This is a me me me update I'm afraid. I've just run 1.4 miles. Without stopping. It probably doesn't sound much but to these 47 year old bones that were obese this time last year it's incredible and all down to you lot! It only took me 16 minutes as well :)

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 30/12/2016 13:30

Need completely agree with you and Not - ignore the BMI - if you're starting to look scrawny then you can start eating more - can I send you some of my leftover choccies Xmas Wink. It's great the PT found that weakness IYKWIM - you are giving me hope that I can get my knees fixed this year. Hope the run went well today.

Not Glad you had a lovely time away and I love the tad tipsy update Xmas Grin - glad it was a good night. Are you getting glammed up today for partying tomorrow?

Loli bloody hell that's brilliant that you've started running! Well done Star! Assuming you're still in the caravan? Hope you're still having a lovely time - great that DH got some good news and that he's open to the idea of getting healthy.

Bath wow that's so brilliant to maintain - well done Star but sorry for the work stress Xmas Sad. I have had many crazy work Xmas's myself over the years (used to be the company's year-end in a former life) so I feel your pain.

Sugar welcome back - great to see you! It's v good that you're planning getting back on track already - and you might not have gained as much as you think.

Cora welcome back too! I am with you on the chocolate splurge but you might not have gained much either!

You're all v nice to me about the 3lbs but I know it's fairly bad - my worst gain since I started. But now I've to try not to gain another 3lbs Xmas Angry. Not you're dead right about getting rid of food but my heart's not in it yet. The old fat me is still in here and not able to throw stuff away.

Finished Wed on 2000 and yest came to 2250 Xmas Blush - not up in the lofty heights of Xmas but still v bad. I've just done in a bag of choccies on my desk Xmas Hmm but we're back to having sensible dinners and the yule log and Bailey's cream is gone now (phew) so not sure where I'll finish today - I'll try to be under 2000 for sure.

Needastrongone · 30/12/2016 14:06

I know what you mean Daw, it's all the 'naughtier' things you have in just for Christmas. I'm still having cheese and crackers for my lunch, just to use the cheese board up. I did bin the yule log though, as DD has no 'off' button sometimes....

How you feeling today Not? Smile

Good news about your DH Loli. Probably a very stereotypical comment but guys seem to enjoy tech don't they? Not that women can't either! Well done on the run. Knew you could. Brilliant.

Good luck for the weigh in Congreta!

Thanks Daw, I did enjoy the run. And I have switched to maintenance mode too on MFP. I hope you can get the knee fixed too.

Sorry, this post is disjointed, the cleaners are in and I'm multi-tasking a touch trying to chat and post and keep out of the way!

Brekkie - toast.
Lunch - bloody cheese and biscuits, fruit and yoghurt. 2 choccies (oops).
Dinner - mutton and chorizo tagine in the SC, with cranberries. Mixed up stock with garlic, sumac, white wine, paprika, cumin, seasoning and a touch of honey. Not exactly low calorie but we will have with lots of veggies and it will be lovely. Grin

SesameSparkle · 30/12/2016 14:38

Loving all the updates! Xmas Grin

not your mini break sounded lovely! And glad you also had fun last night! Xmas Wink

dawhead glad you had a lovely Christmas. You made me Grin with the story about the pjs! Don't be too hard on yourself about the extra cals. I have the same problem. We'll all be in the same boat I think after January 1st, but at least we can tackle it together. Smile

need I know what you mean about picking a sensible weight so as still to look ok. My face is slimmer than ever now, but I've noticed I now have some loose skin on my neck for the first time. I don't really have many lines on my face, so it was a bit of a shock when I noticed. I would be scared to go any lower now, even though an extra half a stone or so would be great for my waist and tum, which are still pretty flabby.

loli I've treated myself to all sorts. Some work clothes, a lace going out dress, a boring practical waterproof coat, a pompom hat and a half price cashmere travel blanket/wrap type thing. Hope you have a good break. Glad you got warmed up in the end! Well done on the running too. I can totally recommend downloading a run plan like C25k, if you haven't already. That's how I started.

bath so glad to hear the scales are going in your favour. Way to go!

sugar welcome back! We're here to support in any way that we can. Smile

cora hiya! Chocolate had properly been my weakness over the past week. Staying in a house with young children really hasn't helped either - every time my parents gave their grandchildren a treat, I wanted one too....! Blush

Well that's been a loooong week of treats. I don't seem to have an off button either. I suppose having spent most of my adult life obese it really is still quite hard to listen to my own body to decide whether to continue eating or not. Anyway I'll be back home after today, and will be able to control my own environment, so hopefully no more 2,500+ calorie days for a long while yet. I've still to weigh in, but I suspect I'll be joining the rest of you from 1st January, to try to get back to my maintenance weight.

