Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

I hope you feel better soon! Feeling poorly is crap Flowers

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 02/01/2017 10:20

Cross posted tractor.
Thank you for the kind words, that's true I'll never want to see that number again. I wasn't going to look but I needed too.

MirabelleTree · 02/01/2017 10:25

Sorry to hear you are poorly DoubleGin, hope you feel better very soon FlowersBrew

Icant you did it, you went ! We all have to start somewhere and you have now. You can't change what has happened in the past but you most definitely can in the future. This isn't going to be sorted over night but there are lots of us in the same boat and I bet for everyone of us posting there is another lurking.

A year ago people were in the same position of us and now a year later have managed to make a real difference to their weight, health and lives - that will be us next year.

Take each day as it comes. If it gets overwhelming at any point take it half an hour at a time. If something doesn't go ad you planned that is ok, just keep plodding forwards. Doing something is a whole lot better than doing nothing and the something's do add up over time. If by any chance SW doesn't work for you that's ok, there are many different options.

Mirabelle - A year ago people were in the same position of us and now a year later have managed to make a real difference to their weight, health and lives - that will be us next year.

That is such a nice thought. I'm going to hold onto that one. It's going to be long journey, but at the moment, I'm really excited about a healthier future. This is going to be my year Grin

MirabelleTree · 02/01/2017 11:08

That's great Notractors as it is mine too so will be lovely to share it with you and hopefully a lot of others Grin

Cherubneddy1 · 02/01/2017 11:11

Can I join you please? I have 100lbs to lose. Have just eaten and drank everything in sight over Christmas. Starting today. I need to pluck up the courage to weigh myself, although I'm pretty sure I'm about 19 stone Confused.
I'm going to do low carb, high fat. I managed to lose 2.5 stone last year quite easily doing this ( following the Blood Sugar Diet.)
But my will power is shit at the moment.
I'm going to try to go for a 30 min power walk every week day too, for my mental health more than anything. I have a stressful job and usually don't stop for lunch, so a walk would be good.

MirabelleTree · 02/01/2017 11:17

Hello Cherubneddy and welcome. How fantastic to have lost 2.5 stone last year !

Hi all. Just wanted to say I'm still keen to participated. Since first posting I've developed a terrible chest infection (which probably explains my breathlessness when walking anywhere). So when I'm better, I'll get involved. But I haven't eaten anything for four days now - just felt too ill - so in the end it probably will lead to a couple of pounds lost!

TiggyCBE · 02/01/2017 14:55

I'm in.

More exercise, not eating unless I'm hungry, and not eating lots of calories for the evening meal. And less carbs after 6pm as well.

Name: Tiggy
Age: 42
Starting weight: 18st 2lb.

A few years ago I weighed 20 stone and got to 16 1/2.

Ibelieve123 · 02/01/2017 16:36

Here goes
name; I believe
Starting weight : 15.8
Nearly cried seeing & admitting that.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 02/01/2017 16:55

Mirabelle thank you that's very true, I've spent my afternoon looking up success stories to try and get in a positive mindset not that it's worked well:(. I'll be off the self pitying tomorrow!
Last time I weighed I was 16st something, I've never been this big but it's given me determination.
Hi to everyone else I'm awful remembering the names when it comes to posting.

DragonNoodleCake · 02/01/2017 17:20

I have 50-60lbs to lose (til I'm happy, more if I went by BMI) dieting doesn't work for me so I'm starting to think of creative exercise plans to keep me interested. That and cutting out the majority of the junk and Bread. I think I am planning 10 months to do this and having incremental goals along the way. Baseline weigh in is tomorrow - as I've been away at family til today. Here goes, good luck all!!

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 02/01/2017 17:42

I'm in. I'm sick of the pain. In my back, hips, knees. I'm carrying the equivalent of another adult around with me all day everyday Sad

I'm going to make Better food choices. Cut out the cheese I layer on everything and no crap after tea!

I was starting tomorrow but decided enough of the eternal tomorrows and have thrown all the Christmas chocolate and cake and made good choices today.

Good luck everyone!

ToEarlyForDecorations · 02/01/2017 17:44

I'm in.

I've got 8st to lose.

Low fat diet and kick starting exercise is how I will do it.

DoubleGin · 02/01/2017 17:51

Hello everyone !
Feeling better this evening, planning a fast day tomorrow, going to do 4:3 this week so planning to fast Thursday and Friday too.
How's everyone feeling about going back to work ? I like working as there's less time to eat or think about food !

BreakingSad · 02/01/2017 18:09

Hello, I'm still in

This is my first day back on MFP after Christmas. Nice to get back into a bit of a routine after the Christmas break. First time back on my exercise bike too, but taking it slowly as still suffering from a cold.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 02/01/2017 18:11

Gin work will be good in a way as everyone will be cutting down and keeps me busy but I'm a comfort/reward eater so be testing not to do it after stressful days.

BreakingSad · 02/01/2017 18:16

Gin definitely glad to be back at work, easier to keep on track.

DoubleGin · 02/01/2017 18:25

Chesty can totally relate to reward eating, 8 think that's one of my biggest downfalls !
I have fat Starbucks on Saturdays after weigh in ! Blush
I have thought about doing a different reward type thing for myself like putting £1 in a jar for every llb lost !

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 02/01/2017 18:37

Can definitely relate to being a reward eater!

I'm writing up a list of things to treat myself with instead (free and not food related!) - was thinking perhaps some meditation, or giving myself some time to write. I always promise myself I'll improve my writing, but it doesn't ever happen! That's about the extent of my list so far Blush... will try to think of a few more Grin

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 02/01/2017 18:58

yes non food rewards are an excellent idea.
I need to think of some!
New hair do
Cinema
Long bubble bath
Erm...........
It's ridiculous, I spend so much time thinking of food and what I'm going to eat Blush

Diemme · 02/01/2017 19:16

Good day for me today, stuck to 1300 cals all pretty healthy and don't feel hungry :)

WhereHaveYouGinAllMyLife · 02/01/2017 20:52

Non food rewards are the way to go I think. I had a go at curvy yoga last night before bed which was lovely and relaxing and have done some meal prep this afternoon, more yoga before bed tonight I think. I need to get to the Dr because I think I've gone and given myself plantar fasciitis due to my weight Sad and it's stopping me from doing much in the way of exercise.

What is everyone else doing/planning about exercise? I am not confident enough to do anything like the gym or swimming so I'm just walking more and doing random youtube videos.

ImprovisingNow · 02/01/2017 21:04

Just found this thread so can I be a late joiner please. I need to lose 102lb. I'm starting on the 4th as I have a meal out planned for tomorrow.

I am a terrible comfort eater and habitual grazer and my weight has just gone up and up. It needs to stop, now, before I make myself ill! I'm borderline diabetic, borderline high cholesterol, borderline high blood pressure and my gallbladder is playing up - and all of it is self-inflicted. I feel like such a failure Blush
