Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

I only have the flex which was about £55 but it's been so useful. It helped me realise how sedentary I am with my office job (tiny office so very little walking). Now I am doing 2 40 minute walks a day to get my 11,000 or more a day.

StubbleTurnips · 26/02/2017 19:10

I got an Amazon prime deal on a 'fitness tracker', it was all of a tenner and counts steps / syncs to my phone. I've done 9.5k steps today so was pleased with that, for me a Fitbit was a bit over budget so can recommend it for those unsure if they'll use a Fitbit.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/02/2017 19:15

Oh Stubble, that's really interesting - I'm using my phone at the moment, but when the nights get brighter and I'm more active in the evenings, that might be a better option.

ZestyDragon · 26/02/2017 20:01

Is anyone looking ahead and thinking of loose skin? Blush

I think my main issue will be my belly and have looked at the cost of tummy tucks. The main problem there is DH who suffers anxiety and one thing that makes him anxious is anything happening to me. A general anaesthetic for cosmetic surgery would probably cause a massive freak out and panic.

Whilst I am thinking along these lines I see how loose the skin on my inner thighs is and I wonder if that would improve. I also have never had slim legs. I wonder if my calves would slim down.....

Hopefully I will get to where I need to be and can see for myself.

BreakingSad · 26/02/2017 21:18

I'm going to have to live with my new body Zestydragon as I couldn't go through surgery, I do think about it though.

Have a read of this lady, very inspiring.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/02/2017 21:37

I'm trying not to think about loose skin at all Blush - I'm worried I'll just demotivate myself if I think about it too long. I think my belly and boobs will be loose, but I'm covered in stretch marks anyway, so it's not like I'm a gorgeous specimen at the moment Grin

I'm not sure if this is the case, but as I'm tall (5"10/11), I do think there's naturally going to be more excess skin on me, just because there's more skin stretched over a taller skeleton to begin with. Not sure if that's the case or not - most of the blogs/inspiration sites I've seen feature quite short people (max 5"6 or so), so it's hard to make comparisons.

ZestyDragon · 26/02/2017 22:10

Breakingsad I have come across that lady before and she is actually a great inspiration. I actually don't mind having a bit of loose skin etc but my main worry is having a belly overhang because of my back issues. It sounds daft but I worry that it will sort of still pull me forward, tilting my pelvis - it does that already though I am working on strengthening my core.
I would also like to wear a knee length skirt Blush

NoTractor I am 5'7 myself - I do think though that sometime taller people can "hold" themselves well? Either way, I guess we have a ways to go before worrying about it Grin But we will bloody well get there!!

One more stone and I am starting weights I have decided - that's the best way to salvage muscle and help with the skin!

MirabelleTree · 26/02/2017 22:33

I'm assuming I'll have loose skin after the weight loss plus I've had two c sections which really won't help my sto, ach. I'll live with it though or that is the current plan.

I'm wondering roughly how much loss it will take to be obvious .

StubbleTurnips · 27/02/2017 09:26

Tractor this is my one: www.amazon.co.uk/Juboury-Bluetooth-Activity-Wristbands-Pedometer/dp/B01DLPBTJG?tag=mumsnetforum-21

The ones on prime are all more or less the same that look like that for about £12. It doesn't link to MFP which is frustrating but has its own app that it syncs too. I just transfer my calories across manually. It can be temperamental with step counting but I wanted a rough guide, and to not spend a lot of money so it works for me.

Trying not to think about loose skin! Mine will be stomach and boobs as I have stupidly skinny legs for a person of my size.

Rumtopf · 27/02/2017 10:45

Lovely to read of the good losses!

I've got a Fitbit HR charge which I love as it does motivate me to move more.
Knee is back to normal now thank goodness, massaged it a lot on Friday evening, it gave a massive pop when I flexed it and something clearly released, the relief! We really do take our bodies for granted until they start going a bit wrong.

I've just made Dh have a breakfast of low fat yoghurt, a handful of muesli, blueberries and pumpkin seeds instead of his normal fried egg sandwich! Let's see how long it takes until he's raiding the fridge lol.

MirabelleTree · 27/02/2017 13:02

Ouch Rumtopf, glad it resolved itself. Love the sound of that breakfast !

