Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Well done Lumberries, hoping you have many more blue dots!

Icantthink instead of turning them down what about asking him to put the Prosecco away to toast your first stone loss in a few weeks. Have a slice of birthday cake on Monday using your sysns, then eek the box of chocolates out over the next couple of weeks, asking DP to put them somewhere and bring you one or two at a time using syns? Otherwise there is a risk you could feel really deprived and it makes it harder to stick to.

Great start Eatingtoomuch, that's quarter of a stone gone.

Good luck Norfolk. I'm calorie counting too and finding it works well for me. I use a Fitbit to measure my calorie expenditure so I can balance the two and will have a higher calorie day if needs be e.g. Christmas Day was just over 3k calories but I went for a long walk so only overrate by about 350 calories which I sorted the next day where I ate 350 calls less than I burnt off so over the two days in and out balanced and eating less the other 5 days resulted in a 1.5lb loss. It is a flexible method and means I don't really feel like I'm dieting.

Great loss *Laselva, that's 5% of the way done this week.

Laselva · 08/01/2017 09:01

I've just taken my measurements, wasn't brace enough to do it last week, but posts on here have spurred me on. Pretty depressing but I know from the past I have lost in measurements even when weight loss stalls, so hope it can spur me on. I'm apple shaped so it's pretty depressing finding out my waist is almost double what it should be, but I'm not sticking my head in the sand any more.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 08/01/2017 09:33

Well done Laselva and to everyone else attempting to lose 100lbs or more irrespective of where they are on their weight loss 'journey'.

Apologies to anyone who is irked by the word journey out of context.

Well I did grasp the nettle, take the bull by the horns and any other euphemism for 'GET ON WITH IT'.

I was weighed by the nurse at my Dr's surgery a couple of weeks ago and I took a note of my weight, it was in kilos which was unusual for a British weigh in. Anyway, I used an NHS website to calculate my BMI Blush

It's the sort of BMI that will put me in a coffin if I don't sort myself out.

I also calculated my weight in stones Blush Blush

Oh I'm the fattest/heaviest I've ever been. After how many diets ? How many gazillions of calories burned during various exercise stints ?

Nah, it's the endless comfort eating and the urge to finish the packet when I'm not 'comfort eating' that's sent my weight soaring.

I will make another Dr's appointment on an unrelated matter next week. Whilst there I will ask for a wee look at my weight on the scales at the Dr's. Straight from the horses' mouth so to speak. That will be my post-Christmas weigh in. As in, 'what's the damage chief ?'

ToEarlyForDecorations · 08/01/2017 09:35

To be clear I am 5' 3" tall and weigh 18 and a half stones.

ChestyNutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 08/01/2017 10:48

4lbs off Smile

Haven't been as strict as I was intending so very happy!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 08/01/2017 10:54

Everyone is make such positive steps, I'm finding it really encouraging!

I'm off to do the weekly food shop - all meals are planned... but I'm hungry which would usually mean I'd struggle with impulse buys. However, I'm going to keep diligently to my list. I've written it in the order that I visit the aisles - the good thing with low carb is that I visit the fresh produce aisles and the dairy one, and not too much else. Wish me luck!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 08/01/2017 14:39

...I survived, and the budget did too! I was far quicker than normal, and have only had the odd moan from the DCs and DH about the lack of crisps in the house. The fridge looks so nice and because I've only bought according to the meal plan, none of it will go to waste Grin

Hope you're all having successful days!

MirabelleTree · 08/01/2017 15:00

I had a very sedentary day up until about an hour ago and had only clocked up about 500 steps as was feeling a bit rough and DD had stomach cramps. But I dragged myself up and have been marching in the kitchen.

Had some issues with Alexa finding me some fast paced music and near,y fired her but I had the idea of Wham so marched in memory of George.

hefzi · 08/01/2017 15:43

Just popping in for a wave- well done everyone who's lost this week, and well done everyone who hasn't for still keeping on. And a huge thank you to whoever posted the Curvy Yoga link - finally a YouTube work out I can actually manage!

I start in earnest tomorrow, as I'm back to normal workwise - out of the house 14+ hours, so a litmus test for sustainable changes. But I managed a very healthy weekly shop in the week, having decided to start off with SW - small wins. However, my period, which has been totally unpredictable since stopping with the pill in the autumn, has arrived with devastating force... My (very small) goals for tomorrow are to take the bus back and forth to work (requires about a mile and a half of extra walking) and to eat both breakfast and lunch. (Usually only eat after work, and then don't stop until I go to sleep Blush)

Hope everyone else has a good Monday!

