Happy Advent!

Here's the link to the November thread where we cheered each other on to be MoSlender

Now we slide frostily into Christmas with the hope of losing more (or at least not losing our grip completely)

Would it negate the point of a fast if I were to save up all 500 of my calories for the day and use them on a cheese toastie?

Mummyreindeerlegz · 16/12/2016 10:50

NAH, a calorie is a calorie. If you can survive till then!

QuimReaper · 16/12/2016 10:50

BOOP Sad so sorry about your post-golden Linda, I hate hate HATE that feeling, you know it's happened to me a couple of times! I think sometimes golden days, particularly ones that involve exercise, can send the body into a bit of a tailspin and it takes a bit of time for it all to stop running around in circles going "aaargh!"

Spurious I must say you are quite the masochist for weighing yourself after a big night out - definitely pretend you haven't seen it, it's not real! It's an illuuuuuussiooooon

Well bloody done Archduke! Grin

HairsprayBabe · 16/12/2016 10:52

Spuriouser Quite possibly, I have a feeling that 5:2 fast days are supposed to be low carb, but I have never done the diet so don't know!

How about a small bowl of melted cheese and some veg sticks to dip in it?

Thats just as good right?

QuimReaper · 16/12/2016 10:54

Lorelei you cannot possibly possibly be that person with all the Christmas goodies lying around can you?

I think in the New Year, trying a couple of fast days might kickstart you, if you can handle it.

Spurious of course not, you can do it however you like! If anything, lots of people say a long total-fasting period is the most effective strategy. As Mummy says though, it'll defeat the point if we have to carry you back into the thread on a stretcher, having either fainted from hunger or lost all control, attacked a twelve-foot display of Celebrations tins in Tesco and put yourself in a sugar coma Wink

QuimReaper · 16/12/2016 10:56

Hairspray I think most people just do them low-carb because a) carbs are so calorific compared with lean protein, veg etc. that you don't get your money's worth and b) they don't fill you up, so by 3pm whenever anyone tries to talk to you they just turn into a giant Rotisserie Chicken before your eyes and you just stare blankly at them not hearing a word.

Lorelei76 · 16/12/2016 11:02

Quim, I don't really do Xmas. Food people give me before gets taken to the office.
I have sone After Eights here because I liked the London skyline tin! Shame it's got the logo so big but still nice.
I have really bad SAD so I think one issue is i eat bigger portions because my body signals are all wrong?

HairsprayBabe · 16/12/2016 11:15

Flowers Lorelei It hits my grandmother terribly, she spends all of winter after Christmas with her brother in florida now lucky git Have you tried one of those lamp thingys?

If your issue is portion size could you try a smaller plate or bowl for food? it sounds stupid but I got a new dinner service with smaller plates recently and the amount I portion up has dropped dramatically.

It is "party day" at my work on Monday - no I do not work in a school or nursery - there is going to be sooooo much food I really need a golden weekend so I can not feel too guilty about eating alllll the samosas!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 16/12/2016 11:26

Quim I think the latter is more likely!

Maybe I should try to be a bit more sensible and go for something other than a cheese toastie. I do want to do this fast day though because otherwise I will be too tempted to say "sod it" and give up all semblance of self control entirely, and then come January I will have to be rolled back to the thread.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 16/12/2016 11:28

Some sort of cheese dip with veggies might be a good idea actually, thanks Hairspray

Lorelei76 · 16/12/2016 12:10

Lamps don't help much
I dont find plate size makes any difference.

Anyway, I've got to get this bleeping five pounds off so I can at least be back to where I was....i was thinking of trying a fast day tomorrow, not sure. I didn't get on well with 5:2 but perhaps the odd fast day is a good reset.

HairsprayBabe · 16/12/2016 12:27

Maybe a v small plate then, so you can only fit so much food on it, a saucer or a coaster Grin

You could do a week of skinny soups to give you a kickstart, or drop all refined carbs, it sounds awful but even if you just do it for a week or two I bet it will give you a boost.

But try a fast day, I often come in under 500 cal because I am lazy and in the week I only eat dinner, with the occasional small lunch. when it is warmer I have greek yog and berries but it is miserable this time of year and I want warm things so I swapped to broth which is only 4 cals a cup so essentially pointless, but it makes me feel all warm and satisfied!

I have no idea what we are having for dinner, my tummy says tacos but my brain says no!

QuimReaper · 16/12/2016 13:19

Quim's too sexy for the scales...well done!

Hairspray, sorry that happened.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 16/12/2016 15:35

I'm juuuuust clinging on to the edge of the Fast Day Cliff, trying not to drop off into Hangover Binge Valley.

Well done Quim! That's fab news Smile

Hairspray that's horrible, some people can be so nasty to people who are just trying to do their job.

QuimReaper · 16/12/2016 15:41

Everyone stop talking about chips Xmas Grin

Thank you all, lovely losers. Found the first WiFi spot I could to tell you all!

So sorry to hear that Hairspray - I used to do customer services in a call centre and I know how horrible it can feel when people get really mean and personal. Flowers

Mummyreindeerlegz · 16/12/2016 16:39

Woohooo quim!!!!

Bunnyjo · 16/12/2016 20:15

Woohoo, Quim! Bloody well done!

Archduke · 16/12/2016 23:11

Well done Quim that's fantastic.

Hairspray some people are such miserable bastards, I hope you've put him out of your mind.

I had dinner at a friends house last night - it was a bit of a reunion of ex-pat Poms and we all got utterly shitfaced. I feel like death warmed up this morning and can't even begin to think of all those stupid wine calories that are currently converting themselves to fat.

I was too hungover to contemplate Park Run this morning but am off now for a dreary walk with the dogs to collect my car and buy the host some flowers. Off later for a lunch will attempt to stay sober this time as need to run tomorrow.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/12/2016 23:37

If I were you, Archduke, I'd surrender now, have a great time and worry about stuff later

Thank you all so much for celebrating with me. It means to much Xmas Smile

Archie are you an Aussie? I do sympathise on the hangover, we'll all be there in the next couple of weeks!

KikisDeliveryService · 17/12/2016 08:54

Brilliant work quim, in December! Ridiculously impressive.

I teach martial arts to kids, they have expressed their love of the class and their instructors with mountains of chocolate. Best students ever. I have promised DC that I may share my haul. Unopened as yet...

I am just hanging out here on the thread at the moment, Linda's are firmly static right now with no effort on my part to change it. But in January, I will be back, hard.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/12/2016 09:04

Morning! Not feeling to see you Kiki

My sister is a teacher and gets piles of presents. Mainly chocolate.

I have lost 0.2 of a Linda. Hang out the bunting. Confused that makes me 3 down on the month
