Unfortunately i didn't resist the mince pies. But I bought the mini ones, so only half-as bad? clutching at straws. And had to do a full vacuum today so extra calorie burning Xmas Grin

Lolimax · 26/12/2016 19:23

Happy Boxing Day! I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas and everyone has recovered. I ate my body weight yesterday but walked 2 and a half hours today. Dogs are snoring and now I'm ironing (sad or what?) mainly to resist going into the kitchen.

Needastrongone · 26/12/2016 20:48

Sounds like we've all had a reasonable day food wise. I came in under, as SiL is doing SW anyway so her food offerings have changed radically over the last year. Nut roast and tons of veggies. Small piece of cake which I didn't want but felt had to have due to being polite. Drove anyway.

Early night and a long run in the morning.

Worst day over for me food-wise. Hoovering up the naughty leftovers should be too bad overall between 4 of us.

Bath. I'm the only person in our family that dislikes mince pies!

Not2bObvious · 27/12/2016 08:10

Mini mince pies are wayyy better than full size bath unless you eat 20😉 Well done to both you and loli on the big walks. Super to get some activity in, will really help on the damage limitation.
Hope the migraine has lifted now need? Btw I wasn't suggesting you had a hangover migraine, just sympathising on it having experienced a small amount of migraine style symptoms from wine. I doubt I've ever had the real deal but from my yocky experience it must be grim.
dawg how was your Christmas Day? And I can imagine your friend poking your tum, haha, I sway between being bashful & confused when people say to me I've lost weight! But great that it's so noticeable, was laughing at the thoughts your mil loli asking if you'd lost a bit of weight now you're less than 75% of the woman you were! That's like something you'd read in aibu amoungst the mil complaints.
I'm off to a hotel for the next 2 days, not leaving for a few hours so a bit tempted to do 1 more run via the shops to change my Barbie sized workout gear, honestly if I was the size to fit in it I wouldn't need it...I'd just wear a bikini to flash my size 8 bod😁 Really looking forward to going swimming, wandering around the town, not focussing too much on food but enjoying it being handed to me. Out on Thursday for my Christmas date night with my dh, have babysitter yahoo!

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 27/12/2016 08:48

No, I knew what you meant Not, twas me that might not have been clear with my ramblings Grin A hotel you say? How lovely. Is this a Christmas treat, tradition, romantic break, a combination or none of the above?! In any event, kick back, enjoy the food and relaxation and general wanderings round town.

Thank you for asking. I went to bed at 10pm. Took all makeup off and moisturised etc. Slept like a baby, which I needed and feel like a different person today. This is the first day of having nothing on. I can feel the Christmas tension lifting a bit. The plan is this.

10 mile very easy paced 'look at the countryside' run in a mo.
A bit of pottering and tidying.
Sort out my recipe books as I've too many now (don't use some).
Walk the dogs with DS later.
Rustle up tea with leftovers.
Watch a film or 2.

Is everyone else still mad busy, or otherwise?

Not2bObvious · 27/12/2016 09:02

Glad you're feeling so much better need, the restorative power of a good sleep is amazing - if only they could bottle it. The mini break is just a little treat for us all, dh is self employed so this is probably the only time of year he's not that on-call, every other holiday we're laden down with laptops & wifi dongles, phones ringing/texts pinging. With luck we'll escape this for the next 2 days. There's also a kids club but my 12yo is resisting so as a compromise we're agreed she has to do the games & movie time which could mean parent time from 7-10pm which allows for a break from parenting and 🍷'time😉 Enjoy your 10 miler, my xmas day run was partly through a park with a river and it was beautiful. Apart from the jumpy dogs, I'm a bit scared of dogs and my last 2 runs have been spent a bit shakey, one where I had to change my route as 2 dogs decided I wasn't allowed by and barked/ran at me 😞 The other at least the owners were with them but I was scared shitless. I wish I weren't so nervous. And we have a huge problem with folk not cleaning up their dogs mess, so that means extra vigilance in the where you plant your feet. It's not the poor animals fault, some people are just dreadful! I actually thanked a woman I saw picking up her dogs business, judging by my area she's 1 in a million.