Rumtopf · 08/01/2017 19:51

Some great losses, well done everyone.
Good point about measuring, I'd forgotten to do that.

I've menu planned for the week but what I'm finding tricky is that while dh was on board with me all week he's bloody mainlining cookies and crisps all weekend.

WinkinBlinkinandNod · 08/01/2017 19:55

I have had to NC as my nickname was a bit of a give away.

Can I ask what scales you would recommend? For me, not food.

Has anyone ever used the Tesco scales? The ones in store that give a print-out. I am thinking this might be the way to go for me as I have been known to weigh my self daily. If I am doing it in public and paying for the privilege I may be able to curb that desire.

Lumberries · 08/01/2017 21:51

WinkinBlinkinandNod I used Tesco scales before I went back to weight watchers meetings, they cost 50p and are great :) it stopped me weighing myself daily!

Lumberries · 08/01/2017 22:01

Checking in :)

It's the night before weigh in for me and I would like to wave my pom-poms and tell you that for the first time ever, this weekend I didn't binge ONCE.

Ended up in KFC today while we were out and about, but I quickly used the WW app to point up what I'd usually have and it came to 58sps Shock I only get 41 a day!

So instead I had a rice box for 14sps and it was actually really quite nice!

I was hungry at 5 though (ate at 1) and was craving like mad for sugar and fat (doughnuts!) but I managed to get through that by having lychees (I adore them) and held out until dinner.

This evening I boxed up my salads for the week and I have bulgur wheat instead of cous cous:

Bacon and avacado
Smoked salmon and avacado
Olive and sundried tomato
Goats cheese and beetroot.

The big test will be Thursday when I have to go to London for the day for work. I plan to take lunch with me and avoid train food like the plague!

As mentioned it's weigh in tomorrow night and after I'll be going to the gym which I'm a bit frightened of to be honest. Feet first and jump in though eh? You don't lose 8 stone in a year by being frightened so I best pull myself together!

Confused

SpornStar · 09/01/2017 08:29

I'm not supposed to weigh in until a Friday which will be my regular day. Only been back in the diet zone since last Wednesday and have been really focussed so I had a sneaky weigh in this morning just to see if I'd lost anything and if I'm on the right track. Was hoping for 2-3lbs maybe but the scales said.....

7lbs! Half a stone already. Now, my period started shortly after first weigh in so some of my starting weight was probably water weight but I'm taking it as a win and am really motivated to stay on it.

Some great results there, well done!

I spent fair bit of time yesterday in the kitchen, prepped some healthy dinners and salads for the next few days. Feels good to be organised again.

Also starting a recipes list so I don't get stuck in a rut, aiming to try at least one new recipe a week

MirabelleTree · 09/01/2017 10:28

These are great, well done to everyone .

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 09/01/2017 10:53

Ok, so I've weighed in this morning and weigh 251lbs

I dislike breakfast, prefer more of a brunch style breakup, this is what I had.

Name Minnie
Age 35
To lose 101
Lost 0
Lost this week 0
Total lost 0
Left to lose 101

I really need to do this now, I've put on 1 1/2 - 2 stone in the last few months of the year, I'm always either trying to lose weight or binging on everything I love to eat, I don't seem to have any middle ground.

Well done to everyone else.

Wow, well done everyone! Amazing losses!

Just been to weigh in, I lost 3lbs :)

Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?
Rumtopf · 09/01/2017 19:50

Well done!

I am having serious chocolate cravings. Haven't had any since new year and tonight it's just about all I fancy. Arghh.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 09/01/2017 20:10

Well done Lum, and stay strong Rum! Grin

I've had a massive frittata for dinner, and feeling good. Not sure if it's the low-carbing or the Dry January, but I'm going to keep it going for as long as I possibly can!

DH has been offered a cross-trainer from someone he works with, so I'm excited about the prospect of that - if I can find the time. It just seems a constant juggling act between work, DCs, housework, homework, cooking...it never ends!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 09/01/2017 20:36

lumberries are you using a app that tell you what the weight you've lost = ?
It looks good.

Lumberries · 09/01/2017 21:24

It's a website :) URL is on the screenshot :)
