Haha - I'd like baths freshly done hair! Well done on the run, I keep thinking I might like to run...then I don't 😉

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 02/02/2017 17:32

If there was ever a woman who needed a hair wash it's me. Oh dear lord I'm like Lego, the class was tough in strange ways. Suspension straps, cardio, abs, mental plank circuits and to end 50 squats, 20 push-ups, 12 explodes and 6 chest to floor burpees...x 3 rounds. Can I just say I cheated on the burpees, after my success the other day. I was like a upended turtle. But not as elegant. I will have a shower, when I manage to figure out how to get undressed. Can I have a medal pls? Or a safe place to lay down and die

MumBod · 02/02/2017 19:02

A much better day today! Used up loads of calories wheelbarrowing poo around my allotment, and have done nearly 17k steps rather than just squeaking 10k as usual!

Thoroughly enjoyed my chippy tea - I felt like I'd earned it!

Thanks all for the encouragement Smile

Not2bObvious · 02/02/2017 19:17

Well done mum👍 That's some number of steps, you earned your chippy and even better that you enjoyed it! I'd say you'll be stiff tomorrow after the gardening. I think I'm coming in around 1300 cals for today which is badly needed.

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 02/02/2017 19:39

Glad you enjoyed the chippy Mum. Pushing a wheelbarrow must be an excellent workout in itself.

Class sounded hard Not/Bath Grin He he. You won't collapse or die, but maybe try even a 20 minute gentle walk tomorrow to aid recovery and blood flow to the muscles if you can find the time.

JO Chicken Kiev was faffy but absolutely delicious, I will post a picture from my phone in a bit.

Needastrongone · 02/02/2017 19:39

As promised

Not2bObvious · 02/02/2017 19:45

Ooh that looks garlicky gorgeous need - I love chicken Kiev, anything with loads of garlic is a winner for me. I may do another class in the morning as I've started to love the Friday morning class but it depends on my knees...I sound like a crumbly, possibly cause I am! But yeah if I'm not up for that I'll need a walk to stretch everything out.

OP posts:
DawheadAwgusEeentock · 02/02/2017 20:32

Need that chicken kiev does look so delicious. All I can say re your DD is that to me, it sounds like you’re doing everything right. You’re a brilliant role model for her and the fact that she’s active at all is a great sign.

Not I was thinking about you in bed . I was worrying I overdid it with the attempted advice, but all I should have said was that I would hate to think you’re not happy with yourself or how you’re doing. Look at how much you’ve done already this week and you’ll be heading for the 10s in no time. And don’t you dare stop moaning on here - that’s what we’re here for Wink. Will shut up now.
Glad you got a bit of sleep and well done on the tough class! Can I give you Flowers in lieu of a medal Grin. That’s a brilliant cal total today too.

MumBod spending a day in an allotment sounds heavenly - and 17k steps is brilliant! Glad you enjoyed the tea Grin

Sesame thanks Grin I hope I can manage to stay here now Wink

Jonty gosh a HIIT workaround sounds v tough - well done Star!

Sugar well done on resisting on Tuesday and hope things will quieten a bit now with the visitors going.

Bath that’s so brilliant that you did a run - 6.5k is excellent! You are nearly into single fingers in terms of your pound-loss target!!

All fine here - feeling good today - got a lot of work done which is a relief. Stuck to my 2 roses last night but still came in at 1410 sigh.

Had a hungry moment during the afternoon today - got a mad craving for something salty - so had some popcorn with fry-light and salt on it - only 60 cals and it completely filled me up! Know it’s all carbs but would highly recommend it as a snack.

Ravioli for tea tonight so 1240 so far today, but there’s still a tiny bit of Xmas cake left with my name on it Wink so might have that soon. Hoping for a light weekend so (maybe foolishly) thinking I can afford to indulge a bit.

