Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Well done Lumberries, it's always nice when you achieve something you thought you wouldn't.

I am feeling much more positive about this today. My online shop is coming tomorrow evening, I am determined to have a good week.

eatingtomuch · 03/01/2017 22:06

Well done lumberries. It's so hard staying on track. I'm keeping myself busy until I return to work.
It'll be worth it when you look back in wedding pictures.

SixtyDegreesNorth · 03/01/2017 22:07

Lumberries that made me SmileSmileSmile

It is a lot easier to lose weight in your 20s. And a lot easier to lose when you do not have ankle biters too Grin

Make the best of your free time to exercise. I work with a lady your age and she goes to the gym every night after work. I am so envious of her freedom to do that.

I became quite unhealthy with my weight loss though and developed an eating disorder. I think that may be why I have been so fearful of losing weight again - in case I do it too well.

I was single and happy to be so when I lost weight initially. I did it for me. Even though you have a wedding to look forward to, make sure you are doing it for you.

I'm in the early stages of pregnancy so don't expect dramatic weight loss over the next 8 months. But I am in the middle of trying to lose over 100lbs plus, so hope I can sneak in here and support you all whilst reminding myself to maintain my healthier eating habits and stay active through pregnancy.

Last summer I started walking more, and in the autumn I did couch to 5k - a beginner's running program that starts with run/walk intervals. In 2017 I had planned to do a 10k in the spring, a novice triathlon in the early summer, and a half marathon (which I had rather over-ambitiously signed up to in the weeks before I got pregnant!). All with the intention of getting fit enough to concieve!

So instead my aim is to stick with what would have been my triathlon plan - swim x2, bike x 2, run/walk x 2 a week, keeping the intensity low to maintain and increase fitness without putting me/baby under stress, dropping the run/walk intervals down to walking as needed.

Total to lose (highest was last year): 163lbs
Lost so far: 58lbs (was 67lbs before xmas!)
Still to go: 105lbs

Obviously, I might not manage it all this year, but I'm going to try and eat sensibly duing pregnancy and stay active - last time, although I put weight on from about halfway, I had a net loss after baby was born - to minimise excess gain, and then gradually get back into exercise towards the end of the year.

Hope it's okay to cheer you all on. I don't want to let the healthy changes I've made slip.

eatingtomuch · 04/01/2017 06:14

Well done on your weight loss so far third.
It sounds like an excellent plan and congratulations on your pregnancy.

MirabelleTree · 04/01/2017 07:17

A new baby, how exciting !

Is everyone holding up ok with it all? DD's birthday here and I will be having a slice of birthday cake , planning on longish walk this morning .

eatingtomuch · 04/01/2017 07:29

I've been for a quick 20mins walk this morning before sorting my teenagers (getting them out the house for school).
I have planned my food so i hope to stay on plan. It's around now a few days in that I start getting bored. I'm not back at work until tomorrow so plan to keep myself busy de-cluttering the house. My thought process is if the day to day running of the house is easier I'll have more time to focus on me, it also stood me from eating if I'm distracted Wink

ShelaghTurner · 04/01/2017 07:44

Fabulous. Three sets of scales in this house and not one of them works Hmm

DoubleGin · 04/01/2017 07:57

Morning guys ! Hope you're all well, so much to catch up with.
Sounds like we're all doing well !
I'm undecided on what to do today but it will involve some sort of outdoors !!!! 💖

Rumtopf · 04/01/2017 08:10

Morning everyone, I'm pitching in too! I managed to lose 3st a few years ago with magical pills from the dr but alas they're no longer available so I have to get my head around it and do it properly now, especially as I gained 5st back.
So:
Name: Rumtopf
Age: 37
Amount to lose: 104lbs
Lost to date: 0 (first week)

I like the counting down to my goal, that pleases me more than adding it up. I'm not following a specific plan, just cutting out refined sugar, most meat and dairy (bit of an intolerance), high GI carbs and unhealthy fats. I'm using mfp and my Fitbit to do 10'000 steps, as well as swimming at least twice a week.
I'm at the heaviest I've ever been, I have achy hips and a sore knee and I do not want to be this fat when I turn 40! My birthday is in April so I'd like to have lost around 2st by then and we have a holiday booked in late July so another stone and a half by then too.
I think I have body dismorphia but the wrong way round. In my head I am much slimmer than I really am so when I look at pictures I get a huge shock that the fat woman sat next to whomever is actually me. I want my self-image and the recorded image to actually match!

Lumberries · 04/01/2017 09:12

SixtyDegreesNorth

Thanks for the reply, yes I probably don't make enough of my free time right now!

I have 2 dogs who I'm out with at 6am every morning for an hours walk so hopefully that will help. I walk them for 2 hours on a Saturday too.

