Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Better loss this week. According to my app I am 25% of the way through. I would still like it to go faster though!

Hang in there HairsprayQueen, next week will look different. Honeysuckle congratulations on your 25% too ! I'd like it to go faster too really but I think a steady pace is better really.

Notanurse it's because the original GP told me to lose weight before am op and at the beginning there were long periods of no symptoms. Then life got horrible for about 11 years with 3 of our parents being ill and dying abroad and it was easier just to manage the attacks as I didn't have time for an op between them and the DC. With hindsight I should have made time though. Bit scared about an op as never had one other than c section but it has to come out, it kicked off again yesterday. I've got just one stone which means less likely to get into bile duct as is big at 3cm so less risk of complications. I have had to have antibiotics twice though and have been lucky things didn't escalate.

Fully get the scared to eat bit. I have found for me eggs, cottage cheese and satsumas are trigger foods and I'm twitchy around raw onions. Some things can be fine one time and not on another. Things like chicken, turkey, smoked salmon, tuna have always been fine with veg , basmati rice, new potatoes. If you get stuck and need something in a hurry the M and S and Waitrose low fat ready meals have been fine. I tend to do batches of something like chicken stew to have handy in the freezer.

Brilliant losses! I love the milestone idea too, that's great.

Not a nurse, that's good you've been referred, did they have any idea on how long it might take?
I'm just about to turn 38 so I hope it's not peri-menopause, although it's possible I guess.

I've sts this week, which is fine. That's 10lbs lost in Jan, 94lbs to go.

Oh gosh Flowers to all of you who have had/are having issues with your gallbladder.

I've had an on-track couple of days - even had coffee in a cafe today renowned for its cake and smugly ignored it Grin. Didn't even consider it once! Totally jittery on caffeine instead - not sure the second americano was a good idea Blush

BreakingSad · 28/01/2017 08:17

Morning, well done to all the losses, I have stayed the same. Not a surprise as I've struggled this week, but pleased I didn't put any on.

To lose 113
Lost to date 30
Total left to lose 83
Lost this week 0

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 28/01/2017 08:57

Good attitude Breaking, hope this week is better for you.

I'm down 2lbs, which I'm pleased with Smile I'm really looking forward to hitting milestones too - getting below the 100lb marker is a big one for me.

If I focus on what I've lost, I think 'oh I'm doing ok' and slack off a bit, so keeping focus on what's to come will help me. Markers like 100, 95, 90, 85 lbs to go will really help me. Going to aim to crack the 105lb one by this time next week

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 16.5 lbs
Left to lose: 107.5 lbs
Lost this week: 2lbs

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 28/01/2017 19:28

Blush have I broken the thread?

Hope you're all enjoying your weekends! I'm quite happily resisting the treats that DH and the DCs have been indulging in

I have also decided that I'm going to give up booze entirely this year. I love wine, and have been drinking far less compared to previous years, but I've never had the healthiest relationship with it. I figure that whilst I'm addressing my relationship with food, I should knock this one into shape too.

honeysucklejasmine · 28/01/2017 20:37

Well done everyone! And thank you Mirabelle!

I am away this weekend in the west country. Not sticking to plan but not going mad either. Feel a bit constipated though Blush

Be interesting to see the damage on Monday.

Checking in
Week 4
To lose-100lbs
Lost this week- 2lbs
Total lost -10 1/2 lbs
Left to loose-89 1/2lbs

hairspray I'm also looking forward to not worrying about ride restraints and plane seats, I'm going to Orlando in November Grin

tractors I have more than 100lbs to lose but thought I'd start here. Being down in the 80s left to lose feels better.

I also had classic gallstone/bladder pains but had scan and no stones Hmm

Laselva · 29/01/2017 10:08

Week 4 weigh in for me this morning.
To lose -100lb
Loss to date - 12lb
Left to lose - 88lb
Loss this week - 2lb
Nearly made the first stone, hoping that gives me the motivation to stay on track this week.
I haven't taken my measurements yet this week (waiting for DH to leave the bedroom) but after the first 3 weeks I'd lost 2 inches off each thigh and almost 2 inches off my bust, yet nothing off my waist. I'm a proper apple shape so really need to shift it from my tummy so hoping to see some inch loss there soon.
Thanks to everyone who is posting, it's really helping me get through my weaker moments.

