Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Well done Notanurse, bang on 2lbs a week. I think getting your head round the food and rewards thing takes time. Is your gallbladder behaving?

I had a sneak peek this morning and went down a number making it bang on 2 stone loss. Am hoping it stays there official Friday WI despite impending AF.

Also found old SW book . Back in 2010 when I was about 40 it took 19 weeks of SW to get to the 2 stone mark compared to 13 weeks this time when I am older, really pleased to see that. That would 19 x whatever the weekly fee was versus £30 for the whole year with Nutracheck.

Rumtopf · 07/02/2017 10:45

Well done Notanurse! Also for the walking too, though that sounds annoying yesterday morning, at least you got there on time.

Mirabelle, hope it stays off for Friday, it's really motivating to see those numbers change. You'd probably have spent at least £100 on SW classes for the equivalent time so that's a good saving to treat yourself with when you get to your next milestone!

AF has arrived this morning thank god. I'm nearly 38 so the time for them to start fooling around is probably imminent but we've been ttc for the last 10 years (on and off, it's too stressful all the time) and for me to be peri menopausal is really quite daunting. I'm booked in next week to have some blood tests done so they can check. I've felt like I've been grieving that stage of our lives being over for the last 6 months or so and tbh that's probably not that healthy! Dh had moved on but now the Dr has said its a possibility he's had a huge mental shift back to it being important again and almost "last chance saloon". This probably isn't the right place to talk it through but you're all so supportive and I can't talk to anyone in rl as there's just too much pressure.

MirabelleTree · 07/02/2017 13:03

Thanks Rumtopf, I definitely should start putting money in a pot ! So sorry to hear of your problems . You are still pretty young for it to be perimenopause and it is really common to have a strange month or two. A friend of mine was in a similar position as you are now. She had her daughter when she was nearly 40 after a good 10 years of miscarriages. I know she found those years very hard as she was talking about them when we met this summer Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 07/02/2017 13:20

Flowers Rumtopf, that's a long time to be under such pressure, even if you haven't told anyone else.

My periods are totally strange with PCOS, but even before then, they would go missing for a month or two if I was stressed or unwell. It's such an inefficient system Grin - I think further proof there is no god, or if there is, he is certainly a man!

HairsprayQueen · 07/02/2017 16:11

Ah Rum, ttc is such a head fuck, in ways that so many people can't imagine and as you say that pressure of talking about it in real life is not ideal. We're here to listen if you need it Flowers

Things are ok here, thanks Not. I still don't really feel like I'm in the zone if that makes sense. I've never had this post Christmas lull so strongly as I have this year, I wonder if it's world events and the general feel of social media etc that is adding to it. However I'm really trying to get positive and get moving!

I've been rereading Eating Less by Gillian something, i half read it a while ago, but it's sinking in a bit more this time and I'm finding bits of it really speaking to me.

I also think I am going to weigh monthly. Partly because i find it too easy to say 'fuck it, I'll give up' if the scales don't show what I want (even if I've lost), and partly because my floors are all so wonky that I can gain or lose 3lbs in seconds. If I weigh monthly I can do it in Boots on their more reliable scales.

Keep going all of you, you're doing so well!

MargotsDevil · 07/02/2017 16:29

Can I join? Started three weeks ago:

Total to lose - 140lb (takes me to top of "healthy" BMU
Lost to date - 13lb (usually weigh on a Sunday - 1st week 6lb, then 3lb, then 4lb on Sunday just past)
Target - 127lb to go...

Doing SW online but think I need some buddies!

BreakingSad · 07/02/2017 17:00

Well done Notanurse and welcome Magotsdevil and Zestydragon.

Rum so sorry you've been going through that. I can't even begin to imagine the stress it must put you under. Offload all you want Flowers

I'm doing better this week, feel more focused, hopefully the scale will show this. Going for a walk later and will try activating my core muscles, it's been a whileGrin

Keep up all the hard work.

BreakingSad · 07/02/2017 17:03

Sorry MargotsDevil for the spelling, typing without my glasses on, always a recipe for disaster.

TaliDiNozzo · 07/02/2017 19:50

Aw thanks for the lovely messages. It's all definitely starting to feel more homely now! I imagine I'll still have a few boxes to unpack for a while yet though!

Am planning a weigh in Monday morning, although am eating reasonably well this week so I'm sort of starting now! Also downloaded Jillian Michaels Beginner Shred onto the sky box so getting ready for her to kill me soon!

Rumtopf · 07/02/2017 20:00

Hi Margots, you're doing so well! I don't do SW myself, but a few of the women on here do and as you can see they're a lovely supportive bunch.

Thanks everyone, normally I'm very pragmatic about it all but sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming. I think it's all caught up with my eating, the pressure to try and lose weight to qualify for IVF, then they changed the goalposts so we no longer qualified and I had a bit of a "fuck it" attitude and on went a few stone. Anyway! My head has been firmly in the game so I just need to keep it there. Thanks for the flowers, I appreciate the space to talk. Xx

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 08/02/2017 17:54

How are we all doing?

