Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Lumb I've not done weight watchers for years and the system has changed since then, how are you getting on with it?

It's really strange getting back in touch with my actual hunger. Even if it's dinner time and I'm not hungry then I'm not eating.

I've got a migraine building since yesterday and all I fancy is something sweet. I may have to stop off and get some dark chocolate on my way home later!

Lumberries · 19/01/2017 16:54

Rumtopf I'm doing pretty well on it actually, surprisingly so.

They've changed the system now to focus on reducing satfat and sugar and upping protein, so it's actually now not worth buying any of their products as there's lower point alternatives elsewhere. For example, their icecream products have gone from 3 points to 9 points! Shock

Because protein is so low in points, your chicken is like 3sps for a breast or tuna is only 1 point for a whole can, so it's much more "cost" effective in terms of points to have loads of protein for lunch and then you just don't snack as much if at all.

I've actually found I'm encouraged to not eat anything majorly processed and I'm not having to "fake" unhealthy food by doing anything random like making cookies from protein powders and eggs or whatever. If I want a cookie, there's plenty of room in my daily points for one, but only one. There's no "cheating the system" like there is with other diets, you just eat healthier foods to fit more into your daily points, or you use your weeklies to have a treat etc.

There's something called the blue dot challenge where you have a "tracking zone", which is +10 to -3 points around your budget. So for example, my points target is 40 per day, so every day I have to eat 37-50 points. This stops my usual trick of eating as few points as possible, becoming over hungry and deprived and then binging! This is why there's no cheating the system: It doesn't pay off to use fewer points on unsatisfying gross junk food substitutes. You may as well have the real thing because you need to be in your tracking zone by the end of the day, and treats fit into this easily :)

That sounds like a great change in the WW program Lum - I'll admit I looked it up more than a few years ago, and came away utterly bamboozled! Sounds much more..stickable (? not sure if that's even a word or not) now.

Sayrra - so impressed with your Costco restraint, DH goes loopy in there and can't be trusted to go alone! Shock

I'm feeling good again, I don't think I'll lose as much this week as I did last week (thanks to my illicit pizza dalliance) but the change in my stomach this week is remarkable - I bloated hard after Monday night, and feel so much flatter now I've been back on the wagon a few days.

Hope everyone else is doing well, it's lovely that this thread is so busy Smile

SayrraT · 19/01/2017 20:43

Reggae I got them from someone at Christmas but they are lovely. They are actually extra dark.

Diemme · 19/01/2017 22:39

Doing much better now! Sticking to around 1300 cals per day which mfp gives me to lose 2lb a week. Someone on another thread said they find it helpful to have a tin of soup for lunch. I decided to give it a go and think I'm converted. Means I can have a hot filling meal for 200 calories.

Rumtopf · 19/01/2017 22:47

Lumb thanks for the explanation, that sounds a lot more workable, sensible and practical for the long-term! You've obv got to grips with it, glad it's working so well for you.

Sayrra are they greasy like the red ones?

Glad the bloating has gone down Notractors it's horrid feeling like that. I realised today that I've had no bread at all since New Year and feel dramatically better for it!

Rumtopf · 19/01/2017 22:50

Diemme, it's a good idea isn't it. Soup is so easy and nutritious. I stick to around the same amount of cals in MFP, it's not too arduous is it?

MirabelleTree · 20/01/2017 07:07

I've been doing soup too this week. I like smoked salmon, kale, beans and pasta and think of it as fake ramen. Nutracheck gives me 1684 calories to lose 2 pounds a week. I don't necessarily eat them all, depends on activity levels as I try to get 1000 cal defecit a day.

Week 10 weigh day fo me today, 2.25lbs off. Total lost 22.75lbs so 77.25lb to go. I'm averaging over 2lbs a week which is what I'm aiming for so pleased with that. I've lost about 4 inches from my waist and an 1.5 inches from thighs.

SpornStar · 20/01/2017 09:53

Weigh in this morning and this week I have lost.....fuck all Angry

I don't know why as I have counted every calorie I have consumed, been under my calorie limit every day and been 100% on top of it. I did have a big loss in the first week and a half (10lbs in 10 days) though so I'm trying not to be too disheartened, hoping that this is a blip and the scales will catch up next week. I really want to shift 4 more pounds before I the end of January so Fingers crossed...

