Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Well done everyone, you are all so encouraging.

I had a terrible weekend, where I managed to shut down the voice in my head that knew it was wrong and went all out (leftover xmas chocolates, biscuits and wine).
I thought I'd share as I wanted to be honest and on Monday I picked myself up and got back on with it. My saviour is my exercise bike, that without it, I'd be even worse.

Rumtopf · 10/01/2017 10:14

Morning everyone.
My chocolate cravings were so bad last night I updated mfp with my food intake from the day and discovered I actually had enough calories left over to have a glass of chocolate almond milk and some (6) choc orange matchmakers. So I actively made the choice to have a treat instead of allowing it to overwhelm me and "give in". If that makes sense?

I'm out for dinner with friends on Wednesday, out for dinner with another group of friends on Thursday and date night with dh on Friday! Eek. Poor old dog won't know what's going on he'll be getting so many walks Grin

MirabelleTree · 10/01/2017 12:32

Great result Notanurse
Breakingsad , you drew a line and got in with it again . Would have been so easy to say you'd failed and can't do it.

Rumtopf that is exactly what I do. This week I have bad PMT so plan is to keep exercise levels as high as I can, then when the cravings start if I feel I want something I'm going to have it and then another if it fits my allowance and I feel the need. I really want to avoid the on diet/off diet mentality I've had before so nothing is banned. I am trying to distract myself from the cravings wherever possible but feel for this to work I need to be able to fit it round difficult weeks and meals out.

I was quite surprised how easy it was when we did London day trip and ate out twice, carefully scanning of Nutracheck before we reached the restaurant helped a lot. DH did his afterwards and went a bit pale when lunch turned out to be 1300.

My dog has been very quiet in the house the last 8 weeks, loves the walks!

Lumberries · 10/01/2017 15:04

I RAN LAST NIGHT!!!!

WHOOP!

I completed the first "run" of the Zombie Run couch to 5k program. 15 sec run, 1 min rest repeated 10 times then a free run at the end which is basically run as long as you can as fast as you can and walk in between.

LOVED it.

MirabelleTree · 10/01/2017 15:06

OMG Lumbered, a huge well done Grin.

MirabelleTree · 10/01/2017 15:07

That was sodding autocorrect, apologies - Lumberries

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 10/01/2017 18:41

Wow, Lum - that's amazing, well done! I don't think I could even run for 15 secs at the moment, but sounds like something for me to aspire to!

Had a good few days and feeling really good today, and really positive in general. Jeans are definitely feeling looser - I might have to get a belt! Grin

Hope everyone has had a good day, and if you're lurking, or feel a bit Blush as you've fallen off the wagon, keep going - at the risk of sounding like a cheesy as fuck motivational speaker, we really can do this Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 10/01/2017 20:38

There is now a cross-trainer in my box room - gulp!

Had a wee go already - I think if I can build up to 30 mins, I'll get a good workout. Going to try to do 15 mins every other day, and once I've done that for a week, I'll add on a minute or two each time after that. That sounds achievable. Really have no excuse now to get my arse in gear!

SilkThreads · 10/01/2017 21:22

well, I went to weight loss clinic today and discovered:
I started at 20st
I am now 18.5 stone
So, I am pleased.
catsbumface nhs person simply said: well, you have to keep it off to count
well, yes.... grrr

SilkThreads · 10/01/2017 21:29

so in pounds: 280lbs down to 260lbs (I think!)

so, to get to 11st (which would do but 10 would be better) I need to lose:
100lbs but 125lbs is my real target

Lumberries · 11/01/2017 10:00

Just checking in mid-week :)

Off to the gym tonight and DP is joining me Shock!

DP currently weighs 18st 10lbs and lost 2lbs this week just eating evening meals with me, so it's spurred him on and he wants to start trying too :) If he got down to 15st, he'd be ecstatic so I think he's aiming for that.

Tonight I'm going to do my second Zombie run (30 mins) and probably do 20-30 mins weights with DP.