Not2bObvious · 30/12/2016 15:57

Afternoon all, another batch of lovely updates to read! I'm not too bad today need, although I did inhale chips & buffalo wings for lunch😳 dawg nope wasn't getting the hair specifically done for nye, more just the way the timings worked for my colour. I really hope you can get the knees sorted, would a steroid injection help? They're covered under vhi I think at their swift care if you're a member. Mine creak a bit too but not so bad that I can't run. Oh wow loli I'm delighted for you with the run, that's not at all shabby & sounds around my speed. I returned my barbie workout gear so now have some cash to spend but as is typical, I have money but nothing I want - waaah. Talk about a first world problem. I've vouchers & cash but nothing is appealing. I started my wardrobe declutter yesterday - 1 bag filled but it will end up being another 3 before I've shed myself of all the crappy clothes. I have dresses from my honeymoon nearly 16 years ago! Coats/boots/shoes galore. I'm feeling ruthless. Sitting back & relaxing with a fizzy water, steak for dinner which I'm looking forward too. Will be glad to get back to normal next week, need some v light days to get my system back to normal - tmi bunged up & v bloated, bleurgh

Needastrongone · 30/12/2016 18:03

Sesame. I'm so sorry I missed you earlier. That's exactly what I mean, my neck has loose skin too, and there's lines around my eyes that were not obvious before. Pigeon chest. I'm a size 6, and I think, not a vanity one. That's fine. I run a lot and that does breed a certain body shape, but I'm 45 in January, not 25 Grin

Great to have a clear out Not, very cathartic I always feel.

Lamb is very fatty so steamed broccoli, asparagus and sweet potatoes, the latter roasted with Fry-Light to compensate. Smile

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 31/12/2016 20:30

Oooo quiet today - hope you're all having a lovely NYE.

On my phone so not going to risk any updates or callouts, but just wanted to pop on to say what a brilliant 2016 I've had and it's thanks to all of you Flowers.

I can't believe I'm ending the year at a healthy weight after so many years of being overweight and unhappy as a result.

You're all brilliant, amazing ladies and I feel incredibly lucky to have found you all. Thanks again for all your support and here's to a wonderful 2017 for all of us Star.

Not2bObvious · 31/12/2016 23:26

Ahh thanks dawg and the same to you, it's been a pleasure to "spend" time with you, hope you have a lovely evening xxx

Lolimax · 01/01/2017 00:53

Happy New Year to you all. I hold you fully responsible for me ending the year under 12 stone and being able to run 2 miles without stopping. WTF have you done to me? I love you all forever. Honestly don't ever leave me. Please. Even if an old man eyed me up tonight and DH wet himself laughing. Sod. It's all your fault.

SesameSparkle · 01/01/2017 01:09

Aw nice posts girls, happy new year to you all! Kitchen closed for the last day of 2016 on 2796cals. That includes 345 for champagne!

I saw this earlier and thought of you all!

Happy new year ladies! I'm working all weekend hence the lack of updates! I ended 2016 with a large Indian take away (no wine as on call) and am motivated now to get back on track.

Braved the scales and am back to 12st 1lb (7lbs up). I'm hoping that some of that is bloat but it could be worse after a few weeks of very bad eating. This day last year I was 16st.

Target for 2017 is to get into the 10s and to get fit again-will redo my 30 day shred starting tomorrow to boost myself.I got a Fitbit for Christmas which will hopefully motivate me. Working yesterday used 20k steps so today likely to be similar, maybe slightly more with transport disruptions.

So today's plan:
Breakfast: scrambled eggs with turkey rashers, spinach and a little cottage cheese.
Lunch: I've got an M+S supernutty whole food salad
Dinner: Buckwheat Paella
Snacks: I've packed some grapes, and some nuts into work bag (may be a long day).
That will all be 1250cals.