SesameSparkle · 27/12/2016 23:42

Hellooo!!! Merry Christmas/happy holidays everyone!!! Xmas Grin I've been reading everybody's updates but sorry I haven't had time to post. Wrote this reply on the train earlier on, so please forgive the lack of personals - I really need to get this post on thread before it goes out of date.... Hmm

Busy few days from me and it's all been up and down mfp wise. The last few days of work were quite ridiculous calorie wise, likewise first couple of days of being on hols. I had started to begin to resign myself to having a few pounds to shed at the end of the season. However the last couple of days have been slightly better. I'm another one that managed an Xmas day run whilst dsil made dinner, so that helped limit the damage by about 400 cals. Then yesterday I hit the sales all day, so didn't have a lot of time to snack, chose soup for lunch out and even resisted a scone! Smile I've spent a bloody fortune on new clothes now so I really need to be on it from now on and maintain like a good girl....

Not2bObvious · 28/12/2016 12:53

Hi sesame! Lovely incentive to stay on track having new skinny girl clothes. Enjoying our mini break away, fair bit of munching but I managed my run yesterday morning and did the treadmill in the hotel gym this morning. I was worrying about going out running too early, ice possibly/unfamiliar setting and then the penny dropped - I had access to a gym, d'ah. Then walked the legs off myself shopping with bigger dd. Bought nothing (for me I should clarify) V little interest in clothes right now. I want to wait until I'm closer to goal, and then seriously clear my wardrobe out. And I mean clear. I have a hodgepodge of awful looking stuff mostly in 14's that even worse case I needed I couldn't bear to wear. My new wardrobe will be size 10 and capsule. Sick of crappy clothes. I reckon I'm up 3-4lb judging by my jeans, but I'm hopeful half of that is pure bloat. It's lovely here, cold but dry & sunny. Off for a swim this avo and then Thai for dinner. Oh it's a hard life 😉

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 28/12/2016 13:22

I'm back in the land of the living! Let's pretend I didn't post on Xmas Day - bold fail and missing people is why I should never post from my phone!!

Bath sorry I missed your Xmas Eve post - sounds like you had a lovely Xmas - I'm so glad. I will joining you in the January back with a vengeance plan.

Loli fair play to you for ironing as a distraction method - I'm not sure I'd have the willpower Xmas Wink.

Not so, so impressed with your exercise during Xmas and ongoing now. Glad you got spoiled - well deserved! You have my sympathy on being afraid of dogs, I always was until we got ours - it has helped me somewhat but I'm still very afraid of strange dogs and even more so if she's not with me. The mini-break sounds brilliant - hope you enjoy the rest of it!

Need so sorry about the migraine on Xmas Day - you poor thing Flowers. Glad you're on the mend and your exercise during Xmas has been so brilliant too. I don't like mince pies either Xmas Wink H is the opposite and has been gorging on them since they came into the shops in November Xmas Hmm.

Sesame it's great you're getting back on track so quickly. And well done on the run as well! Swit swoo on the new clothes - sounds like a great incentive to stay on top of things.

Had a lovely Christmas (Not thanks especially for asking). It was quiet but everyone enjoyed themselves and it went far too quickly. Back at work today - H and I were v depressed last night that Xmas is over. I realised I enjoyed it so much because it was an escape from real life - but then I realised, wouldn't it be nice to not want to escape real life IYKWIM?
Anyway excuse the seriousness but I've been giving a lot of thought to what I want for myself next year. Part of which includes being the type of amazing lady that goes for a run over the Christmas holidays Xmas Grin.

Shouldn't complain b/c I did get spoiled and everyone was v thoughtful - even H Xmas Grin. Although Not I was laughing about your running gear being too small, I got some PJs in a size 14 and H asked if I was sure they'd be big enough!! Xmas Angry. Hmph!!! Xmas Wink.

Anyhoo....calories were a disaster as expected. I did lose track of my food as I didn't weigh anything and I also lost count of biccies and choccies Xmas Sad. So with guesswork I reckon the last 3 days were ~3,700 cals each, bringing my weekly average to 2,900.

Weigh-In day for me today and I gained 1.5kg ~ 3lbs since last week, so I'm back up to 64.8kg almost 10st 3. I know I've only myself to blame, but I am a wee bit disappointed - I was hoping it might be closer to just 1kg.

I switched MFP to maintainence last week and it gave me 1,630 so I'm going to try getting back on the wagon today, even in terms of just being mindful of everything I'm eating. No brekkie (typical brekkie last few days was a hot chocolate Xmas Blush) so leftover sandwiches soon for lunch and turkey curry for dinner should bring me to 990 for the day, which gives me about 500 for snacks. I'm glad to be back at work, but one of the many downsides with WFH is I know there are a few open boxes of choccies and biscuits downstairs just calling out to me. This next week is going to be my real test to see if I can wean myself back off the rubbish.

