Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Sarky don't feel that way - even meeting with the bariatric surgeon is a positive step.

I am also feeling a bit crap too. I seem to be gaining and losing the same few pounds again and again. So I will lose 2lbs, during the week gain them back again, and then manage to lose 2.5lbs, so I end the week with only 0.5lbs off. It's so annoying, as my potential 2.5lb loss is wasted. I don't know why it happens - it is so annoying!

BreakingSad · 12/01/2017 09:42

Sarky like Honey said, you've taken a positive step to deal with it, please don't feel like that.

Honey I could've written that, I do exactly the same. I lost 2 lbs last week and blew it at the weekend (my downfall) I'm always playing catch up. I do carry on though, I have bad days, but not as many as when I started over 3 months ago, so I'm heading in the right direction.

Endurance, as somebody said up thread is key.

It's taken 3 months to get the appointment and then I am likely to have to go through a 6 month monitoring period (possibly 12 months) where I have to keep losing weight by myself. Only then do I find out if they will approve the surgery. It just seems like it's going to go on forever. I'm going to have to be super strong that's for sure.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 12/01/2017 16:03

Hunting someone I work with works in the weight management service here. I had a chat with him earlier and he gave me a leaflet to have a think about.

I don't think weight loss surgery would work for me as I'm an emotional/comfort eater.
They do CBT/counselling as well as the diet stuff though. You get that whether you opt for surgery or not here but yes it's 12 months minimum before they'll consider it here.

I'm having a bad day, had a big cry earlier. I'm just so tired of it all being an issue. I wish food was just food to me and I could eat normally like other people Sad

SpornStar · 12/01/2017 18:41

sarky, you have my admiration as I'm not brave enough for the surgery.

notanurse, I weighed in this morning and I have lost another 2 lbs. That's 9lbs in 9 days so I'm really pleased with that as a start. Hoping to hit the stone mark by the end of the month and only need another 2lbs to get me into the next stone down zone.

I'm totally ravenous right now and trying hard to resist the urge to snack as I'll be having dinner later. I need a strategy to get me through these stages.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/01/2017 19:03

Wow, well done Sporn!!

I was (well, am) guilty for the post-work-pre-dinner fridge raid. Bag down, coat off, fridge open Blush Since the start of the month, I've tried to mix it up a bit, by getting changed and going straight to the sofa. If I can get past the initial 'oh god I'm starving' 10 minutes, I seem to be better at going into the kitchen after that.

I've avoided the scales so far this week, but hoping for good news on Saturday - if it's 2lbs again, I'll be happy. If it's more, I'll be Grin Grin

Hope you're all having a good week

SpornStar · 12/01/2017 21:45

Thanks NoTractors. I have a LOT to lose and I know from experience that I can have big losses in the early stages.

Glad I'm not alone in being attracted to the fridge on arrival home from work. Some days I would graze from getting in until dinner...and then eat dinner too. It's really no wonder I'm fat! Blush. I did succumb to a couple of Rich Tea biscuits and a small handful of nuts but I logged them all on MFP and have still stayed under my calorie allowance.

Next step is to add some exercise. I could weep when I think how fit I was before DD came along. I was still overweight but I was in the gym 4 times a week and I was fit and strong. Getting anywhere near that again seems like an impossibility Sad

belu1 · 13/01/2017 00:44

April 2016 266lbs
December 2016 241lbs
Followed by 7lb increase because of christmas gluttony
Plan is to lose at least 1lb a week (I'm not being very ambitious as I've failed too often in the past).
Target to get below 200 lbs losing 49lbs at 1-1/2lb a week
Starting weight 248lbs (beginning of Jan 2017)
week 1 05/01 246.6 - 1.4 loss this week
week 2 12/01 244 - 2.6 loss this week

MirabelleTree · 13/01/2017 07:01

My tip for pre dinner hunger is cup of tea/herbal tea and cherry tomatoes or rice cakes.

1lb off for me today on week 9 which I'm pleased with as period just started. Total loss 20.5lbs, 79.5lbs to go.

NorfolkEnchance · 13/01/2017 08:29

Weighed in a day early as I am out with DH tonight for the first time since DC2 was born (over a year ago) and part of it is a three course meal.

To Lose - 91lb
Lost so far - 5lb
Left to lose - 86lb
Lost this week - 5lb

Mini target - 14lb off by valentines day

Well done to everyone who has lost so far :)

stumblymonkey · 13/01/2017 08:52

Hello all....been a bit lax at checking in. Latest stats are:

SW: 18st 1lbs
This week so far: 3lbs
Total lost: 5lbs
Current weight: 17st 10lbs

Quite pleased as I am concentrating on small changes so haven't flipped straight into trying to eat 'perfectly' as that triggers my binge eating. Have been having plenty to eat and lots of snacks that I enjoy but just slightly different things.