At the halfway point of the week, my scales are showing 2lbs up Confused so I'm damning those Hobnobs to hell! Yes, I know it's unlikely to be due to a couple of biscuits - I'm still fighting off this damn cough and cold, so think it's more likely that my body is putting energy towards seeing that off than weight loss. That's my excuse anyway! Wink

MirabelleTree · 08/02/2017 18:03

I went up this morning which pissed me off, really should only look once a week....

PastysPrincess · 08/02/2017 23:10

Ugh. Fell off the wagon tonight and had a kebab. Feel fuckin awful now.

Rumtopf · 09/02/2017 08:26

Was it a drunken kebab though Patsy? Hope you'd had a good evening?!
It's only one meal out of a possible 21 for the week so on balance it's not so bad.

I've not eaten properly at all the last few days, have been feeling crappy so just eating enough of anything carby to take painkillers and haven't logged anything on MFP. Will begin again properly tomorrow!

PastysPrincess · 09/02/2017 08:57

No, nothing to do with drink; I'd had a really good day healthwise having done about 12000 steps and had salad and cardboard, sorry, I mean Ryvita for lunch.

The trouble came because my husband had to go out and help his mum because she is absolutely useless at being an adult and didn't get home until 20:30 pissed off and starving.

I should have just said you have a takeaway and I will cook myself something healthy. I had to put our son to bed whilst my husband was out otherwise I could have done dinner ready for when he got home

HairsprayQueen · 09/02/2017 09:18

Pastys don't think about it as falling off the wagon, like Rum said it's only one meal, don't let it derail you.

I also think it's worth thinking about takeaways in advance in case there are situations where it's necessary, i.e. Knowing that if it's that situation again a chicken shish with loads of salad wouldn't be the worst thing in world so you kind of have a bank of things you can go to in your mind and ask for when life gets in the way. Or knowing which Chinese does something lighter like prawn stir fry veg etc. If that makes sense (and I hope it doesn't sound preachy, I'm not exactly a model of good choice behaviours!)

PastysPrincess · 09/02/2017 12:14

All good suggestions. Someone else has suggested to me that I make up some healthy freezer meals so when life gets too busy, instead of resorting to a takeaway you can just sling them in the microwave.

I'm too easily swayed by my husbands bad habits. We are both supposed to be losing weight but he is a very fussy eater and doesnt do compromise so sometimes I just give in; he will only eat what he fancies in any given day and what he likes changes for day to day too.

On the bright side I have totted up the calories and exercise from yesterday and it turns out I've only ended up going over by about 200 calories as I did so much exercise.

Rumtopf · 09/02/2017 21:02

I agree with having "go to" takeaways in your head ready - mine's a chicken shish kebab with extra large salad and no sauce.

I really find exercising tough when AF is here, I feel properly weak and pathetic! It's a struggle to do my steps, the gym has been forgone for the sofa.

MirabelleTree · 10/02/2017 07:10

2.25lb off this week so 29lbs lost, 71lbs to lose. Very happy with that as that's 2 stone now.

Hello losers.

I have been awol since slipping off the wagon 2 weeks ago. DH and I went away for a few days to celebrate our anniversary and I struggled to get my motivation back afterwards.

I reluctantly got back on the scales this morning to see what the damage was and somehow, I managed to lose another 4lbs. I'm baffled as to how as, while I wasn't bingeing or anything, I definitely wasn't being as careful as I should have been about my food. I had 2 takeaways this week! How much more could I have lost if I'd actually been careful?

so, if you'll all give me a leg up to help me back on the wagon, I'll get back on and work on getting my focus back.

Haven't RTFT for 2 weeks so going to go back and check up on everyone's progress.

Update on stats
Name: SpornStar
To lose: 140lbs
Lost to date: 15lbs
Still to lose: 125lbs

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 10/02/2017 19:34

Well done Mirabelle! That's a really good approach notanurse - my DH would happily have a takeaway 2 or 3 times a week, it's so easy to slide into that way of thinking.

My cough and cold is still making me feel rubbish - and I really don't think the scales are going to be kind to me tomorrow as I'm massively bloating for some reason Confused. However, rest of the family seem to have shaken the lurgy off, so I'm sure I will too. A quiet weekend ahead I think!

Hope you all have more exciting plans than I have lined up!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 10/02/2017 19:35

Cross-posted! Welcome back Sporn - and 4lbs is fab, especially when so unexpected!

BreakingSad · 11/02/2017 08:46

Welcome back Sporn and well done Mirabelle.

So happy 5 lbs lost (most I've lost in one week), makes up for last weeks gain, AF really messes with me either side of it. But really kept on track and you ladies helped me so much.

To lose 113 lbs
Lost to date 32 lbs
Left to lose 81 lbs
Lost this week 5 lbs Shock

Now not to mess it up this weekend. Have a good weekend everyone.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 11/02/2017 08:54

Breaking that is amazing, well done!!

As predicted, I'm up 2lbs, and can't really explain why! Blush This cold has meant I've sat on the sofa and been less active, so perhaps that explains the bloat. Hopefully I can kick it into touch this weekend and can power on next week.

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 17 lbs
Left to lose: 107 lbs
GAINED this week: +2 lbs Confused