WhereHaveYouGinAllMyLife · 29/01/2017 10:43

I am weighing in monthly, so month 1
To lose - 100lbs
Lost this month - 17lbs
Left to lose - 83lbs

I am in shock, I do always get big numbers near the beginning due mainly to losing water weight and bloating I think. I'm very happy and it's so motivating. I think weighing in monthly is the way to go for me because hopefully it means I will always see a loss, when I have weighed weekly and not seen any loss or a gain it throws me off massively. I'm still surprised by this month though.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/01/2017 12:58

Gin that is fabulous! Smile
laselva it's really helping me to check in on this thread too.

Rumtopf · 29/01/2017 21:26

Gin, wow that's amazing!

I've had a bit of a weekend off but will be back on it tomorrow. Dh had ordered a couple of bags of Huel to try but didn't like it so I think I might start using those up this week.

PastysPrincess · 29/01/2017 21:33

To lose 108lb
Loss To date: 20lb
Loss this week: -
Left to lose: 88

Fell off the wagon really badly these last few weeks but got back on this weekend.

How do people keep motivated- it just seems too big a task at the moment.

MirabelleTree · 30/01/2017 01:39

Flipping heck Gin that is amazing ! A big well done to everyone who has lost and also to those who haven't but are back here.

Pastysprincess it is a big thing to deal with . I try not to look at the bigger picture and just break it down inti chunks which seem more manageable. 20lbs is a great loss. Pick up some potatoes or something weighing it and you start to realise how much you've achieved, it's also well on the way to losing 10% of your body weight and that has been found to bring big health benefits such as decreasingly risk of diabetes and lowering blood pressure.

Hard to,e of year to be doing this but very soon the nights will start to get that little bit longer, the bulbs will start emerging and things will feel that little bit easier.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 30/01/2017 20:21

Gin you are such a loser, well done! Grin

Pastys - it seems a massive task when you look at it in one go, Mirabelle is right! Every little bit helps, it all counts, and even if you do go a bit awol, you can bring yourself back on track. Losing 20lbs is massive though - well done! Just keep going - we're all about endurance!

I'm doing well today - had a nifty sidestep of the biscuits and muffins at work, and I've even organised myself enough tonight to have sorted lunches and tomorrow night's dinner too. Feel very Nigella-like!

PastysPrincess · 30/01/2017 20:48

Husband is supporting me and has prepared lunch for tomorrow. I have eaten really well today too. I walked to work and went for a walk on my lunch as well.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 30/01/2017 20:52

Sounds like you're doing really well - try to hang on to that feeling, that "today has been a good day", I find it's really helpful to keep aiming for that emotion - it feels really good to be doing something proactive Smile

Rumtopf · 31/01/2017 10:42

You're doing well Patsy, nearly a stone and a half - try carrying something that heavy around for a while to really visualise what you've lost.
I use my Fitbit to motivate myself, I get inordinate satisfaction from having all my goals turn green and flash at me (even running up and down the stairs a few times on the way to bed to get enough flights of stairs in?!), it also helps that I'm really conscious now of every 5% I lose adding years onto my life expectancy. I enjoy my life, I want to enjoy it for longer!

BreakingSad · 31/01/2017 10:46

Well done everyone on all the losses.

But how do you all cope with AF? I'm really struggling. I've had coco pop instead of my usual porridge and a cheese sandwich and crisps instead of a green smoothie, I have logged it all in MFP thoughGrin.
Any tips? I seem to struggle both before and during my visit from AF.

Rumtopf · 31/01/2017 12:18

Breakingsad I want to eat for England. AF is due tomorrow ish and today was meant to be a fast day. I've just had to have a sandwich with my bowl of veggie soup so have blown the fast day but will stay within my overall calorie allowance.
I don't worry about it too much, my periods are horrendous so figure my body needs a bit of looking after while it's in so much discomfort. I'll try and stay within my calories for the day even if I eat more carbs than usual, if I'm a bit over then I'll take the dog for a longer walk than usual or have an extra fast day the following week.

Options hot chocolate and a few squares of really high % dark chocolate always helps too.

BreakingSad · 31/01/2017 13:24

Thanks Rumtopf, right aim today, stay within calories and chill out.
Fitbit really helps me too, I've upped my walking loads (and love it when it goes green too when I've reached all targets).