Food so far this week has been good. I had a kinder chocolate snack bar yesterday (all within points allowance) and I was craving junk food horrendously on my way home, I think as a result of the sugar. I managed to resist the temptation to stop off at a petrol station and grab something though and made it home unscathed!

It's highlighted to me though that keeping sugar levels stable is a huge deal for me. If I spike them with chocolate or something really high sugar it totally messes up my appetite and I turn into a junk food craving loon. Fruit doesnt seem to have this effect, but a small kinder chocolate bar does!

Odd.

Lumberries · 11/01/2017 10:11

Just realised I never introduced myself properly! Blush

Name: Lumberries (Lum)
Start Weight: 18st 5lbs
Current Weight: 18st 2lbs
Goal Weight: 10st 5lbs
Total Loss: 3lbs
Start date: 2/1/2018
Wedding Day (goal day): 14/4/2018! Shock

Reasons: I want to start my married life healthy for the DP I adore and the children I aspire to have in the next few years :) I've been clinically obese all my life and as an adult, I've never weighed less than 15 stone. I have no idea what I look like/ feel like at a healthy weight and I'd like to experience that.

Rumtopf · 11/01/2017 12:48

Lumberries well done on the running! I've downloaded the c25k app on my phone and will be back in the gym next week too. Your goal is a really exciting one.

Silkthreads your NHS person sounds like a bit of an idiot. That was mean spirited. You've done well so far, ignore them!

notractors good luck on the cross trainer, it's hard work but you can definitely feel the difference.

mirabelle hope the pmt has subsided now. Re checking the cals on a meal when out, I've just looked at the menu's and already chosen for the next two evenings! Saves me making a silly choice.

I had a sneaky peek at the scales this morning and I've lost another 3lb but I'm waiting til Saturday morning to see if I keep it off! I feel really positive and in the right frame of mind for this. Did my measurements as well yesterday and will take them again around April I think to see the difference.

MirabelleTree · 11/01/2017 14:29

That sounds very hopeful Lumberries. DH is losing weight with me but only needed to do 1.5 stone. DD is at home currently cooking SW chicken korma for tea and joining in with me prancing round the kitchen to music to get steps in.

WhereHaveYouGinAllMyLife · 11/01/2017 18:22

Argh! I'm still on it, I broke my fecking hand last week so stayed at my mums with the kids for a few days and was cooked lots of lovely calorie laden food. So now I am back home and have ordered lots of ready chopped veg and easy to cook stuff so I can get back on track, so no weight update yet, I am going to wait another week I think but my jeans are already feeling less snug Smile

SpornStar · 11/01/2017 19:28

It's so great to check in and see some great losses. Well done!

Bad news about the hand, WhereHaveYouGin. Hope it gets better soon.

I have just done my first full week without a binge in about as long as I came remember (at least 5 years). That feels like something worth celebrating in itself. I'll be weighing in tomorrow morning so hopefully that'll be something else to celebrate.

Good luck everyone!

BreakingSad · 11/01/2017 20:18

You all have given me lots of motivation this week, I've been trying to boost my exercise by trying to hit 10,000 steps. But does marching on the spot count?

SpornStar · 11/01/2017 20:56

I'm sure it must do, Breaking. Any movement has got to be a good thing

MirabelleTree · 11/01/2017 21:26

Yes it bloody does count Grin Have a look at this 5 minute cheesy Leslie Sansone video hblog.myfitnesspal.com/fast-easy-5-minute-walking-workout-video/

And here's a 15 minute 1 mile one m.youtube.com/watch?v=KCe3ZS7pAC4

BreakingSad · 11/01/2017 23:01

Phew, I wasn't going to hit the target otherwise. Just trying to utilise my time, while waiting for the kettle to boil . Thanks for the links, gives me some more moves to rock Grin

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 11/01/2017 23:06

I need to lose 150lbs. Got an appointment with a bariatric consultant on 30 Jan to start process off in hopes of getting a gastric band fitted on the NHS.

I'm 45 but I feel 75. Lost weight so many times and put it all back on again plus more. I hate myself.
