Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

I'm not doing very well. I'll not drag the thread down with my shite but wanted to check in and say well done to you all, you are doing amazing Smile

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 31/01/2017 20:20

Forgot to check in yesterday

Not a good week this week for me, put on 1/4lbSad

To lose 101
Lost this week +1/4lb
Total lost 9.5lb
Left to lose 91.5lb

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 31/01/2017 21:32

Sorry to hear that Hairspray - if you need to vent, we're all here Flowers

Minnies - don't be too hard in yourself, my scales can easily fluctuate by 1/2 lb or so, so it might be a different story in a day or two Smile

I'm totally shattered today - but avoided the naice biscuits in a work meeting, and stayed on track, so a good day overall. I need to get back on the cross-trainer tomorrow - it's been a little half-hearted for the last week Blush

HairsprayQueen · 01/02/2017 09:20

Half of me thinks it's been a tough week as ds2 has had a horrible cough resulting in lots of night time wake ups and early mornings, it's essay time at uni for me and I've got a cold now so I just feel pretty miserable. Added to that the crappy grey days I just want to hibernate and eat crisps!

However the other half of me is quite aware that these are all excuses and the reason I got so fat is because I always have some reason to fall back on as to why I 'need' to eat stodge.

I'm becoming the kind of person I dislike- moaning about something but not actually changing anything about it.

I binged yesterday which I think has added to my despair, proper standing at the cupboard cramming it in my mouth, which I hadn't done for ages. But even without the binging I've been eating too much.

Anyway, sorry for the woe is me post- hopefully writing it all out will help me unwrap it all a bit!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 01/02/2017 17:07

Don't be too hard on yourself Hairspray - you sound like you're tired, stressed and ill. Even before you add an ill child into the mix, it's clear you're going through a hell of a lot.

Hope you've managed to draw a line under the binging yesterday- the old 'coping' mechanisms do appear when you're low (the skin around my nails is testament to that!), but at the risk of sounding flippant, you'll get through it, and we're all here to lend an ear too. I hope today has been a better day, for you and your DS. Smile

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 01/02/2017 19:14

Anyone suffering with The Hunger? I have tea around half 5 and from 7pm I'm so hungry! Proper gurgling stomach uncomfortable hunger Hmm

How long does it take to "reprogramme" your stomach? I can't really be hungry can I Sad

BreakingSad · 01/02/2017 20:46

Hairspray you're dealing with a lot there, writing it all down is a good way to help
you see what's going on. Hope you and your little one feel better soon.

Me, I've tried to keep on track but have failed miserably the last couple of days. I'm using AF as an excuse, tomorrow is a new day.

Rumtopf · 02/02/2017 08:48

Hairspray that sounds like you've got a hell of a lot to cope with at the moment. Try not to beat yourself up about what you're eating right now, get better, get your ds better and your workload managed and then review your eating. You can make more frequent small healthy decisions in the meantime but being tough on yourself at the moment will only be counterproductive.

Chestynuts I get that at about 9pm, I have a drink and either pick up some craft things I'm in the middle of to keep my hands busy or go to bed! What are you eating? Could you need lower GI food and more protein to keep you fuller for longer?

AF still hasn't turned up, I have a stinking headache and could eat the world!

HairsprayQueen · 02/02/2017 09:43

Thank you, you are all so kind to me!

I think I need to find a middle ground with weight watchers too. Week 1 I didn't seem to have enough points and felt stressed, week 2 I cut down on all kinds of things but went a bit fake food orientated and had loads of points left over but was miserable. Next week I want to focus on good nourishing food (she says currently downing a Monster trying to stay awake and write!) and less snacky bits. Will plan better and not get panicky.

Thanks again Flowers

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 02/02/2017 14:33

Rumtopf I have a good sized meal. Generally something like homemade curry with chicken in and rice?
I've tried drinking lots and distracting self but the rumbles carry on Sad

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 02/02/2017 17:49

That sounds like a good plan Hairspray, I think it's such a fine balance, and so easy to go either way.

Chesty I'm afraid I don't have any helpful suggestions - my stomach makes strange noises most of the time Blush

In very un-literary reading - has anyone else read this month's Sainsburys magazine? There is one really interesting article on emotional eating, and some diet inspiration from Tom Kerridge - I knew he lost a lot of weight, but he lost 11 st! If he can do that, I can definitely shift my excess weight! Grin

Rumtopf · 02/02/2017 21:05

His book looks great, I'll have a look at the Sainburys magazine. A friend uses their website for recipes, so I had a browse through and there were some fantastic ideas there.

