Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Morning! Nice to see everyone posting and that the thread is busy. I really do love the support here and to read how everyone is getting on.

I killed it in the gym yesterday. Put my headphones on, got my stomp on on the treadmill, did a couple circuits of arm and core weights and feel a bit creaky and sore today. Good sore though iykwim.
First day semi-fasting today. No gym, as otherwise I'd be hellish this afternoon, a nice long dog walk instead I think. I was reading something the other day about only eating fruit in the morning as it stimulates your metabolism and cleanses out your system, anyone else read something similar?

MirabelleTree · 17/01/2017 11:44

Morning all, great to see more people on board. I have just done a tiny bit of jogging. I made sure no one was around, clung on to my boobs to prevent damage and did 3 x 30 seconds and 1 x 60 seconds. Then I realised I was in my wellies plus if I keeled over over in the woods it might be ages till anyone found me and my few minutes of madness were over.

The dog keeps looking at me as if to say 'Ffs what has got into you, I'm 7, I only usually go round the field ' and I had to wait for her to catch up at the end of the walk.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 17/01/2017 12:08

sayraa that's what in doing, reduced carb high healthy far and higher protein.

Thanks notanurse I usually have a good first week then a terrible second week even though I've done the same thing second week, so I'm mentally trying to allow this week's good loss to cover the first 2 weeks, I usually get disheartened and give up, going to try really hard to get out of my negative pattern of behaviour.

Afternoon all.

Hi all, and an extra hi to our newbies too Smile

I'm afraid I disgraced myself yesterday Blush I was shattered after work, had two hyped up DCs, and a grumpy DH....so I bought pizza. Happiness restored, but oh god, never again - my stomach ballooned and I felt awful for hours afterwards. Not. Worth. It!

Definitely renewed my resolve to stay on the low carb track from now on! Hope you've all had a better start to the week than I have!

Rumtopf · 17/01/2017 21:40

Oh that's so easy to do NoTractors! Hope today has been better?

I've done my first fast day, although I've just checked and it was 650cals. Not feeling too bad tbh, I made a gorgeous veggie lasagne for dinner using thin slices of butternut squash instead of pasta sheets. Might go to bed in a mo though as I'm getting peckish.

SpornStar · 17/01/2017 21:52

Just checking in to see how everyone is getting on. Some really encouraging results! Well done losers! Grin

Welcome to the newbies. You're amongst friends here. We've all got a long road to travel so the more, the merrier for the journey.

HairsprayQueen, are you me? I identify with every word of your post. That's what I love about this thread...people who feel like me and that I can truly identify with. We can do this Smile

Forgot to say...

Anyone else suffering with headaches? I think I may be suffering from sugar withdrawal. My body doesn't know what's hit it. It's been existing on a constant supply of sugar for so long. I'm actually doing really well and not even craving sweet stuff but something is giving me a mega headache.

Lumberries · 18/01/2017 09:25

SpornStar what kind of diet are you following? I may be able to pin point the problem for you :)

Morning everyone, just checking in. I lost 1lb at weigh in this week :) So a total of 4lbs in 2 weeks so:

Start weight: 18st 5lbs
Current Weight: 18st 1lb
Goal Weight: 10st 1lb
Total Loss: 4lbs

I was disappointed initially, but then I realised if I lost at a rate of 2lbs a week from now, I'd hit my goal on Jan 18th 2018, a whole 2 months and 27 days before my wedding in April 2018.

Motivational maths is a thing. Grin

BreakingSad · 18/01/2017 13:33

I found an old journal type book at the back of a drawer, that I've been recording my weight and measurements in for over twenty years, on and off (I did take my measurements today and lost some inches from when I measured back in June last year...yay).

But If only I could go back and talk to my 11st 9lbs twenty four year old selfGrin

honeysucklejasmine · 18/01/2017 13:41

Excellent thinking Lum! (Also, I read your platelets thread the other day - huge congratulations, what an amazing thing to do)

Went to pizza express with my mum yesterday. Had one of their salads. Certainly wasn't syn free but I left off the dressing which should save a few. As it happens, we were also having warn salad for tea. Managed to make yesterday an SP day which should have helped reduce the impact of a meal out.

We're going out for dinner again on Saturday, with my local "baby friends" and their partners. I will aim to choose pasta or something similar, and not the burger and chips I want! 😂

This week I haven't gained any weight. Usually I go up a few by midweek and down again by weigh day, but this week I am actually 1/2lb down from Saturday so hoping for a good loss this week. I am starting to be able to see a difference in the mirror which is good too.

Also, my BMI is now 39! 😃 It was 41 when I got pregnant in Summer 2015 and went up to 42 after birth, so really pleased it's down under 40 again.

Lumberries · 18/01/2017 14:11

THanks honey. A bit of a friendly nudge: stop weighing yourself daily, your weight is going to fluctuate all over the place and wont bare any relation to what you've eaten etc that day so just judge your success on your average loss over time, not the daily reading :)

I'm having a bit of a wobble today, need some reassurance that my current diet is healthy and I*@m* not missing any giant nutritional stuff. I've just posted a thread about it but can any of you guys help?