Well done to those reporting more losses. And thanks to those suggesting a cure for my headaches...all better now, thanks Smile

Rumtopf · 20/01/2017 12:22

2lbs off for me this week = 10 total, 94 to go!

Well done Mirabelle.

Sporn that's frustrating! Are you drinking enough water? Glad the headache's eased now.

SpornStar · 20/01/2017 13:38

I always drink loads of water, Rumtopf. I really can't account for it at all as I have been really conscientious about tracking everything I've eaten and making healthy choices. Not letting it put me off though, if anything it's made me more determined to see those scales move next week.

Well done on your loss Smile

MirabelleTree · 20/01/2017 14:29

Are you near your period or mid cycle Sporn? They can get in the way and I think a big loss at the start can lead to a week of no loss. Sounds like your head is totally in the right place to do this which is the most important thing.

MirabelleTree · 20/01/2017 14:29

Well done Rumtopf!

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 20/01/2017 17:05

Well done all these losses. Frustrating as it is, I think there are weeks where your body just stalls for whatever reason. Probably hormonal often.

I have been eating Sainsbury's 'meal pot' soups for lunch. Come in at under 300cal and they are incredibly filling. They have stopped me reaching for the biscuits in the afternoon at work. I can recommend!

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 20/01/2017 17:09

Yum!

HairsprayQueen · 20/01/2017 18:50

I haven't posted this week as like an idiot I haven't been on track at all and didn't want to be a bad influence!

So tonight I've drawn up a big list of all the available diets I can do with pros and cons and asked DH to provide feedback and advice and so tonight I've signed up for weight watchers again.

Really determined now, the threads recently with people posting that they are terrified they are going to drop down dead due to weight with a much lower bmi than me has scared me a bit.

HairsprayQueen · 20/01/2017 18:52

Ps. The clincher of me convincing DH that I didn't need to go to meetings was this thread so I'm going to be updating religiously- track me down if not!!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/01/2017 18:57

Well done Hairspray - takes courage to start anew, and welcome back!

It's so easy to avoid posting when you think you're not doing as well as everyone else, but we're all in this together, so keep posting!

I've been on track today - I was going to have a glass of wine tonight as a treat, but I just don't fancy it. I did buy myself some ridiculously bright lipstick yesterday, so have spent the day reapplying it (luckily I was alone in the office today!) and pretending I'm a glam young thing, instead of a fat and frumpy thing...it was very cheering Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 21/01/2017 09:42

Hmm...Blush Not great.

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 14.5 lbs
Left to lose: 109.5 lbs
Lost this week: 0.5lbs

Just goes to show me that shovelling carbs down my throat on one night, does have a knock-on effect for that week. More incentive to keep on the straight and narrow!

honeysucklejasmine · 21/01/2017 10:42

To lose: 104 3/4lbs
Lost to date: 24 1/2 lbs
Left to lose: 80 1/4 lbs
Lost this week: 1/4 lb

One fucking quarter of a pound?!?? 😭😭😭😭

BreakingSad · 21/01/2017 12:26

To lose: 113 lbs
Lost to date: 30 lbs
Left to lose: 83 lbs
Lost this week 3 lbs

Reached my first target of 29 lbs loss.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 21/01/2017 12:27

tractors and honey even a small lose is heading in the right direction, when I'm not losing, even small amounts I'm usually gaining.

Every 1/4lb adds up.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 21/01/2017 12:28

Crossed posts. Well done breaking

SpornStar · 21/01/2017 13:24

Great news, Breaking! Well done you.

Against my better judgement, I weighed again this morning and the scales have moved. Only another 1lb down but at least it's a loss. That takes me below the next stone down barrier and 3lbs to go to the Magic first stone. Have a couple of nights away with DH coming up where we'll be eating out and having a few drinks. I'll have to do some serious damage limitation before and after to kee to my target of a stone off by the end of January.

Next step...exercise

HairsprayQueen · 21/01/2017 14:29

Well done all you losers, you are doing great!

I've logged all my foods for today, just to test where I'm at without trying to cut back etc. It doesn't feel like I've gone mad but I've have used all my daily allowance and my weeklies in one day. That'll be why I'm fat then!

Admittedly a lot of that is wine which is the main thing I know I've got to get sorted.