Chesty, is it white or brown rice you're eating? If it's white you might be having an insulin spike and then a trough which is making you feel so hungry? Or it could just be that your body is used to eating more quantity and more frequently so is protesting.

HairsprayQueen · 02/02/2017 21:14

I read a Tom Kerridge interview in (I think) The Times and I thought it was interesting that he really treated alcohol and carbs in the same way an alcoholic or addict might, he was saying how he knew one taste or bite would lead to his downfall again.

I thought that was quite interesting, but not sure if it's for me!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 02/02/2017 21:42

Yes, that mindset does seem a bit extreme!
A roast potato doesn't quite have the same menace as a crack pipe! Grin

Hope everyone is having a good day- I'm looking forward to having a weekend hibernating on the sofa (we've all got colds) but have the fridge stocked up, so will stay on plan.

Rumtopf · 02/02/2017 21:51

That's a bit too hardcore for me!

I've done a fast day today and am feeling really hungry right now so might just go to bed. Have my best friend's 40th Birthday party on Saturday night so will have to spend a few hours in the gym tomorrow and Saturday morning so I don't have to be so on point with what I eat and drink.

Hope you're all better soon NoTractors.

MirabelleTree · 03/02/2017 07:09

Hope you're better soon Tractor. I've not been ill as much since switching to vitamin c with zinc that hospital recommended to Dad's friend.

1.25 lb loss for me this week so 26.5 lbs in total leaving 73.5lbs to go.

Rumtopf · 03/02/2017 09:43

Well done Mirabelle!

2 lbs loss for me. 12 lbs total. 92 lbs to go.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 03/02/2017 10:14

We'll survive Wink it's the first real cold we've all had this winter. Just a bit snuffley and a barking cough! I will look into the vit c and zinc though. I take a multi-vit but I'm not entirely sure what it has in it (and in what amounts) so it might be worth switching.

Well done to both of you on your losses - you're doing really well!

MirabelleTree · 03/02/2017 10:22

Thanks both of you. Well done Rumtopf, nearly at that first stone mark. I've heard the cough is nasty Notractors, take good care of yourself Flowers

Rumtopf white rice. I'll give the brown a try.
I have PCOS so the insulin stuff could be the problem.

Well done on the losses!

MirabelleTree · 03/02/2017 19:34

Glad the gallstones behaving Notanurse, mine has behaved pretty well this week. I'm walking for exercise and logging it with a Fitbit which syncs with the calorie counting package I use so I can ensure I get the defecit I want,

Eg have done 10,600 steps today which looking back means I'll burn about 2650 calls today. I've eaten 1640 so I know I'll have a 1000 calorie defecit. So far it is working....

HairsprayQueen · 03/02/2017 22:54

Feel better soon notrees, well done for all the losers this week!

My essay is done (just need DH to format it as I've somehow made half of it blue and I can't fix it!?), my nose has stopped running so no more tissue nose tampons and ds is sleeping better so I am on this from now on. I fucking hate tracking points I've realised but it's for the best, I do lose when I do it properly.

honeysucklejasmine · 04/02/2017 07:37

To lose: 104 3/4lbs
Lost to date: 27 1/4 lbs
Left to lose: 77 1/2 lbs
Lost this week: 1 1/2 lb

Sooo close to the 2 stone mark! Think I shall put a bag together today weighing that so I can remind myself how I did.

Really pleased my weekend of indulgence didn't ruin it - but I do think my definition of indulgence has changed! I didn't eat crap, just normal food that isn't on the plan. And normal amounts of it! Oh, and a McDonald's. Grin

MirabelleTree · 04/02/2017 08:02

Hope you had a decent night sleep HairsprayQueen. DH has been diabetic since he was 9 so I'm trying to look at calorie counting as like him counting carb units so it's a health thing. That makes it feel a bit better in my mind and things are much easier now you can just zap barcodes.

Well done Honeysuckle! I'm 1.5lbs off 2 stone and was really hoping to have done it by next Friday, but I am due on the next day so guess I might have to wait another week. Just worked out my average loss works out at 2.2lbs over the 12 weeks so pleased with that as was aiming at 2lbs. Skin holding up ok but early days.

That feeling I have more energy feeling gone out of the window and I feel absolutely shattered but it has been a very stressful week. Weekends I have to be careful on as on a Sunday when I relax I can end up with something like 1.5k steps which drastically lowers what I expend -700 calories less than if I do 10k steps. That was quite sobering when I worked that out.