Needastrongone · 28/12/2016 16:29

Not. You are SO right about the restorative powers of sleep. I think it's probably better for our skin than any cream, diet or exercise programme. Wow, you are doing so brilliantly with the running. Fab to be using the gym. You are going to be some amazing lithe toned creature in your wonderful capsule size 10 wardrobe. Smile

Sesame, a new wardrobe sounds amazing! I've kitted out in the last few months, waiting for the Hush sale now in January.

Sorry you are back at work so soon Daw, but work does bring a bit of routine and order sometimes to our eating habits. You'll lost those tiny 3 lbs in no time.

I had a lovely lazy afternoon yesterday after a busy morning, then slept until 8am!!! That's really late for me, I'm usually up with the lark. A few more chores today for our NYE party and I'm just about to head off for a run.

I've switched to maintenance Daw too, my face and neck area are looking a tad scrawny and I'm nearer 7.7lb all the time, even with Christmas excess. I need a bit of something to plump out the wrinkles! My BMI suggests I could go to 6st11lb and still be healthy at my weight. I suggest that anyone that small would look like they had serious issues...

Brekkie - Avo on toast.
Lunch - cheese and crackers (needs using), 2 clementines.
Dinner - Turkey broth and crusty bread, broth made by DH.
Snack - glass or 2 of red, which needs using.

Not2bObvious · 28/12/2016 16:51

Oh my gosh need, I think weights under 7 stone should be the realm of children, you're right to dismiss that bmi b*llocks. I swam for about 20 minutes straight this afternoon, nothing too graceful but I do a decent back stroke and a laughable breast stroke. I was astounded at my stamina. I was musing to myself I should add swimming to my fitness regime but then realised it would only work if I had my own pool! Like dogs, other people swimming near me spook me. I'm a nervous nelly aren't I😁
I missed you saying you'd a gain dawg, although 3lb is but a decent poo😉 No need to fret at all. Although I would suggest getting shot of tempting food if you find yourself dipping in too often. I'm reading lots of threads of people insisting they aren't starting to cut back on food until the new year. Last year I added around 5-7lb to my weight between Christmas Day & the new year, bloody awful - I was so cross with myself. I am NOT doing that this year

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 28/12/2016 19:16

I agree Not. I like to be slim, like we all aspire to be, but I don't want to look ill. BMI shite.

Wow well done on the swimming, you do better than me then, I 'tootle' doing breaststroke, with my head above water at all times!

Fast run, 5 miles, bath, wine and waiting for turkey broth. Easy Christmas chillax. Love it!!

Personal trainer tomorrow. Nice to do a different type of exercise.

Lolimax · 28/12/2016 21:22

Waves from a hypothermic caravan in West Wales! We've come down to our beloved van for a few days with no kids but 2 excited dogs. Gas didn't work so a very stressful hour with me shivering (no one ever mentioned that loosing weight would mean feeling the cold more) and complaining very loudly but DH managed it without me divorcing him. I'm now tucked in by the fire cwtched under a blanket.
I'm very jealous of you both Need and Not being able to run. I do try when I walk the dogs but can only manage about 1/2km at a stretch at the moment.
Daw nice to hear from you and 3lbs is nothing!
Sesame what did you buy? Anything lovely?
I'm still (just) under 12 stone. Will try to do lots of walking over the next couple of days but also have a nice break as I know I can get it all back off in January.

Not2bObvious · 28/12/2016 21:27

Oh my head is always firmly above water too need, I'm astounded I can manage the backstroke so comfortably, as a child I couldn't bear my ears beneath water. Thai was delicious but had way too starter so only had a couple of spoons of main before I admitted defeat! Got it boxed up and that'll be lunch tomorrow. Pleased that I actually know my stop point. About bloody time.

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 28/12/2016 21:30

Ooh loli I'm thinking all Gavin & Stacey when I hear if your cwtching under a blanky (as we call them in our house) I think this is welsh hygge😉 Go skinny chilly girl😘

OP posts:
Lolimax · 28/12/2016 21:48

I probably had the shape of Nessa once lol Not! It's cockin' lovely and warm now though (more Ruth Jones, different programme!).

Bathsheba3 · 29/12/2016 10:06

Just caught up on all the news. Glad you had a few days away Not - shame it wasn't for longer. Sounds like your shopping was a big success Sesame. It is v chilly in centrally-heated home in big smoke - can't imagine how cold you must have been Loli. But nice to be away. Love a bit of Gavin & Stacey!! Wish I had your energy Need. I admire the fact you can always do what YOU need to do. Keeps you all on track & focussed. I think 3 lb gain is admirable Dawhead, given the temptations around.