Not2bObvious · 02/02/2017 21:02

Not at all dawg, you were v kind and I really appreciated it. Now my turn for concern, 1410 is not a huge amount - would it maybe be time to raise the cals a little to start a mini maintenance phase, let the last 2kgs come off slightly slower but be a bit kinder to yourself? I think you're doing fab, you don't need to be too hard on yourself

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 03/02/2017 06:49

Happy Friday all! As far as I can tell I'm not in too much pain so far (''tis early yet of course) Tales from the scales, 11.6.2 - so up 1lb from last Friday which is a miracle considering last weekends madness. So overall from the 4th of Jan I'm down 3.6lbs - that's good enough. Will decide in the next hour or so if I'm going to morning class...hmm
Anyone else up? Anyone got anything planned for the weekend? I've company tonight and a kids party tomorrow so looking forward to a quiet one on Sunday

Can i join? have been doing mfp for three weeks and lost just under a stone. Following the initial big loss at the start im losing about 2 pound per week.

Am struggling though if I'm honest.

At work there are constant "goodies" and people tease those of us on diets. I love home made cakes and have a terribly sweet tooth.

I have stuck to healthy food, but im constantly hungry and thinking about defecting to sw or ww just so that i can have more veg/fruit to eat.

I don't get time to do much exercise but my job is pretty physical so i don't worry too much about it (and i broke our treadmill last week Blush)

I was 15s now just over 14. Dread to think what my BMI is Confused i am only 5'2" Size 18 bottom 22 top.

Where am i going wrong? it allows me 1470 cals per day and whilst im usually under i struggle. Also confused as to whether i should be limiting fats or carbd.

Not2bObvious · 03/02/2017 07:37

First of all I think it's amazing you've lost a stone in 3 weeks, and of course you're v welcome here. I don't have any magic answers but I don't see any reason while following mfp that you couldn't have fruit/veg. What are you typically eating in a day to stick to 1470? It could just be a bit low for you - you could start allowing yourself 1600-1700 for a week and see does that help with the hunger. Feeling hungry too often will just push you to flake under pressure. And so what about other people's opinion of whether you're on a diet - let them worry about themselves. Smile serenely and in your head tell them to fottfsof (I don't think I've ever used that one on here, next I'll be handing outBiscuit)

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 03/02/2017 08:59

Welcome LEM, well done on your brilliant loss so far.

I too am confused why you can't eat more fruit and veg? I'm really not a fan of diets. I go for the eat as much fresh, wholesome food as you possibly can. I don't think fat or sugar are the enemy, but better to have complex carbs and limit saturated fat. But the more fresh stuff you eat, the easier that is. For me, it tastes better too, but I understand others love more processed food.

7.4 this morning. So I've had a smoothie and breakfast. I can't eat if I'm not physically hungry, so adding smoothies I think will work for me.

Not2bObvious · 03/02/2017 12:44

I made it to the gym - another tough one but have to keep chipping away. Lovely omelette for lunch and 3 small biccies
I'll have to keep busy this afternoon to avoid anymore nibbling, nice pile of ironing waiting for me😩

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 03/02/2017 13:00

Well done Not, on the gym & a really tough class yesterday. I'd rather take a run than that lot any day. Just seen you had a loss this morning too. Well deserved. Now don't go blowing it this weekend.

No loss for me today, stayed at 11 7, but delighted given I actually had date night with DH last night for 1st time in yonks. 2 glasses prosecco (smaller servings than wine!), fish cake, and then mushroom risotto with rocket. It was soooo nice to sit down, and have food brought to me, and empty plates taken away. A real treat.

Now Dawhead, I'm a bit concerned about you. I have never ever known popcorn to be filling, especially only 60 calories worth Wink. But with your 2 roses ration, you really are the queen of restraint Star.

Great start LEM, and well done yesterday on your shit shovelling allotment mum. All over workout by the sounds of things. What have you got growing at the moment?

Not2bObvious · 03/02/2017 14:22

Thanks bath, although I don't know why I say it's another tough class - all the classes there are tough! I'm not able to contemplate doing a 1 hour class yet, I used to but I think my age is catching up on me😉
Your meal out sounds fab, nice to get out & have someone else hand it up to you. I've a play date to host this avo, wish me luck!