I'm planning to go to the gym twice/ 3 times a week from next week and DP is joining too. He's also overweight by about the same amount as me.

To be honest, the exercise isn't too much of a problem for me, it's the food I struggle with!

Lumberries · 04/01/2017 09:22

Breakfast at my desk this morning as usual, we have a microwave at work so I microwaved an egg and had it on half a bagel with some ketchup. I like cereal but I wanted something higher in protein and warm so eggs were the answer :)

Really enjoyed it!

I resonate so much with your post rumtopf regarding the body dysmorphia but the wrong way round.

Took my DS to an attraction just before Christmas and had our photo taken. Was please with myself as I was 23 lbs down (started in Oct), but was mortified when I saw my photo.

I know I have to keep on going.

Had to share a photo of my lunch, it was so yummy!

Slow roast tomatoes, olives and goats cheese salad with giant cous cous, a teaspoon of olive oil and raspberry balsamic vinegar as dressing Grin

I really would encourage you to all take measurements! It really helps prove to yourself you are making a difference when you don't see it.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 04/01/2017 13:33

Hi everyone, I'd like and need to join.

I was going to start tomorrow, because that's when I shop for having healthier food in the house but my DH whose had a break from gym and healthy living over Christmas doesn't start till Monday, he'll end up having something like a take away and I'll end up eating it, regretting it and then feeling like a failure already so going to start Monday with him no make it easier on meBlush

Haven't weighted yet but I'm around 250lbs
Losing 100lbs puts at the top of my bmi range.

Autocorrect changed bmi to bum

honeysucklejasmine · 04/01/2017 13:50

Minnie sounds sensible to me. A lot of my giving up is to do with feelings of failure. Also, I find it easier to avoid a takeaway once I am in the swing of weight loss rather than right at the start.

FizzPopping · 04/01/2017 14:09

Hi everyone

Have just read through the full thread and would like to join too.

I have 100lbs to lose from my starting weight last year. I managed to lose 34lbs over about 5 months last year by following a low carb, higher fat diet and avoiding sugar. I felt more alert, had more energy, my skin was clearer and I wasn't getting as much bloating so aside from the weight loss there are plenty reasons for me to do this!

Over the last few months it was a bit half hearted and I've put weight back on so I need to weigh in and see where I'm back up to. I feel that I've put on at least half of what I had lost but trying not to dwell on that, anything off that gets me under the 100lbs is a head start for this year as I see it. I've started to plan my eating for the week so will get shopping done on Friday with all the good stuff and no sugary temptation! I'll weigh in on Sat for first time and post my stats then.

I also started going to Boogie Bounce classes past year which are a great workout and gentle enough on my joints as it's all done on mini trampolines (hypermobile knees means running or high impact stuff leave me with niggly pains so I can't sustain it longer term). It's a pretty fast paced aerobic workout and something toning/stretching. It's good fun and as I got fitter was able to do more. I kept that up one class a week until December then it all went out the window! I'm booked up for 2 classes a week this month and going to try and get walking more as well. I find keeping active helps me make better food choices as I don't want to undo the good work.

Looking forward to hearing about everyones progress. We can do it!

LouiseTM · 04/01/2017 14:14

I certainly am, maybe 180lbs, im starting a slimming world class in the morning, have done it before and was well on my way after loosing 2 stone. Then i fell pregnant and you know how it goes after that 😁, so 20 months and 5 stone heavier im ready to take on the world and do this finally once and for all.😆

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 04/01/2017 16:58

Not sure why but finding SW harder this time? Could it be because I've been eating so much crap?Blush
Stuck to 10-15 syns.
Being such a fussy eater doesn't help, I don't like foods like fruit/veg/onions and anything with a smell or texture so very limited to what I can eat I'm weird I know.

LouiseTM · 04/01/2017 17:18

Ive went back 2 weeks postpartum haha way too soon i found it so hard. The way im looking at it this time is just to get on with it, ive been complaining non stop about my weight to my bf so this time round i am doing what ever it takes for me to finally be happy.. my weight is the only thing in my life im not happy with, ive a beautiful healthy baby girl, very supportive bf and a lovely home so im not letting this take up anymore time whinging about it. Hopefully we all get to where we want to be this time next year. 😆

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/01/2017 18:10

there's so many here now! Grin

Luberries - that looks like a fab lunch! Honey - yes, I'm going to take measurements too - before Christmas, I went through a period of not seeing much on the scales, but did lose a few inches on my waist, which was really motivating.

First day back at work for me, and I'm shattered! So busy, but as a result, I didn't think about food all day Smile I'm still headachy, but otherwise feeling positive and on plan Grin. Low carb dinner is in the oven (with rice for the DCs and DH)... and then an early night I think!