Saying that I thought I had put on loads - braved scales this morning, & at 11 7.5. All 3 times. I really don't believe it. Haven't tracked, and have been snacking. A lot. The one thing that may be burning extra calories is work stress - I've still got loads to do to meet deadlines. Muscles actually sore from clenching (certainly not from exercise!). Had a late nighter last night, another tonight Sad. Getting there ....

Have a good day everyone Grin

Sugarandsalt · 29/12/2016 12:54

Will you have me back? I've been very very naughty and eaten EVERYTHING. Still away so haven't faced the scales yet. Back to my house this weekend so I'll weigh in on Sunday (new year) and I expect at least 7-10lbs on but I'll cope!

I have a st Patrick's day wedding and want to be in the 10s for that so have something to aim for!

Not2bObvious · 29/12/2016 13:30

Hiya sugar, welcome back to the fold. Don't be worrying, you'll shift any gains with all the running around you do. And having a goal for the wedding do will spur you on.
bath were you saying you were weighing in at 11.7.5? I wasn't too sure but if that's right you did fab over Christmas. Barely a gain iirc? I'm back home now and by heck it's a cold house after 2 days with no heating on. So I'm hiding under the duvet like a lazy lump. Really enjoyed the mini break & out again tonight, just me & himself. Cocktails and a meal are on the menu but it won't be a glam affair, too cold & feet too sore after wearing sparkly heels out last night. Hope to control myself a bit as have hairdressers tomorrow. Like you sugar I'm not braving the scales just yet, last record was showing 3-4lb gain but meh, it should be gone with a few days back on track.

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 29/12/2016 17:50

Waves back at Sugar. Welcome back! It might not be anywhere near as back as you think re the gains. In any event, it will go.

Well done on the lack of gain Bath, even with the snacking. Weight is a funny thing isn't it? My DC are teenagers, so it's easier to do my own thing again. I've had the 'work round everyone else in the family' for a very long time. It's good to have my own interests again.

I'm glad that you had a super time Not. And enjoy your romantic cocktails and meal. I hate a cold house.

I've had a good day. Had a session with my PT, and he's identified a very specific weakness that probably contributed to my back injury. I've got exercises to do, homework!!

Also walked the dogs twice as everyone else is busy today, so 4 miles done.

Brekkie - porridge made with coconut water, a spoon of cocoa powder and fresh mango.
Lunch - cheese and biscuits (need using!), fresh mango, blueberries and natural yoghurt.
Dinner - JO risotto with fennel and smoked salmon.
Snack - glass of wine.

Up early tomorrow as heading out for a 10 mile run with the club.

coragreta · 29/12/2016 19:02

Hi everyone. Hope you have all had an amAzing Christmas.
I have started tracking again today. Not really sticking to target though because of all the chocolate - 2 celebrations, 4 thorntons and half a pack of Milky Way buttons.
I'll weigh in on Saturday and stick to my target after that.
Haven't weighed myself since my scales broke so hope it's not too bad.

Lolimax · 29/12/2016 19:40

Evening from a slightly warmer West Wales and welcome back everyone!
Well you runners you have definitely inspired me! When I walked the fiends this morning I actually found myself (eeeek) running! It wasn't pretty and it didn't last long, probably not 1km but it happened. Who am I?
And more miracles. DH due to high steroids (not body building lol) because poor sod has 2 auto immunes has put on loads of weight. Luckily his sarcoidosis is now in remission and he's feeling better so we had a talk about him getting fitter and maybe loosing weight. Today as a late (extra) Christmas present I bought him a Garmin vivosmart and gadget man is currently sat next to me playing with his new toy. He's very competitive so I think it'll help him.

Bathsheba3 · 29/12/2016 20:17

Awwww, so nice to hear everyone's lovely news. Everyone sounding positive and up-beat. Love it. Long may it last !!!

Sugarandsalt · 29/12/2016 22:13

Thank you all.
Not glad you've had a nice time. Bath well done on staying steady, that's amazing over Christmas! Need well done on exercise, I have great plans to increase activity again now! Cora I also started tracking again- so far way over but tracking! Loli glad to hear your husband is in remission, steroids are all at once a blessing and a curse I know.

Like last year I plan to really get back on track on New Year's Day. Have already planned my weeks meals and ordered a large shopping delivery to manage 3 healthy meals a day!

Not2bObvious · 30/12/2016 00:30

Ooh I love it lots of updates! Pls forgive my lack of shout outs but I've been on the cocktails & Hendricks, great night out & a tad tipsy. Just about finished my last tipple & off to bed, dreading the hairdressers but hey needs must😉