I highly recommend caramel flavoured rice crackers, taste quite like popcorn and only 90 cals. Can really take the edge of sweet cravings with a cup of tea.

stumblymonkey · 13/01/2017 08:54

And these are pics from the app I use to track my weight loss (called Monitor My Weight) which I find really useful...

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 13/01/2017 10:33

Stumblymonkey thank you for posting the name of that app, I've just downloaded itSmile

FizzPopping · 13/01/2017 10:49

Thanks stumblymonkey that app looks really good, off to download.

First weigh in tomorrow, I've had a good week sticking to low sugar and carbs so hoping for a decent result

Rumtopf · 13/01/2017 12:38

Everyone seems to be doing really well! All positive steps in the right direction which is wonderful.
I'm 2 days into my 4 day stint of going out (never normally out this much!) so thought I'd weigh in today as Friday's are easier for me.

Target: 104 lbs
Lost so far: 5lbs
Lost this week: 3 lbs
Total lost: 8 lbs
Still to lose: 96 lbs

Back to the gym next week too as well as swimming one evening with my friend.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/01/2017 14:20

Another app downloaded here too (I'm such a sheep, but I love an app!)

I was tempted to weigh in today, but going to be good and leave it until tomorrow, or I'd run the risk of just saying 'fuck it' and going off course if I didn't like the answer! I know I won't see any huge losses from week to week but I'm aiming for consistent losses - yes to endurance!

I'm officially useless at the cross-trainer - I can do 7 minutes without needing to stop Blush but I'm going to build up from there. It does feel good once I'm done, and no stress on my knees, so I think it's a good thing to keep going Smile

Food-wise, I'm doing really well - I find low carb is easy to stick to. I feel like my nutrition levels are improving, so I've got a bit more bounce about me Grin.

DCs aren't thrilled with the increase in green veg on their plates, but they still get an odd treat - I'm so paranoid I'm going to mess up their eating habits (if I haven't already), but touch wood, they seem to be ok, and both spot on for their heights, which is a relief.

Apologies for the essay - just needed to get it all down! Hope you all have a happy Friday Smile

SpornStar · 13/01/2017 19:01

Ooh, an app! Thanks for that, stumbly.

I had some sort of brain fart and weighed yesterday because I thought it was Friday instead of today. D'oh! Friday should be my regular weigh in day so I weighed again this morning in the interests of accuracy and consistency. Another 1lb down - 10lbs in total.

Name: SpornStar
To lose: 140lbs
Lost to date: 10lbs
Still to lose: 130lbs

Worried about tonight as DH is out and that's when I'm most at risk of a binge. There's still lots of chocolate and lovely stuff in the house from Christmas. I'm planning to have some cheese on toast (I've been craving it for days!) and 2 chocolates from the posh box DH bought me. I've calculated it on MFP and I should still be under my daily calorie limit. Just hoping I have the strength to stop there.

SpornStar · 13/01/2017 19:05

NoTractors, that's a good start on the cross trainer. I used to find it helpful to make a playlist of upbeat music and each time I exercised, I'd aim to do it for one song longer each time. When I went to the gym, I'd time it for when there was something good on telly and then pick a bike, treadmill or cross trainer by the TV screens and distract myself from the tedium of exercise with Coronation Street or whatever.

DoubleGin · 14/01/2017 08:11

+1lb really pissed off.

MirabelleTree · 14/01/2017 08:35

Really frustrating DoubleGin, is is your period that's done it ?

DoubleGin · 14/01/2017 09:05

I'm not sure I finished a few days a go so thought it would be fine, I've been out for long walks etc. It's either that or i got the wrong pair of scales at mums as there is a broken pair, but +1 doesn't seem that unbelieveable 😰 Logging absolutely everything I eat this week and limiting to 1200 cals on non fast days xx

DoubleGin · 14/01/2017 09:05

I don't know why I put kisses haha

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/01/2017 11:08

I'm down 3lbs - happy with that

To lose: 124 lbs
Lost to date: 17 lbs
Left to lose: 107 lbs
Lost this week: 3lbs

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 14/01/2017 11:11

Posted too soon! Blush Thanks for the advice Sporn!

That sucks Gin - it might just be a bit of an anomaly, maybe try again tomorrow morning (post-wee!)? Bodies are strange, and weight loss doesn't seem to happen linearly (is that a word? In a straight line, anyway!)