Sorry this is all me me me! You've all been such a great support to me and I'm really motivated now to get back to a good healthy weight this year reading to TTC no 2 in 2018.

Sugarandsalt · 01/01/2017 07:03

Ready to not reading to! Reading won't help with conceiving!

Needastrongone · 01/01/2017 15:28

Happy New Year lovely ladies. I hope you are all raring to go for 2017. I wonder if we will get new folk to chat with?

I'm sure it will all come off very quickly Sugar, I've had the M&S salad and it's lovely.

My starting weight for 2017 is 7st 7lb, bang on target. Last night will have been a disaster and we had a massive NYE party (brilliant, but never again, done it 3 out of 4 years and it's someone else's turn this year).

Spent all morning clearing up after 90 minutes sleep. It's all done now and I have done a steady run of an hour, so I'm sat down now.

Breakfast - egg on toast.
Lunch - pie and peas (left over from last night but really needed it, local butcher makes them). Mango.
Dinner - Mary Berry Malayan chicken/rice.
Small glass of wine as this is my treat.

I've got loads of calories to play with today as I moved so much and run Smile

How you all feeling? Ready to dispense with Christmas and kick start the New Year?

immaturecheddar · 01/01/2017 18:56

Hi all

Can I join you please? Long term MNer, new to MFP.

Without boring you too much, I am currently three stone overweight and desperate to shed it. My confidence is in tatters and I hate having to wear my 'fat' clothes. I have tried so many diets...SW, WW (that worked ten years ago and I got down to ten stone then put it back on when I left uni), Lighter Life (misery) etc. I don't react well to being told that I can't have stuff or that I have to stand on a set of scales in front of someone every week. It puts me into a negative cycle of eating so I've decided to take control of things myself.

After reading so many good things about MFP, today I've downloaded it and begun tracking. I'm enjoying it. I'm determined to hit my goal and feel like me again, instead of feeling like objects are going to start orbiting me. I want 2017 to be the year I finally nail it, for good. A lot of my issues with food and overeating stem from my childhood so I will be thinking about how I can address those too.

I'm hoping joining this thread will give me that extra bit of motivation and a kick up my big arse.

Lolimax · 01/01/2017 20:04

Welcome immature! So nice to have you join us. I'm a huge fan of MFP and have even got DH to download it (apparently he'll start using it next week lol!). It's definitely worked for me.

immaturecheddar · 01/01/2017 20:08

Thanks loli. DH also needs to shed a few lbs so hopefully if I can pull this off he might be inspired to get on board with it.

At the moment I have to get my head around not picking / grazing. I have an awful habit of stuffing something in my face every time I go on the kitchen, even if I'm not hungry. It's ridiculous.

SesameSparkle · 02/01/2017 00:15

immature welcome on board. I know that feeling well of putting something in my face every time I go into the kitchen. But these habits can be broken. There's no public humiliation weighing here, but please do feel free to share your starting stats if you'd like to?

need well done for kicking off the year on target! Star

sugar a net 4st off in 2016 is bloody impressive! I am sure you will be in the 10s soon enough!

not .....HOW'S THE HEAD TODAY??? We love you too....! Grin

loli your achievements in 2016 are an inspiration! Glad your dh is also getting on board! Smile

dawhead you should be very proud of what you have achieved in 2016. Now for 2017, onwards and downwards for all of us!

Waves to bath, cora and anyone else lurking out there.

I started 2017 on 9st11. So I've gained 3lb in all over 6 weeks since my lowest recorded on 23 November. The damage isn't as bad as it could be I suppose. Ideally I'd like to be back at 9st9 if I can. I need to think how I'm going to get there. My long term trend is also good overall, as I was 12st10 on January 1st last year.

I haven't had a bad first day. Kitchen closed on 1656. And I went for a long run earlier - 10k! That's a lot for me and only about the 4th time I've ever run that far. But as I've managed to fit in a midweek run the last couple of weeks, it felt ok, so I kept going. I was exhausted for the rest of the day mind and spent most of the evening in bed ....