I slowly jogged for nearly 2 mins today (downhill ) . I was rudely interrupted my my phone ringing and then had to relay card details whilst trying to breath. Not convinced it is good for my joints but enjoyed it in a weird kind of way, maybe I should look at running shoes and a decent sports bra ?!

MirabelleTree · 27/02/2017 13:07

Think I might revisit the running idea when I've lost more weight so less stress on my joints, would hate to injure myself and undo my walking regime.

Rumtopf · 27/02/2017 19:07

Mirabelle, have you got a running shop near you that can observe how you jog and suggest the right type of trainer for your gait? Oh and a shock absorber bra is a good idea, otherwise they hurt!
I'm getting my fitness back up to a level I can do C25K without too much pain. I can do the first week of runs and need to build up.

Mirabelle I used to jog when I was slightly lighter than I am now. I really enjoyed it but I found it sore on my knees and stopped. I would like to give it another go but not till I lose about 2 more stone.

Well done notanurse

MirabelleTree · 28/02/2017 07:11

Well done Notanurse.

Thanks for the jogging advice. My hip was really sore last night and not great this morning so decided that's one to leave for now and continue with walking.

StubbleTurnips · 28/02/2017 15:42

Have completely fallen off the wagon today, am 2 kitkats and a cheeseburger down plus pancakes for tea! Confused Sad

Haven't been out for a walk as it's snowing and freezing, being alone in the house is a no no for me!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 28/02/2017 18:31

Never mind Stubble - tomorrow is another day, it's inevitable that some days will be 'not as good' fucking dreadful compared to others!

Good day today, and snapped up some half-price gym leggings in Sainsbury's at lunchtime, hoping they will inspire me a bit more than my current motley collection! Grin

ZestyDragon · 28/02/2017 22:55

stubble its pancake day, its allowed :)

I have hurt my back/hips. The pain is unbearable and no physio until Thursday. I am on strong painkillers tonight but cant take anything whilst at work - and cant take time off as am in the middle of an audit!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/03/2017 17:53

Zesty hope you're not in too much pain, and Mirabelle hope your hip is feeling better too.

notanurse thank you - I was helped by realllly taking my time looking over the menu and thinking quite a lot about what I wanted to eat and how it would taste. I still ordered what I wanted, but felt by that point I really DID want that, and didn't feel the urge to add more sides, or nick bits off DH's plate. In short, I felt a lot more in control than I would have done previously.

I've had a really busy day so have only had time to eat an apple so far today (and a lot of black coffee!) Not ideal to skip two meals, I know, but DH is cooking something something sensible just now and the rest of the week looks much calmer!

Hope you're all having a good day, and if not, well, tomorrow is another day Smile

ZestyDragon · 01/03/2017 20:13

This morning DH had to help me with knickers and socks Sad That's never good. Work is mental so I can't actually take time off either.

I have physio tomorrow but what is stressing me out is the worry that I will gain weight if not walking. I really hate that I can't exercise and it makes me feel less in control of my weight loss if that makes sense? The loss of control can be a bit of a trigger for eating for me so I really hope physio makes a big difference.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/03/2017 20:34

Oh Zesty you poor thing! I hope physio helps tomorrow. Easier said than done, I know, but try not to worry about not being able to exercise - it's more important that you don't do yourself a greater injury. This is (fingers crossed) a temporary blip that you need to ride out before you can get cracking on. We'll all be here for you, come vent to us if/when it gets you down.

slithytove · 01/03/2017 20:56

Weigh in day

Age 30
To lose: 100lbs
Lost this week: 2.5lbs
Lost to date: 6lbs
Left to lose: 94lbs

I'm quite pleased with that as had a terrible week - period, unwell and not sleeping, and husband has been awful buying chocolate and pizza. Hoping to get more on track with healthy eating, drinking water and 10,000 steps a day.

Bought my Fitbit so feel a bit more positive about that.

isithotinhereorisitjustme · 01/03/2017 21:11

Can I join please? I know I'm a bit late to it, but anyway
To lose - 100lbs
Lost so far 28lbs
How many lbs to target - 72
Lost this week - weigh in on a Saturday

I am worried about loose skin too - I am drinking lots of water, using plenty of moisturiser and have started doing the Slimin6 DVD- there is quite a lot of toning stuff on there, and low cardio. I am doing SW at home, but without joining online so a little hit and miss Smile