OP posts:
DawheadAwgusEeentock · 03/02/2017 17:44

Not you must have been sending me subliminal messages last night Grin more on that later. Woohoo on the loss - well done Star! 3.6 in a month is brilliant! Well done too for doing another class - it doesn't matter how long it is - the fact you're going is the main thing. Are you noticing any changes in your body shape? Best of luck for the play date Wink although it might be over now.

LEM welcome Flowers. A stone in 3 weeks is amazing - well done!! As is 2lbs a week - but if you're constantly hungry that's not good. Like Not said - can you post examples of what you're eating and we can cast our beady eyes Wink. There might be tricks we can give you for saving calories to use elsewhere. Did MFP suggest 1470? If so, maybe you could lower the amount you want to lose every week to give you more to play with?

Need I think you said you make your smoothies fresh? Does it mean you end up shopping a few times a week for fruit/veg?

Bath YAY for the date night!!! So, so glad you got treated and had a lovely time - and so deserved. Heh heh Grin on the popcorn but I have an air-popper - would that help Wink.

So, ended up having Xmas cake AND 2 roses last night - finished on 1595. AND going for a burger (well - chicken fillet) and chips (erm...sweet potato chips) tonight so indulging again. AND had a big lunch so today estimated to come in at 1755 Blush. Bloody weekly average goal is out the window.

But, Not, you're dead right, I can afford to slow down, only 4/5lbs to go. Although I would like to be settled into maintenance by April - b'day month.

I just realised today is my 6-month MFP-and-this-group anniversary Grin - 3rd August was when I said "Hi can I join" Grin. No doubt it was one of the best things I ever did in my life. I'm such a different person to the unhappy woman who wrote that first post.

Have I ever confessed that I have a weight tracking spreadsheet? Blush Anyway just got a nice surprise, I had one formula incorrect which means I didn't realise I've hit the 2 stone mark Grin. Mind you, on the other hand it means it's taken me 6 months to lose that, which sounds very slow Sad. But it's been sustainable and I haven't ever really felt deprived so nothing to complain about.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Not2bObvious · 03/02/2017 18:01

Omg 2 stone in 6 months??? That is fantastic dawg. I'm down 1.5 stone...in 2 years😉 Really & truly that is excellent and you should have no trouble maintaining it. Play date has been great, they've fecked off to play in another room, both of them had pals over so everyone was happy once fed and then biccied up. Although saying that, the smaller pair are being v quietHmm Ahh nope, I can hear the baby elephant noises in the background, still alive phew!
Doing a hairy biker pork schnitzel recipe, from fingers X'Ed they turn out ok. Doing Italian potatoes as well. Looking forward to it all and also some 🍷😁

Evening all
Welcome Lem
To borrow a phrase from Ronnie Barker, it's been a funny old day. Went to bed last night with plans for a really good sleep. 1am DS woke up for milk, which is usually fine, but husband got his milk then kind of threw it at me saying 'I feel sick' and rushed off to the bathroom. I fed DS and he flat out refused to go back to sleep afterwards which is completely out of character. Meantime DH has started vomiting in the the bathroom...suffice to say, I finally got DS back to sleep at 4.30am after several episodes of Postman Pat, and DH collapsed back into bed about the same time, in the full throes of a D&V bug - think he's got what DS had on Tuesday but worse. Thankfully I was working from home today as I ended up with both of them at home unwell and/or tired and meike a zombie. I haven't tracked any food today, but I did perk up a bit late afternoon and did 15 minutes of strength training. Right now I'm making myself a nourishing Thai chicken soup for dinner packed with loads of veggies, gorgeous free range chicken thighs and lots of chilli. I might stay awake for half an hour after that before I fall into bed. Fingers crossed I'm not next to end up with the D&V bug, tomorrow is DS's first little Toddler Rugby session and I really want to take him.