Not2bObvious · 02/01/2017 07:28

Happy new year all - only back to the living after the worst hangover of 2017😉 Feeling quite unwell with a possible dose of tonsillitis which is scuppering my plan of running but I'll get back into it eventually.
Welcoming me immature, I'm sure you'll have great success & peoples stories of greatloss over 2016 spur you on.
Anybody doing anything nice today?

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 02/01/2017 09:12

Morning.

Cheddar. Hello and welcome. Happy to have you on the thread. Looking at my photos of my summer holidays and seeing how my clothes choices had changed really spurred me on to do something. MFP works for me, as I am not sure I fully trust diets of any sort really.

Sesame 3lb is nothing over 6 weeks, pretty much a fluctuation if anything. It's only 0.5 lb a week to lose too in the same period. Well done on the 10k, that's a significant distance, over 6 miles!!

Not Sorry you feel poorly, is tonsillitis something that you suffer from? Trying to be positive, illness usually means weight loss at least. No point in running if you feel unwell.

I was 7.5.8 this morning, so have lost 1lb. Which may or may not be water, but the general trend in the last week or so has been nudging down very slightly. I'm eating well though, so it will be the exercise.

Boring day today, but last day before being back at work. I plan an easy run, clearing out the linen cupboard as we have new bedding and sorting the freezer in the garage. Then a family dog walk this afternoon.

Roast chicken dinner, using all the veggies that need using up.

Lolimax · 02/01/2017 10:58

Morning my lovelies! Not I hope you're feeling better. Rotten starting the New Year poorly.

Need and Sesame how on Earth do you run so far? I've just started (promotion from walking) and I'm up to 2 miles in 30 minutes. I'm pleased but it's bloody hard work.
Eating wise I've been ok ish. We're still away in the van, home today, work tomorrow so I'll weigh first thing in the morning. Be interesting! About to walk 2 lazy hounds then pack the caravan up for winter close down (boo hoo) before we head home and pick up the cat. Then back to being a grown up again.

Sugarandsalt · 02/01/2017 10:58

Welcome immature. Need I'm so impressed that you are starting the year at target! Loli great to hear that your DH is starting to use mfp too- will make things easier if you are both on the same page. My DH has put on about half a stone (still not overweight though) but he's glad I'm back on track as he will lose his belly too! Sesame 3lbs is nothing in the grand scheme of things! Not hope the tonsillitis clears fast.

I finished my weekend working at 9am (was in for the day sat+sun, but on call from home overnight; thankfully I didn't have to go in overnight!). Started the day with a short run (just easing back into exercise!)- nearly killed myself slipping and sliding on ice until I decided to slowly walk to a football field and run around it! Plan to spend today clearing wardrobes and cooking.

Food today:
Breakfast: Carrot and courgette fritters with a poached egg and a turkey rasher. (From a new cookbook, lovely and 280cals)
Lunch: spicy sweet corn soup topped with sesame seeds (320cals for a very large portion, made it last night)
Dinner: Chicken and Brocolli Bake with a side of colcannon (going to make mine with cauliflower instead of potato and see how it goes!). (About 500cals).

Leaves 100cals for snacks.

Let's see how I do!

Needastrongone · 02/01/2017 14:57

All your recipes sound lovely Sugar and I've had a browse of the site you linked too as well, I'll definitely have a closer look later as there's some brilliant ideas there.

I've done a 10k run again, really enjoyed it, even if the legs took a while to warm up.

Breakfast - smoothie made with coconut water, blueberries, small banana and grapes. Also toast, I know smoothies are supposed to fill you up but they don't me!
Lunch - pork pie, 2 clementines.
Dinner - roast chicken dinner. Lots of veggies.
Snack - usual glass of wine.

immaturecheddar · 02/01/2017 15:05

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I only use MN on the iPhone app thing so I may be rubbish at namechecks. I'll do my best Grin

Hope everyone has had a good day.

We went out for lunch today and I had a superfood salad with no dressing and a Diet Coke instead of my usual burger and large glass of wine which was depressing but I feel much better for it now.No pudding either. Grilled bacon and an apple for breakfast.

not I'm sorry to hear you're suffering with tonsillitis; it is the worst. So miserable. I hope you feel better soon.

sugar Those fritters sound amazing.