This is my diet at the moment, am I missing anything?

I'm doing weight watchers but I want to make sure my overall diet is healthy so I'm avoiding processed stuff and added sugar wherever I can.

Specific things I'm concerned about:
Am I eating too much fruit?
Is there enough protein?
Am I getting enough veg?

Breakfasts:
Porridge made with semi-skimmed milk (1 sachet of quaker super grain stuff)
As above but with a banana/ strawberries maybe twice a week
Half a wholewheat bagel, an egg and 1tsp tomato ketchup (reduced sugar version)

Lunch:
Salad. This week it's 25g full fat goats cheese, pomegranate seeds, beetroot, salad leaves, chopped mint and chopped parsley then 40g giant cous cous. I have this with balsamic vinigar and 1/2 tbsp olive oil as dressing.

Last week it was the same dressing but the salad was half an avacado and 1 rasher of bacon.

Dinner:
Roast meat with 2-3 veg, potatoes gravy. Roast pots and parsnips done in the acti-fry.
Chilli and rice (60g dry weight of rice)
Spag Bol (60g dry weight of pasta)
Fish (once a week) usually breadcrumbed white fish (hake, cod, coli etc) with actifry chips and peas or salmon fillet with rice and veg
Stir fry (chicken or prawn) with a packet sauce, usually teriyaki or something and egg noodles
Pork chops, 2 veggies and potato
Same as above but chicken breast

Snacks:
Usually 2 pieces of fruit, so an apple and an orange around lunch time
100cal popcorn (1.2g sugar per portion)
If I have smart points left at the end of the day I'll have a glass of wine, I've also had ben and jerry's icecream (weighed out!) and weighed out some chocolate too.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 18/01/2017 17:48

Sporn - can't remember what plan you're following, but I got crashing headaches for the first week when starting low carb. As strange as it sounds, having some bullion in a mug really helped. That, and making sure I was getting enough water. Maybe go get checked out if it's been a while though?

Lum - I can't really comment on what you're doing in the context of Weightwatchers, as it's something I've never done, but that seems ok to me. I'd probably swap some of the fruit for some veg (like chopped peppers or something) but then again, I'm not a massive fruit fan (LOVE my veg). I'm taking a multi-vit too, just in case I'm missing something.

I'm firmly back on the low-carb wagon now after my detour the other night - asian cabbage stir-fry tonight. It doesn't sound great, but it's my new favourite, very tasty! Smile

SpornStar · 18/01/2017 18:38

Lumberries and NoTractors, I'm not doing any specific plan. I'm just counting calories and haven't cut out anything but am eating far less carbs and sugar.

Headache only started a couple of days ago and is still there today but it's low grade now, not nearly as bad as yesterday thankfully. I always drink plenty of water so don't think it's dehydration.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 18/01/2017 18:59

Glad it's fading Sporn - maybe try some boulion if you fancy it, it did help shift mine. That's good you're up on your water - I keep thinking if I pee enough, I'm bound to either 1) pee out the fat, or 2) burn calories by constantly hopping up and down to the loo. Very scientific Grin

Rumtopf · 18/01/2017 19:36

Spoon, maybe try a cup of bovril or marmite?

Lumberries that sounds a bit too carb heavy for me. Are you on weight watchers and pointing everything you eat? If you're within your points then it sounds fine and balanced, but I'd personally swap out quite a lot of the carbs for veg and salad.

I've been a bit dizzy on and off today, after I fasted yesterday I was starving this morning so had a bowl of porridge and then a big omelette with salad for lunch but I'm just not hungry this evening at all. So much so I sat with dh and dd and had no dinner at all, just a cup of green tea. Most strange!

belu1 · 19/01/2017 07:48

starting weight 248lb
weight today 241.2
total weight loss since 1st jan 6.8lb

SayrraT · 19/01/2017 08:08

I survived a trip to Costco where OH was putting some horrible carby sugary stuff in the trolley!

We also had some food there, he had two slices of pizza and I had two hotdogs without the rolls Grin

I think I've reached the point in LCing when I can actually easily avoid carbs because I don't want them anymore. I've also lost another pound Smile

It's my 30th birthday on Saturday and I've decided that on my actual birthday I'll eat whatever I fancy (my mum is baking a cake) but I won't eat it otherwise. I'm meeting friends for lunch and I've already told them I don't want cake, I'm taking dark chocolate lindt balls (4g carbs each). I can happily eat one and leave the rest.

Rumtopf it can be very strange to not feel hungry can't it?!

honeysucklejasmine · 19/01/2017 08:36

Ha ha Lum, reading your comment whilst berating myself as I am up 1.5lbs on yesterday... Blush

Lumberries · 19/01/2017 09:13

Rumtopf ok thanks, I'm not low carbing and I'm well within my points :)

ReggaeShark · 19/01/2017 13:02

Sayrra "Dark chocolate Lindt balls"? Where? Where?

ReggaeShark · 19/01/2017 13:04

Sporn you may need salt. So add more to your food or drink the bouillon type things suggested. I've seen this written a few times about low carbing.
