Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Well done honey and hooray for the essay being done Hairspray!

I've lost 2.5 lbs this week - so reached my milestone target. Would ideally like to hit '100lbs to go' in two weeks time, we'll see!

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 19 lbs
Left to lose: 105 lbs
Lost this week: 2.5lbs

Hope you all have a good weekend Smile

Rumtopf · 04/02/2017 11:16

Amazing losses all round! Well done everyone.

Have to be careful tonight, my friends Birthday party with lots of definitely not diet friendly food. Weekends are trickiest for me!

Chesty, I have PCOS too. Have you had the Dr's check how insulin resistant you are? I was on Metformin for a while to even out my insulin and hormones while we ttc. The advice from the nutritionist then was to avoid any white carbs, eat as low carb as was reasonable and try to stick to a low GI diet.

BreakingSad · 04/02/2017 14:02

Well done everyone great losses, I've let the side down. Wish it was as easy to take off the pounds as it is to put onGrin. I've put on 3 lbs, not really a surprise.

To lose: 113 lbs
Lost to date: 27 lbs
Left to lose: 86 lbs
Lost this week: +3 lbs Blush

Back on it and been for a 6km walk this morning.

MirabelleTree · 04/02/2017 14:45

27lbs down plus getting back on it after a gain is not letting the side down Brew

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/02/2017 19:15

Mirabelle has it exactly right - there's no way that is letting the side down! Hold your head high Breaking, the scales will start moving downwards again.

BreakingSad · 04/02/2017 20:02

Thank you both.
I love this thread, so supportive Flowers
I saw this image on another thread and it's so right.

Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?
ChestyNut · 05/02/2017 10:07

rumtopf I had metformin years ago but gave me horrendous loose stools and didn't seem to make a difference to my symptoms.

Week 5
To lose- 100lbs
Lost to date- 10 1/2 lbs
Loss this week- 1 1/2 lbs
Total loss- 12lbs
Left to lose- 88lbs

It's slow going, but it's going right?
Must keep focus!

Have a good week all Flowers

MirabelleTree · 05/02/2017 10:14

Well done Chestynut, you're averaging 2.4lbs a week which is great !

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 05/02/2017 10:37

Well done chesty and I love that image Breaking - so true!

It stutters and stops for no reason and takes big steps, and then loads of little ones, and the jumps up and comes back down etc. etc. - but if the general trend is moving downwards, I'll happily take all of that Grin

MirabelleTree · 05/02/2017 11:47

That swirly bit on the image looks like what I produced after using the embroidery sewing machine at college by accident last week ! You see more on the scenic route going somewhere I always think and still end up where you want to be at the end.

ChestyNut · 05/02/2017 13:16

Love that image breaking.

mirabelle if I can keep losing that a week I'd be very happy.
It's hard to get my head around slow and steady as I did VLCD for a long time and had massive losses (17lb Ina week) but it wasn't sustainable and I put it all back on and more Sad

TaliDiNozzo · 05/02/2017 15:04

Hi all. OP here. Sorry fell off the wagon due to house move and home drama! Back with you all next week. And still hoping to lose 100lbs in 2017!

Rumtopf · 05/02/2017 16:08

Hi Tali hope the move went ok, the boxes are unpacked and you're in some semblance of normality?

My AF is still awol which is messing about with the scales annoyingly. I've been known to gain half a stone in water in the run up to it, so now I just want it over and done with to know my true weight as I've really been putting in the effort at the gym.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 05/02/2017 19:18

Hi Tali, good to see you back!

Today hasn't been the best day for me - I've just eaten 4 hobnobs Blush Stuffed full of the cold and thought they might cheer me up... they haven't and now my stomach is making some very strange noises! Shock

Going to get an early night and start again tomorrow! Wink

MirabelleTree · 05/02/2017 19:52

Hi Tali good to see you and I hope your new place is feeling like home.

Rumtopf huge sympathies on the non arriving AF. I get that a lot these days and it is really annoying and makes me want to hit the biscuits.

NoTractors, hipevyiy get a good night'scsleep. Would eating thevhobnobs have made you feel better previously? If so then that sounds like progress on the whole emotional eating thing I think most of us can relate to.

Laselva · 06/02/2017 07:56

To lose - 100lb
Loss to date - 11lb
Gain this week - 1lb
Left to lose - 89lb

Gain for me this week. Had a few meals out and 1 drinking night, that combined with being pre-menstrual has lead to a gain. I can actually feel the water retention, so hoping it flushes itself out quickly. A quiet social week this week so should easily get back on track. Hope everyone has a good week.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/02/2017 13:03

That's the attitude Laselva - wouldn't life as a woman just be so much easier if we didn't have hormones and bloodbaths every month for 30 odd years?!

Thanks Mirabelle - I don't know if I'd have previously thought the hobnobs would make me feel better, but I'd certainly have mindlessly rammed them in anyway, despite not having a sweet tooth! So I suppose on a subconscious level, I probably did think they would soothe me Confused My stomach certainly did not thank me for them so even more incentive to not do that again Wink

ZestyDragon · 06/02/2017 14:47

I have been lurking on this thread so its really time to join in!

I'm using MFP and have lost a stone since Christmas. I have an underactive thyroid which does seem to have an effect even with the right drugs - I have realised that exercise is essential for me.

Name: Zesty
Start: 287lbs
Current: 273lbs
Loss: 14lbs
Goal: 160lbs

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/02/2017 15:15

Hi ZestyDragon (brilliant name) - welcome and well done on the first stone!

I really need to make more effort with my exercise - what sort of things are you doing? (Shamelessly pinching ideas)

ZestyDragon · 06/02/2017 15:28

Hey Tractor at the moment I am simply walking. My core is buggered and therefore I have a constant sore back and get regular private physio. I used to run, lift heavy weights, go to the gym etc but I am back to basics at the moment and working on activating my core as I walk. There has been a huge improvement. I work long hours so I walk for 35 minutes in the morning and again in the evening and on days off I do a long walk. DH, some friends and I are all on a WhatsApp group in relation to our fitbit and push each other along. I am quite competitive......Blush

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/02/2017 17:31

Ooh, I don't think I've activated my core since I stopped riding horses 10 years ago! Blush

That's a brilliant idea - I'm going to start trying that on my walks back and forth from work Smile

ZestyDragon · 06/02/2017 20:19

Tractor it did take a few weeks to get the hang of walking with tummy muscles pulled in but it actually has had a positive effect!

Rumtopf · 06/02/2017 21:14

Hi Zesty!

I am feeling like crap. My AF has STILL not arrived, it's 4/5 days overdue and today I am knackered, utterly bone draggingly weary. I forced myself to the gym this evening as I met a friend for coffee at lunch and had a humongous slice of carrot cake. It was totally worth it though! Just waiting 15 mins to pick dd up from her club and then I'll be home and in bed by 10. Yay!

MirabelleTree · 07/02/2017 07:13

Hi Zesty and welcome. NoTractors I think that might be a positive thing for the future then, fingers crossed. Rumtopf are you at that age where the whole period thing starts to go to pot? I get awful PMT when AF does the whole not showing up thing, you have my sympathies.

Walking is only actually for me currently. I see we're supposed to do strength training twice a week but can't face that yet.
