stages of pregnancy so don't expect dramatic weight loss over the next 8 months. But I am in the middle of trying to lose over 100lbs plus, so hope I can sneak in here and support you all whilst reminding myself to maintain my healthier eating habits and stay active through pregnancy.
Last summer I started walking more, and in the autumn I did couch to 5k - a beginner's running program that starts with run/walk intervals. In 2017 I had planned to do a 10k in the spring, a novice triathlon in the early summer, and a half marathon (which I had rather over-ambitiously signed up to in the weeks before I got pregnant!). All with the intention of getting fit enough to concieve!
So instead my aim is to stick with what would have been my triathlon plan - swim x2, bike x 2, run/walk x 2 a week, keeping the intensity low to maintain and increase fitness without putting me/baby under stress, dropping the run/walk intervals down to walking as needed.
Total to lose (highest was last year): 163lbs
Lost so far: 58lbs (was 67lbs before xmas!)
Still to go: 105lbs
Obviously, I might not manage it all this year, but I'm going to try and eat sensibly duing pregnancy and stay active - last time, although I put weight on from about halfway, I had a net loss after baby was born - to minimise excess gain, and then gradually get back into exercise towards the end of the year.
Hope it's okay to cheer you all on. I don't want to let the healthy changes I've made slip.