TheoriginalLEM · 03/02/2017 19:42

Thanks everyone. Today i had philly light on toast 2 slices (265) Then a banana (90) at about 11. My lunch break was at 2 so by then i was starving. On a friday i meet dp for lunch. We went to spoons and had skinny steak (steak with salad) 506 calories with dressing but didn't have dressing. i work til 7 so just waiting for dp to serve dinner. Chilli with rice. My estimate is about 500 cals.

Lunch was more cals than usual i usually have a ready meal in eork about 350 cals.

But im never not hungry

Bathsheba3 · 03/02/2017 19:45

you really are having a bad run of it Jonty Flowers.

And all the nice chat I hadn't realised how well you've done Dawhead. Incredible. I don't think you often say what your weight loss is, or have I just missed it?

Hope there's not too much tidying-up not. Restraint this eve and you could hit the 4 lbs on the nose tomorrow.

Not2bObvious · 03/02/2017 21:07

Seriously jonty you are having a rough run of it. I hope you get a good rest & it was just a 24hr bug and you don't get it.
Quick thought to the, toast wouldn't fill me, it would send me on carb lookout. Eggs with some toast, real butter, bit of bacon or avocado, nuts for break - plenty of water throughout the day. Protein with lunch, ready meals can have lots of sugar again set off the hunger. Normal dinner with decent amount of veg, some carbs. I think you might be eating the right amount of calories to hit the numbers but the wrong types of food to give satiety. I'll bore you more another day😉

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 04/02/2017 06:40

Thanks not and bath DH is a lot better this morning and DS slept through so apart from DDig requiring at wee at 1am I got some decent sleep too! Still got fingers crossed the D&V doesn't arrive today!
I hopped on the scales this morning, back at 10st 6.5, so last week's damage has worn off but still not as low as last Friday yet (10st 5.5). Aiming for on track today although I haven't figured out food yet, probably egg on toast for breakfast, I've got some more Thai chicken soup left from last night actually I can have for lunch, and then I've got some fresh tagliatelle in the fridge, so I'll probably do some sort of salmon and pasta dish for dinner for us....off to MFP!
Oh, LEM I agree with Not your breakfast is tripping you up, you need less toast and more protein and fat, it really does affect your whole day. My typical breakfast is one slice of toast with half an avocado mashed on the top with a squeeze of lime juice and an egg on top of that. Keeps me full right up to lunch.

Needastrongone · 04/02/2017 07:23

Jonty I wasn't on yesterday but I'm glad that your DS/DH seem to have had a better night. Fingers crossed you are okay.

Lem I agree, I think the breakfast choice is carrying forward for the whole day. I have a range of breakfasts but generally have the following;

  • Avocado on toast (sprinkled with linseed if ICBA!!!).
  • Egg on toast
  • Porridge made with almond milk, loads of fruit on top
  • Bircher muesli made with almond milk, lots of fruit.

I can often not feel all that hungry even at lunch. Also wonder if you are eating enough calories, so second maybe adjusting MFP for a slower weight loss/longer time frame. I would think the weight would be more likely to stay off permanently then too.

Daw I didn't realise you had only been here 6 months. Wow, what amazing loss. That's such an achievement. Go Daw! In answer to your question, yes, I do top up with fresh during the week. However, we are essentially a family of 4 adults (teen DC) and we make 99% of our meals at home, including lunches. The price of eating well. Smile

Not Good work on another class. You are really in the routine of exercise aren't you?

Date night sounds lovely Bath.

I had a decent day yesterday. Went to see La La Land with my friend, her DD's and my DD. It was my birthday treat from her. We went to a posh cinema where you sit on sofas and they bring you food and wine. Large wine and a Halloumi burger with roasted veggies and chips for me. Stupid pricing to be honest, but the food was lovely and I thought the film wonderful.

What are you all up to today?

Needastrongone · 04/02/2017 07:26

I'm 7.4 in weight.

Food-
Bircher muesli and fruit.
Tuna bagel and fruit/yogurt.
SC lamb, cooked as a curry or moroccan style.

Unlikely to run as I went to the track yesterday and have a race tomorrow.
